A Bennet Wardrobe Christmas Miracle: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

The greatest gift of all is time

The miracle is the link forged between Christmases past and present. Thomas Bennet

The Darcys know the changes age brings. Now, as birthday candles for Darcy multiply, how will time affect Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam’s love?

Time is painfully short for Fanny Bennet as she faces the loss of an ailing husband she dearly loves. Another hour or day with Thomas Bennet would be a treasure.

Thomas Bennet left Longbourn one last time to find a long-lost daughter. Now wearing a countess’s tiara, Kate Fitzwilliam has needed her family for decades, especially during the festive season.

The remarkable Bennet Wardrobe has its say in a most unusual Christmas dinner, mending hearts and giving that wondrous gift to the Bennets of Longbourn—Time.

This is a holiday quick read of about 45,000 words.

‘To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour’
(William Blake)

A Christmas miracle indeed. Immerse yourself in a poignant, redemptive, and deeply moving Bennet Wardrobe Christmas story. Step inside to spend more time with the beloved characters we have come to cherish. Time is so very precious…

“He had been spending so much time focusing on past or future sorrow that he had forgotten about the joyful living to be done in the present.” (quote from the book)

I am so grateful that Mr. Jacobson has given us another unique look into the lives of the five families who come together for one last Christmas to learn what they need to, to mend what is broken, and to have that precious thing called ‘Time’ to nurture their souls and do what they must.

“You, my dear heart, are the sunrise toward which my heart yearns throughout the night.” (quote from the book)

In order to fully appreciate this Christmas novella, I strongly recommend reading the complete series of novels in The Bennet Wardrobe saga.

I was fortunate to be gifted this book. Thank you. I will be purchasing the paperback for my collection.

When a lonesome time traveler has a strong longing to see family one last time, a sentient magical wardrobe time portal makes her holiday wish come true. Don Jacobson’s Bennet Wardrobe series completed with the emotionally impacting, triumphant eighth installment, but I was thrilled for a revisit to the series in the form of this tender holiday novella that takes place chronologically before several of the events in the regular series.

Because this is a story tucked within the other timelines of the series, it’s not a standalone and works best in release order behind book eight, The Grail: Saving Elizabeth Darcy.

In December 1919, the Countess gets a startling visitor through the magical wardrobe from the past- her youngest sister’s son tumbles into her life and makes her yearn to be spending Christmas with all her sisters and parents. The wardrobe finds a way to make it happen bringing Mr. and Mrs. Bennet from one timeline and the four Bennet sisters and their husbands from yet another.
The Wardrobe knew Kitty needed this one last fortifying visit to do what she still had to do in her time line. It gives her parents a chance to see her and make things right after she accidentally tumbled through time. It gives the Darcys who have been suffering an odd coldness in their marriage a renewing chance. But, most of all, family gets to be together for a little bit during the holidays enjoying this Christmas miracle.

Rather than the big tensions and excitement that come with the earlier novels in the series, this was a gentler, thoughtful, and heartwarming piece. It was a long goodbye as some of the family saw each other for the last time. Yes, I teared up. A sweet gift to fans of the series.

I rec'd an eARC from the author to read in exchange for an honest review.

My full review will post at The Reading Frenzy on 12.11.24.

Super intriguing

To understand this tale there is a definitively need to have read at least some of the other books in the series, but I found it an engaging story with an underlying love in different manifestations coalescing the whole narrative. A very enjoyable experience!

A True Holiday Gift!

One of the magical things about The Bennet Wardrobe is the fact that it can traverse time allows the author to use phrases and thoughts and we do not usually expect it to connect to people who are in regency England. As always Don Jacobson has given us an absolutely fantastic story. He has also given us the gift of if not expanding our vocabulary, then most definitely of expanding our greater understanding of the interconnectivity of everything.

A Bennet Wardrobe Christmas Miracle: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Don Jacobson is a heartwarming addition to the Bennet Wardrobe Series. The story weaves together the past and present, focusing on the Bennet family as they navigate the challenges of time and loss. This Christmas, the Wardrobe brings together the Bennets for an extraordinary dinner, allowing them to mend hearts and cherish the moments they have left. The story beautifully captures the essence of family, love, and the preciousness of time.

Jacobson's writing is both poignant and uplifting, as he skillfully blends historical elements with a touch of fantasy. As I cracked the cover on yet another Wardrobe story, I was looking forward to seeing what the Bennet Wardrobe was up to this time, and how the Christmas Season played a role with the greater Bennet family.

Christmas is descending on Matlock and Selkirk, and small ones are up to mischief, as their elders are busy with preparation for Christmas. The youngsters at Matlock are out to discover why Aunt Mary’s room and wardrobe are off-limits, and soon a thousand bees buzz and the pressure built…

Lady Kate is yearning for her family as Christmas draws near in 1919, as the wardrobe drops a much-unexpected guest. Lady Kate gets the opportunity to gather her family around her, – even if they all are separated by different times, – but here the Wardrobe makes itself essential, and makes the Bennets whole once more. Letters are dispatched to Lydia, Jane and Elizabeth – while the Bennet Trust helps get word to Longbourn, where Mrs. & Mr Bennet have just returned from another journey.

The Bennet family is reunited, and Mrs Bennet has ‘her’ flowers around her and can see what her lovely daughters have become and will become. Mr. Bennet is feeling his age, and knows that everything is likely the last, as he takes in the Derbyshire Christmas time, in the company of his family; his daughters and his wife.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Darcy are at odds with each other, which leaves them adrift, but Christmas and the future allow them another perspective, including the advice of a parent. The Darcy couple are allowed a chance to reconnect and deal with their issues of the 19th century vs. the more open communication and interactions of the early 20th century.

Three books collide in this Christmas Wardrobe story, as the Bennets unite to celebrate the season together, as a family. The Wardrobe once again shows its nasty sense of humour as it still has plans for the Founder and His Lady.

I will admit to smiling, shaking my head and lastly crying my eyes out, due to the emotional heaviness of the story! It was a wonderful story, even if it left me with still some questions – and a firmer belief in the Wardrobe’s nasty sense of humour, and its greater plan. Well done, Don!
