"Savage Rogue" is a gripping thriller that delivers on every front. From the eerie Wyoming setting to the tense, well-drawn characters, it’s a story that hooks you and doesn’t let go. Beretti and Jacobi make a fantastic duo, balancing grit with just the right touch of humor, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end. Perfect for fans of thrillers, mysteries, and cryptid lore alike. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings!"

As an avid traveller and explorer of the unknown, Luka continues to seek inspiration from the wild and untamed corners of the world, eager to share her imaginative worlds with readers everywhere.
Nicole Beretti is such a great agent, and this is a fact, that she is a Cryptid specialist. With her expertise and experience, she and her partner, Jacobi, are hunting down a dogman. A cryptid werewolf. Despite the obvious danger.
This creature is having a great time hunting down the citizens of the small town of Enfield. It is mauling them and eating them alive and mutilating their bodies. The town is in a state of chaos with the death of many residents and the rumors are flying off the shelves.
Despite their presence in the town, Beretti and Jacobi, know that their work is not going to be easy. The dogman is easily eight feet tall and with claws about six inches long, he is a very strong adversary. And very fast.
The dogman is not going to be easy to kill, if they could only find him. The people of this town are eager to find it and kill it with their pitchforks and sticks. No! I’m exaggerating here, I’m just trying to make a point that the dogman is nothing to play with. Will the people of the town hang on and let Beretti and Jacobi alone to do what they have come to the rescue to do?
I won’t spoil the fun but this was a truely enjoyable and thrilling read. I just enjoy how Ms Jacobs weaves her tales with hardly a dull moment. She just nails the suspense. This one will hold you till the end and have you wanting more.
I was not sure what I would think about this book but thought I would give it a shot. I can honestly say I was quite surprised. It started of with two hunters and they find something dead. Let me tell you, the way it was described made me want to cry so bad. It didn't matter to me what it was (they thought a wolf) it broke my heart hard!
Perry, the newbie cop, I really liked from the beginning. He was a favorite and that only got better as the story went on and I appreciated that.
Beretti is such a BA, I always admire such a strong female character and she excelled. The way events transpired throughout had me furious with some of the locals. I started to realize that like anywhere, people's reactions are such a huge impact on chaos. I believe so much is withheld from the people because the reactions are so unpredictable. This proves to be true even in todays society. It was extremely eye opening.
PUBLIC PARANOIA is such a thing and why it makes sense information is withheld and this book proves it. I disliked the Sherriff so much from day one. HE lacked everything in being a leader. The book kept my attention and I was entertained throughout the whole thing. I felt connected to the characters and would love to read more.
Thank you so much Tantor Audio for the chance to listen to this book. The narrator, Chloe Cannon, did a phenomenal job delivering this story.

The more time that passes without any official response, the more these people are going to feel like they have to act on their own. And when scared people act, they make mistakes. “
“Easier to make a joke out of something terrifying than face it.”
“You know, even though I hunt these cryptids, there are times… most of the time, honestly, when I feel a bit of sympathy for them……….It’s almost always because humans were involved, in some way, in why they went rogue.”
Savage Rogue immerses you in a chilling, small-town Wyoming mystery that keeps you on edge from the first page to the last. Special Agent Nicole Beretti is a force of nature—intelligent, fearless, and utterly determined. Paired with her equally sharp partner, Noah Jacobi, the duo dives into a haunting case involving brutal, animalistic killings. The eerie atmosphere of Enrick, coupled with the locals’ fear and suspicion, creates an unforgettable backdrop for this edge-of-your-seat thriller.
Luka T. Jacobs masterfully balances character depth with pulse-pounding action. Beretti shines as a protagonist, her sharp instincts clashing with the lazy Sheriff Becan and the reckless posse of locals. The tension between order and chaos is palpable, keeping you hooked as the agents unravel the layers of this sinister mystery. Jacobs’ writing vividly captures the wilderness of Wyoming, making the woods feel like an ominous character in itself.
The twists and turns in Savage Rogue are a masterclass in suspense. Just when you think you’ve pieced together the puzzle, another layer of intrigue pulls you deeper. With dark secrets and cryptid-like fears lurking in every shadow, the story doesn’t just thrill—it haunts. Jacobs excels in crafting a story that is as much about human nature as it is about the terrifying unknown.
As the start of a new series, Savage Rogue sets an incredibly high bar. Beretti and Jacobi’s dynamic partnership, the gripping plot, and the promise of more chilling mysteries make this a must-read for thriller enthusiasts. If you love a blend of small-town drama, suspense, and the supernatural, this book is your perfect pick. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Nicole Beretti.
Savage Rogue is the first in a series that features FBI Special Agent Nicole Beretti. Beretti was introduced in Night of the Dogman 3. She is a cryptid hunter assigned to a secret division of the FBI that specializes in hunting creatures that turn deadly to humans. These are creatures such as Bigfoot, Dogman, and other monsters.
This book was a really fun read and is exactly what I'm looking for in a great creature feature. These are the types of books I love and seek out, and Jacobs is becoming a huge force in the genre.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the Nicole Beretti series and the next Jacobs book in general.
It was good. I actually enjoyed it about a dogman who ends up finding his sibling dead in a tramp. Bear tramp where 2 guys had set it up so he starts going for Brian. It's not just about killing. It's about actually more so they haven't shown. Deputy insert calling in beretti and Jacoby who are FB. I and they go to find out what's going on and then coming to find out the end. The sheriff who's quick in any way. It's traffic in animals and that's why the 2 that got killed the first.
It started out with 2 jerks how thought they could harvest animals illegal and couldn't get in trouble , but they did not count on caging this animal . They did not believe what they had , but it's friend was there also and pissed off at them . There life ended for them , then the town was in trouble for what they did. The author did a great job with the book , you keep wanting more great job.
What I liked was, as usual, the strong characters she brings to life, especially Berretti. And her wildcard partner wasn't too bad either. Sure, there were a few editing and proofreading misses, but all in all it was a pretty clean book. Heading right into the next one!
There was zero character development. None at all. The two main characters are just plopped onto the page, run through a bunch of cliched actions and then ride off to their next adventure. Such a disappointing read. I was expecting a Mulder/Scully dynamic with a moody, atmospheric setting and creepy MoTW. There was none of that. I almost DNF’d at 40%. It did not get better.
I have read everything I could find that you've written and I have to say.....fantastic! Savage Rogue was excellent and I can't wait for more books from you. Keep up the great writing!
Boring couldn't finish it. I got 50% in and had to stop reading too boring. The concept of the story was good as was the reasoning behind the wolves attacks but the slow pace was just too boring for me. Perhaps the story picked up later but I couldn't finish it.
This author can really emphasize the importance of using your head in situations that are dangerous. I really like how she showed that good people can truly win in the end.
For me, this was a very fast read. From the beginning, it is non-stop action! What is great is how easily you're able to accept the possibility that this creature might really exist!
This story was amazing. The build-up was scary but made you want more. Loved the characters and felt the story moved quickly one adventure to the next. I will definitely read more from this author. Well done.
