With Ms. Thomas not interested in working with them any longer, Janet and Edward are enjoying some time in Paris together while trying to forget all about the top-secret government agency that used to employ them. When an unexpected assignment comes from a surprising source, the pair head to Dublin with very little idea of what they are walking in to.
The assignment seems simple enough. Meet a former agent on a particular date at a precise time in a given location. The agent has reached out for help, but no one seems to know why. Janet and Edward are in place at the appointed time, but when the former agent arrives, things get even more complicated.
The couple find themselves trying to learn everything they can about the man's past, which appears to have caught up with him. That means speaking to everyone who is currently a part of his life. Coming up with cover stories as they go along, the pair start investigating, helped along the way by an agent with a permanent posting to the Irish city. But, as ever, they need to remember to trust no one, anywhere.

4 and a half stars. This was another enjoyable mystery with Janet and Edward Bennett. The setup took more of the book than the mystery did to solve, but it's light, entertaining and good for a quick read.
Janet and Edward have been informed that their services are no longer desired, so the decided to take a second honeymoon in Paris. At least that's what Janet thought they were doing. But Edward has a mysterious lunch with an old colleague. Alone....
Turns out that Mr. Smith has a favor to ask. While Edward, and Janet no longer work for the agency, Mr Smith has a delicate matter he wants the couple to attend to. Apparently old spies never actually retire.
I will happily read every word Dianna Xarissa writes. I haven't been disappointed yet.
Janet and Edward are delightful as ever in this adventure -- I can never figure out where they are headed with their problem solving but I think I owe them dinner for this one! After severe storms and a possible tornado day before yesterday, I SO needed a book to keep me in my chair a few hours and have had trouble finding one. Thanks Diana....this one did the trick 😊
Four stars for this book. Yes, troubles are brewing at the agency, but Janet was definitely a whiner in this book. She was too needy to be part of solving a case this time. More time was spent on Edward taking care of every whine than was taken on solving the mystery. Bring back the couple who works together .
Janet and Edward are in Paris when they are asked to go to Dublin. An ex colleague of Edward's has asked the agency for help and ends up in hospital before they find out what he needs. Janet and Edward do a lot of sightseeing and shopping to follow clues to help the man. This book was really good as are the rest of them. Well worth five stars.
As a professor of history who went on to become a much more accomplished author than the one who has written this series once wrote, “hack authors dump their backstory like a load of mulch”. It requires little imagination to guess what grade he would have been awarded for this assignment.
I love these books they are so easy to read the characters are really well written I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cosy mystery series.
