A Tale of Princes, Poets, and Personal Interest
Cozy, whimsical, and so sweet it will make your teeth ache, A Tale of Princes, Poets, and Personal Interest aims to be your newest comfort read. It is a lighthearted story of growth, understanding, and finding love in unexpected places. Cherre is a dwarven princess who has put her passion for engineering before her duties as princess for her whole life, but she no longer has the luxury of messing her arranged marriage will be set in stone at the close of a year-long international summit. She concocts several schemes to get what she wants while keeping everyone happy. She hopes to uncover the secrets behind the fae's floating city so she can prove to her parents that her engineering is more useful than her mediocre leadership. When everything goes awry, she begrudgingly enlists the help of a fae poet to ignite the spark between her long-time-pining-but-destined-to-be-apart fiance and younger brother.
===
Princess Cherre has just one year left before she's doomed to eternal queendom via the actualization of her arranged marriage. She'd all but given up hope on pursuing her actual passion, engineering, until by a stroke of luck and a heavy dose of fae wine she overhears that her betrothed pines for her (notably much more qualified to lead) brother instead!
Everything could be perfect... except she'd escaped her princessly duties by signing up for a special program, and her assigned host Custodian proves to be quite the problem. Instead of being the key to the secrets of the floating city of Fehrindel as she'd hoped, he is a simple bard. One that for some reason insists on actually doing his duty and taking up her time with useless lessons about fae culture.
As time slips away, Cherre has nowhere to turn for help but the infuriating bard that won't leave her be. No better person to enlist to play matchmaker than a fanciful poet, after all.
Mischief is made and shenanigans ensue as Cherre tries to juggle her love for her family, her duty to her people, and the happiness of herself.

Fantasy isn’t really for me, but the author’s imagination in this story is astounding. She has created such a detailed world you can’t help but be captivated by the story. I suspect she has more stories to tell!

I narrated this audiobook and got completely lost in it. The characters have gorgeous personalities and I’m a little in love with a fae poet now. It can’t be helped.

Early ebook reader from Kickstarter!
This was an absolute delight! I very much wish I could escape to Fehrindel and its wonders, both architectural and personal
Our protagonist Cerre is an incredibly relatable character, sass and charm and flaws and all. It’s such a joy to follow her as she pursues her passion and her mischief in equal measure. It’s a cozy and whimsical story about a fantastical city in the sky, but more than anything I’d say it’s a story of growth. You will find yourself shaking your head at her conversational follies and cheering for her cheering for her success as she—rather haplessly, at first—chases her freedom. As Cherre learns about the people around her she comes to understand herself. It’s deeply satisfying to see her learn to love those around her and, hardest of all, herself.
Her Custodian, Sebastian, is the perfect counterpart to her sassy drama. He’s endlessly patient with a subtle twinkle behind his studiously official bearing. Their (unintentionally, if Cherre is to be believed) growing friendship is exactly what they both need to become the people they could be.
I cannot recommend this book enough! The hints of the huge and varied world make it hard to believe this is the author’s debut novel. She has such a talent for weaving worldbuilding into the character-first story. Even with the wonderul, satisfying end to this story, I am already looking forward to another book set in this world!

I adored this book, cozy, nerdy, firey, and romantic. 🥰
Cherre is a dwarf on a mission. Well, three missions: get out of the arranged marriage scheduled for next year, discover the secret keeping the floating fae city in the sky, and set up her brother and her fiance, who are clearly pining for each other. Hoping to knock out all three at once, she applied for an Envoy program in the fae city of Fehrindel, pairing her with one of the elusive Custodians of the city. Surely immersing herself in engineering with one of the keepers of the city's flight is a perfect way to spend her final year of freedom.
Except the Custodian she is matched with isn't a fellow engineer. Turns out all the Custodians are just ... artists. Creatives doing whatever they please. And hers seems to know nothing at all about how the city stays afloat.
Not letting this stop her, Cherre is determined to make it all work out. She enlists the infuriating bard into her matchmaking scheme...but a year is plenty of time to uncover secrets, and nothing, of course, goes to plan.
Read this book. It's a delight. Cherre is curvy and nerdy and headstrong in all the right ways, frustrating in equal measure but able to (eventually) see her flaws. Sebastian, her Custodian, is far deeper than he first lets on, and Fehrindel's secret (and Cherre's discovery of it) won't disappoint.

This was a wonderfully cozy read.
Set in a rich fantasy world that constantly had me curious to know more about its various wonders, as well as the history and dynamics between its myriad of magical peoples. The protagonist Cherre is a smart, headstrong young dwarven princess who knows exactly what she wants in life, or at least she thinks she does. She is a wonderfully layered and realistically flawed character that has a lot to learn about herself and the world around her. She has a mind for mischief when it comes to what she wants, and brings her fae host Sebastian (no stranger to mischief himself) along for the ride. I love their dynamic, and was absolutely charmed by them as they help each other grow.
This is a delightful story and I can't recommend it enough. The author came out swinging with this, their first novel and I can't wait to read more.

This was so good! Someone mentioned the kickstarter to me so I took a shot on it, and it's easily my new favorite cozy fantasy and in my top 10 overall.
I got the early release ebook, and can't wait for the audiobook and the full release. Christmas gifts just got so easy, cause all my friends are gonna be getting a copy this year.
The world building is really well balanced and a fresh take without being overwhelmingly complicated, and the story is so good.
I usually have a hard time really getting invested in a character, but CHERRE IS TOO RELATABLE.
Could not put it down.

It's an amazing read. With its lovable cast exploring their passions, fate, and the breadth of all their unique world has to offer, it's hard not to get pulled into its story of romance and mischief.

Very cute, cozy romantasy! Lots of character development for main character! Very fun adventure, and good pace for the romance to develop over the course of the book!
