Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

He's here... Negan has claimed this story arc as his own. This is one sadistic bastard! I felt that this is where the comics and show truly start to fall in line. I like seeing Rick stand strong with Negan. He felt weak in the tv series through this but here we get a better idea of his plans and things move faster. Carl proves he isn't too smart in his move and seeing Negan react to him was interesting. Otherwise, he is one nasty dude on SO many levels. It was interesting to see how the kingdom comes into play in this one more and how fast things moved.

Being a huge fan of the show, I wanted to see how the original writing started and how the show writers followed and deviated from the comics. My dislikes were that the comics are much more crude, crass, and unnecessarily violent. I did like the change in relationships and how people worked together differently, and the comics have a different creepiness feel than you get watching it on TV. Overall, I prefer the show, and probably will not finish out the comic book series.

A culminating series of events with the manchild murderer-in-chief, Negan. Probably my favorite so far. Harder to stomach than normal given the current reality, but it's hard to deny the pulpy delights of this series. Kirkman still has issues with any kind of dialogue as it tends to land with the bluntness of an anvil. Though while he has trouble there, he still understands the contours of plot and character driven narrative which leads to an explosive finale sure to interest even the less devout readers.

Every time that I read one of these it is getting harder and harder to read anything else after. I just want to see what happens next. I've read through the current arc, but only once and it was years ago so I'm dying to read through this and remember all the little details that I'd forgotten. The next omnibus will take me into parts of the story that I have never read before and I cannot overstate how excited I am for that.

Negan has come to take over your plans and dreams.👽

I actually came to admire even more the tv character which seems to be even better than in comic books.

Action packed volume. Most of them has finally undurstood that the real.danger come from the living not the dead...

The Walking Dead Omnibus, Volume 5 by Robert Kirkman gathers the comics' volumes 17-20 (#97-120). Rick and his group confront the Hilltop Colony's enemy, the Saviors, a group of brutal people led by Negan. However, Rick severely underestimates The Saviors and does not take them seriously as something to be feared until some of his best friends begins dying in brutally savage ways. In the end, Rick is forced into an ultimatum that puts the lives of everyone in Alexandria on the line. While the survivors learn what living under Negan's rules mean, Rick devises a new strategy to deal with the Saviors. Before it can be put in motion, a group member disappears after the Saviors collect their payment from Alexandria. Rick and Jesus must now call on the help of an exotic man named Ezekiel and his "kingdom" of survivors to have any chance of defeating the Saviors.

Rick, Jesus and Ezekiel decide to trust Dwight and move forward with their attempt to end the Saviors' reign. The three communities come together to formulate a plan, but when Negan shows up early to collect his offering from Alexandria, things get very out of hand. In this volume, Rick leads his newly formed "army" with the Hilltop and the Kingdom in an attack against the Sanctuary. Things go smoothly at first as Rick's forces manage to trap Negan inside the Sanctuary, but as they attack Negan's outposts, many of Rick's closest friends begin dying. They wonder if their initial victory was just luck. Eventually, Negan mounts a counterattack on Alexandria, and things go from bad to worse.

Negan, I think, is probably my favourite character in the series. He believes that his rule is the only way to keep the communities off the Washington D.C. area alive and bring civilisation back to the world. His love of violence undermines his goal, and the brutal survivors under his command often abuse the other survivor groups. Negan is an unpredictable sociopath who'll kill anyone on a whim, but he's also a legitimate badass survivor who startles Rick himself. Like other criminal survivor group leaders, he seems to Rick. More specifically, he's what Rick could have become in the Prison Arc, a sadistic leader who justifies his harsh actions by saying that they are for the greater good. Negan's signature scene in the comic (in Issue #100) was acclaimed as a fantastic turning point in the comic series that established him as an intriguing character and caused a dent in the main characters.

Five stars because of Negan! The walkers in this book are not that important, just details... the living are the real threat this time.
Right in the beginning, they are attacked by the Saviors; we see an important loss for Rick's group... a message for Negan; but he gets the message and makes a triumphant entrance: "Lucille is thirsty."
Hilltop does not offer help... so Rick goes back to the community ... to find it ... well, different. Can Rick fight this Negan? They're not fighting back? ... Releasing even a prisoner?
Jesus had really better be allied with Rick's group... otherwise...
A visit from Negan to the community; his controversial sense of humor... Jesus introduces Ezekiel to Rick; can he be the best ally Rick needs to fight Negan? Two smiths in two communities: good for making bullets.
In a moment of truth, Jesus is the real savior... At the Hilltop, Maggie: "I believe in Rick Grimes." Soon after, she is the savior for the moment... Can Negan win this war?

1. Carl, nehéz nem szétbaszni minden, amiért a körülötted lévő felnőttek dolgoztak?

2.
Trust me, I got a couple cup sizes on her.

Lots of zombie thrills and chills. Reading this book counts as a couple of hours of weight-lifting workout, I think.
