Love this series!

The characters are wonderfully witty and so fun to follow, with page-turner stories.

The author has even given us a bit of suspense to keep our heartrate up along with the steam-heat these characters generate.

You'll only be sorry if you miss each and every one!

What a great read.
This book had all my favourite tropes. Enemies to lovers
Marriage of convenience
Billionaire romance

Loved that the author makes her mfc (Ava) strong and independent. I loved Ava from the very beginning of this book. At first I wasnt sure how I felt about the MMC (Lucas) but over time you see such a sensitive protective side of him that you have no choice to fall in love with him.
I can’t wait to read about all the Valeur siblings.

The blurb sounded promising. The book was not.

I expected some rivalry and office romance. There was none.

Lucas was a manwhore because his parents were so in love and he thought his father cheated on his mother and witnessed how his father couldn’t live without his wife. What?

Ava was supposed to be smart and hard working. We saw none of that. There were two or three scenes where she came to the office, had lunch and left. Or read a file and left. There was nothing corporate going on. Her father was a fraud. How did she solve all that? She didn’t.

Lucas was suddenly drowning in his love for Ava. Why? Because she was supposed to be all that which we didn’t see in the book. Then he throws in 10 million dollars for a parrot centre because she loves her parrot. What?!

The way things were happening was childish. Him calling her a frigid bitch and his sister saying that she will spit in her face when she sees her. They don't even know eachother other than they were enemies because their fathers were. But when Ava meets his sister they are suddenly bff's?

Some scenes just came out of the blue, just for the sake of drama but didn’t fit at all in the story, that picture of Lucas with OM, how she left before him but arrived very late after him at the office, her towing his car (she has a tow-truck now?), her having daddy issues so that the retired playboy can save her, how she tells him to leave and give her time just to find out it's his birthday and changes her mind and takes him home.

Thank god we were spared any scenes with him and OW which is usually there with the playboy trope.

This is a series I can't get enough of.

Yummy characters, steamy hot scenes, so much humor, and stories I don't want to end.

Lucas was as unexpected as Ava and I couldn't have loved this book more.

I think I know who the culprit is and why, but it's all guess work at this point so I'm definitely waiting (impatiently) to devour the next book to see if I'm on the right track.

Lucas is the second book in Winter's series, The Valeur Billionaires. This contemporary, billionaire romance features Ava Gant and Lucas Valeur.

Lucas has a reputation for being a little bit of a playboy, but as his brother Logan stepped away from Valeur Enterprises, the family business, Lucas is required to step up. His father is ready to hand over the reins but Lucas needs to prove that he is ready to be at the helm, and appropriately represent the company. His father tells him that he has until the end of the year to get married and demonstrate that he is committed and responsible.

Ava is the only child of Michael Gant. He recently handed over Gant Construction to his daughter, expecting her to restore it to greatness, no matter the cost. Success is the only option, regardless of how it is achieved.

The key to Gant Construction's survival is via Valeur Enterprises. Unfortunately, Michael Gant and Peter Valeur are nemeses, each accusing the other of cheating them on a deal. Ava, knowing she has to try, arranges to meet Valeur at a restaurant and try to convince him to allow Gant Construction to take on the general contracting role in an important job. Unsurprisingly, Lucas refuses to hand over the project.

As is frequently the case, a photograph of Lucas and Ava was taken leading folks to believe that he selected her as his suitable partner. While that was not what occurred, Lucas see the situation as an opportunity - a marriage of convenience. In exchange for her agreeing to wed, he would provide Gant Construction with the funds required to keep the company afloat. Of course the contract he offers her also gives him rights over her family's business and he intends to crush it. He is delighted to not only be able to avenge his father, but also to destroy her and her father's company.

"It's perfect. She gets in bed with the enemy, thinking she's saving her daddy's legacy, and instead signs its death warrant. By the time she realizes she's just a pawn it my end game, it'll be too late."

What Lucas did not anticipate was falling for the beautiful, sassy, and very capable woman who never hesitates to put him in his place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers story with two fiery characters who cannot help but be attracted to one another. While they have very different back stories, they both have daddy issues and a need to prove themselves. Watching their walls break down, and learn to trust each other was moving.

I believe Cora's story is next and I am definitely looking forward to it!

Lucas is having too much fun to want to return home and take over the family business. According to his father, it's time to clean up his act and his life. Time to get married?!
Ava just took over her father's company and he lets her know everyday, for all of her life, that she's not fit for the job because she's not a man. The son that he wanted. He ran it into the ground and has left her to take the fall.
Why does it have to be her father's nemesis that is the developer she's up against. Her father is willing to "sacrifice" his daughter in ANY way possible to close the deal. (yes, her father is a real piece of. .WORK and you will totally agree with me!) Is this what he had in mind when he put her in charge in the first place?
It seems everyone in her life wants to use her. Her life isn't good and she feels so alone.
When she meets Lucas instead of his father, she's shocked but goes on with her presentation even though he makes her nervous.
He knows all about her failing company and her dire straits.
They're like oil and water. Then when they're caught up in the tabloids about having a relationship, Lucas uses it to make her an offer.
She's desperate and he knows it. He'll ruin her and get revenge for his family in one blow. And he won't even feel bad about it.
What he didn't plan on was her sass and strong spirit. That and the fact that she actually turns her on and for that matter, neither did she!
He has no use for love. She's never known love or felt affection.
Can they last two years? Will hate reign or will desire turn each other's plans around?
When threats to his family target him, can he keep her safe?
Family secrets, suspense, twists and turns and the unknown make this one great story!
I think I might have the mystery figured out. Do you?.

A billion-dollar vendetta. A sassy heiress. And one foul-mouthed parrot determined to spill all their secrets.

Lucas Valeur's revenge is a dish best served with a prenup.
His plan? Marry Ava Gant, dismantle her family's company, and walk away unscathed. But his fake wife's sharp tongue and hidden vulnerabilities crack his icy facade, igniting a fire he can't control.

As their pretend marriage erupts into all-too-real passion, family skeletons come dancing out of closets. With shadowy threats circling, Lucas and Ava must decide if their love is worth fighting for—or if this corporate merger of hearts is too hostile to survive.

This contemporary Valeur billionaires romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building that is engulfed by darkness, danger, and grit, and characters that are exuding power, captivating, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with Lucas, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy sizzling passion, lust, desire, and spice with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, romantic comedy that will leave readers laughing out loud, swooning, and reflexively checking their prenups, a marriage of convenience, suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, heartfelt emotions, deception, secrets, drama, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with Lucas and explicit romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly dangerous and unforgettable.

This is book 2 in the Valeur Billionaires series – I recommend reading book 1 first, not just because it is equally as brilliant, but because there is an overarching plot across the series. Lucas Valeur and Ava Gant have grown up understanding that their families hate each other because of a business deal in the past. Lucas needs to clean up his act if he’s going to take over the family business from his father and he’s told that marriage is the only way to do it. When Ava meets him to discuss a business proposal, he decides that a marriage proposal will not only get him to CEO but also enable him to take revenge on the Gant family by ruining everything Ava cares about. The relationship between these two is heated from the start – by hatred, by desire, in words and in deeds – and every scene between them feels like it could explode in any direction at any moment. The author has created two feisty and complex characters who have past trauma and vulnerabilities and anxieties to contend with but who open up to each other as their defences crack and secrets are revealed. The way they speak to each other is hostile, provocative and sizzling and the heat level between them is off the charts. This is a brilliant enemies to lovers story, and the emotions, drama and angst along the way make this a book you won’t be able to put down. Recommended for readers who love brilliant dialogue, strong characters, twists and turns and very steamy scenes.

4.5 stars for Lucas and Ava's story.

Lucas is trying his hardest to prove to his father he is worthy of being Valeur's CEO and taking over his father's spot. He's in the spotlight as the family's playboy son, but is he really? He's truly a loveable character.
Ava Gant is from the Valeur's rival family. She's trying hard to prove to her father that she is worthy of taking over the family company. He shows no love or trust for her. She may lack confidence that she'll ever find love but she's no pushover.

Lucas is given the ultimatum from his father that in order for him to secure his position he needs to show the board he's changed his ways. To do that he needs to get married. Lucas comes up with a brilliant plan to marry the rivals daughter, Ava. In doing this he will take over her company and end it so she has nothing when all is said and done. She agrees to meet with him and discuss his proposal. They stay married for 2 years, he has power over her company for all decisions and will pay the company's debts, no cheating on either side and no smex--yada yada. What happens when a repressed girl and a playboy spend time together? You guessed it! But did you?

In this second book, are so many twists! I had trouble putting this one down because I really didn't always know where this was going. There's drama, spicey times, mystery and humor all rolled into a story with great main characters and support characters. There is a bit of a cliffhanger to this mystery. You get more from book 1 but not everything so now off to read the next book!

Ava Gant is tasked with partnering with Lucas Valeur for a development project. She desperately needs the partnership to support her family business and pull it out of the red, and save face with her relentless father. The only problem is Lucas has no intention of burying the hatchet between the two firms and offering his support. Until he is forced to. He needs to change his playboy image and get married. She is the perfect choice—because he despises her. Everything about her agitates him, and he has one goal in mind after she pushes him too far, to destroy her and her company. Marry her, destroy her and Gant Construction, and walk away a very happy, wealthy, successful man and the newly
minted CEO of Valeur.

Ava despises Lucas and everything he stands for. But she needs his help to save Gant Construction. Terms are easy. Marry him in a marriage of convenience and all is well that ends well.

Unless the sparks between them detonate before they each get what they want.

I love this series!! Lucas follows Logan as the second book and it is pure fire. I can’t ❤️ these two enough. Every page was so good, and I was on the edge of my seat to see just how this unhappily wedded bliss would turn out. I can’t wait for the next in the series!.

After enjoying book 1 of Logan, book 2 of his brother Lucas is just as enjoyable and adds to the background mysterious intrique of family secret to be unveiled. This book like book 1 ends with a twist and another piece of the puzzle revealed but excited for next book to continue with this interesting Valeur family, secrets, mysteries and romantic complex entanglements.
The book has many elements and starts with the enemies to lovers of Lucas and Ava and once they come together as the sexual tension draws them closer the last third of the book returns to the family secret, mystery and background story that threatens the safety of the family members. Lucas and Ava make two great characters with vulnerability, sassy, steamy encounters, great banter and such chemistry.
I enjoy Karin Winter's books and writing as great mix of humour, romance and intrigue with great characters, details that add to the story and characters and the books have me laughing, crying and fully hooked into the story, characters and world of the Valeur Family.
Highly recommend, enjoyable reading and entertainment of a rollercoaster ride. A series that will be read and re-read to bring me into an enjoyable world of steamy romantic adventure.

This is the second in this series it's not necessary to read Logan first as this can still be read as a standalone, although I enjoyed knowing the characters at the beginning. Ava Gant comes across as an uptight old maid who's dress sense is very straight laced although sophisticated at the sametime. Although she's taking over the construction company from her father which he has run into the ground and is borderline going bankrupt. She knows he's set her up to fail telling her to do what ever is necessary to save the company. Lucas never thought he'd stand a chance of becoming CEO of the family business but since Logan retired he now is in the running. Except the board doesn't like his playboy image so his father tels him to marry to improve his image. Can Ava save her business. Can Lucas change people's minds about him. With the fued that exists between their two families can they become allies and help each other. With Ava's parrot taking centre stage this is a brilliant story that will grip you and keep you reading. Past secrets always get found out and can enemies really can become lovers. Read the book and find out you won't regret it

Lucas is the second book in the Valeur Billionaires contemporary romance series that finds brother Lucas being put on notice by his father that he has to clean up his act because he is going to be the next CEO of the company after older brother Logan resigned.
He has to marry within a year so that the board of directors will accept his nomination and the family retains control of the company.
Marriage is not a prospect Lucas wants to contemplate until an opportunity presents itself to take out revenge against a rival company Gant who needs an influx of capital quickly to avoid bankruptcy.
Ava Gant is on his radar for the respectable fiancée he needs and he is her companies salvation.
But as always the best laid plans usually don’t go as wanted and for Lucas catching feelings for Ava throws everything out the window.
This was a wonderful story with lots of angst, drama, mystery, passion, family dynamics, emotion, surprises, and engaging characters.
The writing was fluid and immersive and has an overarching storyline which has me looking forward to the next book featuring sister Cora.

This is the 2nd book in the series and it doesn’t disappoint, whilst you don’t have to read the first one to enjoy this one, it introduce you to them.

Billionaire Lucas is a living a playboy lifestyle with no signs of wanting to stop it…well until his Dad puts his foot down..

Ava has taken over her family business but her Dad never fails to remind her that only a man can lead companies…except he hasn’t ran the company well and they are in desperate need for a decent contract.

The job that Ava needs unfortunately is from the Valeurs who happened to be enemies of her family the Gants. There has been an ongoing feud between the fathers.

So, cue Ava and Lucas coming together as expected it’s not a smooth journey especially when Lucas suggests they get married to annoy his father things become interesting…I won’t spoil all the twists and turns as it’s a great read with good characters and storyline.

Can’t wait for the next one…Cora’s story.

Playboy Lucas Valeur is being reigned in by his father and what better way than proposing a marriage contract between him and Ava Gant, daughter of their greatest enemy, Michael Gant, owner of Gant Construction. Ava has no choice, her father is controlling and cold; this is what's expected of her to save the company.
As the weeks go by, despite their distrust and dislike of each other, feelings start to get in the way - very inconvenient. It also becomes clear that there are hidden agendas on both sides. Slowly, these two start to work together, realising they've more in common than they thought.

A thoroughly enjoyable read with good characters and storyline.

There is still the ongoing threat to the Valeur family. I think I've worked out where that's from, but I'll have to wait for Cora's story to see if I'm right!.

This is book 2 in Winter's The Valeur Billionaires and while a wonderful addition to the series, can be read as a standalone (but I love them better together). Our main characters are Lucas and Ava, both powerhouses in their own right as leaders in the corporate world and yet their families have been enemies for years and that hatred has filtered down to them. A matter of convivence, opportunity and need changes everything and these once enemies become so much more. I adore the banter between these two and how their fights are all but foreplay. A wonderfully well written and captivating romance read that has me begging for more. I love how both Lucas and Ava are so much alike in so many ways, their strength and yet beneath it all there is a vulnerability due to hurts from their family past. I just loved the two and how they grew together. So great! Can't wait for more!

Marrying your rival

This is book two in the series and I recommend reading Logan first as there is a bit of crossover with storyline and characters.

Playboy Lucas Valeur has been told to stop his partying to ensure he can convince the board to let him take over as CEO of Valeur Industries now that his big brother Logan has left the company for better things. So he comes up with a solution to marry his rival, Ava Gant. She needs his help to keep her company afloat and appease her father.
So what happens when the two of them start to actually have feelings for each other.

Watch the tension rise as these two go from enemies to lovers and as usual a bit of suspense thrown in for good measure.

Loved Lucas’ story and the chemistry between him and Ava is off the charts.
Can’t wait for book three.

I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.

Ava and Lucas

Not my favorite couple in this series. Ava is fiercely independent but under the thumb of an overbearing and hateful father. Lucas is a man child who is out for revenge. These two would never marry under normal circumstances but what’s normal about a marriage of convenience? They have chemistry and attraction. Lucas flirts constantly and everything he says is a sexual innuendo. Ava has so much angst it’s coming out of her ears. There’s no trust on either side.

I enjoyed seeing Lucas grow and realize he cares more about Ava than he does about revenge. And that he was wrong about quite a few things. I loved how Ava met Lucas halfway and trusted him with not just her heart, but also her company. These two had to work hard for their HEA. There’s an ongoing mystery here that started with the previous book and it does end in a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the next one.

I received an advance copy for an honest review.

Lucas and Ava are both backed into a corner, and although Ava has an idea of what Lucas needs and is going through, Lucas has no idea what Ava has been living through. As Ava slowly opens up to Lucas about how her father treats and views her, Lucas begins to open up to her about his greatest fears. Who knew truth or dare as an adult could reveal so much.

With this being the second book in the series the continuity was there, character development was well done, and the story moved forward without loosing key elements.

I'm very much looking forward to the next book/s in the series. They can't come soon enough.

This is the second book in this series and it was just as good at the first. This book focuses on Lucas and Ava and can be read as a stand-alone. This is enemies to lovers and opposites attract. It's complete with a betrayal and an epic grovel and hard-won forgiveness. I love a story where the characters are relatable (not talking about their wealth/social standing) and you can see their growth throughout the story.

This book also continues with trying to figure out who has a grudge against the Valeurs and I have some theories as to the who and why. I'm very excited to read book 3. This family has gotten under my skin and I can't wait to finish reading all of their stories.

I didn't think it could get any better than Logan but Lucas blew my mind. This book threw my feelings in all directions. I cried for Ava's childhood and the injustice done to her. I was angered by Lucas' plans, I swooned from all the love in the book and got hot from all the spice. And I got so curious about the secrets and I want so badly to know who is behind the threats and why.

This book was amazing. I loved it so very very much. I just couldn’t stop reading, this is quite a thick book but I read it in just 1 day. Loved it! Definitely 5 stars, would give more if I could! The cliffhanger was frustrating in the best sense of the word, I just need to know what happens next. I can't wait for Cora's story!

Has all the tropes of the genre, similar plot and story to others you may love. Typical love/hate fake marriage romance, meets the formula for the genre. Character driven and great banter. Lucas is probably the most conceited and selfish man you're ever going to meet. Ava is the most pretentious and naive FMC. Both have plenty of scope to grow throughout the novel, and various circumstances bring about their change.

Their constant feuding fills most of the story but a mysterious back story does begin to develop when Lucas's car gets keyed and Ava discovers company accounts don't add up.

Though predictable it's an enjoyable read. Part of a series.

Lucas has no interest in getting married and settling down. His father, wants to turn the company over to him, but his requirement is that he needs to get married. Ava, just starting to take over her father's company that isn't doing well (which he lets her know constantly) due to her father's actions. One way to save her company? Ava goes to a meeting thinking that she is making a presentation for Lucas 'father, however, Lucas attends the meeting.. They do not get along. However, knowing that their families do not get long, Lucas decides to help Ava by marrying her, and then gaining control of her company to destroy her family.. but plans always find a way of changing! This is the second book in the Valeur Billionaires series and was one that was hard to put down until the very end!

This book is an incredible billionaire romance that is charming, suspenseful, and a definite page-turner. I immediately fell in love with both Ava and Lucas and I absolutely adored reading their amazing story. This is the second book in The Valeur Billionaires series. This is the first book that I have had the pleasure to read, and she did NOT disappoint me in anyway whatsoever with this amazing billionaire romance. I’m definitely going to read the first book of this series and I’m looking forward to seeing what the next book in this series will be about. I would recommend Lucas for anyone to reading this breathtaking romance book.

Lucas is enjoying his playboy lifestyle until his father makes a move to stop it. And so the idea of a fake marriage with Ava, the daughter of his family's arch enemy is born. Better yet it is the answer to two problems, appeasing his father and destroying the family of his enemies. As you would imagine, a plan destined to fail.

The dialogue between the two main characters is feisty and entertaining. Add in an unseen enemy causing trouble and this is an enjoyable addition to the series. Each of the three books can be read separately, but given that there is a an overarching storyline, they are better enjoyed if read in order.

In his mind Lucas had the perfect plan but execution of it is anything but. Marrying Ava was supposed to go off without a hitch but her fiery spirt and insecurities drew him in and the wall around his heart started to crumble. Their families are at odds and his plan was falling apart. He and Ava's relationship was beginning to take root but as family skeletons begin to surface will it tear them apart. This story had me connecting with these two to see how it plays out between the families.

I thought Logan's book was amazing, this one topped it! Lucas and Ava are spunky and true enemies to lovers! Their banter and pranks on each other were evil and hilarious! I had to stop several times just to laugh! Also loved Cartman, he was a great addition! This book had everything you could want and keeps building from the first in the series! Another great Valeur brother's book. This time playboy Lucas finds his match with family rival Ava. Their fathers hate each other both claiming the other tried to destroy their business. Lucas enters a contract marriage with Ava to destroy her construction firm. Cartman the parrot brings humour and add that to the mystery and intrigue to produce this must-read.
