What if science was only a threshold to the paranormal? What if Good and Evil were actual, living forces engaged in a constant battle for predominance? ...and what if such battle was to take place inside your own mind?

Looking for a cure for his debilitating head injury, Victor volunteers for a radical medical procedure at R.C. Labs, a mysterious research facility located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest in Ketchikan, Alaska. What he encounters there is totally unexpected. Yvette, the love of his life—a girl he thought he'd lost years ago—is also a patient at R.C. Labs. They reconnect, and with the hope of a cure, it looks—for once—like life is going Victor's way.

But after the procedure, Victor awakens to a reality that is no longer his own. The so called procedure has endowed him with paranormal abilities—including telekinesis: the power to move objects with the mind alone. Sarah, a beautiful medical intern—who has saved Victor from dissection—soon reveals the truth about R.C. Labs and the terrifying side-effect of Victor’s procedure. A mysterious energy recently found in the atmosphere is now-being absorb by Victor’s brain, fueling his new abilities. Unfortunately, the continued absorption of this energy will soon begin to corrupt Victor’s volition, inciting an unnatural, malevolent behavior that will ultimately warp him into an inhumane being. One too dangerous to be kept alive.

Fearing Yvette would suffer a similar fate, Victor embarks on a suicide mission to rescue her from the belly of R.C. Labs. In the process, he meets Damian, his experimental counterpart—who's also trying to save his captured wife. Together they stand against RC Labs' SWAT forces. But as Victor is forced to use his new powers to protect Yvette and Sarah, Damian's wife gets killed in the middle of a havoc. Damian blames Victor and let his rage take control of his volition.

Damian’s powers increase tenfold after his complete turnabout to evil, and he swears vengeance against Victor, Sarah, and Yvette. Now, in order to protect the ones he loves, Victor will need to gain a power he can only achieve by turning to evil himself…

*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***

I was contacted by the author when he saw my penchant for sci-fi and paranormal romance. I read the blurb and knew that I was interested in reviewing it. I often find male authors tend to write the romance side as an afterthought. But I found myself impressed with the author's style and the romance was just right. The plot and characters are well written and although it is a trilogy. The cliffhanger doesn't leave you frustrated.

In every book of human contest there seems to be a measure of the conflict between good and evil, between right and wrong. This book contains a very healthy measure of the conflict, enhanced by the notion that our brain's abilities can be increased, that telekinesis is within our grasp, give the right set of circumstances and treatment. Some of the story reflects in the necessities to deal with PBI, permanent brain injury, and the potential means of doing so. That brings up a lot of discussion of technical information about the brain, which, if true, is amazing by itself. I will leave you to discover the machinations of various doctors, and perhaps the DOD, and deal with those issues raised by the book. What you will find amazing in the story is the personal conflict of Victor Bellator over whether he will adopt the role of a "good" man or a "bad" man. Since there is a sequel in the works you will know his struggle continues after the story here is ended. For that I am thankful. I have yet to be sated with my desire to know the "rest of the story." A really good read.
