​Lina Ghaibeh is a comics and animation artist living in Beirut, and an associate professor at the American University of Beirut. She is director of the Mu'taz and Rada Sawwaf Arabic Comics Initiative​ at AUB, and coordinator of the graphic design program at the department of Architecture & Design. Her academic research focuses on Comics in the Arab world as part of contemporary Arab Culture, with her most recent articles Telling Graphic Stories of the Region: Arabic Comics after the Revolution, and From Behind the Doors Into the Streets: Women in Comics from the Arab World. Her animated shorts and comics art explore issues of identity, belonging and human rights, with Beirut as a site of inspiration, and have been screened and exhibited at several international film festivals and comics Salons.
