Step into a snow-covered world where ancient Christmas legends aren’t just stories, they’re alive.
Taye has dedicated her research to proving the world doesn’t need religion, but when she studies an ancient religious site, she stumbles into a world totally dependent on God. The Native is a land living in eternal winter, preparing for the Birth of Christ. Taye falls for its shimmering forests, ancient power, and cannot ignore the mysterious guardian who is far more than he seems. But with the Birth of Christ so near, darkness stirs beneath the ice and legends awaken. Taye gets a firsthand look at the true meaning of Christmas, and a good look at those who oppose it. Krampus, evil elves, Mouse Kings, and a Sugar Plum Fairy. This fantasy world seems like a dream come true, or her greatest nightmare. If she wants to survive, Taye must learn to trust the God who brought her here—and the protector sworn to keep her safe.
Bell of the Native is a cozy, romantic adventure perfect for readers who love fantasy touched by wonder, redemption, and the true Light of the season. This is a clean novel with sweet kisses only.
2.5 stars. I feel like this book has a lot of potential and is incredibly creative but it needs editing. The POV switches also felt a little jarring to me. The creativity is impressive though.
This book is amazing. It shows how the author is very creative and knows the word of God. I love how she put it in Saint Nicholas and Krampus, but she also displayed how the holly tree is a symbol symbolism for Christ on the cross. Ughhh amazing! I just love the relationship between "Belle" and the Guardian. I also love how when Dontaye faints we get sucked into a memory. And in that memory he shows us how deep and close her relationship is with Ezra.
I know the Guardian only gets like 1 or 2 POVs but they are very detailed and got some action to it lol.
"The people closest to us are the hardest to remember because we casually spend every day with them. But someone you don't see often has a stronger grip on your memories because you want to remember them in case you don't see them again" I never looked at it from this point of view and WOW was it eye opening. This book has made me realize I don't cherish the people Im closest to.

Bell of the Native is a very beautiful book with a lot of potential. I especially loved how, at the end, we come to understand that each district represents Dontaye’s life and her journey with Jesus. The story is emotional and, at times, bittersweet.
The Guardian was also amazing. Yonah was one of my favorite characters, and I really loved him. The metaphors throughout the book are very beautiful, especially the way everything connects back to Jesus.
However, the book was difficult for me to read at times because it really needs more editing. Some parts felt inconsistent or lacked cohesion, especially at the beginning with Dontaye’s amnesia. Because of this, it took me a long time to finish the book, and the experience became a bit frustrating.
I also wish some of the metaphors and realizations had been noticed by Dontaye herself instead of always being explained by the Guardian.
Overall, the story is beautiful and meaningful, and it has so much potential!
I really liked the story and the world it was playing in. The book holds a lot of creativity. It is a bit difficult to follow the story at some points but otherwise I enjoyed reading it.
