Bichoned to Death is the tasty second book in the Barkview Mysteries cozy mystery series. If you like characters living on the edge, surprising twists, and plenty of paw-inspired humor, then you’ll love C.B. Wilson’s bark worthy adventure.
The award-winning author of the critically acclaimed Barkview Mysteries series, C.B. Wilson’s love of writing was spurred by an early childhood encounter with a Nancy Drew book where she precociously wrote what she felt was a better ending. After studying at the Gemology Institute of America, she developed a passion for researching lost, stolen and missing diamonds–the big kind. Her fascination with dogs and their passionate owners inspired Barkview, California, the dog friendliest city in America.
C.B. lives in Peoria, AZ with her husband. She is an avid pickleball player who enjoys traveling to play tournaments. She admits to chocoholic tendencies and laughing out loud at dog comics.
I so enjoyed both these books. The second was free so I had to purchase the first one because you really need to read them in order to get the full impact! It helps to love dogs even if you are not obsessed!
After experiencing the wonderful world of the town of Barkview, I excitedly looked forward to reading this book about Cat (Catalina) Wright and Bayle, a charming Bichon Frisse belonging to Rayelle, the owner of Bichon Bisquets !!
When Cat feels uneasy about Rayelle, she decides to go to Bichon Bisquets to make sure everything is alright! To her consternation, she finds Howard Looc's Border Collie acting agitated, belligerent and she peers through the glass to spot something suspicious!! She calls her Uncle G, the police Chief! When he arrives and manages to get into the store to discover the dead body of Howard Looc, stabbed with the distinctive Bichon knife that clearly belongs to Rayelle!! As Uncle G plans to take Rayelle to the police station for questioning, Bayle gets into the care of Cat, who else??? Cat labels all food containers meant for Bayle's consumption and they go her studio at KDOG and onwards to her home!
To know what happens next with the Cat - Bayle interactions, Cat's efforts to find the killer, the budding relationship with Russ, one needs to read this thoroughly entertaining book.
The author has a beautiful style of narrating the story and her characters - all the humans and the canines are down to earth and extremely likable!!! Both the humans and dogs have a lot of idiosyncrasies that leave the readers laughing loudly!
Thanks CB Wilson! I am off to read your next book!!!
I love dogs, but even for me there is too much in Barkview. The story is cute. The characters, mostly dogs, with a few owners thrown in, are fun. Catalina used to be a reporter and her desire for truth is overpowering for her. She works hard to solve the murder for which her friend is being held. “Cat” is not a dog person, but she must care for her friend’s dog, Bayle! while Rayelle is in jail. Cat, and the reader learns about flyball. There are interesting ideas and info about dogs, people and family. Worth the read!
I have read 4 of C.B. Wilson's cozy Barkview Mysteries and this one was just as good as the others. It certainly revolves around the dogs of the town and Cat, the main character surprises you. She is not really a dog person. But she certainly can be dogged in solving mysteries. I am not going into to more as I do not like to spoil things for other readers and do believe that someone needs to make their own ideas on any book. But if you are a dog person you will enjoy this witty novel. Thanks so much for the good read!
This book was a fun read. I have 4 dogs of my own and I could relate to Cat and Bayle, the Bichon Frise. Pets make you laugh a lot which is free entertainment. I could actually hear the barking and the chaos while reading the story and I was not even close in guessing who did it so if you enjoy pets and a mystery read this series. You will not be disappointed.
I received this e book free from the author. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I've read the first two books in this series. They were informative. I certainly learned alot about the world od dog shows in book one and agility competions in book two. Book two sort of went around in circles in the beginning. It didn't seem logical that the individual who was in jail "for her safety" would be transfered to a federal facility . There isn't alot of excitment in the finish.hhIt's a good, clean cozy for dog lovers.
Cat has a feeling calls Sandy ti meet her at Bichon Bisquets. There is someone inside slumped over. She's knocked to the ground by Bolt. Howard's dog. They find Howard is dead stabbed with a knife from Rayelle's place and she's arrested and Cat now has to take care of Bayle while Rayelle is in jail. Bayle is the new star player in the fly-ball tournament. Cat has to help figure out who killed Howard. Good story and characters. '
Furbabies and furkids, rescue, adoption all words invented by the animal rights extremists to change the way we view animals so they can pass laws to take our pets away from us. Dogs are magnificent animals offering unconditional love, loyalty and honor far more than any human. I will never denigrate my dogs by calling them "furbabies" and calling myself a pet parent. I am a proud owner of intelligent, healthy purebred DOGS. www.naiaonline.org
Cat has to babysit a high strung dog while his master is in jail for the murder of an inventor. Trying to keep the dog under control, on his diet and controlling him is quite the chore on top of looking for the killer. Cat gets help from her detective friend but between dog care and killer hunting, doesn't have time to do anything else. Good read!
Bichoned to Death was fun to read for the dogs, the human characters and for the complex mystery. While these dogs are more intuitive than and any of mine, they are so realistic and precious that they would carry book by themselves. BUT they don't have to. The mystery is well done and the characters are awesome. I would never have figured it out but the answer was perfectly plausible.
It was a little slow in the beginning, but by the end it all came together. There were a lot of suspects and motives. It was a little hard to keep track of people and motives. But it did keep me guessing, which was good. It was cute and sweet with the dogs.

Couldn’t really get into this one…. Too many characters (humans) and way too many dogs (characters) to keep with. I’ve owned a Bichon, and he was a great dog… and that’s why I picked this book, …but it just didn’t really work for me.
Another cosy mystery with Cat, who's friend, Rayelle , is under suspicion of a murder. Cat agrees to look after Bayle, her Bichon, dog, while investigating the crime. I like that Cat, doggy sits a different breed of dog in each book.
Although I really enjoyed this book. It was confusing at time. I think I was getting the people confused. I think I am going to have to read parts of it over again. However, I am a dog lover and really did like the book.
Body ones to Death: A dog lovers cozy mystery: Bark view mystery book 2
bark view is all about dogs and a fly ball racing. Town is difficult to newcomers. So a murder occurs ,a newcomer accused, and lots of twists, superstition, secrets and a little romance.
Another wonderful book in this series by author C.B.Wilson. Cat is a wonderful character. Love that a different dog breed is used in each book. Can't wait to read book three. Loved reading...
At first I didn't think I would like the book. The more I read the more I couldn't put it down. I had to find out who did it. It was a very funny story.
