This book is spiiiiiiiicccccyyyyyy! I knew it was a forbidden romance with an age gap, and I knew it was going to be a little spicy but wow was I shocked. I was hoping my husband didn’t look over at my kindle 🫣😂
This story follows Sloane, 18 year old daughter of the President and her 38 year old body guard, Callan. It is definitely a fast paced, erotic love story with secrets & betrayal.
I do feel like the spice took over the first half of the book, so it did start to lose me a little bit.. however, the second half pulled me back in. The secrets that are brought to light and Callan going feral had me intrigued and left me satisfied with the story!
Also, Ana is like the mom from Mean Girls. “I’m not like a regular mom, I’m a cool mom” 🤭

If you're in the mood for a spicy read that promises a fast-paced burn, then you need to look no further. This book has quickly become one of my absolute by Cassandra.

Ok everyone! This one has left me with mixed emotions. I’m going to be completely honest, I don’t know how I feel. I am going to explain to my best abilities without any spoilers.

So to start, the beginning half of the book is where I have my mixed emotions with. I understand instalove, I do, but I personally felt it was a bit too fast. I felt like I didn’t even know the characters’ personalities. I just wish there was a bit more conversation between the main characters, just so I had an understanding of who they were and acted. I will admit the second half of the book was way better and gave me a better perspective about the characters.
BUT! The first half of the book brought the spice! Definitely made up for me (AGAIN personally) for the lack of background. There were a couple kinks that just aren’t my thing but I didn’t mind it in there and still enjoyed the spice.
The end, was the best part for me! I had a couple curveballs thrown my way that I was not expecting at all! It definitely had me guessing a lot!
SO my main opinion is yes give it a go! Because what may not work for me, could work for so many others! So if you like age gap, instalove, forbidden love, and forced proximity, this is a read you should try!

Let me just say this read grabbed me by the collar and refused to let go! I went into this book thinking, "Okay, let’s gooo” (I’m an avid DARK romance reader, don’t hate me.) and by the end, I was sitting there like, "HOW is it over already?!" Sloane, the president’s daughter, and Callan, her much older bodyguard, had me biting my nails and blushing furiously at the same time. Forbidden love? Age gap? And all that spice? SIGN ME UP.
The fire between these two had me absolutely obsessed. Every glance, every touch, every whispered word— good gawd, I love it. I was rooting for them the whole way through, grinning like a fool at all the tension. Callan is the kind of protective, broody man that makes you want to fan yourself, and Sloane? She’s fierce, but also so vulnerable in a way that makes you love her.
Also, can we talk about Sloane’s mom, Ana? I didn’t think she’d be such a standout, but I seriously adored her! She’s the secret MVP of the book, for real.
And that ending? That EPILOGUE?! I literally gasped. The whole thing left me emotionally wrecked (in the best way), and now I need a moment to recover. Honestly, if you love a forbidden romance with the perfect mix of angst and spice, His Red Carnation will leave you swooning and probably a little breathless…..and maybe on your knees barking for Callan 🤭

I love a bodyguard romance, and the premise was great! The president’s daughter, and her super hot bodyguard who also happen’s to be her dad’s best friend?! Sign me up!
This book is immediate instalust/instalove and I personally prefer books with a slower burn. It didn’t feel authentic or believable at all to me which turned me off a bit, I think. It was insanely spicy though and was hot, hot, HOT!! The spice takes over a bit towards the middle and I got really sidetracked from the plot, it got a bit lost to me.. but the last 30% or so ramped up the plot and was great!
Overall there were a lot of great parts of this book, but I feel like it was lacking a bit.

Sloane just turned 18 and she’s determined to seduce her hot new bodyguard Callan when his muscles and tattoos win her over but he’s 20 years older than her and happens to be her president dad’s bestfriend from when they were SEAL’s and Callan happens to have a crazy ex gf who will do everything in her power to come between them after learning of their relationship and how happy they are. Will their age gap be a problem? will their public relationship tear the presidents reputation apart?
First and foremost, this was too instalovey for me like I find it hard to believe that they fell in love in 24 hours and are basically already talking about getting married and Sloane wanting to initiate a relationship from the start pmo because it felt one-sided she kept bringing it up a lot until Callan finally agreed and went with the flow and it just didn’t feel genuine at all and that’s where this story was losing me like no build up or tension before they slept together by chapter 2 when Sloane was teasing him and succeeding in seducing him.
Callan bringing up the age gap and her getting mad every time he brought it up in just about every chapter just got too repetitive and Sloane doesn’t think about her President Dad’s reputation when she and Callan take the relationship to public places where they’ll be in the eye of the media.
Both just wants sex all the time and with so many sex scenes, it loses the plot and most of the time I wasn’t sure where the story was going.
Sloane being considered mature for her age by Callan pmo because she was actually very immature and and so was he.
Sloane having read spicy books and overusing “Daddy” in the bedroom or anywhere, got overly annoying.
There was no character growth for both throughout the whole story and just when I thought the book was getting a bit better or even interesting with the crazy ex gf kidnapping and betrayal thing, nope everything happened way too fast to be believable.

If you like insta-lust, fast paced relationship (like within 24hr) age gap, uber spicy Romance, then this will fit the bill for you.
I felt this moved fast and was very light on plot. They basically love each other and want to get married within days. There wasn't any tension build up at all, no push-pull. The mother is totally cool with it when she finds out. The pet names got annoying with overuse ("daddy" and"baby"). And I felt the FMC acted immature. Granted she is 18, but typically in age gaps the fmc is more mature for her age.
Callan seemed very respectable , and considering he was a SEAL and a high profile bodyguard, I find it hard to believe he would give in to lust within 24 of meeting her. He did have a difficult past alluded to which I liked seeing that bit of depth. But this isn't an emotional read or anything that is beyond surface level.
Overall this just wasn't my preference but it may be others' jam.

I got about 4% into this book and I was OBSESSED. Age gap - bodyguard? SAY LESS. The tension, the chemistry, the banter?! It was SO good. Sloane and Callan had such a strong connection despite him trying to deny it at first. Some things you just can’t fight. Also, can we talk about the spice?! Cause phew.😮💨 Just when I thought things couldn’t be more great, we get a bit of suspense and I plot twist that had me gasping, and I just ate it up. I read it in one sitting, couldn’t put it down, it’s got all of my favorite things and it’s one of my favorite reads now. The second I was done it had me instantly wanting more. I need more people to read it so I can yap about it.

I don’t really write reviews and one star felt too harsh as this just really isn’t my type of genre at all. Very basic, easy, predictable plot with just a ridiculous amount of spice which just felt unnecessary.

Firstly, miss ma’am what crack did you infuse this book with that resulted in me devouring it in just two days time?! Sloane and Callan’s love story is fast paced, no shortage of spice, and nothing I was expecting. Sloane is freshly eighteen and just happens to be the president’s daughter, while Callan is 38 and sworn to protect Sloane as her bodyguard who just happens to be her dad’s best friend and military buddy. From the beginning, Sloane shows she knows what she wants, but the forbiddance of her and Callan’s love just adds to just adds to the heat of their relationship. Her mom is the mom I wish I had and her dad well… Mr. President you sure are a jackwagon..
If you like things extra spicy this is the book for you, but have no fear you’ll still find a plot that leaves you wanting more. Thank you Cassandra for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review. I can’t wait to see how Ana’s story plays out next!

Where do I even begin?! Cassandra hit this one out of the park! It is so very spicy and has a good plot! Throw in a pinch of suspense and bingo! You have His Red Carnation!
We start off being introduced to Sloane, FMC, who is 18 years old. She is the daughter of the president of the USA, Jake. Her bodyguard, that she has had since she was little, has just passed away. At his funeral, she spots the most attractive man she has ever seen! She can tell he’s older than her. She has never seen him before and wonders who he is. Not long after the funeral Jake introduces Sloane to her new bodyguard… and wouldn’t you know it… it was the man from the funeral. His name was Callan! It turns out, he was one of her dad’s best friends. They served in the Navy together.
What’s worse than being attracted to your dad’s long time best friend who is now your bodyguard?! Is knowing he’s attracted to you as well and not giving in! Sloane is hard headed, smart, rebellious and wise beyond her years.
Callan… well… Callan is quite literally screwed! The moment he lays eyes on Sloane he knew he was done for. The $exual tension was palpable. But he couldn’t… wouldn’t… it’s his best friend’s barely legal daughter for whom he’s responsible for guarding! But Sloane doesn’t make it easy to resist… with her teasing and tempting him at every turn. Callan is protective and possessive when it comes to Sloane.
If you love slow burn, lots of spice, age gap, insta-love and forbidden love… then this is the book for you! Not to mention it has a phenomenal plot with unexpected twists laced with suspense! Eeekkk! Y’all just trust me.. don’t walk… run and get your copy! It won’t disappoint… I promise you that!!!

The spicy is super spicy! The plot is fanatic! And my goodness the twists! I planned to go to bed and finish this book tomorrow but I couldn’t! I had to know how it would end and what was gonna happen!
10/10 would reccomend picking this one up!!

3.5 ⭐️ this is an age gap, father’s friend, bodyguard read. The tension starts as soon as Callan and Sloane meet. Callan doesn’t last 24 hours before he’s giving into that tension. This is definitely a spicy book, though the timeline for Callan and Solane’s relationship was too quick to me. Building on that tension is what makes a good read for me.

Cassandra Vega, you wrote an amazing novel. How can you not fall in love with Callen and Sloane. Their love, no matter the age gap, was perfect. I love a good age gap, Daddy kink, protective dominant make/female story. That is what Cassandra delivered, plus more.
Callan is hired by his best friend Jake, president of the United States, to protect his 18 year old daughter Sloane. Her bodyguard passed away from an unsuspecting heart attack. The day of the funeral was when Callen and Sloane first laid eyes on each other. That is when the multraul attraction began.
Now, when they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Sloane and her mother, Ana, are the perfect example. Sloane, like her mother, is a firecracker. She is strong-willed, stubborn, and has that don't mess with me attitude. Sloane gets what she wants. And what she wants is Callen, which didn't take long. Their attraction was so instant.
Sloane didn't get to have the traditional teenage experience and is always hounded by the media and being recognized. This does bother her a lot. She just wants to be normal and enjoy life with Callen. She finished school early and is wise beyond her years. She is emotional but very mature and understanding for an 18 year old.
Callen is 20 years older and has a rocky pass, and is Jake best friend. He hesitates to give into his desires for Sloane, but he can't deny his feelings or Sloane. She is so perfect for him. Callen is goals and just loves her. Their love is so strong, and they overcome every obstacle thrown at them.
I was so angry with her dad for so many reasons, especially when he couldn't see Callen is the man for Sloane. I loved her mother's support of Sloane and her relationship with Callen. She understood but made it clear he was not to hurt her daughter. Sloane and her mother have this amazing bond. They are so supportive of each other.
His protectiveness is so strong, especially when someone from his past comes knocking on their door and dark secrets puts Sloane into danger. He will do anything to keep her safe and will stop at nothing to bring her home and keep her by his side.
The twist in the story that happens when Sloane is threatened will shock you, but no spoilers here, you will need to read the book. I gave this read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️ and the spice. Well, let's just say Cassandra Vega can write a very spicy scene. And how Callen and Sloane went at throughout the read, couldn't compare to rabbits that broke out of prision. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶♾️. I just fell in love with this read, that I can go on and on. I read it twice already! I loved the epilougue and hoping for Ana's story with a glimpse or three of Callen and Sloane because we love them and need more of them. Also, I loved how Ana and Sloane embraced their Spanish roots. Thank you, Cassandra Vega!

Even though she recently turned 18, Sloane shows herself to have a mature side and I loved her relationship with her mother. Ana was a strong, stand-your-ground woman who was an exceptional mother and wife. I enjoyed the suspense added to the story with the blackmail as it gave Callan’s character some background and depth. If you need a spicy age gap with a deliciously tattooed older man and a pretty, nubile, sassy young lady, this is it!

I am so thankful for the opportunity to read and review this book before it came out. This review contains spoilers!

Overall: ⭐ ⭐
Cassandra Vega has such a vivid imagination and it was so fun to take a look into her brain and learn about these characters. Overall I give this book 2 stars because I think that it has so much potential to be good. With some of my favorite tropes like: age gap, dad's best friend and forbidden romance, it has the bones for the making of a good book. Sadly this was not displayed in the story. I personally would have loved Callan and Sloane's relationship but it all felt a little too fast and childish. While I'm completely aware that Sloane is only 18 and feel like it's fine for her character to have a few childish tendancies, Callan is 38 and I feel like when reading this story they seem to be the same age. The only reason you know that they aren't is because it is repeatedly brought up. I feel like this novel could have benefitted from a little more tension between the main characters and not them giving in and having sex in the first chapter/first day they meet. I also feel like the story needed to be developed more. There was a whole intense scene with Callan's ex that felt unnecessary and out of place. Overall, I feel like this story could benefit from a little more plot development and character development as well. I feel like we learn a few facts about the characters at the beginning of the story, but that's it and that's their entire personality. There isn't any growth or change in who they are. I'm not one for a slow burn, but I think this story needed to move a bit slower, especially how they claim to be in love with each other after 2 days and they really don't know each other. Maybe I've just never experienced love like that before, but it sounds a lot like lust to me. Especially since Callan took Sloane's virginity. I definitely feel like Sloane and Callan aren't endgame. As you can tell, I have a lot of opinions about this book and it's just that,my opinion. This isnt facts or something you have to agree with.

Review: This was my first experience with Cassandra Vega’s works, and it did not disappoint. Vega skillfully blends drama, mystery, suspense, and spice into this romance novel, creating a captivating plot. I loved Sloane - she’s witty, smart, confident, and unapologetic, all traits she gets from her mom. By far my favorite side character, Ana (her mom) offers Sloane and Callan a safe space, which is something they both found themselves in need of often. In contrast, Callan’s self-deprecating nature adds depth to his character, especially with the surprising plot twist related to the very past that drives his self-doubt. Speaking of, that plot twist had me shocked! It truly was a plot TWIST; I didn’t see it coming even a little bit. However, I personally felt the climax occurred too close to the end, making the resolution feel a bit rushed. Even so, I am EAGERLY anticipating the next book (especially after that tease of an epilogue) and hope that we get to see Sloane and Callan’s relationship again in the next one!

I don't think its possible to dislike a book, as much as I dislike this one.
First of all, does slow burn not exist?? or at least getting past 2 chapters before the main characters are already having sex??? Like the whole point of this book is to give forbidden romance and how the mmc faces inner turmoil cause of the age gap/forbidden part etc etc AND YET he never keeps his dick out of her???? also they way they are already in love with each other in like 2 days?? erm yeah im good.
The mmc is actually 5 or something because he has zero emotional maturity and she is just as bad as he is, they both are dumb and need to make better decisions and maybe if they stop taking off each others clothes for two seconds, they'd be able to solve a majority of their problems.
Now my biggest hate for this book... so the MMC has a drinking addiction and is currently sober, something happens which causes him to relapse. What should have been a very emotional, character and relationship moment for them turned into.. "the only thing you need to be drunk on is this pu**y".... I cannot explain the anger that I felt in my veins when I read that. I feel it is so extremely insensitive to have this character relapse, and then for his girlfriend (comfort) character to just have sex with him and apparently all their problems disappear or something??? like are we just gonna ignore everything that just happened??
The plot of this book makes zero sense, like okay presidents daughter likes body guard okay, they sleep together, okay dad finds out, okay now she got kidnapped by guys ex girlfriend whos crazy. The end. There was no character growth, no point.
Please do not read this book, it is not worth your time.

OKAYYYYY!!!! Cassandra DID it with this one!
I was so blessed to be a Beta reader for this book, and let me tell you... it did NOT disappoint!
As usual, Cassandra's writing style had me hooked from the literal first moment of the book. The very first scene you get the entire personality of Sloane, the President Jake Martin's daughter, and her mother Ana. I loved both of them from the first page all the way to the end... and can we just talk about that epilogue... OMG!
I am officially obsessed with Callan and Sloane and their "switch"-ness. It was neat seeing them both take on different roles both in- and out-side of the relationship. I very much appreciate Cassandra having them both play a dominant role. It was very refreshing to see... plus the one bedroom scene when Sloane channels her inner Dom had me giggling and kicking my feet!!!
The plot to spice ratio was *chef's kiss*!! It was fun to have characters that were as obsessed with each other as I was with them.
Coming from reading The Consumed Series, which is very dark, it was wonderful to have a lighter book (still some darker themes in there) coming from Cassandra. I loved that you get this cutesy love story for essentially the first 3/4 of the book and then all hell literally breaks loose. I was biting my nails and turning pages so fast. I was so sad when it ended, but I am incredibly excited to see what is coming next.

The overall pace of the book is fast! There is so much going on and a few times I was shocked at the secrets we learn! Despite the 20 year ago gap between Sloane and Callan their chemistry is intense. I love how Sloane was able to help Callan navigate his guilt about her being his best friends daughter and him being the one who is supposed to protect her. What will happen when their relationship is exposed and out in the open?? You’ll have to read to find out. Cassandra will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions (that I am seeing us her specialty!) and leave you wanting more! Especially with that lovely ending 😉 Cassandra is quickly becoming one of my fave authors and I cannot wait for the next instalment of this series to see what happens next!

I’m going to start off with talking about the Author on this one. I felt like she really took this book and made it fast paced but yet managed to make it slow at the same time. In the sense, I felt like we were getting through and seeing everything we needed to have a solid relationship but at the same time it was slow because we actually got the feel of true emotions. The author managed to write this book in a beautiful way that captivated my attention through out the entire read.
There was a good portion of smut in this book and if you need a more smutty book, I recommend it. I did like that the couple talked to each other about exploring kinks and didn’t force it upon each other. The understanding that they were willing to explore but if it was not agreed by both, then they would not attempt. It was refreshing to read that.
The MC’s I felt like they true bonded and fought to stay together. They truly did everything they could to keep their relationship together. To which was needed as the time went on because their relationship would truly be tested. There were multiple different people trying to put in their opinions and negative comments about the MC’s and yet they did not let that stop them. Their relationship stayed strong and they continued to reassure each other that they were in it for the long game.
Without giving anything away, the last 1/4 of the book is where its at. You will absolutely love seeing how this book ends. Then add in the Epilogue where is leaves you ready for book 2. I think you will enjoy that completely!!!

If you are looking for an easy read full of spicy (like more chapters than not spicy) then this is a great pick up. I enjoyed how Sloane wanted to explore her sexuality and how Callan not only encouraged it, but was also exploring his sexuality. Often in these dynamics the younger virgin FMC is the only one exploring, but even as a grown man Callan felt comfortable enough the Sloane to explore new things for him.
While I did enjoy the spice there were a few things that left me wanting more with the overall story. I appreciate getting right to the spice of it all, but the first few chapters felt extremely rushed. I understand attraction/lust/love at first sight, but given the taboo nature of there relationship I expected it to develop a bit slower.
In addition the last 15% of the story also felt very rushed. I appreciate a good plot twist that isn't a third act breakup but I feel that more detail or even a few more chapters should have been added to the third act twist (no spoilers here!).
And finally I feel like the last chapter left me assuming there was more. The epilogue is from her mothers POV and while I appreciate what appears to be a set up for another characters story there were some major main character related details that were just casually thrown in.
A great easy read (sorry to the author but I read it in less than 24 hours) but left wanting a little more closure.

If you are looking for an easy read full of spicy (like more chapters than not spicy) then this is a great pick up.
