This book was recommended in a psychological thriller group on Facebook. And then looking at all the reviews on here….i don’t know if maybe we were all reading different books but this was not a 4-5 star read at all. And I absolutely hate giving 1 star reviews. I truly truly do. But I honestly have no idea what I just read.
The first 190ish pages are literally just about how Tessa is sooooo controlling and overbearing and how Teagan is trying to get away and get some freedom. The last 63 pages had the most “action” out of any of it. And even then it wasn’t anything substantial enough to warrant a higher rating. And don’t even get me started on the epilogue that made *ZERO* sense.
The writing style itself wasn’t horrible, the story just wasn’t going anywhere….and then just when you think you’re going to get answers, you’re left with more questions and then it’s the end.
"Hush, Little Baby" ARC By: Tea Seabrone Themes: control, deception, family relationships A SHOCKING AND GRIPPING READ. An obsessive and controlling mother with secrets. A teenage girl trying to figure out who she is, where she came from while she tries to unweave her mother's web of lies. Meet Tessa, a wife who's husband has a child with another woman. When that woman is put behind bars for murdering Tessa's husband, Tessa takes in the baby her husband had with another woman. Tessa raises Teagan as her own and keeps secrets hidden and buried. Teagan is almost 18, she starts asking questions, Tessa's control escalates, forcing more lies and secrets. What is there for Teagan to find? What will happen when she confronts Tessa about her past? How far will one woman go to keep her perfect life, perfect? This book was well written, descriptive and emotional. The ending will leave your jaw on the floor and have you questioning what you just read. A good, steady story that kept me interested. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!
4.5 rounded up. Holy cow! This was a wild ride! Tessa is the perfect mother, or so she thinks. Calculated, controlling, deceptive…she will do anything to keep her daughter safe and by her side. But as the lies build up and the ideal life that was created starts to crumble-Tessa will stop at nothing to regain what she so carefully built. Told in alternating perspectives: Tessa and Teagan. Tessa: the doting mother and Teagan: the daughter who is slowly realizing all that she’s ever known has been a lie.
“Hush Little Baby” by Tee Seabrone had me hooked from the very first page. The twists kept coming, and I found myself constantly on edge, unsure who to trust or what was really happening. The story is packed with secrets, lies, and so many unexpected turns that I couldn’t put it down. Seabrone does an amazing job of showing how nothing is ever as perfect as it seems, and by the end, I was left stunned by how everything came together. It’s a suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat kind of read.
This novel captivated me from the very start. Tessa's character was intricately crafted, adding depth to the story. The author's writing style brought a sense of realism that enhanced the experience. Overall, this book was an engaging read, packed with unexpected twists that kept me thoroughly entertained. I absolutely loved it!
Okay so my 2025 goal is to review every book I read🤣 I guess I enjoyed this book, honestly it wasn’t bad and I liked the writing. It just made absolutely no sense to me 😭😅 and maybe it’s just my brain not functioning or maybe somehow I missed something, but I just couldn’t tie the story together at the end! It definitely had potential and I’m considering giving the author another try 😅😅🤔🤔
Hush, Little Baby is an emotional rollercoaster that had me glued to the pages from start to finish. The story kicks off with such intense and haunting imagery that I immediately felt immersed in the protagonist's emotional turmoil. Seabrone masterfully weaves together tension and heartbreak keeping me on the edge of my seat as each chapter unfolded with shocking revelations. The characters are vividly real—flawed, raw, and relatable. Tessa's journey through grief, betrayal, and the secrets lurking in her seemingly perfect life kept me flipping the pages well past bedtime. I especially loved the layers of mystery surrounding Parker's death and the complexities of Tessa’s relationships with those around her. Every twist felt like a puzzle piece sliding into place, and I found myself gasping at the twists I didn’t see coming. What makes this book stand out is Seabrone’s ability to craft such emotionally charged scenes that feel genuine. The blend of suspense and drama, paired with the beautifully constructed character arcs, makes this a must-read for fans of thrillers with heart. By the time I turned the last page, I was already wishing there was more! If you're looking for a gripping, heart-wrenching, and twisty read, Hush, Little Baby delivers in every way. Highly recommend! 💙
This story had so much potential but it just fell flat… First of all, the title/cover was so misleading lmao it feels so small but it bothers me so much. I thought the book would be about an infant and a new mother gone crazy. Read the description and I’m like okay, no mention of a baby but I’m intrigued. Prologue I’m like oh wow, I feel bad for Tessa and OH, there’s the baby (1 year old Cassandra). Her husband died and she adopted the mistress’ baby. Fast forward 17 years and we see how spiteful and controlling Tessa is. That’s how the first 70% of the book is. Teagan (Cassandra’s new name) is a good kid but we see how overbearing and crazy Tessa is. I guess we’re supposed to think Mallory is the danger she’s protecting Teagan from but it’s so clearly that Tessa was behind everything. There was no suspense. No twist. Unless you want to count the epilogue which was so damn dumb. This had potential to be great but (don’t hate me) it felt mechanical, almost as if *whispers* AYE EYE wrote it— or at least some parts. I had high hopes for this but only read it just to see if there was a major twist. But nope, there wasn’t. I don’t see this being a five star read but hey 🤷🏽♀️ to each its own.
**To be clear, I was unable to finish this book!**
I got 26% through the book before my Kindle was shutting off, rebooting and restarting this book from page one every time I opened my Kindle.
Ms. Seabrone had offered an updated version of the epub file, so I deleted my original and resent the new file to my Kindle. Amazon rejected the new file as improper file type. I have no idea why. I was going to teach out to Ms. Seabrone to let her know, but without making it public on FB, I couldn't find a way, since messages are disabled.
The first 26% of the book is interesting. I hated one character, felt hopeful for others, was curious where the story was going. Alas, I am unable to continue currently based on Kindle file issues. My only negative takeaway is that the language is a bit dramatic. That sounds like an insult. I swear it isn't. I'm sure it's written that way on purpose because of the over-the-top character. It just detracted a bit for me. Otherwise, really good stuff. ❤️
What really stood out in this book was how vividly Tessa’s character was portrayed. The author’s ability to craft such a "devoted" mother got under my skin. I felt every ounce of Teagan’s frustration, suffocation, and yearning for independence, which kept me hooked, even when I found myself dreading what might come next. The writing style is sharp, creating an atmosphere so tense and realistic that I couldn’t put the book down.
The exploration of family history adds depth to the story, though I wish Reid’s character had been given more time to shine—his moments were intriguing, and I wanted to see him play a larger role.
Overall, this book is a well-written, tension-filled that dives deep into the complexities of family dynamics.
It's one of those stories where you can see the direction it's heading in and you can sort of predict what's going to happen, but you can't look away. I was hooked from the beginning. At first, I felt bad for Tessa. I was torn between her being controlling and just trying to be a good mother. But overbearing doesn't even begin to describe her. Teagan is so strong for standing up to her. I wished there was a little more on the back story of how Tessa ended up with Reece. It seemed almost like there was nothing there between them. The betrayal towards Teagan and Reece was deep though. The lies Tessa spun and the lengths she was willing to go to keep control was insane. I enjoyed this quick little thrilling story.
I am grateful to have received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was a fun, easy, and quick read with, what I found to be, some relatively expected plot twists and thrills. Nonetheless, the characters kept me interested and entertained, even if I was rolling my eyes at them here and there. I even found myself yelling at one of the characters in several parts of the book. You know you are involved in the story if you are sitting alone at home and catch yourself yelling at a book! This is an easy, interesting, and engaging mystery/thriller that may not keep everyone on the edge of their seat, but will keep your interest and attention.
I was afraid to pick this up based on the cover and potential triggers. I think covers are important because it sort of suggests wrongdoing or harm to babies. Anyway, I’m glad I read. It was recommended in a group. It was not so much about harm to children but rather an overbearing mother who is essentially trying to silence a child she wants to remain her “baby” forever. So much so that she goes to crazy, sometimes frustrating, lengths! Literally, I was screaming at the book. It kept me hooked with its intricate plot and compelling characters. Teagan’s determination to find the truth made her an easy character to root for.
First time reading a book by this author. The book was not what I expected unfortunately. It was supsenful at times but it didn't stick. Seemed a little drawn out. I did like the idea that the story was told from the vision of two characters. The main character did become annoy which took from the story. The last few chapters did become eventful. The story is full of potential but it just didn't hit for me.
(I received an audible ARC and had to turn it off and just read the book. Audible had lots of flaws which ruined the listening pleasure for me.)
Thank You Tee Seabrone and TeeMates for the audible. This review is that of my own.
The book was very similar in nature to that of the recently popular psych thriller authors. In the way that it reels and hooks you through to the end and slaps you with twist after twist that you couldn’t see coming. The epilogue makes me think there is more? It left questions. If there will be a sequel please leave Tessa’s inner monologue out of it. She was so unlikable! Overall an engaging read. The author has a way of making every chapter feel like a puzzle piece, slowly revealing the bigger picture. I honestly liked it
one thing that I must commend is the authors ability to keep the action going from chapter to chapter. It started out rolling from the prologue. It was intense and you just needed to know what happened next. I was blown away by the layers of secrets and lies. Luca isn’t talked about enough. I honestly loved his ride or die vibe. The rollercoaster kept me glued to the pages. This is a book that thriller fans won’t want to miss.
The way Tee weaves suspense with emotional storytelling is brilliant. The characters are all so well- developed. Except, maybe Reid. I would have liked to know more about him. I feel his character played an important role and we left the book not knowing much about how it truly became. Overall her books are fast paced and not recommended for anyone who’s supposed to be reducing their stress. You will be on edge.
Hush Little Baby kept me on pins and needles, just waiting for the next clue to unlock the secrets of Teagan's past. The characters were well developed, which allowed me to connect with them and feel their emotions. I highly recommend this one and look forward to reading more Tee Seabrone books.
Thank you for the ARC opportunity in exchange for my honest feedback, Tee Seabrone.
The ending pissed me off in a good way! I disagreed with the fate of one of the characters. This book had me on the edge of my seat with its twists and emotional depth. Teagan’s character is so well-written, and her search for the truth felt incredibly real. I was completely hooked until the very end.
In my opinion this was nothing like Suffocated. This was more of a crazy twisty ending thriller where Suffocated was more of a thrilling drama. Both put me in the mind of some seriously mentally ill individuals and not in a bad way. I will be reading all of this authors work because both were recent top reads for me.
Told from differing points of view, the book takes a little getting used to. Mostly the tale is about Teagan, a young woman of seventeen who thinks she knows about her life and her past. When she digs into things, nothing is what it seems. This is a psychological thriller that blends mystery and suspense in a page turning way.
I really enjoyed this one. I was hooked right from the beginning and couldn't put it down. This was a really good psychological thriller with a good mix of mystery thrown in. The twists were so good that I didn't see them coming. Thank you, Tee, for participating in this. I'm glad I got to read your work, and I'll definitely be checking out more 😉
What a page turner! I kept wanting to know what was gonna happen next. The characters were so well developed that you can feel their joy and pain. Although you don't root for all of them they are in your head. Excellent read.
Hush Little Baby definitely had me right from the start! A well written story with so much family drama and hidden secrets. There’s an underlying tension throughout the book that kept me turning pages until the action packed ending.
I was completely captivated by Teagan’s journey. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t stop reading until I knew the truth. The author has crafted a deeply emotional and suspenseful story.

I’m not good at writing reviews so I will just say this book kept me hooked and was very detailed. I also loved the easy to follow writing style. Getting to be in everyone’s head and not just having the story told from one POV. In short, I loved this book!
The suspense in Hush Little Baby is masterfully done, with each twist adding another layer to the story. Teagan’s quest for answers is filled with emotional highs and lows, making for a truly engaging read. I couldn’t put it down!
I really enjoyed the first half of the book but the plot twist was definitely unfinished and I feel like it was just added in there. This could’ve been developed better but if you want easy read then this is for you.
A very disturbing story about a woman who doesn't let anything stand in her way. I liked the characters and how they interacted, even though they were not always who they seemed to be. I loved the twists and turns which kept me guessing at times.
Loved this book. Teegan was a typical teenager but so many secrets she didn't know about. Until Vera came along and started her thought process rolling. Wish the ending would have said what happened to Tessa and Luca.
