Gods of Montcove #2

Lord of Obsession

Rate this book
I might be part of the all-powerful Valenti family, but I was never meant to be involved with the mafia.

Or so I thought until Dario Greco, a notorious hitman, stormed into my life.
An embodiment of danger and charm, he chose me as his mark.
I was just a law student, determined to escape the Valenti family's dark legacy, now caught in the crossfire.
Dario doesn't care about the risks, instead, he's intent on breaking down every wall I've built.
I thought studying law was hard.
But being the object of Dario's fierce obsession is far more terrifying.

This is a dark MM Stalker romance with dark content throughout. Check the Look Inside feature for Trigger warnings.

The writing is so descriptive that it becomes a main character in the book. It made me feel like I was sharing each space with Rafael and Dario, seeing the sun reflect or smelling the basil and oregano.

Thoughts as reading:
This is beautiful writing, but the theme gets repetitive, we've had a few same encounters with just crumbs added. Dario keeps pushing for Rafael to admit his true nature, but to what end?

-You know those picture story drama magazines that once got published in Europe (Italy)? That is exactly what this reminds me of, moments in time with cut dialogue set to a mood instead of a real discussion. Snapshots with word/dialogue bubbles.

-Can a book be overwritten and underwritten at the same time?
As I've mentioned, descriptions are plentiful, but dialogue and storytelling are sparse.
Ventilation, sunbeams, bloodstains, the smell of gun oil, hidden instincts, true nature, expensive cologne, rinse = repeat.🙃

In my mind I've had enough of this book @ 42%. That type of slut talk feels fabricated and out of place. Just wrong. And the "I want your pain" thing feels like OTT purposefully added for shock value. Especially since we still haven't moved on in the story. It all feels out of context.

I was honestly going to finish this because I really wanted to see where it was going.
But then the day after the big filthy f@ 👑 happened we went right back to more of the same scenes and dialogues. Expensive cologne et all.

I. Got. Bored.

Too much description. Too little story.
Shock value for the sake of shock value.
I just don't like them or care, I'm sorry.

This is said with love about my honest feelings while reading. I'm sure others will love it.❤️
The path this writer is on will only make her better.

way too many words in this book, cut 3/4 of the book out and maybe you get a ok story.
