Fate reunites a young woman with her ex-husband in a delightful and inspiring novel about family, old loves, and marriage on a dare by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kerry Lonsdale.
Furniture artisan Meli Hynes still abides by her uncle’s truism: the only lasting love story is the one between artists and their creations. Having already given marriage a shot—for all of twenty-four hours during a Las Vegas fling—Meli made her choice. The wood-crafting shop that is her family legacy will always come first.
But when her uncle decides to sell to a competitor, Meli’s promised inheritance goes belly-up. She’ll do anything to muddle the deal. Including a marriage of convenience to an unforgettable and very practical old friend—the competitor’s son, Aaron. With a controlling family of his own, and every bit as impulsive as Meli, Aaron is in. After all, this isn’t the first time he and Meli got hitched on a whim.
The rules of the ruse are simple: public displays of affection and live together as happy newlyweds. The hardest rule of all? Never let real feelings get in the way of what they plan to be a purely professional second time around.
Kerry Lonsdale is the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Amazon Charts & #1 Kindle bestselling author of standalone and series-based romantic women's fiction and emotionally charged domestic drama with over twenty-seven foreign language translations. Thank you so so much to NetGalley, author Kerry Lonsdale, and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC of Falling for You Again!
This emotional and beautifully written book will be released on July 8, 2025 so mark your calendars!
I should have read this sooner and it completely surprised me how much I fell in love with it! The humor had me literally laughing out loud constantly and don’t even get me started on Aaron Borland. He is the perfect book boyfriend! 🥰
Meli is such a relatable character, especially with the way her anxieties and personal struggles are portrayed. And both Meli and Aaron have endured so much trauma (so much!) that I honestly wanted to sob several times while reading. The strength they both show is incredible, and their shared pain and healing brings them closer together in such a real and meaningful way.
The writing is absolutely amazing and descriptive, it pulled on every single heartstring. The author has a way of making you feel everything her characters do, and it made the story that much more powerful and immersive.
The book also touches on some really heavy topics, but the author handles it with care, positivity, and depth… breaking down stigma and judgment in a truly thoughtful way.
This romcom is going to be a hit once it gets onto shelves! The love, heartbreak, emotion, and humor are absolutely top tier. I could NOT put it down, and I would love to read more stories set in this universe.
Don’t miss this one, put it on your TBR immediately! 💖
The tug-of-war between heart and head, mixed with family drama and beautiful prose, made this a spectacular read.
“Listen to the rhythm of falling leaves. Every moment in life is a chance to create something beautiful, with someone or for someone. Even for yourself. Embrace the impermanence of life, like falling leaves. What you’re going through right now is but one of many seasons for you. Use these moments to prepare your masterpiece.”
Meli Hynes lives in a world where her logical mind and her emotional core are engaged in a constant tug of war. Every time she gives in to what her heart wants, panic undoes what following her heart has accomplished. I was compelled to keep reading to find out who Meli listened to: her voice of reason or her heart.
I loved the references to her family being like a piece of knotty pine, and I know that this novel would make a fantastic TV series or movie!
Every moment I spent with Meli and Aaron was worth it. I know this book will be in my top 5 reads of 2025.
I was gifted this copy by Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
This was such a fun and unique read for me. There were so many things I loved about it that had me smiling and giggling to myself as I read.

Meli has long believed that true love and a fulfilling career can’t coexist without one eventually leading to heartbreak. After fleeing from the altar years ago, she threw herself into her family’s woodworking legacy, mastering her skills and determined to preserve the shop’s future. But now, her uncle’s decision to sell threatens to undo everything she’s worked for. With time running out, Meli knows she has to either stop the sale or buy the business herself. When her uncle won’t sell to her, she’s forced to come up with a new plan to save the shop she cares about so deeply.
Wait—rewind. Major key detail that was missed. Right after Meli ran from her wedding, she met a charming stranger, Aaron, on the plane. They clicked instantly—so much so that she invited him to join her on what would’ve been her honeymoon. Over spilled secrets and laughter, they created a “marriage material list,” and in a bold, impulsive move to reclaim her life, Meli proposed they get married for the trip—no strings attached. Just a runaway bride, a stranger, and the adventure of a lifetime.
Fast forward to the present—Aaron, her technically ex-husband, turns out to be the son of the company trying to buy out Meli’s family business. She hasn’t forgotten what he once told her: if she ever needed anything, he’d be there. Now, she’s cashing in on that promise—with another proposal. To sabotage the deal, she needs him to marry her again, creating a conflict of interest that could save her family’s legacy.
Follow these two as they begin to understand that what feels like setbacks are often the very moments that shape us, opening the way to growth—and that the promise of happily ever after is often found in the most unexpected places.

Emotionally, this book hits deep. Those who have ever had to let go of a love too soon—or been surprised by its return—will find themselves seen. The story affirms that healing isn’t always linear. Broken things can still be beautiful.
This was a deeply moving, beautifully written exploration of love lost and found, and the powerful truth that some hearts are destined to find each other—no matter how much time has passed.

💍 second chance 💋marriage of convenience 💍 found family 💋 forced proximity 💍 friends-to-lovers
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing and Kerry Lonsdale for allowing me to read this arc. These are all my honest opinions in this review.
2.5 rounded up (I struggle giving books a 2 star rating, though in honesty- should have DNF a few times….)
The writing itself- well done. This author can write well and the idea behind the story could have had potential if done as a true family drama. However the story was choppy. The characters lacked any depth and substance even though they each had heavy subject matter to contend with in their lives.
What didn’t work for me (where do I start?) mostly I’d say it was the FMC Meli. Why? So. Many. Misunderstandings! She was whiney. She was naïve. She was selfish in her own right. She jumped to conclusions. While I understand this was a work of fiction, these are my least favorite characteristics in life… don’t bring this to my fiction.
The book is about second chances (and 3rd and 4th…too much forgiveness where forgiveness shouldn’t be). It’s about addictions- drug, alcohol and gambling -but not written in a serious manner. It’s written almost lightheartedly and in a way that one would forgive multiple offenses (sorry, but nope… and been there done that to be able to say… nope). And then- there’s an impromptu marriage- divorce- remarriage-divorce- love- no, maybe not? No, she changes her mind… ‘I love him’… no -yes- no… you’d think this was a heavy duty drama! It was not. It was a lighthearted ‘love story’ 😣
The ending was almost redeeming. There were parts that I considered ‘sweet’. Some of the 8657 misunderstandings resolved. Broken relationships mended. Then again… who mends a relationship with a drug addicted gambler for the 3rd time… this should not be an HEA.
To end… way too much about furniture restoration -😴 I would not recommend this book.
Though if you are still interested it is available on kindle unlimited with audio.
A whirlwind marriage, second chances, and two hearts still tangled... Falling For You Again is an enjoyable, emotional read about love, family, and the power of forgiveness. Meli and Aaron’s impulsive Vegas wedding and quick separation set the stage for a story that explores whether love can truly stand the test of time.
I loved Meli’s determination and fiery spirit, and Aaron’s sweetness and unwavering support added warmth to their dynamic. Their chemistry shines in moments of playful banter, making their connection feel genuine and heartfelt. Aaron’s quiet patience, especially in the face of Meli’s strong will, made him a character I rooted for — though I wished his personality had been given more depth beyond simply following Meli’s lead.
I wasn’t a fan of the family’s miscommunication dynamic, especially in how Meli was excluded from important business decisions — it only reinforced my belief that both Meli and Aaron could seriously benefit from therapy. Also, the on-again-off-again nature of their relationship felt a little contrived at times, and the resolution wrapped up a bit too neatly for me. However, the engaging plot and witty banter between the characters kept me hooked from start to finish. Kerry Lonsdale balances heavier themes of family pressure and emotional wounds with humour and emotional sincerity, creating an uplifting story of love and self-discovery.
This book left me feeling hopeful and entertained, and I’m giving it four stars. Meli and Aaron’s journey proves that sometimes, the heart just needs a second chance — and maybe even a little therapy!
(4.25 stars) This was my first book by Kerry Lonsdale and I loved it. Falling For You Again tells the story of Meli (short for Melissa) and Aaron, who have a meet-cute on an airplane after Meli ran away from her wedding. The description of her getting on the plane in her wedding dress had me laughing.
The story is told by Meli and goes back and forth between memories of when she met Aaron and some years later when they meet again, under very different circumstances. I love a second chance romance and this one really delivered.
I enjoyed Meli as a main character. She’s an artist/artisan who works in wood furniture. She grew up in her family business and learned everything from her uncle “Bear” who became her guardian because her parents couldn’t care for her. (You eventually get their backstory.) Uncle Bear, in addition to teaching Meli about working with wood, also teaches her that love isn’t worth it, that your art comes first. She expects to inherit the family business when Bear is ready to retire, but her plans are thrown into chaos when Bear tells her he’s selling the business, to a large corporate competitor.
Aaron was also a great character. He has his own family issues and emotional baggage. I would have loved some chapters from Aaron’s POV, instead of it all being Meli’s.
You get: - Second chance romance - Fake dating - Found family - Marriage of convenience - Dysfunctional families - Addiction problems/neglectful parents - Family legacy vs personal ambition
I bounced between the ebook and the audiobook for this title, and Amanda Leigh Cobb did a great job with all the voices.
Thank you to Booked With The Emilys, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of this book and to Brilliance Audio for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.
Kerry Lonsdale is known for blending genres with emotional depth and sharp storytelling, and in Falling for You Again, she shifts gears into a more classic romance—with her signature emotional complexity still fully intact. This story centers on Meli and Aaron, two characters with painful pasts and emotional baggage, who find themselves entangled in a marriage of convenience that quickly turns into something more. With tropes like fake dating and second chances layered in, it’s an irresistible setup, but what sets this book apart is how authentic and layered the characters feel, especially Meli.
The family dynamics bring an added layer of tension and depth. Meli’s relationship with her parents is nothing short of disastrous, and the messiness of those ties adds realism and emotional weight to her romantic journey. Lonsdale doesn’t shy away from hard truths about grief, expectations, and trying to rewrite your story when the past keeps holding you back. Still, for all the heaviness, the tone never gets too bleak, there’s a hopeful thread running through it all.
The audiobook narration by Amanda Leigh Cobb is a perfect match. Her voice has that comforting, familiar quality that feels like a friend recounting a deeply personal story. She brings Meli to life with warmth and emotional nuance, enhancing both the lighthearted and heavier moments in the story. Listening felt intimate, like I was being let in on something private and real.
Overall, Falling for You Again is an emotional and flirty read that strikes a great balance between fun and heartfelt. Whether you’re drawn to complicated family stories, emotional romance, or second chances that make your heart ache just a little before it soars, this one delivers. The audiobook especially makes for an engaging, binge worthy listen.
I have read three of Kerry's books now and I can honestly say, I'm a huge fan. This is a second chance romance about Meli and Aaron. Meli was raised by absent parents, due to substance abuse. She was raised by her uncle who has told her to immerse herself in her artistic career as a furniture artisan and that's what she does . She has a hard time getting emotionally invested in relationships. Her heart wants it, but in her mind she makes excuses to avoid it. Years ago, after leaving her fiance at the altar, she meets Aaron and they get married on a whim in Las Vegas. That only lasts 24 hours.
Now, her uncle wants to sell her family's woodcrafting shop to a competitor. This is supposed to be her inheritance. So to save the business, her and the competitor's son decide to get married. A marriage of convenience. He just so happens to be her EX-HUSBAND Aaron. They will live together as “Happy Newlyweds” and show public signs of affection. They do not want to let their feelings get in the way though, but that just might be the hardest part.
I loved Aaron and Meli’s story. They both had family drama and I enjoyed learning about their pasts. I also loved reading about the wood crafting business they had. This is a believable romance story and it warmed my heart and made me smile. Loved it.
Thank you to the publisher and author for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own!
Thank you to NetGalley, Brilliance Audio and Kerry Lonsdale for this arc. The following review are my honest thoughts. I really wanted to like this one — it has some great ingredients that will certainly appeal to readers who enjoy a marriage of convenience, family dynamics, and a cat named Blueberry (though I’ll admit, I’m more of a dog person). For me, the biggest struggle was connecting with Meli. Her character came across as whiny, making it hard to stay in her POV. The initial Vegas wedding felt too contrived, especially when they weren’t drunk — just suddenly married? (Certainly must be an enneagram 7) It didn’t quite land for me. The random time jumps also felt jarring and could have been blended more seamlessly into the story. I also found myself wishing for more depth and pining between the couple, as so many of their issues came down to miscommunication that resolved too quickly. The family subplot had potential but felt flat, and certain moments — like hair sniffing and crying during vows — felt a bit awkward to me. That said, readers who like a low-angst second chance at marriage, cats and intervening family members might have a lot of fun with this one. It just didn’t quite work for me this time around.
Such a cute read! Meli and Aaron are such fun characters to get to know. You want to yell at Meli to stand up herself and when she finally does I cheered. Aaron figures out his own path while dealing with his own family issues. Aaron and Meli meet on a plane after she ran out on her wedding. Both told each other they wouldn’t get married. They end up marrying each other…twice!
Definitely worth the read. It’s a quick read and super cute.
Special thanks to the author and NetGalley for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.
Expected publication date: July 8, 2025
Everyone deserves a second chance. Sometimes, it just takes a little push.
Bestselling author Kerry Lonsdale has once again delivered a unique, emotional and upbeat romantic tale of second chances with her new novel, “Falling for You Again”.
Meli Hynes is a furniture craftsman, working in her uncle’s shop with dreams to take it over and make it her own one day. With an estranged relationship with both of her parents, and an ex-fiancé she literally ran from on the day of their wedding, Meli knows one thing about love- it isn’t worth it, especially if it gets in the way of her true passion, making furniture. It isn’t until her future with the business is in question that Meli feels everything falling apart and she hopes that by reaching out to former love, Aaron, they can come up with a plan to keep Meli’s passion alive. But Aaron is a complication as he remains just as sweet and loving as ever which makes it very difficult for Meli to remember her promise to herself to not fall in love.
Meli is not your typical romance protagonist. Not only is she a furniture craftsperson, making beautiful pieces out of wood for others, but she comes from a broken home where her drug-addicted parents never put her first, leaving her uncle to raise her. Led to believe that love was too risky, Meli is strong-willed, independent and creative, and she was a character I built a connection with right away. As her (predictable) relationship with Aaron develops, even then, Meli stays true to her beliefs and only commits when she realizes Aaron is the type of person who will not stand in the way of her dreams.
Lonsdale won my heart almost from the very beginning, as I have read all of her novels since “Everything We Keep”, and she’s been on my “must read” author list since. For someone like me, who turns away from romance novels, Lonsdale has successfully managed to make me an avid reader of the genre, as long as she is the one behind them.
With the unique world of furniture design as the backdrop, Lonsdale’s “Again” provides a whole new experience for readers, immersing them in this specific world of crafting and design, and I loved it, especially because Meli was so passionate about it. After chapter after chapter of page-turning drama, the ending delivered everything I was expecting, and brought a smile to my face.
Once again, thanks to Lonsdale’s team for welcoming me onto the review team for this novel (and all the others). I cannot rave about “Again”, or the author herself, enough!
Falling For You Again is a book that will give you all the feels. You'll be laughing along with Meli, feeling anxious with Meli, rooting for Meli, and crying with Meli. I loved Falling For You Again and wish the story would continue. Meli is an artisan with woodworking and creates furniture pieces. She's worked in her uncle's shop since she was a young girl.. She absolutely loves her job and doesn't consider it work at all. Meli almost made the biggest mistake of her life, but ran away, jumped on a plane to Vegas, and met Aaron.
Once Meli gets back home, she is told that her uncle is selling the shop to a competitor. The plan had always been for Meli to take over the shop when her Uncle wanted to retire. Meli is angry that he would do this without talking to her first. Her entire life is in this shop and if she doesn't have it anymore, what will she do? When Meli finds out that Aaron is the competitor's son, she knows she can get him to help her. They come up with a plan to marry for convenience so that the deal will fall through. You can't date anyone you work with and they're going to be married!
Will Meli and Aaron's plan work? Will Meli save the shop and be able to continue her life's work? Will Aaron find a way to not have to work at his family's business? He's never liked it, but felt obligated because of his guilt. The family dynamics in Meli's life and in Aaron's will make you feel for both of them. The more you learn about their past, the more empathy you will feel. Meli and Aaron promise things to each other, but they are to sleep in separate bedrooms and not get feelings for each other. Will they be able to stick to the terms? Read Falling For You Again and find out! The book is out now and if you love a good romcom, this book is for you. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an advanced copy of Falling For You Again in exchange for a fair review. #FallingForYouAgain
Utterly charming, deeply heartfelt, and impossible to put down.
Kerry Lonsdale delivers pure magic with Falling for You Again. This book has everything I love in a contemporary romance: a fiery, independent heroine, a swoon-worthy second-chance love interest, and a marriage-of-convenience setup that somehow feels fresh, smart, and completely believable.
Meli is such a relatable character; passionate about her work, loyal to her family legacy, and determined not to compromise her dreams. And Aaron? Let’s just say he's the kind of ex you want to get stuck in a fake marriage with again. Their chemistry is effortless, their banter sparkles, and the emotional layers behind their connection kept me turning the pages well past bedtime.
Lonsdale does a beautiful job weaving together romance, family drama, and personal growth. The stakes feel real, and the payoff is so satisfying. I laughed, I teared up, I rooted for these characters every step of the way.
If you're a fan of witty, emotional, and feel-good love stories with depth, Falling for You Again is a must-read. Kerry Lonsdale just keeps getting better.
A unique story full of romance and family drama. Runaway bride Meli bumps into handsome stranger Aaron on a flight to Las Vegas. On a dare (and after a few drinks) they decide to get married and then file for a divorce. Five years later they meet again and decide a marriage of convenience is the way to go in order to stop the sale of Meli's family business. There is an undeniable attraction between them yet Meli is opposed to marriage because of her past. If she can overcome her issues they may have a chance at a loving and deeply satisfying marriage.
Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I've been a fan of Kerry Lonsdale's writing for almost 10 years and she always finds new ways to impress me. Her latest novel, Falling for You Again, is different from anything she's written before, but it's still really good! Also, I like that the main character's full name was Melissa. It's rare to see a main character who shares a first name with me.
I didn't know what to expect from this story when reading the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised by all of it. There's more to it than meets the eye. Aside from the romantic aspect, there's also a storyline that involves a lot of family drama. Plus, there's a strong focus on Meli's career. I loved how genuine the dialogue and banter felt. I found myself really invested in the relationship between Meli and Aaron. All the flashback scenes really built that up for me. The descriptions brought the story to life so vividly, without taking away from the narrative. I've never been to Boston, but I could see everything like it was right in front of me.
I felt like there was a lot of whiplash when it came to what Meli wanted for herself. She'd be so certain one moment and then things would change for her abruptly and affect all the choices she made for herself. She was also running hot and cold for Aaron throughout the story, but I understand why she felt that way, given the way she was raised. I actually wish the story had been written from both Meli and Aaron's perspectives, as Aaron had a lot going on in his life too and he was such an interesting character. His mom was such a piece of work! She made me SO angry.
Overall, a very impressive new direction for Kerry, showing what a diverse writer she is. It's perfect for fans of Allie Larkin and Tracey Garvis-Graves. I look forward to checking out the companion novelette, The First Fall next month!
FALLING FOR YOU AGAIN is a heartfelt romance about rediscovered love. I really liked Meli and Aaron. They overcame some difficult family challenges together which made them the perfect couple. I thought the story was cute and I had a hard time putting down. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a sweet romance.
I could barely make it through this book… the characters had no substance. Their identities were based entirely in their trauma/backstory. The female protagonist was wishy-washy and inconsistent. The “chemistry” between the couple felt forced and nonexistent because there was no reasonable foundation…and it was hard to get excited about woodworking.
Falling For You Again is a special love story. The connection between the two MCs, Aaron and Meli was truly magnetic. It's a story that will make you believe in love, and give you a glimpse of how alive a life can be with the right partner.
Kerry does an amazing job balancing the deep emotional journey with many lighthearted, and laugh out loud moments that had me giggling. There are also many heart melting, swoony moments that reminded me what pure love looks like.
One of my favorites, Kerry Lonsdale has a new novel coming out in a few days, book friends! I’ve been reading her novels for years now, and I’m always impressed by her storytelling. Her latest, FALLING FOR YOU AGAIN blends romance with family drama beautifully. Take a peek at this quick synopsis:
The adorable couple, Meli and Aaron truly made this novel for me. I loved them both immediately and it was obvious from the start that they were made for one another. Their chemistry was very strong, obvious, and believable. Their connection stayed steady even with all of the shocking twists, turns, and surprises thrown their way. They’re definitely a couple that you can root for.
I absolutely LOVE reading about family businesses, so having both characters involved in running one—and similar ones at that—was an extra bonus for me. The family drama was plentiful on both sides—just the way I like it! There’s definitely some heaviness and sadness present in this story, yet Lonsdale balances heartache with heartfelt moments expertly.

FALLING FOR YOU AGAIN comes out this Tuesday, July 8th! Be sure to grab yourself a copy! 4/5 stars!
Falling for You Again is a sweet second-chance romance that takes you into the life of the hardworking, scarred Meli Hynes who, after learning of the imminent sale of the woodworking company that has been in her family for generations, decides to do whatever she can to save her family’s legacy business, even if it means entering a marriage of convenience with her ex-husband who she has never quite forgotten.
The writing is light and smooth. The characters are kind, caring, and endearing. And the plot is a touching tale of life, love, friendship, self-discovery, happiness, healing, taking chances, growth, revelations, tender moments, familial drama, promises, disappointments, selflessness, dreams, and new beginnings.
Overall, Falling for You Again is a heartfelt, tender, uplifting read by Londsdale that I absolutely adored, and which did a beautiful job of mixing some heart-tugging dilemmas with more than a dab of lighthearted fun.
Falling for You Again by Kerry Lonsdale. Thanks to the author for the gifted copy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Meli’s dream has always been to own her uncle’s wood crafting shop that she’ll inherit, until she finds out he’s selling to the competition. She will do anything to stop this ; even a marriage of convenience.
This was a very well done romance. I loved the plot line as it’s very unique. The romance was believable and heart warming. I loved how both parties had family issues to work through that brought discord but also unite them. I also loved the cat character, Blueberry!
“It isn’t every day that a girl has the opportunity to marry a practical stranger, not once in her life, but twice.”
For someone like me, who finds romance novels cliche Lonsdale has successfully managed to make me an a reader of the genre, as long as it's not too cheesy and this author doesnt.
With the unique world of furniture design as the backdrop and so much drama, the ending was exactly what I wanted.. I definitely recommend.
I don’t normally give bad ratings to books, but there were a lot of things that made me not like this book, and I want to expand on some of them:
1 - The main characters in this book are divorced when you first meet them, but how they got married is the one thing that makes absolutely no sense. On a whim, these two people who were seated beside each other on a plane for a couple of hours, dared one another to get married in Vegas for no reason at all, before they were even drunk to do something so stupid.
2 - Meli, our female main character, is one of the most unlikable characters I’ve ever read about. Everything in the world revolves around her, she only stands for her own interests, she only seeks people out of her own needs and wants. And that includes the way she conducts her relationship with poor Aaron.
3 - There are a lot of time jumps that happen in the middle of a chapter, in a way that makes the writing feel choppy. Often times I didn’t even realize it was flashback until the dialogue made it clear.
4 - If there’s one thing that defines the beginning, middle and end of this story, it is the miscommunication trope. Everything that happened in this books was brought by the lack of communication between the characters, and their lack of maturity as well.
Falling for You Again is an enthralling and romantic novel about a couple, Meli and Aaron, who get not just a first or second chance to be together, but a whole series of chances! They meet when Meli is a runaway bride, escaping to Las Vegas. They are strangers on a plane who spend an unexpected week together, and then meet again a few years later. Their relationship is quite the roller coaster! Each of their upbringings have shaded their views on love and marriage, and those issues weigh them down; but they can’t fight their feelings for each other, even when misunderstandings and their families get in their way. There are some very poignant moments, not just between Aaron and Meli, but also with their families and friends. I loved that they provided for each other the elements that were missing from their relationships with their families, that they had each found someone who could be their family, someone who would always put them first. I received an advance reader copy of this book.
Meli is a furniture artist. She crafts the most amazing pieces and looks forward to taking over the family business. She is blind-sided when her uncle plans to sell the business. When she finds out the company that is buying has someone she knows working for them… Aaron. A man she hasn’t seen in years… The man she married and divorced after a night in vegas… A man who might just be able to help her destroy the deal.
Wow wow wow! This second chance story really took a unique twist by having the main characters meet by chance on a plane and get married in Vegas with the agreement they annul it after. They don’t see each other again until this deal. I loved the chemistry between them. The narration was absolutely wonderful and I loved how the whole book came to life in this beautiful way. I liked Meli a lot. I loved that she had a job outside of “pink” jobs that come up a lot in romance books. She was a rockstar with A wood-lathe and that was bad ass. I thought the plot was clever and unique. It really was a fun read. I liked the ending too. It was definitely an all round epic romance read!
Meli is a runaway bride. Leaving her groom at the alter and still in her wedding dress, she gets on a plane to Las Vegas and meets a handsome seat mate, Aaron. There is an instant connection and deep conversations lead to a whirlwind week. They part and unexpectedly reconnect years later.
This is a fun second chance romance. So many boxes are checked here…dysfunctional family, addiction, fake dating, found family, marriage of convenience. Meli tells the story of the relationship, switching seamlessly between their adorable meeting to their reconnection. The author did a wonderful job with character development. The secondary characters were a welcome addition, each playing an integral part in Meli and Aaron’s life, and making their life choices understandable. Overall, this was a very enjoyable, quick read. I look forward to Ms Lonsdale’s next book!
Thanks to LakeUnionAuthors and NetGalley for this ARC. This is my honest opinion.
I loved this book! There are amazing main characters and the story is so beautifully written. Meli’s career as a furniture artisan was interesting and not something I have read about before. Meli and Aaron have a secret and it’s that they were married in Vegas for 24 hours a few years ago. Now that Aaron’s family is trying to buy Meli’s family’s wood working shop she needs his help. They enter a marriage of convenience and of course emotions get involved. Meli and Aaron’s thoughts and feelings are woven together skilfully along with their great dialogue and amazing chemistry. I was engrossed in this story! Definitely add this one to your TBR! I have read and loved other books by Kerry Lonsdale and this one and Side Trip are my favourites so far.
Furniture artisan Meli Hynes always puts her family’s wood-crafting shop first, knowing one day the ownership will be transferred to her. When her uncle decides to sell to a competitor without giving Meli a chance to talk him out of it, she decides to find a way to stop the deal.
A marriage of convenience to the competitor’s son, who has a controlling family and could benefit too, might just be her answer. And it’s not the first time she’s married Aaron on a whim…
💜 second chance romance 💜 marriage of convenience 💜 runaway bride 💜 found family
Second chance is my favorite romance trope, and I loved the unique way it was incorporated in this story!
The way Aaron and Meli navigated their complicated family dynamics allowed me to get to know them on a deeper level. I was rooting for them both as individuals and romantic partners 💜
It was very evident how much Meli loved her craft and wanted to carry out her family’s legacy with their shop. Kerry’s writing was so moving and heartfelt.
I loved this book. Having read all of Kerry Lonsdale’s books, I have several favorites, but this one is now at the top of my favorite KL books. I loved the two main characters, Meli and Aaron, and the chemistry, dialogue and banter between them. I didn’t care for her parents who practically abandoned her as a child leaving her uncle to raise her. And I was disappointed in her uncle, and her parents as well, for deciding to sell the craft furniture business behind Meli’s back. The business she was to inherit and take over after her uncle retired. This furniture business was her life, and she felt betrayed by her family’s lack of communication with her about this big decision knowing how much it meant to her. How could they do that to her and why? Fate would bring Aaron, who had family issues of his own, back into Meli’s life after she comes up with a plan that might help her keep the family business from being sold but she would need Aaron’s help. He agrees to help and their reunion develops into a great friendship. But does her plan work? And what will happen between Meli and Aaron after? Well, reader, you will have to get this book to find out exactly what happens.
This book is not only about romance but also about family, betrayal, forgiveness, and about trusting in love. Lots of emotion in this book and a few laughs as well. Kerry Lonsdale has written and beautiful story with a surprising and satisfying ending.
I received an early copy of the e-book as well as the audiobook version from the publisher via NetGalley. It was actually nice to be able to go back and forth between the e-book and audio version. The narrator did an exceptional job! If you’re a romantic, you’ll love this book. If you’re not, perhaps this book will make you one!
