The storyline was there, but the direction and flow just fell flat. I’m super disappointed because I remember when the promo started for this book and it was a highly anticipated read for me. The book had a prologue but still lacked too much detail . There was no character development and chapters from Alexis& Allegra that didn’t add to the story. The only consistent thing was the annoying ex and he was just…. Murdered? Main character was pregnant after no indication of them even taking it to the next steps, random one night stand popped up with a mystery with no indication that Mike had been promiscuous or sloppy at any time . I think this would be a great story line it just needed more time to bake .. rushed and choppy
🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 I’m sorry but this was a train wreck . As an author you have to know that words mean things so to continually use the word smother/ smothering which is defined as kill (someone) by covering their nose and mouth so that they suffocate was bewildering. Like one you wanna say suffocate cus that baby was alone in the car. Two she most likely would’ve passed from a heatstroke so WHY THE FREAK you keep saying smothering.
Now on to the rest, why did we have POVs from Malcom and Allegra? We supposed to be falling for big Mike yet we hearing from two weirdos. Why the hell was Malcom around for so long like sorry the cops would be collecting the boy after the first unauthorized visit. He added nothing useful to the story line and really wasted valuable story time. Allegra was raggedy af and def deserved at least a year in jail. Like had we not got the d* ck side quest story then maybe the reader could feel for her more. It also didn’t help that Mike’s family was not on his side. Like technically he could share partial blame cus he was responsible picking her up and didn’t just to look over Sha’mari’s car like damn Mike you the only maintenance man in the shop??
This story was chaotic af but still boring, it didn’t flow well portions that didn’t need drawn out story telling received them and the parts that actually need explanations didn’t get them. Like what was Eva’s purpose? Sis needed a break lmao some money like what? Then it’s like why you trusting a man who just lost his child cus of a neglectful situation to just have your baby? We also don’t know where tf this girl came from. Malcom had 47 cameos lmaoo but we ain’t get no explanation as to where Eva was delivered from??? Then ima keep it a bean IDGAF about a d*ck dizzy whore finding love and peace, Allegra deserved hell and a cell yet we getting her happy ending lmaoo. Is this mikes story or Allegra’s cus she never even redeemed herself for anyone to be happy for her.
One of your best books ever written! I love how you added one of the hottest topics in this book. So many kids te dying from being left in a car. You showed emotions from both sides. As humans we're so quick to judge someone's actions. Especially when a child is involved. At first, I wanted Allegra to pay and go to jail. She put sex in front of her child. However, she's going to be punished every day for her actions. And what if Allegra ws your daughter and her first offense? I hd to look at this from every angle. This book deserves 10 stars. Although it's fiction. Most of the details are what's occurring every day. Never say that'll never be you. Great job Queen Lissa
Sha'Mari giving a man a chance turned out to be the worst mistake, she had it all and despite what her boyfriend had went through she was there for him, until that one day when he turned her would upside down; Malcom was indeed not a good man he wanted to be taken care of but he got what he deserved in the end. Big Mike escape a bad relationship when he got shot his baby mama showed her tire colors but he remained constant in his baby girls life, that was until tragic hit and it came hard. Now where did this second baby mom come from is indeed a mystery but happy she played herself and the little girl got some stability. This was a great story enjoyed the interactions of the characters.
Let me start by saying I honestly enjoy this authors work. But this one right here I have mixed feelings. Allegra deserved jail time and I mean a lot of jail time. If she had of left the baby in the car for something that was going to better her life probation would have been good but to lay with a man she should have definitely went prison . And where in the heck did the Eva chick come from? So yeah I have mixed feelings with a lot of questions.
I am confused on this one. I am not sure of the author’s intention in this book, but it left more questions for this to be considered a standalone. Like this man got shot, no closure on the shooter. This man lost his child to a neglectful baby mother, then another woman pop up that he’s never met or heard of with a baby? He has another baby with the current girlfriend, they get engaged, all is well the end.🤔🤷🏽♀️
Honestly, did not like this book. I tried to finish since I saw reviews saying this was the authors best book yet. The characters felt immature based on their dialogue and actions. The plot wasn’t fully flushed out and felt rushed at some points. Her friends were extremely irritating and not in a good way. I was frustrated throughout this entire book.
Overall this was just a cute love story and I was all for big Mike and Sha being together. I love how genuine their love story was like they became friends first than lovers. Allegra was just a mess like how you let that happened but I’m glad she got her happy ending as well.
Big Mike had a great life prior to losing his baby girl. Meeting ShaMari was a great thing. They both went through a lot but in the end they were blessed with a family and love. Malcolm was an idiot and Allegra caused a lot of heartache due to carelessness with Olivia. This novel never really got good to me. It was kind of typical. It was just an ok read.
This book had me all in my feelings ugly 😭 it’s so crazy how stuff happens like this everyday. This book went through the whole process and didn’t shy away from such a difficult topic. Overall great book.
This was good read!! Big Mike was a great guy and deserved everything he got in the end!! I was torn on my feelings for Allegra and her actions but by the end I was proud of her! Now my favorite was Sha'mori she had the biggest heart and loved with her all!! I was happy for her!
I liked this book but I felt like something was missing, like where was the part that explained how he ended up being that child father, how did him and Eva meet or hook up. That's what baffled me.
I haven't read this author in a good little minute. It was nice that Big Mike and Sha'Mari found love in each other after the drama they went through at the hands of Eva and Malcolm.
I absolutely loved the story . As soon as i received the notification for this book I downloaded on my kindle . Their love story was everything I like the fact that we see how Big Mike struggles with everything coming his way usually thats something we see for women .
Hmmm… I gave this one a 3.5 because it was predictable. It was still an enjoyable read. Big Mike has an avoidance personality when things get rough that I can resonate with. How can you forgive someone for an accident that changed the trajectory of your life forever? That’s what Big Mike had to learn to do. This story showed the struggles of forgiving, accepting, and moving on. I do love how the story ended because who doesn’t like a happy ending.
This book was not the best one that I have read by Lady Lissa, but it was okay. I didn’t like the way Olivia died. I liked the relationship between She’Mari and Mike tho.
That was a great read! What I’m going to say is a part of this book was very unexpected and yes it took Big Mike though a lot and I’m glad Mari came into his life bc if ever he needed a shoulder and she needed love they were made for each other! Awesome read
Wow—the characters in this story were truly compelling. Although I haven't experienced the loss of a child myself, the emotional weight of the story was almost too much for my heart to handle. Big Mike stood out as a remarkable father to Olivia, and she was such an adorable little girl—one any parent would be lucky to have. I'm so glad both Mike and Sha'Mari found the joy and happiness they deserved by the end. This was a touching and emotionally powerful read.
