She’s a gamer, he’s a player. Together they fool the world.
A simple Mediterranean cruise to soothe a broken heart spirals into a fake marriage, all thanks to the twisted words of a loud-mouthed quarterback. When her best friend is left at the altar, Billie Leigh, creator and CEO of a thriving gaming company, turns a heartbreaking event into a girls’ trip. While on the “honeymoon” Mediterranean cruise, the ladies meet a group of NFL players and become instant friends.
What started as a flirty friendship between Billie and Preston twists into a wedding nightmare due to Preston’s big yapper and the misguided press believing that the new billionaire and quarterback were on a honeymoon cruise together. Greedy for more buzz, the press discovers secrets and makes assumptions, putting the two lovers-turned-enemies’ careers at risk.
To keep their fans and board members happy and their careers intact, they must get married. For reals. Billie’s dream of a happily ever after wedding crumbles to pieces, and it’s all Preston’s fault. Of course, Preston doesn’t believe he’s entirely to blame, especially since she wasn’t exactly forthright about her identity.
Can they make a marriage work and keep the press from discovering the lies? Or will their secrets and prejudices tear them apart and destroy their careers?
Games of a Billionaire is a swoony, kissing-only/no-spice, clean-language romance comedy.
This was such a unique book! I don’t often read books with gamer main characters, much less FMCs as gamers so this was such a fun experience to read 😄 I loved the little jokes and quirks at the beginning of chapters; they added a fun little laugh to every new chapter. On another note, I absolutely ADORE this book cover!! 😍 It makes my eyes SO HAPPY!!
While this book was not perfect, it was still a story that I could enjoy. Billie was such a great FMC! I loved her wild and amazing red hair (I’m a huge fan of red hair lol) and the fact that she had her fair share of freckles (I’m also a freckled, fair skinned girlie). The fact that she had an adopted daughter added a fun dimension to the story 🥰 Of course my favorite aspect of Billie was that she was a very successful creator of video games. I love a gamer girlie!
Preston wasn’t my favorite from the beginning, but he had his good parts! I love that he was a gentleman (we all appreciate a good gentleman 😉). I did not love that he made some quick assumptions about Billie and then operated as though they were facts. Thankfully he redeemed himself with his caring attitude and overall sweetness towards Billie and Cas ♥️
This book was a bit more on the edge as far as sweet, clean reads go. It wasn’t open door by any means, but it did have a touch more innuendo than typical for sweet romcoms. It also had a bit more language than I prefer in a clean read.
4.5⭐️ ARC Review: This book was such a pleasant surprise! I absolutely loved it. The writing was so well done, the plot was well thought out, and it was fast paced. I was never bored. Every part of this book was intentional and I never felt like things were thrown in there just to make it longer. It was just so well done.
The characters, Billie and Preston, and their growing relationship throughout the book was adorable and realistic, and I loved it. Honestly, they are some of my favorite characters. And I mean a marriage of convenience? Like, we all know why I loved this lol. Aaaand half of the book took place on a cruise and that was so much fun! There were also a bunch of football players who I think (sincerely hope🤞🏻) will have their own stories.
Also, the whole gaming aspect of it I thought was gonna be a turn off for me, but I actually enjoyed it. It also wasn’t overwhelming. Like they weren’t just a bunch of nerds or anything lol. So if you’re not into gaming, don’t worry, I think you would still enjoy this a lot.
More people need to know about this book! So glad I found this author. I highly recommend it.
*Thank you to the author, Christine Walter, for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Read if you enjoy: - Dual POV - Marriage of convenience - Football romance - Billionaire romance - Single mom - Hidden identity - Forced proximity
Content 💋: - Kisses only/closed door - No language - Very mild infrequent innuendo
You know.... I wrote this review late at night after binge reading the whole book in one sitting. But this morning, I realized I am totally hooked on this book. Replaying different parts, moments on the cruise, moments off the ship, moments when I wondered would the two main characters realize what was happening between them. I really liked this story! I'm not quite ready to move on. I can't wait for Christine to write more! I keep opening back up my Kindle and rereading my highlights over and over! ❤️
->She's a Billionaire ->He's a football player ->Friends to enemies to lovers ->Forced Proximity ->Marriage of Convenience ->Closed door w/steamy kisses
🛳When Billie's friend is left at the alter, she accompanies her on her honeymoon cruise. It's there that she meets a popular football player Preston. When they meet the first time they certainly don't hit it off. But over time with lots of meet-ups and being neighbors they start to grow on each other. He's starting to mean something to her, he is starting to catch feelings for her. But when a rumor comes out on the ship that she's after his money, the connection goes sour. Billie has no need for for his money, since shes been hiding the fact shes a billionaire! BUT if you thought that was the end of their time together, you are sadly mistaken. When yet another rumor surfaces at end of the trip that has them labeled as "married", for the sake of their businesses they have to just go with it. But they are very much at odds. And they both don't trust the other with their hearts. So they try their hardest to keep the feelings from returning. But with forced proximity, a shared bed, and forced kisses for the public... the lines are getting blurred!
Billie and Preston take you on an emotional rollercoaster and you will not want to get off! From being at odds to catching feelings, to being at odds again to getting a marriage of convenience... this story will keep you turning those pages!
This is a closed door romance, but it does contain a bit of s-xual innuendo/discussions. Plus, there are lots of steamy makeout sessions / dancing, and some one bed settings - > just kisses.💋 It is closed door with level 2/3 intimacy.
***I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and reflect my personal thoughts and experiences with the book.
"If this were a game, I'd be soaring so high, no one would be able to stop me."

“I believe you.”
-Games of a Billionaire is a romantic comedy, that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. From start to finish, both Billie and Preston are being at odds with their feelings, which progresses to being at odds again to getting a marriage of convenience. But with forced proximity, a shared bed, and forced kisses for the public...the fake seems to melt away, and hearts are hopeful for something more, together. It’s a story that will have you wanting to get on the next cruise ship and be whisked away. Watching this couple get past the fake and the press down their throats to something more, as a real couple and family was tender and heartwarming. Seeing them choose each other with trust leads, definitely leads to great happiness, ahead. This is a quick, but humorous, and fun story! This story shows that sometimes in the expected adventures of life, there is still the possibility of happiness! 🙌🏻📚☺️
“I plan to make you happy, every possible second I can for the rest of my life.”
•Content: a bit of innuendo/discussions. Plus, some steamy makeout sessions/dancing, some one bed settings, and some alcohol.
This fun story definitely made me want to go on a cruise. 😀 The friendships in the story were beautiful and the flirting was fantastic!
Billie’s best friend gets stood up at the alter and begs Billie to go on the honeymoon cruise with her. Preston is on the same cruise with his football buddies. Billie and Preston are attracted to each other, but past hurts keep them apart until on their return home they find themselves in an unexpected fake marriage. Can they find love or will their secrets keep them apart?
Highlights: When they dance together 💃🕺 The strong family relationships The fun Mario Kart scene
I love Billie for how she can be private, but can give a feisty defense. I love her generosity and her loyalty.
I love Preston for how protective he is and for how much of a gentleman he is. So sweet and considerate.
This was my first novel by this author, and I absolutely LOVED it! The story felt fresh with its unique heroine and unusual settings. I literally laughed out loud several times and was rooting for these characters. From the first page, I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading. To be honest, it's been a while since a story had me this hooked.
If you're wondering about spice level, this story has plenty of kissing and some very limited, vague caressing. Nothing more. But there are plenty of fireworks!
If cussing bothers you, there isn't any to speak of. There are a couple cute mentions of psuedo-cussing when the football players are deliberately watching their language for one reason or another. But otherwise the language is clean.
I loved this marriage of convenience rom com! There was a lot of great humor and I loved the plot! I love Billie and Preston’s relationship and how the conflicts they have are resolved in a timely manner. I loved how despite Billie and Preston’s mistakes, they learned to trust and open up to each other. I love how this book has strong family relationships and the story flowed really well. This book was fun to read and kept my interest.
The romance didn’t go beyond passionate kissing and there was mild swearing. I loved how sweet and funny this story was!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
There was no doubt in my mind that this one would be good. I have read a few of Christine’s books already, so I was not surprised that I finished this one in a few hours.
I loved the whole billionaire/marriage of convenience situation. The fact that this didn’t take place in a small town setting or something else as equally cliché, made me enjoy this one even more. Christine delivered again, keeping the reader on its toes about what’s going to happen next.
If you’re into romcoms with an edge & an original twist to some romance reading tropes, you’re in for a treat! This made me laugh so much & I cannot possible wait for Christine’s next release!
A really fun, quick read and wonderfully inexpensive way to get away from it all! Billie goes on a honeymoon cruise with her jilted at the altar best friend where she meets Preston, the quarterback of a professional football team. Preston is wary of gold diggers, so is cautious at first around Billie. He doesn't know that Billie is a new billionaire thanks to her video gaming company. Friendship, flirtation, misunderstandings, and a fake marriage fill out this sweet romantic comedy. The riddles and sayings at the start of each chapter are a fun added element.
This is an entertaining read. I loved Billie's billionaire kick-butt strong woman character and brains. Preston is caring in a way that I appreciated. The dual pov in this helped understand what both parties were feeling and helped to move the story along well.
I loved this one! So fun to see a FMC in gaming... Especially where she's the CEO! It was fun to see their relationship start on a cruise and how they accidentally end up having to get married... Loved this one!
