I am glad that I got to be apart of the ARC team for this. This is my first book by Cassandra and I really enjoyed it, it is fast past and reverse age gap book where the female character is the oldest. I love how their relationship grows quickly and the spice is 5/5!! Charlie is protective of Ana and I love me a good protective man.

Before I begin, I want to thank the author, Cassandra Vega, for giving me this ARC.
I like the concept and the base of it. I just think the way it was executed wasn't for me. It could've been done in a more building way, if you know what I mean. I just didn't like that it was all in from week one. That just wasn't for me. I like the tropes and I have read books like this before; I just didn't like the execution of it here.
I know all of this sounds pretty harsh, but I'm just trying to be honest.

In a story of deeply rooted obsession, this age gap rockstar romance (she’s older) is so full of spice you may need an extra glass of ice water nearby to get through it. Who doesn’t want to be referred to as a goddess? I know I wouldn’t mind!
I loved getting to see Ana explore herself as a woman, building confidence and understanding of her own desires while Charlie got to reap the benefits!
I personally just adored Sloane and Callan’s story so much I think it’ll be hard to top for me. If you’re a fan of an older FMC getting a second chance at love, drama, and stories of self exploration and determination, Her Nightshade will not disappoint!

Well I think I found my first trigger, and I was so excited to read this book.
While I understood that this was a toxic/possessive love going into this book, I guess I didn’t realize the degree of toxicity. I only got to the point where I only really saw Charlie get super possessive and toxic. I felt like Charlie was super insecure when it came to his love with Ana and his need to only have him for himself, just basically wanting to isolate her. The way he reacted to Ana wanting to spend time with her daughter was a huge turnoff for me. I understand the age gap and you might not understand the relationship between of mother and her children, but you can’t expect her to not spend time with her daughter.
I guess for me it just felt too similar of a situation I watched one of my best friend’s go through and it was very traumatic for her, and while the aspects aren’t the same, the mindset of isolation was. This book is just too real and similar to that situation that I can’t continue it.
I’m sure this book is amazing and if you love possessive/toxic and instalove tropes, I’m sure this would be great for you.

I really enjoy reading this book! I was part of the ARC team and so happy I got to read this because the story instantly hooks you in. I felt the author truly brought out the tropes, especially the toxic/possible trope, you definitely get that! It’s fast pace, spicy, sexy, funny and you fall into the spirals of north Charlie’s and Ana’s obsession for each other, that you can’t help but love these characters.

I was a little Leary going into this book. I had read the first one and it wasn't really for me but, this one was more my speed. The instant or near instant love in these books seems a little much but the pure devotion (obsession with) to Ana that Charlie shows is portrayed beautifully. Whether we accept it or not we all have a dark side and Cassandra Vega shows just how deep and both of them are willing to go for their relationship and each other.

First and Foremost, This story needs a huge giant trigger warning at the beginning. There are themes that are not suitable for all readers including addiction, age gaps, kidnapping, knife and blood play, pet play, stalking, unaliving, non consensual adult content, etc. Please be aware this novel has very mature and graphic content.
I received the ARC copy of this book. My first ever ARC! So thank you Cassandra Vega for this opportunity. I realized when I began reading that this is the second book in the series and went back to read the first book. This continuation in the series follows Ana and Charlie through their “love story”. At the end of “His Red Carnation” I was very interested in Ana getting her HEA. Ana’s story was significantly darker than I anticipated. It gave me similar feelings as to when I was reading “Haunting Adeline” and “Hunting Adeline” for the first time. That being said. I think this story could have a little more world building for the characters to develop. The first novel also had a very quick beginning. I think Cassandra Vega has a very specific stylistic approach to writing but with a little more background and world building, it could change my review from ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Charlie is obsessive and almost terrifying to read from his POV the way he convinces himself everything he is doing is okay. It’s interesting to read from POV of someone who is that devoted to another to the point of obsession and almost psychosis. Everyone around him is watching him lose himself in this woman and watch his interests disappear. He is so obsessed with Ana to the point of following her ex husband who is a former president with intent to harm him and others to protect the women he loves.
Ana seems soft on the outside but she is strong and knows what she wants. She is okay with her 18 year old daughter getting married to her ex bodyguard 20 years her senior and has a psycho rockstar lover. Shes also an ex First Lady which is a crazy life! Girl has a LOT going on. But she makes time for a nightly 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ iykyk. She’s got a freaky side to her that she has always wanted to let loose and this is her opportunity. She is also terrified of Charlie and what he is capable of doing. Her daughter doesn’t like Charlie either which makes Ana feel at ends. But like also why does Jake just up and become a crazy dude. Ana has a type clearly. It’s also said that Jake is another crazy dude but was also the president. Crazy stuff.
These two lovers were toxic to each other. The sex was delightful but everything else was coming apart in their lives. They are both lost in lust to each other. They both see the red flags and the warning signs yet they continue to ignore them because of the pleasure they feel when they are together. The ending of this novel was very unexpected. Bringing Jake back in to be the ultimate “bad guy” was an interesting play to make Charlie the “hero” character. Messy. Messy. Yet I was enthralled through every page. Not the ending I expected however I wasn’t disappointed either.
I did have to stop at one point bc I was a wee triggered. But I pushed through and skipped what I couldn’t handle.

Cassandra Vega, did it again!!! I couldn't wait for Her Nightshade and Cassandra delivered! Her Nightshade is book 2 of the Forbidden Bloom duet. His Red Carnation is book 1, I suggest you read that one first.
This story is about Ana, former first lady and Carlie, a Rockstar. You have a female dom, a toxic sub male, 12 years age gap (she's older), obsession and jealousy, and my favorite self-discovery. You got one hell of a book!!!
Charlie meets Ana at a gala about 6 months after the whole scandal from book 1. His obsession starts when he first lays eyes on her. He is intense, and through the whole story, I was just waiting to see how this was going to end.
Ana is independent and strong. She wasn't ready for a relationship. That’s what she kept telling herself. Charlie was not going to let her go and had to prove to her that they were made for each other. He has dark secrets and abandonment issues. Ana herself has darkness within her, and he sure brings it out of her. They can be themselves around each other. He can be dark and vulnerable and not be ashamed or embarrassed of his wants and needs. Ana can be that controlling, dom she has hidden away. These two accept each other's flaws and scars.
When they become public, not only do they need to worry about and deal with the media, backlash, and opinions from friends and family, but the danger that comes from them being together. Ana has to make a decision to protect the ones she loves. Charlie himself has to make one too to protect the women he craves, lives for, and loves. The one he would do anything for and will not let go.
The twist in this one left me having to reread when it came into the storyline because it left me in shock. It came out of nowhere. Kudos Cassandra on that!!! I was hooked from page one, but that twist really had me on edge. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+++ and the spice...Ana and Charlie couldn't keep their hands off each other. They not only had that emotional connection but the physical connection, it was wild! Let's just say Ana came to play, with a leash, collar, and be my good boy 😏 The scenes that had them playing, well written Cassandra 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶+++.

This is a reverse age gap, all kinds of obsessed and it goes both ways, look at her and die, who has ever hurt you because they're dirt napping, insta love that is so incredibly satisfying! It's seeing the insanity and how dangerous this kind of fixation and need is and saying but I love it and just owning it and embracing the madness and it just works so well. You get lots of good boy, the dynamic of having Ana in charge of Charlie is sexy, there's hordes of paparazzi, an ex who's growing more psycho by the day, jobs at risk, and relationships hanging by a thread, and still you can see that Charlie makes Ana feel beautiful and safe to need someone for the first time and she grounds him, making this one crazy ride to happily ever after that you just don't wanna get off of.
This is hot, there' s a whole lot of can't keep they're hands to themselves, and somehow it makes you feel good. I'm not sure if it's because of how all in and obsessed Charlie is or if it's because Ana is a woman who has been dragged through the mud by her cheating ex and the paparazzi that followed the story and Charlie makes her feel so desired but this is like a super smutty hit of it feels good to see him want her like that, do anything for her, and it feels equally good to see her embrace it. It's got a little action and blackmail that add a super delicious hint of danger, he writes her like a full set list of songs about how much he loves her, and she keeps his dark secrets, and I'm telling you you're loving every dirty, out of control, obsessive second.

Every time I read a book by Cassandra, I’m convinced to be like this is my new favorite of hers. I thought I was obsessed with Sloane and Callan, but obviously mama knows best because Ana’s book was worth the wait. Along with that there was appearances from Sloane and Callan, and I was so excited to see them in this book.
Her Nightshade is the second book, even though it is an interconnected standalone and it can be read without the first one I do recommend(more of a you should because it’s one of my favourite books) reading His Red Carnation first. Ana being the former First Lady and after the changes that happens in the first book she isn’t looking for anything serious. That’s when she meets Charlie at event, who is 12 years younger and he is very clear about wanting to go on a date with her. Ana was hesitate at first, she told him that if he could find a way to contact her that she would. But you’ll find out as a book goes on if that was the best decision or not. Oh my god! One of the best parts of the book is Charlie. Charlie is a little crazy but I love him. The definition of a crazy man you would run away from in real life. But why did this book have me feeling bad and falling for him? The way both of these characters and story line is it’s so well written. I definitely see myself reading Her Nightshade again.

I didn’t know it was possible to hate a character more than what I felt at the end of His Red Carnation but some how Cassandra Vega made it possible. I literally ended that book heated and hoping Ana got her dream man. Then some how the ex still pops up and tries to ruin everything. If you could smack a fictional character, I would like to smack Jake. Thank you very much!

Toxic, obsessive, and utterly beautiful. Her Nightshade captures the darker, more devious side of love and passion. Ana & Charlie’s love story is unbridled and raw - new, twistyer kind of love story!
After reading His Red Carnation with Sloane and Callan, I couldn’t wait to read about Ana’s (Sloane’s mom). I was so intrigued by Charlie and Ana’s first encounter - from that moment at the gala you knew it was going to be good. Charlie (28) is a rockstar who finds himself in the presence of Ana 40) former First Lady. She has been through the wringer with her ex-husband and is just looking to keep a low profile. Which is the exact opposite of what she gets with Charlie.
This book is PACKED with tension, deception, and delicious spice! The way Ana knows what Charlie needs, and how she gives him a safe space to explore his desires is amazing. While yes, Charlie is intense, he is completely and absolutely devoted to Ana. Things between Ana and Charlie are all-consuming, things take a few deadly twists and turns however, they are able to weather the storm together - utterly devoted to one another.
I can’t thank Cassandra Vega enough for the early copy to review! I am such a sucker for the way she writes dark, gritty romances! She always throws so much emotion, spice, and suspense into her books! They are highly addictive!

Charlie, a famous British rock star, has a chance encounter with Ana, a former First Lady. From their first meeting, they are instantly drawn to each other that feels different and dangerous from the start. At times, it felt overwhelming on how all-consuming their relationship was. Filled with possessiveness, obsession, and a need to own one another. Understanding where that stems from for both characters made the reading a little easier for me to become invested in their love story.

It was quick, spicy, spicy, and a fun read that you don't realize that despite the toxic nature of their relationship, you can't help but pull for them and their happiness. This isn’t a sweet love story by any means this is a toxic to the core story. From the beginning they are possessive and obsessive. Far from being a healthy love story, but for them it works. I haven’t read a truly toxic story in so long and this one was so well done! Charlie is enamored from the beginning and he quickly becomes unhinged in his obsession with Ana. While Ana knows Charlie is unhinged and potentially dangerous instead of being scared she thrives in his obsession.
If you want something dark and twisty that will keep you sucked in you absolutely need to have Her Nightshade on your TBR!

✨ Book Review: Her Nightshade by Cassandra Vega ✨
I went into Her Nightshade without reading the first book, and honestly? You can absolutely get away with it. From the start, this story had me hooked—full of toxic, obsessive love, unpredictable twists, and some of the hottest spice I’ve read in a while.
Charlie, the rockstar, is younger and completely consumed by Ana, who’s older and more reserved. I’m so used to the dynamic of older men and younger women, so this switch was so refreshing—especially with Charlie in the submissive role. Every time we got inside his head, his obsession with Ana was intense, and when it shifted back to her, I was constantly second-guessing where she stood. Was she just as obsessed, or was she simply playing along?
The tension, the unpredictability, the insane levels of spice—I truly didn’t know where this book would take me, but somehow, I fell completely in love with it. If you love dark, toxic romances that keep you on edge, this one is a must-read.

First, a huge thank you to the author for the ARC! This was my first book by Cassandra, and while this particular story wasn’t quite for me, I can definitely appreciate her writing and the appeal of this book for the right reader.
Her Nightshade is a dark, obsessive romance between Charlie, a famous rock star, and Ana, a former First Lady. Their connection is instant, intense, and full of possessiveness, devotion, and reckless passion. If you love an all-consuming, “good boy” dynamic with praise kink and fem/dom elements, this book will deliver exactly that.
For me personally, I tend to gravitate toward slow burns and emotional build-up, so the fast-paced intensity of Ana and Charlie’s relationship didn’t quite click. That’s purely a personal preference, not a flaw in the book itself! Cassandra’s writing kept me engaged, and I’d absolutely try another of her books with a different romantic dynamic.

I have waited for this book! I was so excited to get an ARC of it!! It did not disappoint at all. It had the best mix of smut, sweetness, stress, and frustration. I wanted to throttle Charlie most of the book because sir you need to get slapped but he does redeem himself in the end. I had to take a break because he annoyed me so much but I gave him a second chance When the teaser says he’s toxic man is he is! Ana has been through it with these last two books and I’m happy to see her get a happy ending. It was also good to see the villains get theirs in the end as well. I went into this book having read the first and knowing how the last one ended I knew the conflict would be good but damn. Karma is a bitch and I am glad to see those get theirs. No notes!

I do feel like their relationship was too fast burn and a little underdeveloped for me. I just wanted to see a couple more interactions where they got to know each other better. That being said, I still enjoyed this book.

It took little work for Charlie to earn that drink from Ana. Her Nightshade is an age gap, rockstar falls first for the former first lady, obsessive and lust filled read. Ana is recently divorced and is getting back to the normal world after a public divorce from the former president. She meets Charlie, a rockstar at a charity event. Her Nightshade is insta lust/love with no slow burn. Ana knows what she wants and goes for it. Charlie is obsessive and no one can keep him away from his “diosa”. No relationship is perfect and you get to experience this in the book from various sides. Not only are they public figures but also Ana has a messy past that just won’t stay in the past. The relationship between Ana and Charlie is spicy and Ana gets to explore her Dom side.
I loved that this was an age gap that gave Ana’s life after a divorce but also we saw her explore her bedroom preferences.

I loved this book! I have been in a little bit of a reading slump, and this book pulled me right in!
Age-gap is my absolute favorite trope, but this is my first where the FMC is older. This book was so so different from the age-gaps I have read in the past. This was not the cutesy, forbidden age-gap. This was like the most toxic and intense love story I’ve read in a while, and I LOVED IT!
First and foremost, the spice is so hot from the start! I was like 5% in when I was messaging my friends that the book was so hot. About 50% in, I had to update them that it was actually an insane book, but I was loving it.
I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for something unique with a strong woman navigating how to keep her power without losing herself in the toxicity of her new love story.

This one continues from the first book where we get to delve into the life of Ana after the events of the first book. Ana meets Charlie, who is a few years younger than him and fights her growing interest in him because of their age difference. However, she finally decides to live her life the way she wants and embraces everything. Charlie is young and has some obsessive tendencies. We see this a lot with his relationship with Ana.

As it's going, all the "red flag" bells are going off, and I'm yelling at my book to run, as being in a relationship that I ignored red flags it hit home for me. This book takes the "red flags" and twists them to an amazing ending!!
Her daughter and soon to be Son in Law are some of my favorite characters in this book!!
