A marvelous journey through the personal, historical, literary and dare one say, mystical relationship between cats and women. Needless to say, this is a must read for anyone who loves and/or lives with a cat. The old adage that dogs have masters but cats have staff is very true but cats offer so much more to the patient human. The writer describes in a well researched and amusing manner the interaction between cats and humans. The writing is excellent, the structure of the book first class and the production values very high (well done Affirm Press).

Do yourself a favour and get it/read it. In fact, if you are acquainted with J. D. Vance why don't you buy a copy and send it to him as a present? He will like it. Miaow!

Excellent.

If the feminist movement had a bible, ‘The Feminine Mystique’ written by second-wave feminist pioneer Betty Friedan would be the Old Testament and ‘We should All Be Feminists’ by bad ass Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie would be the Second Testament.

And the ‘Cat Lady Manifesto ‘is what I pack in my backpack to take to feminist bible study.

A tribute to the women (and men) who boldly stood against the status quo and messed up the model ideology that was deemed appropriate.

Generously sprinkled with wit and soul sharing from Anna, I found myself hugging this puce pink coloured book close to my heart while I ingested it all and most importantly, I was feeling less lonely.

The 21st Century rolled out the Woke generation, #metoo movement and Times Up, the cat was out of the bag, seeing rich and powerful folks go down in disgrace and ultimately people began to talk and share their trauma and have accepted that what happened to them was NOT OK.

And then out of nowhere we also saw Roe V Wade get overturned and red states taking a deep dive into the Salem witch trial era. But wait, it gets scarier.

In the horizon we were going to see Americas first black female president who championed woman’s reproductive rights, and she had an army of Childless Cat Lady’s.

Things took a sharp turn and Donald got the keys to White House…. again.

After that I got very sad, very angry and very very scared. Will Australia be next? Eeep.

‘Cat Lady Manifesto ‘aligns purrfectly with today’s social climate and Queen Anna of the Go-Go kept me wanting more and more. Paying homage to the fiercest cat mamas and papas who I’ve long admired ( including my fantasy wife, Eartha Kitt ) and introducing me to unknown cat mamas and papas whose names now appear on my browser history.

Anna also touches on the public scrutiny placed on woman without children and who more prefer to live their lives with their furry companion. The jokes and redundant opinions I receive for choosing not to have children and who deems her cats as her children; Jesus Tap Dancing Christ, get a life.

Through Anna’s words and wisdom of woman’s rights and her love for cats I have found a hero.

I loved this book! Considering it deals with some pretty weighty topics, and was birthed from a horrendous experience of medical mysogyny, it's very light and fun to read. I giggled my way through all them cat FACTS, and will forevermore be wary of men who don't like cats. Major red flag. This book is a perfect witchy concoction of nature-worhip, lifely wisdom, feminism, and laughs. It's very uplifting. I'm now more convinced than ever that my childhood cat was a mother from a previous life. Thanks for weaving your magic Anna!!!
