Melodies That Bind

Rate this book
They tried to take my voice. But I’m not done singing.

I’ve spent my life onstage, my every move controlled by people who see me as nothing more than a brand—a voice, a face, a product to sell. But when I wake up in a hospital bed, my throat raw, my tour canceled, and my career hanging by a thread, I realize the they never cared about me.

Worse, the man responsible for my attack is still out there, spinning lies, trying to pin it all on someone I trust. The media is eating it up. The label wants me silent. But I’m done playing their game.

They tried to break me. Now, I’m taking my voice back.

Leah Steele grew up with sunshine and beaches, but now lives in the Midwest. She’s an awkward introvert who’s better left alone until she’s had her morning cup of coffee. If you can’t find her behind her laptop or a kindle, there’s a good chance she’s on a hiking trail taking scenic photos, or traveling around America.

Omg, this made me cry so hard, from the beginning and a lot of the way through.
I’ve suffered with depression for a years; this is one of the best representations I’ve read in a long time. No easy fixes, feeling broken and separated from those who love you even when you can’t love yourself. My heart broke for Raina, this was no easy route through the trauma she suffered. I shouldn’t have been so shocked about D***less blaming Dare, and his treatment of her post trauma but I was. Also Napalm Delights……..🤬🤬
This gave me such a sense of satisfaction, threads tied up, relationships healed, and intimacy achieved. It was beautiful.
And that deleted scene at the end 👌🏻💋

Well, here we are. Finally at the end of Survival Records, and let's be honest, Raina's story wasn't exactly a feel good type of journey. There was a lot of struggle throughout--physical, emotional, and mental as well, and that's a lot for one girl to handle when it all seems to just keep bombarding her no matter how hard she tries to continue on. For the longest time, she had no one on her side, but in this final book especially, you really get to see a different side of Raina…a side where she has love, support, friendship, and people that truly believe in her and wish her the best and to see how much having people like those in her life and can turn outlooks around even when the bad things are still coming at her. Seriously, the guys, Izzy, and Gill really made a world of difference for Raina's healing just by being there for her when she needed them.
This book is all about fresh starts, growth, a rebirth of sorts if you will. Even starting back at what felt like ground zero, Raina persevered. It wasn't easy and it took a lot of dedication and work, but the wait was worth it, and at this point, Raina deserved her happiness using her own words in the way that she wanted. I think that is all any artist wants, to be able to express themselves in the way they desire without anyone trying to prevent them from enjoying their art or to stop them from doing what makes them the happiest.

The ending of book two was BRUTAL and I have been desperate to see how Raina could come back from that cliffhanger. This book was all about healing, physically and mentally, for not only Raina but her guys too. Raina's journey to recovery is full of struggles and her injuries didn't magically go away over night, nor did the trauma that went along with the attack. You can't help but root for her as she has overcome so much since book one and I love how strong she is.

Raina and her guys step back from the spotlight for the majority of the book while she heals and I loved the forced proximity x found family bonding. I felt that a lot of key events happened off page towards the end though and there were a couple of characters who just dropped out completely which left me wondering what had happened to them. I was desperate to see some on page confrontation after everything Raina had been through but it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

Despite each guy having their own spicy scenes, the Darius and Tristan were nudged to the forefront this time round. Darius was a breath of fresh air but Tristan getting back on track was one of my favourite parts and I really enjoyed his development. The heart to heart about his mum to Raina was one of my highlights where we finally get to see glimpses of the boy Raina fell in love with. He hasn’t quite pipped Grayson as my favourite Leah Steele MMC but he’s in the top three for sure!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Take a deep breath and have some tissues ready

Melodies That Bind is the third and final book in this contemporary rock RH. And what an ending this author gave us.

Raina's story has been filled with such turmoil that readers should expect nothing less as it flows into the final book. When you think she has nothing else that can be taken away from her...you'd be wrong. An attack almost takes her life and it causes lasting damage. Raina, with the help of the guys, will have to see if she can rebuild that part of her life.

It was good to see her uncle get some of what he deserved, but I wish it had been more. He was absolutely horrible. The same with her parents.

But the best part of this book was seeing Raina's perseverance. Of not standing by. Of working hard. Of not completely falling apart or just giving up when things got hard. Of seeing if her career might have a different path. Of finding her true self.

I loved all the guys. The support they showed and how they stood by Raina. I loved seeing Darius and Tristan and their part in this group.

This ending was a great way to send these characters off and a very satisfying way to wrap up this series. Outstanding!

I loved reading Melodies that Bind. This is the second series that I have read by Leah Steele. I cannot wait to read more. While I am sad that this is the conclusion to the series, I am excited to see what else Leah will come up with in the future. I loved the character development of Tristan and Raina throughout the series. I love how Raina works through all her trauma, and it is empowering to see. Keaton and Tristian are my favorites of the guys. At first, I didn't care for Tristain, but he grew on me.
I could not put this series down; I absolutely loved it.
I will say that this is more for 18+ readers, as some content isn't suitable for some readers, and it is important to mind the trigger warnings (shopping list) since they can be pretty heavy to some. I highly recommend reading Melodies that Bind. I loved reading this so much! This is a series that needs to be read in order to make sense.

conclusion

4.3 stars
I loved the conclusion of the survival records trilogy. It had so much heart and the author is amazing at being true to mental health rep. To some this book may be too much so please read the warning at the beginning of the book because it is heavy. What the FMC goes through is very detailed and very real. The relationships are believable and the vulnerability shown in the characters drive the story. Leah is an amazing author and I hope so many people read her books. Her storytelling will make you feel and want to keep feeling. The spice is spicy. I would have loved for more on the epilogue because although we get an HEA after what the characters went through (and they do go through it) I generally love to see more of them having that life. Not all authors do this and maybe we will get a bonus epilogue in the future or a second gen?

This series was such a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. You never knew what really was going to happen, but this last book was such a redemption. It’s heavy, so please be mindful of your own mental health as it doesn’t stray from the hard topics.

My favorite thing about this final book was Tristan and Darius. The groveling from Tristan and seeing him become the man he needs to be, I mean who doesn’t love a man desperate for his woman?! And Darius being everything Raina needs him to be. Not to mention seeing these two come together in unity with the band. It truly was found family trope perfection.

I would have liked to see some more karma come to Raina’s uncle and possibly even her parents, but justice is served in the end and Raina and her guys end up in the perfect spot.

I can’t wait to read more from Leah, she is such an epic storyteller!

This book was even worse than the last one.i am disappointed. Having the cliffhanger resolve itself off page, basically, to over 2/3 of the book pretty much being a long epilogue, I got so bored that I was just quickly flipping through pages by the end. I just wanted it over.

Why, oh why, did she never step forward to bring light to her uncle and all his behavior with the label? Even at the end she was a doormat for him and just let the label do what they way, despite the lawsuit.

This book had even less plot than the first one. It was a long epilogue about her recovery from attack and moving forward from there.
The important things I wanted to see was her uncle or the label get exposed. At the least the other band. This just left loose ends

I will not read this again and will not recommend for others.

Survival records

This story features a Music industry backdrop with a corrupt and degenerate protagonist. SPOILERS: We meet Raina in book one after she has been a pop star for several years. She's so unhappy that she tries to drown in the ocean. As the series goes on we discover that her adopted uncle is a predator who rapes her, isolates and corrupts her with the help of another band. Her reputation has been smeared in the media and she has no friends, because they changed her phone to prevent communication. The books then follow her relationship with a new band who become her support system. It's a good, predictable story with some deep edges. Her voice recovery takes up most of book three. It's well written. I would have preferred to see a few chapters on the getting even scenarios. I know what happened here is probably realistic, but hey, in fiction can't we get a little more? I really wanted Dickless Lexington exposed and arrested for child molestation and murder for hire, and I wanted Napalm to pay for Tristan's injuries. In detail. In addition to the financial win in court.

𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔~
The final book in the Survival Records series starts where we left off at that emotional cliffhanger in book two. This is all about Raina healing and forging something new and rising up to take back everything that was taken from her. Her guys Nash, Darius, Blake, Tristan and Keaton closing in around her with their love and support. Leah give us the spice along with connections with each of the guys that you can feel coming from the pages. Do do feel like it ends abruptly and felt we could have had at very least had one more chapter or an epilogue.

Blake my glasses wearing Cellist
Tristan lead guitarist
Darius British accented guitarist
Nash the fun bassist
Keaton my favorite drummer

This third book in the Survival Records series was highly anticipated! Just like the first two, I was hooked! I mean who doesn't love a reverse harem, rockstar, an fmc with mental health issues, and mmc's that would fight the world for her! Oh and of course the trigger warnings! Check em if you have them!

The way this story ended was beautiful and a touch emotional after all the trauma our fmc has been through. I do wish the punishment was a bit more harsh for the abusers though. All the questions were answered, the relationships seemed to fall into place and the confidence between them all grew, even as things went public. This book/series is definitely a must read! It's well written and will pull you into the world and these characters until you're on the edge of your seat!

As if Raina hasn’t already been through enough, this book starts with someone choking her and damaging her throat. - I don’t consider that a spoiler since you can read it in the preview. Not knowing if Raina will ever be back on stage or even able to speak was heartbreaking. The guys rallying around her and supporting her without her ever speaking was so amazing. When a fan wrote online, “Take your time, we’re here for you,” I had to take a moment and let the tears clear before I could continue reading. I was rooting for Raina and the guys the whole time. The only downside to this story is I do not believe her uncle got what he deserved. Huge miss right there! I can’t wait to talk the others and see what they think so read this now!

This is the final book in Raina’s story and it’s such a great ending for her story. This book picks up where we left Raina in book 2 and there is so much that happens in her story. Her life has never been easy but in this book she faces what she considers her hardest challenge yet, the one thing that may mean she has to give up what she loves. Her relationship with all the guys becomes something deeper and stronger than ever, and Tristan has a lot of making up to do in this book. Her HEA is hard fought but it’s definitely the one she deserves.

Fantastic Conclusion

This is the third and final book of Survival Records and once again I was hooked start to finish. Get your tissues ready because this is one emotional ride. Leah Steele does a great job of making you feel what these characters are going through. I love Riana and her men and he'll well they just fit together. They have to work hard for their happy ending but its so fulfilling. I would have like just a little more of seeing them happy at the end but this book is absolutely five stars.

This was the emotional conclusion to Raina’s story and what I love most about this book is that it’s really focused on Raina and her healing. She’s healing physically and emotionally, with the support and help of her guys but also through hard work on her own. Raina proves how dedicated she is and how strong she is by buckling down and doing what she needed to be the best version of herself. I’m sure that having Tristan by her side and clearing the air with him is a big help to that as well. Wonderful series!

Story of survival, growth and love! Adored this book!!

What an amazing ending to Survival Records. Raina has survived so much in the last 5 years and Melodies That Bind picks up where book 2 ended. The emotions of her men will hurt your heart and continue to do so as Raina heals. This book highlights the strength of a woman, the love of her men and how they are better together as they give each other strength. This book is not only steamy, but you can feel the connections through the pages. This was one of my most anticipated books and Leah delivered!!! 5/5⭐️

Melodies that Bind is the final book in the Survival Records series and it was just amazing. I absolutely freaking loved this series that I’m so sad it’s come to an end. So bittersweet. I’m so happy that Raina was able to work through her trauma and that she’s so much stronger now. The support of her men is just amazing. So many different emotions while reading the series. Can’t wait for the next series by Leah Steele. Kudos to her for an incredible series!!!!

The conclusion to Raina’s story is here! The Survival Records series has been full of ups and downs as Raina works through so much trauma to become the best version of herself while also building meaningful relationships with five men. This book threw me into my feelings with these characters as they found a good flow with each other. This finale was fast paced, deliciously spicy, and the perfect ending for this trilogy!

What an amazing end to this series. This part is all about healing, her whole life she had to fight, and what seemed like a fight she had to do on her own. Now she has the strength of her bandmates and best friends surrounding her, each one of them have their own healing to do. This was such an emotional read, i absolutely loved this whole series! I can't wait to read it again.

This was such a beautiful and all consuming read!
Raina was on quite the emotional journey in this book. Everything she was feeling, the pain and anger and then slowly growing and healing. Her men were wonderful with her. They gave her support and love.
I think this was an excellent conclusion!

Have some tissues ready! I was full on sobbing by the time I got to the end of this story! It’s beautifully tragic. Raina and the guys story is a rollercoaster to say the least! So much has happened to them, and continues to happen to them in this story. I felt for each character and seeing this last leg of their journey was amazing!

This book was an emotional rollercoaster.

Raina goes through so much but does get her HEA.

She heals because of her men - Darius, Tristan, Keaton, Blake and Nash.

Will say I had to check notes since it had been a year since book 2. Wish there was a recap before I started
