Carrie Webster’s life takes a strange turn after a car accident thrusts her into a world she doesn't recognize. Waking up as Rebecca Bennett, a young woman visiting her generous Uncle Bennett, Carrie is swept into the company of new friends—Arthur Holmwood, Dr. John Seward, Lucy Westenra, and Quincey Morris. But something is wrong. The familiar faces are straight out of Dracula, and as Carrie begins to lose her own memories and embrace Rebecca’s identity, she realizes she’s become trapped in a story she knows all too well.
As Lucy Westenra falls prey to Dracula’s deadly attacks, Carrie desperately tries to change the course of events, only to be met with resistance from forces she can't control. Torn between wanting to return to her life and the deepening emotions she feels for one of the characters, Carrie is faced with a gut-wrenching will she fight to find her way home, or is she destined to stay in a world where fiction and reality collide?
Time is running out. And if she’s not careful, she might lose herself—and her heart—forever.
I haven't read the classic Dracula, but now I have been convinced to give it a try. Courtney is such a wonderful story teller and I was thoroughly engrossed in the story the whole time I was reading. While this story is inspired by the events of Dracula you do not have to have read it to read this book. I didn't feel lost at any point throughout, and a the information was given exactly when needed, not too soon and not to late.
I love how resilient Carries character is throughout the story. No matter how badly the male characters want to stay behind, she proves her usefulness as a woman and continues to advocate that woman can work right alongside the men.
Imagine the time travel of Outlander and Dracula combined.
Courtney's writing style is very interesting and she manages to make you feel like you are there as a spectator along side the characters.
The main plot line is not romantic, but there is a romance subplot. I really enjoyed how the book ended as I felt it wrapped everything up so beautifully! I was crying tears of happiness when I finished! If you are a fan of Dracula or just want a unique read then this book is for you! Genre: New Adult Spice: None (just kisses)
