From missing groom, corpses, thread wars, and possums. Hoochville knows how to party!
Sadie and her friends are on a mission to save Raj from being on the hook for the corpses recently discovered. The quirky characters, mystery, sibling rivalry (well mostly Charmayne) and the thread wars, really made this book an entertaining and quick read. I really enjoyed the mystery and liked how we saw Reed and Sadie getting along in this installment. I'm eager to see if the second chance will happen for these two. The narrator, Tiffany Morgan does a great job portraying Sadie. The tones and inflections used for several of the characters are spot on. It felt like I was there in Hoochville investigation, and getting to see what happens in the parade. My eyes!!

A very special thanks to the author for the gifted audiobook.

Murder and Mayhem . . .

My favorite writing duo is at it again trying to sort out the evil-doers and make things right! Early on the day of the wedding, Sadie Sexton’s biggest worry should have been getting Misty Dawn to her big event on time to be married! Unfortunately, the problem is the groom as Raj Patel disappeared from his bachelor party the night before. Raj’s car was still at River Rats bar, according to Sheriff Reed Hawkins, but there was no sign of Raj anywhere. While Sadie was consoling Misty Dawn, the bride-to-be suddenly gasped and ran to the corner to throw her arms around her limping fiance who was slowly making his way toward her. Sadie texted so they could let Reed call off the searchers. Then he rushed over to get the details on what happened. Actually Raj had no idea. He had the stink of riverbank mud on his clothes and a swollen eye. After he showered, Reed had arrived and Raj told him someone called for help from out back at the bar and Raj ran out to see what was wrong. He woke up on the river bank a mile away from the bar and someone had beaten him up. His friends had thought he was in the men’s room so they had no idea where he was. Misty Dawn was about to postpone the wedding, but Raj didn’t want to wait any longer to make her his wife. Since they were getting married at the old prison which is a perfect background for what will be his beaten up look in the wedding pictures! She had always wanted to marry a “bad boy”!

As Misty Dawn was getting ready to take a bite of wedding cake, someone screamed from behind the building. Evan, the prison’s event coordinator, met them and said two bodies were found by the dumpster and both are dead. The bodies had their hands and feet tied, and one had a knife sticking out of his chest -- and the weapon just so happened to be Misty Dawn’s missing cake knife! Both victims were strangers to Misty Dawn, but Reed recognized one of them as Curtis ‘Catfish’ Crawford, the county commissioner. He saw something near the victim’s arm, a dark brown wallet. And inside was Raj’s picture on the driver’s license! Raj is now the likely suspect, especially after his unexplained disappearance from the bachelor party. Who really killed these two victims? Can Sadie and her friends track down the real killer (or killers)? Or will Raj and Misty Dawn have to miss their honeymoon… maybe permanently?

Absolutely loved Crochet and Corpses! It hooked me right from the start....pun intended. I had a hard time putting this one down.

The characters are wonderful and quirky! Sadie is pulled into another murder mystery and the prime suspect is one of her friends. It is quite the double murder and there aren't any clues that leads the police away from the prime suspect. Will Sadie solve this murder, or will her friend go to jail? I'm not going to say anything BUT you have to run to the nearest bookstore, library or computer and get this book to find out. While you are at it get the first two in the series....you won't regret it.

The storyline was amazing and like I said it kept me hooked. It started with a missing groom to be and ended with a parade that didn't go to plan. And I can't forget the protest that made me laugh so hard. It's got something for everyone and you can't help but laugh. I was picturing certain parts in the book in my head and well I laughed so hard. It makes you want to visit Hoochville and become friends with Sadie and her friends.

Highly recommend!

Explosive

Okay, I couldn't resist. But you'll have to read the book to find out why that's my title. More seriously, it is a book with explosive events, large and small, from the murders to a huge food fight in the yarn shop to what happens in the final scene, which I sincerely hope is the least serious explosion.

This is a strong, solid, perfectly paced and plotted mystery. Two men with a lot of power in their state are murdered, the locals know Raj is innocent, but every lead to who the real attacker is falls through. There are just no clues. Until there is.

Even better, this one clue links together numerous events from throughout the book. Murder is never elegant. However, the resolution of these two murders flows so smoothly out from the storyline, elegant is the only word for it.

Last, but not least, there is humor woven in--the raccoons won! And an honorable mention needs to go to Char's pet Elvis for ending the food fight!

Content: Clean; murders are not detailed

Happy Reading!

Sadie should be helping Misty Dawn get ready for her wedding to Raj. It has been a long time in the making and she's never seen two people more in love. But before they can sneak off to their honeymoon a dead body is found!

Poor Raj is usually one of their "ins" during a mystery - spilling little snippets of info to them. Sadly he's now the one in the frame and Sadie and co are not going to sit around and do nothing. if the Sherriff won't listen to their information, well they'll just have to solve it without him!

Another great wee murder mystery set in Hoochville. Charmaine continues being a king size pain and Val her ever-ready toady! Bernie is saint to put up with that woman and her complaining! Sadie and the mystery crew continue to run rings around every bad guy who makes the mistake of stopping in Hoochville. I love the way that the characters all interplay so well and the cast of characters are diverse and representative!

Zero spice mystery with a hint of second chance romance (if Sadie ever gets over her no law enforcement rule!)

Crochet and Corpses is a fascinating, cozy mystery. While the upcoming wedding should be a happy event, the bridegroom disappeared from his bachelor party and never made it home until the next morning, then two bodies are discovered at the wedding venue and the bridegroom is suspected of the murders. Sadie and her friends really have their hands full with this investigation - especially if they want the wedding to happen. There are several suspects and no clear motive in this twisted caper. There is also some knitting, some crocheting and some protests in case your interest wavers from the mysterious deaths. I love all the quirky characters that are in this series. The ending is fabulous. I enjoyed every minute I spent in Hoochville!

Wedding Blues

Two kinds of crimes have been committed in the book - murder and a stolen honeymoon. Misty Dawn and Raj are finally getting married but finding two bodies at the reception puts the spotlight on Raj as the suspect putting a damper on the festivities and honeymoon With the Sheriff's hands tied up in red tape Sadie steps with her friends and save misty Dawn and Rajs future. Sadie utilizes her side kicks more in this book and I loved how each one got their moment to shine. The antics in the yarn store are next level and hilarity ensues. The plot twists and surprises are fabulous and keep you guessing who framed Raj. Add in Peaches, Zeus and Elvis (pets in the story) and you can't help but smile. Looking forward to the next book!

It's another day in Hoochville, so of course there's another murder - two this time actually! Sadie's friends Misty Dan and Raj are finally getting married and she couldn't be more excited. Unfortunately, before they can even start the wedding reception two bodies are found, and the groom is the prime suspect. Sadie and her friends spend their time trying to figure out who the killer is, all while supporting their friend Misty Dawn and holding down their day jobs. Sadie has the added bonus of trying to ingore her feelings for her former boyfriend, the town sheriff...

This was a fun, enjoyable read and I'm already looking to the next book to read about all the fun and hijinks that happen in Hoochville!

I have honestly been a fan of Ramey James for longer than she has been Ramey James... So, I am always excited to dive back into her books. This book was no exception.

This book was far more introspective then the first two books, it started with a long-awaited wedding. (No, not that one) When Misty Dawn marries her high school sweetheart, Raj, she books the local prison to hold her ceremony. While the wedding was fun and sweet, unfortunately, it is crashed by a few dead bodies.

With all clues pointing to Raj, will Misty Dawn's happily ever after end before her honeymoon?

This book kept me guessing and I wasn't exactly sure who did it until the handcuffs came out.

I can't wait until the next installment!

I have been provided with a review copy of Crochet and Corpses from the author and I am voluntarily leaving an impartial review. Crochet and Corpses is the third book in the brand-new A Sadie Sexton Hoochville Mystery series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. We have another mystery on our hands and it’s up to Sadie and her friends to solve the mystery. This was just a really enjoyable read. I was just drawn into the story and you just couldn’t help but feel for these characters. My heartstrings just keep getting pulled and I am just so invested into these characters' lives and relationships. Everything just gets wrapped up nicely and neatly and you are left immediately wanting to know what will happen next. I can't wait to see what's next from this author.

I just finished Crochet and Corpses, and while it’s definitely not a literary masterpiece, it was a cute and enjoyable read. The story leans pretty heavily into cozy-mystery clichés, so nothing felt especially surprising, but that also made it an easy, comforting read.

The budding romance was absolutely adorable and ended up being one of my favorite parts of the book. Reed and Clem were my favorite characters —they were easily the most enjoyable characters and kept me invested.

Overall, this is a cute little book and a quick, easy read. If you’re looking for something light, cozy, and fast to get through, this one fits the bill nicely. 🧶📖

I’ve been with this series since the beginning, and I really enjoy Sadie and her gaggle of friends. In this latest, her friend Misty Dawn is getting married, and thankfully the latest murder happens after the wedding…but the groom is the suspect. It’s a fast ride from the wedding until the end of the book, and I enjoyed every minute. I must admit that Charmayne is still really getting on my last nerve (and Sadie is too with her waffling!). LOL! Well-written and fun, I am eagerly awaiting the next. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

It's Misty Dawn and Raj's wedding day! Finally, after years of asking Misty Dawn to marry him, the big day is here. Unfortunately, two dead bodies are found before they are able to cut the cake. Worst part of it? It looks like Raj is the main suspect. Sadie and her besties help to solve the murder so Raj and Misty Dawn can begin their life as a married couple. All of this while Sadie is trying to ignore her feelings for Reed, Hoochville's sheriff.

I love this series and Sadie and her friends and can't wait for the next book.

When Sadie's best friend's goes to cut the cake at her wedding and they find two dead bodies things get interesting. The new husband gets blamed and Sadie, her friends decide to find the real culprit. When the sheriff is pulled off the case he decides to help Sadie and see what they can figure out. A lot of hilarious events happen at As the Yarn Turns and at the Roadkill Cafe. Sadie and Reed work together really well. The ending was unexpected! This was a good book and I am really enjoying this series!!

4.5 stars. Very enjoyable read in the latest Sadie Sexton series. Each of the books can be read as a standalone, but reading the series definitely is more enjoyable! this story starts out with the day before the wedding of Raj and Misty Dawn. However, mystery and murder derails the couple's honeymoon. Sadie does an excellent job of sleuthing to determine who really committed the murders. A cozy whodunit!

Love it!

This is a fun series to get into. I usually lose a whole day once I've started reading even though I tell myself, "Self, go slow so the book lasts". Do I listen to that little voice? Nope! I binge read the whole book and then want more! If you love laughs, great characters, and trying to solve a mystery before the heroine, then grab the first book in the series and get reading.

CROCHET AND CORPSES BY Ramey James 5 stars pub 4/18/25

Wedding or Murder mystery--both! Some said What do you expect, choosing a former prison as the venue, Others believed the groom was innocent, and then those who believed he wasn't--including most of the authorities.

She promised to find the real killer of the two and set the groom free. All the friends, even the pups, are working. Will they succeed? A good one not to be missed. Can you figure out the real murderer?

Think I’ve enjoyed this the most so far. Sadie gets drawn into another murder mystery. I like her personal growth in this book and she is starting to understand Reed’s position.

There’s sleuthing, protests, murders, stalking and, of course, a bit of knitting and crochet. Well worth a read for an interesting and cosy murder mystery with a side of fiber arts!

Love this series and this book just made it even better! Siblings squabbles and bff’s that have known each other forever are the anchors in this story. The mystery is well plotted and kept me guessing until the end. Looking forward to the next book in the series already!

I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review. A cute cozy mystery that has Misty Dawn wanting to marry Raj but he is now the main suspect in two murders. Sadie and friends must sift through clues, suspects and red herrings to solve this mystery. I love Charmayne and her opossum Elvis which makes for a laugh in this great series. This was a fast read that can be read in a few hours.

Just when Sadie is thinking things are going so much better, Misty Dawn’s fiancee, Raj, goes missing from his bachelor party the night before the wedding. The hunt is on & things go from bad to worse after Raj is located. Crochet and Corpses is a must read to keep up with Sadie & her posse’s adventures in crime.
I received an ARC and this review is solely my honest opinion. .

This is such a fun series with Sadie and her friends. This time, Misty Dawn's finance Raj is missing. When he shows up the next morning, the wedding goes on until two dead bodies show up at the wedding. Now Raj is accused of murder. Sadie and friends are on the case. Reed is taken off the case so now they work together. Is Sadie admitting to feelings for Reed?
The narrator is very good.

This book is just a wonderful mystery with absolutely great characters with personality. It’s funny it’s exciting. It’s smart. I loved all the people in it and I can’t wait to read more about their lives.. I really enjoyed it. It was funny and they did all of this without foul language or gratuitous sex. Just a really great book. I highly recommend it.

Can they discover the truth?

A rather different kind of Cosy but with an intriguing story line. All Sadie (Mae)’s girlfriends have two first names. Her best friend’s husband is arrested for murder at their wedding. Of course, Sadie, is determined to sniff out the real killer. Could get complicated! Jean, ARC

LOVE IT!!

I think this is my favorite books of the series so far!! I love the slow moving romance between Sadie and Sheriff Hottie. The humor was perfect! You can't help but root for Dawn Marie and Raj during this story. Oh! The cliffhanger at the end of each book is such a good idea!! (But also sometimes awful if you can't read the next one right away!) What a fun series!
