I’m disappointed with this book. I got it because I followed the author on Instagram and found her posts informative.

But the book? There is a lot of fluff in there. Repetition, superfluous transitions, summaries… the actual insights are probably 1/3 of the book

And even then, the advice is « do this, but also do the opposite ». I understand breastfeeding isn’t a one way street. But I was left with little information, and A LOT of emotional reinsurance I didn’t need/want

It might be more relevant to me later, but as a soon-to-be-mom it was actually disheartening to read so much about how hard breastfeeding is. Don’t get me wrong - I have no doubt it is.

But mentioning it over and over, without anything else than « take care of yourself » advice? Left me feeling down.

Also couldn’t get behind the suggestion to get a tongue tie release *before* mentioning seeing a chiropractor.

And that fortified cereals, tofu and lean meats were the best sources of iron? Sorry did we forget about red meat?

Anyway would not recommend for actual insights into breastfeeding.

I got this book from my library and ended up buying it to keep on hand. As a busy mom, I really appreciate how the book is broken up in easy to read sections - you can dive deep or just get the high level message.
