I've been looking forward to this book for weeks, read the damn thing in a day and now I've got to wait until summer 2025! This book is awesome, read it. That's it. Oh, and I was reallllyyyy wrong about Zara. She had it coming to her. Oh, Elene. I was so mad when she refused to have extra security and Oleg? Hotness and just wow. Ok, really now - that's it, no spoilers go read this. I'm going to start again bc I read it so fast. Ugh, summer 2025!!
Second update, lol. I just wanted to add that this book is really, really a kissing book. Oleg runs hot, snort. And man is he generous with his fire! I'd like to be Tatyana for a while.
Too many !!!!, I know! My Freshman Composition prof (a real gem, not) introduced himself by saying if anyone used more than one exclamation point with a writing assignment he would drop/fail us and give us a mandatory psych eval, because anyone shouting that much at the end of a sentence was nuts. One idiot tested him, he dropped and referred him for mental evaluation; I know this bc my sister was his TA. I don't know why I shared that, I guess bc I don't want you to think I'm nuts. Like you're ever gonna know me outside of GR's. Whatever!!!!!!!! ;))
I know I'm not supposed to rate but I've been waiting on Oleg's book since Áine and Patrick Murphy's book, The Scarlet Deep. Funny, they seem like old friends, lol. I even hope there's a way to turn Zara around. If it gets put back beyond 12/17 I might just cry.
If you're into PNR, Vamps, Dragons and Fae (First Light, newest and really good) or even contemporary romance, EH's backlist has it all. With seriously good writing. I have a thing for well written words.
An exciting and unpredictable vampire romance that is sexy, smart and well-developed, I devoured this book!
I love Elizabeth Hunter’s multiple Elemental series, and loved diving back into her vampire world! Oleg Sokolov appeared as a side character in the Elemental Legacy series, but I honestly don’t remember much about him from that series. This book can easily read as a standalone - set within the same world, yet there is good world building and no real reference to Hunter’s other books, so you can safely dive on in.
Oleg is an ancient and powerful fire vampire who controls a portion of Eastern Europe. His vampire ‘daughter’, Zara has gone rogue, stealing from him and shacking up with an enemy, and he’s on a mission to bring her back under his control.
Tatyana is a human bookkeeper who worked with Zara. She has no idea about vampires, or the fact that she was working directly with one, but when she approaches Oleg and offers to track down his missing money, she gets dragged into a world she had no idea existed, and she’s got a massive target on her back.
It’s a great set-up, and I was quickly sucked in to Oleg’s world and Tatyana’s introduction to all things vampire. But what really got me excited is the fantastic sexual tension between the two of them. There is an attraction there, and though there are many complicating factors standing in their way, the chemistry is irresistible, and I loved the build-up and the awesome sense of anticipation that you’re on the verge of something epic.
“I would enjoy seducing you.”
It's steamy (literally), but the love story is a definite slow burn. It’s sexy and intense, and though there is romance, it’s not fully there yet, but I was still completely invested, feeling it all and enjoying every moment of the chase.
“You are mine,” he whispered. “I am patient. But you are mine.”
It’s a great ride, and there are some unexpected surprises along the way. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it’s not too painful, and I am fully invested and excited to go where the story goes from here when the series continues.
I will say the first 50% of this book really drew me in. It was giving how I would imagine an 1100 year old vampire to act. Oleg was very confident and self assured in his own skin. There were laws he abided by as well as enforced and there were things he simply didn't like -- like technology. He's seen the world majorly change and technology didn't leave a lot to be desired plus it interferes with his fire magic capabilities. I truly enjoyed his character, at least in the beginning.
Tatyana was an accountant who got mixed up with Oleg's daughter Zara, ended up not being paid for months and decided one day to confront Oleg to get her back pay. She ends up getting her back pay and a new job as his accountant/hacker to find the millions Zara stole and get the money back. Tatyana is a bit desperate for money because she has to take care of her mom who refuses to move from their family home. At first Tatyana is unaware that she's dealing with vampires but then she receives a crash course one night when Oleg comes to her rescue. Oleg is initially drawn to Tatyana at first because she had a slight resemblance to his dead mate but their similarities were definitely few and far between.
The pacing of this story worked very well for me. The worldbuilding and the characters were set. However by the time I got to the 60% mark, things started to change. Plot points were introduced for shock factor it felt like and I didn't understand why a very particular thing with Tatyana had to happen. I won't spoil it but I wasn't a fan of that plot point because the chemistry I felt like I was just starting to feel between her and Oleg went poof. There's another thing that happens with a side character that really made me angry and I honestly didn't care about any of the characters after that. I found it hard to believe for over half the book we were able to know exact details about almost every situation and then suddenly nobody knows anything. The ending left nothing to be desired because it didn't make any sense.
I don't plan to read the next one because of the second half let down which was a bummer but maybe a different Elizabeth Hunter book would be more consistent from beginning to end.
"BLOOD MOSAIC" by Elizabeth Hunter is a dark and enthralling read that hooks you from the first page. The story centers around Tatyana Vorona, an unsuspecting human who unknowingly makes a deal with a ruthless fire vampire, Oleg Sokolov, after his daughter cheats her out of honest pay owed. Tanya becomes bait in a deadly game between Zara, her old employer, and Oleg, her new employer, when really she just wants to be in control of herself. The character development is exceptional, making you feel deeply for Tatyana's plight and Oleg's internal struggle. The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Elizabeth Hunter’s ability to weave a tale of suspense, romance, and supernatural intrigue is truly masterful. This book is a must-read for fans of paranormal fiction and leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. Five stars!
Loved it! So glad to return to this world. If I had to describe this romance it would be as a slow seduction.
"Love shouldn't feel like a trap."
I love this quote from this book. I'm looking forward to reading about how she makes him work for it as this series progresses.
"Oleg was power and possession. He was a lord accustomed to worship, and she could not give him her adoration without hating herself. And if she hated herself, eventually she would hate him."

🩸Ancient Vampire x Human 💫World Building 💥Suspense/Action 💪Protective MMC ❤️🔥Slow Burn
✨️Review I give five, flame-snapping stars to this absolutely riveting first installment in The Firebird and the Wolf series. I'm aching for book two already! Cinematic scope and intriguing characters populate this modern day vampire saga filled to the brim with staggering drama, betrayals, fascinating world building/history, an intimate and complicated slow burn love, and a morally grey vampire in a suit (that can wield an axe like The Northman). This man literally can and will burn the world to protect what he loves.
The thought put into these vampires and how their elemental powers etc works is extraordinary! There is cause and effect to their "magic" in our very real world. Every detail has purpose, even something as small but hugely important, such as Oleg having to fly in a Faraday cage so that his electric energy doesn't short out the electronics!
I was as riveted as Tatyana when listening to Oleg speak. He's intoxicatingly magnetic. He drips with confidence, s3x appeal, power, and charm. I feel the age and wisdom of him but also his vitality and humor. This man is like a vampire James Bond meets John Wick because he's business savvy but can kick some serious a$$ too.
This is as much character driven as plot driven, and this is a rare treasure in excelling at both! Never once did I feel that anything was not needed. I was eating up every word, holding my breath, feeling my heart pound, working out twists... I was gripped.
Tatyana asks all the questions I would wanna ask. She's very likable, still spunky, has a sense of humor, super sharp. And I love that Oleg loves her boldness but softness equally. Though a penultimate decision she makes at the end kinda ruffles me, I'm nonetheless very interested to see how this adds even further drama to the story.
Action scenes are riveting and full of energy. The third act is a rip roaring confrontation that had me in its tight grip. I'm infatuated with Oleg and super piqued to see where this couple's future is headed!
Blood Mosaic:A Vampire Fantasy Novel (The Firebird and the Wolf Book 1) by Elizabeth Hunter. This was my first time reading this author, and from the synopsis of the book, I was truly looking forward to reading this story. I was not disappointed. Tatyana is a young bookkeeper who has returned home to care for her mother. When her boss leaves her high and dry, Tatyana sets out to get her 6 months back pay. What Tatyana ends up walking into changes her life forever. She has entered the world of vampires. When she went to the home office of her missing boss, she discovered not only was she set up by set boss but that boss was a vampire. And now the handsome and charismatic Oleg, who is the top boss, is also a vampire. Tatyana had initially gone to Oleg to get her back pay, but now she has signed up to help get back the money she unknowingly helped her boss embezzle. As Tatyana and Oleg spend time together, the attraction is definitely there. This was a great way to start off this series. The sexual tension between a human and a vampire. The vampire wants the human more than he wants to want her. The cat and mouse of getting the money back. The capture of embezzler. There is so much going on. There are some unexpected twists and turns that have me salivating for the next book. 4.5 stars for me. Oh, so much going on.
This is the book that I’ve been waiting on. These are the characters I’ve been needing to read. I was instantly enthralled with the story and didn’t come back for air until I reached the last page.
Tatyana and Oleg are the couple to beat even if she doesn’t know it yet. I have been anticipating reading this ever since we got a glimpse of them in elemental legacy series. They are just as good as I knew they would be. They push and pull… The extreme pull to each other was felt outside of the pages.
I loved how independent the FMC was how she did not want to be trapped, but wanted to make sure she followed her own path. She is smart, witty, and cunning when she needs to be I enjoy the fact that she challenges Oleg when most humans would cower.
Oleg is complicated. He has lived for a very long time and he is set in his ways. Getting to know him, and some of the feelings behind his actions was enlightening. He is arrogant, smart, loyal, and will protect what (and who) he considers his.
I won’t give a recount of what you will find in this book because you can read it in the synopsis. What I will say is my heart was racing, my eyes were glued to the pages, and I felt every emotion that was portrayed in this book . The writing was superb! I can’t wait to read more in this series.
So good to be back in this world! This one overlaps with A Stone Kissed Sea, and that is definitely one of my fave Elemental books.
Super slow burn, a lot of vampire politics, and a strong FMC who makes her own decisions in the end and doesn’t want to live in a gilded cage (iykyk). Oleg was irritating, hot, possessive, kind, and it was fun to finally learn more about him. That ending though! All I’m saying is, I cannot wait for the next book 🤣 😎🔥
Also, I think I’ll have to reread Dawn Caravan and A Stone Kissed Sea now, to remember some of the stuff that went down at this place in the timeline. I guess you could read this as a first entry to the Elemental world, it explains a lot of stuff, but there’s a whole backstory and overarching plot to a lot of the books that you’ll miss. And several characters will show up in this series that are important in the other Elemental books.
“Blood Mosaic” was a fast-paced with a solid plot and compelling characters. Can this spin-off series stand alone? Not really. Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental world has a lot of backstory and recurring characters. I faintly recall meeting Oleg and Tatyana in other books, and there’s a strong need to reread their parts, which I believe is in “Dawn Caravan” and “A Fall of Water” (and possibly other Elemental books). I thoroughly enjoyed the smart characterizations. They were layered. I enjoyed the humor, solid world-building (especially the consistent characterization of the Elemental vampires), and strong lead protagonists. This was a hard book to put down! (Although the sexy times filled a lot of pages in the second half of the book.) I think I like this book better than “A Hidden Fire.” Summer can’t arrive soon enough for “Crimson Oath.” Book 2 in this series.
If you like: •Enemies to Lovers •Slow burn •Blood Bonds •Elemental Vampires •Forced Proximity •Anti-Hero •Modern Vampires
Then you'll love Blood Mosaic by Elizabeth Hunter
What an absolutely enthralling start to The Firebird and the Wolf series! Blood Mosaic was an amazing read that I thoroughly enjoyed!
It follows Tatyana Vorona, a bookkeeper who agrees to help locate embezzled funds she unknowingly helped steal from her most recent employer. Soon, she comes to find out that she is working for a vampire, and the world as she knows it will never be the same.
This was such a dark yet fun book to read. The characters were charming, witty, and even humorous in atypical ways. This is not a funny book, but I chuckled and giggled multiple times because of banter or sarcasm. I loved the modern take on vampires. The elemental powers the vampires had, was a unique twist that I really enjoyed. Plus, I liked that the vampires in this story couldn't be succumbed to all the objects told in typical folklore.
The twists and turns of this story had me having a hard time putting this book down. It was thoroughly entertaining in a multitude of ways. I honestly did not expect the ending to be how it ended, but I'm very intrigued and can't wait until the next book in the series!
Oh, Elizabeth Hunter what a great kick-off to a new series. I loved Tatyana Vorona so much. This book was five stars because of her as a character. Tatyana is such a strong female. She is smart, independent, and practical in a way I appreciate. Her relationship with her mom was relatable. I just loved her.
Now lets talk about Oleg Sokolov. Who doesn't love a sexy fire vampire? A little grey around the edges and a whole lot of sexy. Loved the chemistry between Tatyana and Oleg, I can't wait to see were this series goes.
First, a big Дякую (<—that’s supposed to say thank you in Ukrainian) to Elizabeth Hunter and Valentine PR for supplying me with an ARC of this awesome book!
Full disclosure: I haven’t read any of Elizabeth’s other vampire series. I’ve read her IRIN CHRONICLES series (fabulous series, BTW - highly recommend) and FIRST LIGHT the first book of her brand new romantasy-portal-fairytale-esque series, SHADOWLANDS (also highly recommend). With that being said, I had absolutely no problem understanding the world her vampires live in, the powers they have, their social hierarchy, or their politics. So whether this is a spinoff or a totally new, separate world you shouldn’t have any trouble understanding vampire society either.
If you’re a fan of Discovery of Witches or Diana Gabaldon’s writing style (she wrote/is still writing the Outlander series) you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re interested in Eastern Europe and history, you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re a fan of vampires navigating the modern world, you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re a fan of messed up family dynamics, you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re a fan of slow-burn romance, you’ll enjoy this book.
Tatyana, our MFC is a smart, determined, strong-willed, yet lonely and socially isolated twenty something that gets caught up in what she thinks is a money laundering scheme but turns out to be so much more complicated and dangerous. After realizing she’s been used and not even compensated for unknowingly stealing from a very powerful entity, Tatyana decides to strike back at her former employer (Zara) in order to recoup her lost wages and make things right…
Which brings me to Oleg. The “man” Zara was skimming money from…the “man” that happened to be her “father.” The “man” that’s not actually a man at all. Nope. He’s a thousand plus year old vampire who took an immediate interest in Tatyana. At first he tries to convince himself it’s because she is there to get his money back and help him reign in his “daughter.” It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she looks like his ex…and in truth, it doesn’t. Oleg becomes incredibly protective of Tatyana, though, she doesn’t really see it that way…because she doesn’t know what he is, but she does know there’s something different about him…something powerful. So while Oleg is a very old, very powerful fire vampire, he is still very human. Their slow burn “situationship” is absolutely delicious to watch unfold, but complicated…especially when you have these two personalities clashing.
In terms of world building, I LOVE how Elizabeth melds the real world with fantasy elements throughout her different book series and this book was no exception. I’ve always been fascinated by Ukraine and Eastern Europe (but specifically Ukraine) so I love books/tv/movies that take place there or in that general region. Elizabeth’s writing style is so descriptive (without being too long winded) that I feel like I’m actually there with Tatyana and her mother on the rooftop of their apartment building in Sevastopol feeding their birds or marveling at Oleg’s mosaics at his fortress.
The book was fast paced and had so much going on that there was never a dull moment. As I said at the beginning, this is my first vampire series from Elizabeth and I absolutely loved her unique take on vampires. Their elemental magic is very similar in theory to witchcraft or fairy craft and I honestly can’t think of another book series where vampires are portrayed with these types of elemental magics. The vampire genre can get repetitive so it’s always refreshing to see a truly unique spin on them.
In terms of supporting characters, I thought there was a good balance where we got to know enough about them and their relationships with/to Oleg or Tatyana to care about them without them taking away from that main storyline. I have a feeling we’ll see a few important side characters in the next book and maybe actually meet a certain purple monster and even a father (that I 100% have suspicions and questions about).
The book ended in a way I honestly did not see coming. I thought that the one event would happen eventually but definitely not the very last thing. Like, Tatyana, girl, what are you doing? That was a BIG gamble. Do they not teach you guys Stranger Danger over there?
This was a very enthralling read and differed from the other vampire books I've read recently, which I loved. There was so much drama, action, betrayal, plotting, and scheming, and I was hooked.
Tatyana was really smart, determined, and strong-willed. Even knowing things could go either way, she still chose to gamble when it came to striking a deal with Oleg, and it paid off. She was always careful, and she delivered on her promises. Her attraction to Oleg was gradual, and while she was wary of him from the first moment, she became even more mindful once she found out about his true nature. But I liked that she didn't cower or back down even after she found out the truth. I also loved that she didn't wait around for others to save her, but she did everything she could to save herself.
I liked getting an understanding of Tatyana's relationship with the people in her life, although there were very few, but she knew she could count on them. Her relationship with her mother was complicated and not the best given her mother's struggles, but I still loved how her mother always came through and was the rock Tatyana needed while facing any uncertainties. They were a good team despite everything.
I was captivated by Oleg from that first page, and I only grew to like him more as the book progressed. He's a puzzle, and there's still so much left to learn about him, which I can't wait to get to. His interest in Tatyana was evident from the start, even when he tried to convince himself that it was only to get to Zara. But he was there for Tatyana every step of the way, always protecting her and unable to keep away from her even when he knew he should. I also enjoyed learning about his relationships with the different people in his life—his former mate, his daughter, his Druzhina, his employees, and obviously Tatyana. I also liked seeing his feral side come out, and watching him annihilate people to keep Tatyana safe was amazing.
The world-building was really interesting as the author blends a fantasy world along with our real world by creating some new cities and territories, which honestly made me understand and relate to this world better. The made-up parts were intriguing, and I loved discovering the new places and how they were detailed. The way book one ended, I'm waiting to see more of this world-building that will be continuing.
The book had so much going on, and it was riveting. I loved learning all about the vampires, the treaties, the rules, how their kind operates with each other and the humans. I liked the way the elements of nature were a part of the vampires, each one taking to a different element that defined their abilities.
The romance was a slow burn with everything else that was going on, and while they did get together, book one ends on a cliffhanger, and they still have a lot of navigating to do to figure out where they go from here. There are a lot of possibilities, so I'm waiting to see what happens next. The spice was good, though, and I enjoyed their chemistry and all the tension between them.
I loved Elene's character a lot and how she ran everything so effortlessly. She knew just what needed to be done, and there was no one—human or vampire—that could deter her.
I liked the side characters, and it took a while to get a hang of them, but they all added a lot to the plot, and I liked seeing their bonds with both Oleg and Tatyana. I'm hoping to see them in the next book and have more interactions with these two.
The book ended in such an interesting way, and I'm so eager to find out what will happen next. Again, the possibilities seem endless at this point, and I don't know what trajectory their journey will take. I get why Tatyana did what she did, and I respect and admire her strength for pulling off everything given all the chaos and heightened emotions.
Thank you to Elizabeth Hunter and Valentine PR for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
So, I have been hoping for an Oleg book FOREVER – he’s been such a fantastic secondary character throughout the entire Elemental series! And especially once we got a tease in Dawn Caravan that Oleg and Tatyana had ~*history,*~ I’ve been so, so keen on learning what happened.
All that being said, if you are brand new to Elizabeth Hunter’s work, the good news is you don’t need to have read anything in the Elemental world at all to jump right in with Blood Mosaic. It’s a brand-new standalone series, and a brand new story of intrigue, adventure, financial heists and revenge.
I love this book. I love Oleg in all his obnoxious, finger-snapping glory, and I love how suspicious and pragmatic Tatyana is (even when she’s internally panicking). If you’re a reader who has also been excited for their story for ages, trust me when I say: this does not disappoint. I really like how this book set up Oleg and Tatyana’s relationship arc. It’s a fun mix of good chemistry with a distinct power imbalance and gentle personality clash, that leaves me really looking forward to seeing Tatyana come into her own! (And for both of them to grow – Oleg needs to learn to leave a little of the warlord back in the 9th century where it belongs!)
The character cast is great (someone give Mika a hug, please). I really like the dynamic between Tatyana and her mother - it’s complex and frustrating in a way that is also really sympathetic, and sets up a nice foundation for the concept that love can be a trap in so many nuanced ways. Honestly can’t wait for the sequel! 10/10
(Also, oh my god, can we have a moment for the absolutely stunning cover art, I am obsessed.)
Oh my GAWD! Oleg and Tatyana's story had me breathless from the start. Elizabeth Hunter - you are a genius. I absolutely loved how unpredictable this book was, and the cliffhanger was ridiculously wild in the best possible way.
The first book in a series, this is the tale of 1100 year old vampire Oleg and 20-something bookkeeper Tatyana. When Tatyana shows up at Oleg's corporate office demanding the back pay that his daughter Zara owes her, she also offers to recover the tens of millions of dollars that Zara has been filtering out of the company. Intrigued from the start, and not revealing his true nature, Oleg is drawn to Tatyana like a moth to a flame. Fiercely independent and supporting her sick mother, Tatyana is not in the mood for a romance with her boss. Until circumstances change that is, and she finds herself pulled into his orbit. One fateful stroll sets the wheels in motion for a dramatic middle and end of the story, with such a well written storyline that I could not out the book down.
Absolutely loved this book and will impatiently wait for book 2 to be released in summer 2025.
Note: I was provided an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I do not rate books 5 stars unless I absolutely love them, and this book is 5 stars at minimum for me.
Incredible. Absolutely incredible! And now I need more 😆
For those who have read the previous books connected you will have been dying for Oleg’s book as well and let me tell you it does not disappoint! For new comers who love vampire books, this would be an excellent starting point!
Gah! Oleg! I didn’t realise how much I was going to love him and I had a pretty good idea! But he was beyond my expectations! He was soft and tender, but also bossy and grumpy. And him and Tatyanna just wow! I love the way they meet and the spark between them! I love his nickname for her. I love how completely obsessed he is with her! Tatyanna is so firey! She doesn’t back down to him. I loved her too. Gawd they were amazing and their chemistry! It was crackling off the page and then steaming it up!
The whole story line is everything I wanted! So much to know, sitting on the edge of my seat, the emotions felt, so much development and anticipation of what is yet to come! I am SO EXCITED for more!!
It has been a few years since I have read Elizabeth Hunter but I enjoy her books so I don't know why I don't read them more often. She kept posting about this book and I enjoy vampire romances. I ended up ordering a signed copy from her website. This is book one but book two comes out this summer so I won't have to wait too long. This one is about human Tatyana and vampire Oleg. Tatyana starts working for Oleg to get money back that was stolen from him from his vampire daughter, Zara. Obviously Zara is not going to be happy about this. Oleg starts falling for Tatyana but Tatyana is not sure that she wants to be involved with vampires. I loved the sexual tension and their banter.
A human girl just living her life, until she learns that her boss was a vampire who stole from another vampire. This book was very fast paced, very spicy(a bit much for me), and had an interesting plot. It took many twists and turns that I didn’t expect.
It was an alright read for a fast spicy vampire book!
I’m not a fan of a ton of spicy scenes, but this might appeal to those who are. I liked the FMC, she was very smart and very strong in herself.
Recommend for those wanting a spicy vampire book with a possessive MMC!
6⭐️ read!! Just WOW!! I've never been certain of anything in my life except the fact that Giovanni Vecchio would be my favorite vampire, my favorite book boyfriend ever. After reading this absolutely perfect book, I'm definitely questioning everything I thought I knew. Oleg is delightfully charming, a little bit spicy, and dangerous enough to set my heart racing. He is the perfect mix of gentleman and bad boy. Tatyana is a strong and feisty woman but just wants to be truly loved. She's brilliant, and while that is usually a good thing, it can cause issues when vampires are around. The banter was electric, and the story was absolutely beautiful. I, for one, cannot wait to see where these 2 go from here.
Disappointing read. I didn’t care for any of these characters and the story was not compelling to me. Note to self: you do not need to read the next book in this series.
There are not enough stars! What an epic start to the series. Blood, gore, conflict, romance, it has it all. Oleg was brought to us in previous books as more then a devious vampire with iron control. Tatyana gets under his skin. His daughter Zara does aswell for very different reasons. Start this journey with us to learn how they navigate this world! Miss Hunter, i adore your mind, deviousness and writing skill.
amazon review : Oleg and Tatyana. just WOW. we met Oleg a few times in previous series and he was a darker charachter. so i'm more then eager to read his side of everything. it's clear from the start there are many layers to Oleg and he will go to lengths to protect what he considers his. but when it comes to pnishment, it's a bit harder. Tatayna seeks him, or rather his company, to get paid her wages and to offer up how he can find his missing funds that were embazeled by his daughter. and thus the tango for Oleg and Tayana starts. it does end a bit with a cliffhanger but this part of the story feels finished. the next book is already being worked on so i'll patiently wait for it to appear.
Solid 4.5 starts, so I round up on goodreads. The MFC is fierce, and the MMC is so smooth. Vampires in the modern world with elemental magic. I crushed this one.
If you’re a fan of vampires, suspense, and jaw-dropping twists, then Blood Mosaic is definitely a must-read. Let me just start by saying I’m obsessed with this book, and yes, I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor from that cliffhanger! 🫠
What starts as a simple deal (when Tatyana is wronged by Oleg’s daughter) quickly spirals into a game of manipulation, power, and a spicy chemistry…Honestly, the way their relationship unfolds is pure 🔥—pun intended. I didn’t expect to be this invested in these two, but here we are. 🤷🏽♀️ Their bond is swoon-worthy, complex, and, thanks to their supernatural existence, feels deep in a way that only a vampire romance can.
The world-building is on another level. I got serious Avatar vibes with the elemental aspect of the vampires. It’s rare for a fantasy book to avoid that “information overload” moment, but this nails it. There’s history, there’s depth, and none of it ever feels like a chore to read through. Every detail feels purposeful and so well thought out. Plus, the supernatural elements are unique, which made it feel fresh and exciting.
Now Tatyana? I could root for all day long!! She’s tough, brilliant, and carries a lot of emotional weight that makes her journey both inspiring and relatable. Oleg’s internal struggles add layers to his character, and the mix of mystery and romance between them is electrifying. Their relationship is complicated, but it’s what keeps this book moving forward in the best way.
The twist/cliffhanger at the end ? WHEWWWW so sad the second book won’t be available until next summer 🥹 seriously can’t wait to read it!
I’m not sure if this is in the plans but I would have loved to see some graphics of the mosaics throughout the story. I think that would add a good visual aspect.
I can’t say it enough but I really LOVED this book!
After finishing Tin God I couldn't wait for Oleg to get his own story. Now if you follow my reviews Ms Hunter can do no wrong. I am biased and love the Elemental World Series. I just don't know what happened here. That is for me.
Tatyana Vorona bookkepper extraordinaire has stepped into the vampire world without realising it. She thought she was helping her boss Zara to stop the embezzeling but she is the one who embezzled. Zara didn't pay her and going to SMO she has moved herself even further into the vampire world.
I don't know how to feel about Tatyana tbh. I couldn't connect to her as a character and I don't know why. She is smart, strong and a force of nature. She has all the things to make her a great FMC. It jus didn't work for me.
Oleg Sokolov is a fire vampire as ancient he is vicious but with a soft and sweet side. His daughter Zara has stolen money from him. The Sokolov's are a big family and not all of them are clean or good.
Oleg also should have beena great MMC. I liked his style and his devotion to Tatyana but I liked him by himself not with Tatyana.
The story line reminded me of Gio and his wayward son only this time it is a daughter .
I felt no real connection between these two and it was boring at times it did pick up at the 60-70% mark but before that not a lot happened.
I will do a reread maybe I wasn't in the right mood for this genre. I am invested in the series.
I was peeved to read a statement at the beginning where the author explained when it took place, where and why. It's a book and IMO no justification is needed. Mic drop.
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
I recently received Blood Mosaic by Elizabeth Hunter as an ARC and honestly it’s going to be a top fave for this year. 🩸🔥❤️
Blood Mosaic is a spellbinding addition to the paranormal vampire romance genre that sees ancient fire-vampires cross with the classic contemporary billionaire romances we all know and love. Hunter created a page-turning experience from the first chapter, pulling readers into a haunting and beautiful world filled with betrayal, resilience, and gothic mystery. The main characters are complex and morally ambiguous but still feel authentic and relatable, which can be hard to do in a genre often populated by archetypes (not that I’m complaining about those archetypes though lol)
What sets Blood Mosaic apart is its inventive plot devices and unique pieces, that opening motif is so memorable! I love a heist plot so lacing it in with magical-laced lore is awesome! The romantic subplot simmering with tension and emotional depth, makes the relationships feel earned rather than rushed. The pacing strikes a perfect balance between high-stakes action and quieter, emotional moments, while side characters add layers to the story’s stakes.
Hunter’s vivid world-building brings shadowed cities, arcane rituals, and hidden vampire courts to life, creating an immersive setting brimming with secrets. While the lore may feel dense initially, its depth rewards patient readers with a rich and rewarding experience. Blood Mosaic is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance and vampire lore, delivering unforgettable characters, unique twists, and a story that I know will linger long after the final page, but the last page is not the end. The questions we are left with are still itching at me as I write this review and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This is a spicy paranormal romance that brings fresh life—or unlife—to the vampire genre. Set in modern times with Eastern European characters, the story follows Tatyana, a pragmatic accountant unexpectedly thrust into a dangerous supernatural world. Torn between her overbearing mother, poverty, and the revenge plot she and her new boss are putting into place. Oleg (pronounced like Alec) is her 1,137-year-old boss—a billionaire elder with secrets and schemes—and Tatyana must navigate a web of intrigue, elemental magic, and forbidden desire.
The vampires in Blood Mosaic stand out for their unique elemental magic, adding an intriguing layer to a well-trodden mythos. The slow-burn romance builds delicious tension. The dynamic between Tatyana, her mission, and Oleg is as compelling as it is dangerous, driving the narrative forward with a mix of steamy chemistry and high-stakes drama.
What truly hooked me, though, was the expertly woven tension and action. The stakes (pun intended) are high, and the pacing kept me flipping pages well into the night, devouring the story in a single sitting. However, fair warning: the book ends on a major cliffhanger, with the sequel planned for summer 2025.
I've been reading vampire fantasy/romantasy since before the Twilight era, so when I hear of a storyline that comes highly recommended, I go in full -force. Blood Mosaic by Elizabeth Hunter did not disappoint!
Tatyana Vorona is a human who recently found herself unemployed after not receiving payment for six months from her employer, Zara, who had questionable morals from the beginning. She finds herself making a deal with the CEO of Zara's parent company, Oleg Sokolov. Tatyana knows almost immediately that Oleg isn't normal, but the payout of the missing money plus a new deal as a consultant for him is too much of a financial windfall to walk away from. Tatyana enters a contract with an ancient fire vampire, Zara's father, and a dangerous man, all wrapped into the form of Oleg, to locate an enormous amount of funds that Zara embezzled during her exit from Oleg's power. With a mother who can't take care of herself, financial strain that seems insurmountable, and an intriguing but clearly dangerous new employer, Tatyana sets off on a life -altering path.
Elizabeth Hunter created a world in which vampires, dark and slow burn romance, political intrigue, and action and suspense reign supreme. This is a masterpiece!
Oleg is an ancient fire vampire that is very old and very wealthy. He found out his daughter Zara has been stealing from him and he’s determined to make her pay.
Tatiana is a human and has been a bookkeeper working for Zara. Zara has stopped paying her and she’s on a mission to get her back pay. She approaches Oleg not knowing what world she was stepping into. She offers him a deal saying she will track down his missing money if he pays her what she’s due.
Oleg decides to use Tatiana as bait to lure Zara out but the more time he spends with her the more he decides he wants her for more reasons.
There is some violence so check your trigger warnings. Great chemistry, loved Tatiana’s feisty side, and a suspenseful plot.
