Can I throw Miyo’s family in the nearest trash heap now? They’re AWFUL, even more so then in Volume 1! I just want to pitch each and every one of them off the nearest cliff, starting with Kaya who is literally THE WORST EVER, ugh!!!! The way she talks to and about Miyo makes my blood boil! Poor Miyo just wants happiness but she can’t have it with these harpies circling around like vicious horse flies in the heat of summer. *shakes dagger at her awful family*
Speaking of Miyo, I felt so bad for her and totally relate to her shutting down and locking everyone out, but to then see her rise and try again was so beautiful! She’s already growing and I’m proud of her for taking this seemingly small step forward! And Kudo is being so nice and sweet to her, oh my gosh, he’s smitten whether he’ll admit to it or not, lol! Watching these two slowly fall in love is so precious and sweet! And the way Yurie politely put Kaya in her place was gold; she’s such a sweet old lady and I love her. And the dinner scene with Miyo, Kudo, and Godo made me snort and laugh so much—I hope we see more of Godo in the future because he’s a hoot!
The verbal abuse is increased from Volume 1 and with the way this volume ended there’s clearly going to be more to come, so keep that in mind if you’re triggered by abusive situations.
Make sure you have Volume 3 on hand before you start this one because boy does it end on a horrible cliffhanger!

EN Took me a while to return to this series, but once I did, I tore through it.
The story is utterly captivating and immersive, brimming with intrigue.
Miyo is such a wonderful character. Now that she has finally found happiness, those who tormented her all her life will stop at nothing to tear it away from her.
A historical romance with fantasy gifts? This is it!
I really enjoyed this volume. Miyo and Kudo are so cute. I loved when Miyo decided to finally open her heart to her happiness.💙
But yes, like in every Cinderella story, there's an evil stepsister! Kaya is the sister who chose to do those bad things on her own and as a product of her mother's brainwashing.😩
Then, you can really see the difference between the childhood friend and Kudo. Well, both only think of what's best for Miyo. 🥰
The obsession that I have with this series is real, and I can't help myself! I read both the light novel and the manga because I love it so much. The art is too stunning to not pick up the manga too. I'm so excited to continue this journey in both formats!
I am loving this series. The only roblem is I now have to wait for volume 3 to come out. I love Miyo, she is such a pure person. I feel sad for everything she had to go through. I love how understanding and sweat is Lord Kudo to her. He is perfect person to protect her. The ending was such a cliffhanger, I can not wait to see how everything plays out!
4,5 Sterne Eine sehr gelungene Fortsetzung!
This volume was even more emotionally impactful than the first! I truly felt my emotions were everywhere! I went from feeling happiness, sadness to the point of crying, deep anger, and then a little bit of sympathy (though not much).
I knew from the start that Miyo's happiness would be short-lived. As desperately as I didn't want to make that prediction, this is a story that is at least four volumes long, so I concluded that Miyo can't be FULLY happy just yet. (Writers can't just give all the happy things to characters even though these characters deserve it. :p) But man, did it hurt to be right. *sobs*
I am DEEPLY thankful that Miyo had that moment of happiness because seeing her revert to who she was when she first met Kudo was truly heartbreaking. I had to grab my tissues because the waterworks were going to let loose in a way I wouldn't be able to stop for a while. *laugh cries*
Truly, one of the hardest parts of this series is seeing the impact abuse has on a person. While some of the effects of abuse towards Miyo have slightly faded in her memory and mannerisms, it took one encounter, one trigger, to cause all that pain to come fully forward. The way these moments and the emotions are shown makes this a very gripping story even if I am trying not to cry. Ha!
I would even go to say that as much as I love this story, it was at times slightly triggering because my heart desperately wants to see Miyo happy (and I am thankful that her happiness did not end after her trigger)! Kudo is a wonderful man and seeing him love her as well as Miyo bloom has been deeply moving and extremely beautiful.
However, that ending…
I still loathe Kaya as a character, but it's the first time I felt a tad bit of sympathy for her. None of her actions have been in the right or even good, but seeing a glimpse of her backstory made me view her with a little bit less distaste for when she's on page.
The art is beautiful as always and very much love seeing these two people fall in love! This is definitely not a light love story and has very strong moments of emotional turmoil and pain with wayyyyyy too many horrible family members, but there continues to be hope, love, and trust between these two that carry this story in a way where I can't stop reading.
I want to hug Miyo so badly, she is so good, so kind, and I want to punch her family so bad, they don't deserve her, nothing at all! I love how much Kudou and Yurie care so much about her, they will fight tooth and claw for her. Speaking of which...watching Kudou basically destroy everything in his power to protect her is the BEST.
Miyo and Lord Kudo confront some of the emotional issues that have had them holding back from each other. And when her enemies see that the relationship is going better than they expected, they decide it is time for some overt actions.
I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see the consequences of that bad choice in the next volume.
This series is cheesy and overwrought, but oh so fun.
This was so good?!?! Kudo and Miyo are so soft and precious, I just love them 🥺 the subtle magic system and family politics are also very interesting. Also the cliffhanger and twist at the end?? The drama and action? Just wow. I really want the next volume right now. Brb, going to need to get dressed to go to the library 😅 (I'm 100% serious)
