"The Nurse's Christmas Hero" is a historical romance novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
What a fun Christian romance with a thriller twist. I enjoyed this book and will be headed into the second in the Faith and Love on the Frontier series.
This was a bit of a slow starter, but really worth reading once into it. Lily is a nurse asked to go to Colorado to help a doctor with a flu epidemic. It takes place in the 1800s, so travel isn't easy. Lily goes to the small town with her niece, of whom she is guardian. Still grieving from the loss of her parents, sister, and brother in law, Lily and her niece are given room and board with Jacob and his sister Selah. Lily uncovers some very mysterious things going on with the doctor and enlists Jacob's help in unraveling the clues. Jacob, still grieving his wife's passing is reluctant at first, but then becomes willing S he recognizes Lily's dedication to her patients. Loved this book once into it!
Lily has lost everything and everyone, except her sister's young daughter Sophia, who is now under Lily's care. They travel to Colorado, where Lily will continue her career as a nurse. There is a flu epidemic in town, and she is hoping to help as many people as possible. Jacob and his sister Selah have a ranch, and Selah has offered to house Lily and Sophia until a permanent housing situation can be worked out. Jacob is a widower and very private, so he is not fond of the idea. This is such a good book, with excellent characters, and a story that just keeps on giving, it is very twisted and there are surprises along the way.
What an amazing story! If you have ever believed in Christmas miracles, this is the book for you. From the very first page until the very last, this book will capture your heart and your imagination. Filled with faith in spite of difficult circumstances, the story will have you cheering on your favorite characters while hoping the bad guy gets what's coming to him. I received an arc of this book but the review was completely voluntary.
The story is of hope for two people who never thought love would find them. Its about never giving up. How one nurse who was sent to assist a Dr who they figured out was a criminal. While the groom finds himself coming out of the darkness now into the light . The bride having given up on finding love. With her orphaned niece in tow. Moves to a small town to help those who are sick. What she finds is not what.
The story is fine, clean, faith element, good values etc. It needs another edit though. There are several instances where the wrong name or location is used. A few details don’t quite match up. It’s definitely light fiction. There’s so much of the story that could have been further developed to give it depth, but maybe the author preferred to keep it shorter and put most of the focus on the main story line. It’s a good start, but needs a bit more work.
This is a story of good versus evil. A doctor working to keep his patients sick, and a nurse who truly cares for the patients, and wants to expose the doctor. This is a well written story with mystery, and a bit of romance.
Sophie moved west with her niece following the death of her sister and brother in-laws to be a nurse. She found temporary housing with a widower and his sister. She solved the mystery of the doctor's patients and found love.
Love all of Lilah Rivers book whenever I see a new one I add it to my library. This book was certainly not a disappointment. Lots of suspense and lots of love. Her books are always very descriptive of people clothes and environment. Will continue to purchase her books
This book was such a joy to read! Loved every character with the exception of Dr. Marshall! He was just pure evil. So thankful Lily was able to figure out his scheme!
This is definitely an inspirational romance! The faith and character existing and showcasing in the nurse is inspirational!! This book leads one to believe in Christmas miracles!!
I really enjoyed reading this story and seeing how Lily was able to help Jacob overcome his grief and of how she helped save the town. This really is a very good story.
