This was a fun little holiday novella that delivered exactly what it promised - Christmas in Ireland, mafia-adjacent chaos, and a fake engagement with a side of surprise pregnancy. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining.
The story kicks off at an office Christmas party in America, where our heroine (a beautiful but unassuming IT girl) accidentally witnesses a murder on the rooftop. Emmet (our Irish Mafia hero with a legitimate business front) is there and saves her life by pretending they’re kissing and claiming she’s his fiancée. To keep her safe, he whisks her off to Ireland to spend Christmas with his family.
Emmet is a bit of a broody, push-pull type. Charming one moment, cold the next. They grow closer over the holidays, culminating in a horseback ride and a steamy encounter that doesn’t end particularly well. But as it turns out, she’s originally from Ireland and fits right in with his family. So she's determined to stay, even when their fake engagement ends.
This is a quick, festive read with a fun setup and a satisfying ending. It didn’t blow me away, but it kept me entertained and scratched the holiday mafia itch.

Here's an actual honest review:
I wish authors would stop taking "dark romance" and using it as an excuse to make the MMC a piece of garbage with no redeeming qualities and an excuse to treat the FMC like garbage with zero reprecussions or groveling.
I was honestly excited in the beginning because I thought it was refreshing to see the FMC giving the MMC some shit and finally not fighting him every single step of the way, instead causing mischief by playing along. That quickly went out the window.
None of this story made any real sense and the author didn't take the time to even try to explain any of it.
Mary grew up in foster care in Ireland then immediately escaped to America when was 18. She made this big to-do about blending in and hiding in New York, but there was never any real explanation of why? No one was looking for her. She had no family. No friends. She wasn't in any kind of danger. Yet she wanted to hide. Why?
Him fake proposing and hiding her didn't even make sense. Yes, she witnesses a murder but WHO IS HE PROTECTING HER FROM? It was literally HIS MEN that did the crime.
Emmet was garbage. Trash. He takes her virginity by a stream by screwing her up against a tree and it meant.... nothing to him. In fact, he couldn't wait to tell her when they got back to the house that it changed nothing and they were going to part ways when they got back to New York. Seriously? Not even in this mans inner thoughts did the fact that he was her first cross his mind but once, and it was a passing thought.
There was barely any build up to him having any kind of emotions for this woman until one day he sees his cousins high school bully hitting on her in the pub and he has to take her home where he screws her brains out for 12 hours, then STILL wants to end it when a sudden business deal that he's apparently been "waiting on for months" (that we JUST learned about) pops up before they were supposed to leave and he takes off to New York without barely a conversation with her.
But that's fine because it's suddenly her dream to stay in Ireland and run a random boutique hotel with his cousin... who by the way, it was teased all through the book that there was something going on between her and the high school bully but suddenly there's.... not?
He goes back to New York, she stays in Ireland for an undetermined amount of time before he pops up with declarations of love? We don't even get a POV from him in New York discovering what a mistake he's made? Nope, no we do not.
This book was billed to me as a "surprise pregnancy", so if you're looking for that trope, it literally comes in the last chapter and is barely mentioned in the epilogue.
Lastly, the author needs to work on her spicy skills. Emmet is a horrible lover. Who walks around sticking their tongue in their lovers ear? Gross. Not to mention, the few spice scenes we see, he barely focuses on her pleasure (she didn't even get off when he took her virginity. I read it twice because I couldn't believe it.). What really put me off was him knowing full well she was a virgin, meaning she probably had little to no experience in any of it, he forces her to her knees and rubs his thing all over her face before making her suck him off.
I hate leaving such a harsh review but honestly, I'm not convinced this book wasn't written by AI. I wish I had the couple hours I wasted on this book back.

Hang on don’t blink and you might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified possessive, oh so gorgeous, brooding all three makings of a story consisting with the three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, darkness, secrets revealed, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love somewhere along the way! Mary is a person who bother’s no on, minds her own business while taking a moment to relax on the rooftop of her work building while attending a Christmas party she saw witness something she supposed to see which puts her in danger, although she doesn’t realize just how much danger, she is just a IT girl where or who can she turn to, and her boss becomes the man to offer protection by way of a fake marriage engagement heading to his home for Christmas away from it all. Emmett sexy as all get out boss but also part of the O'Hara clan a family you don’t mess with everyone knows this well if you don’t you will find out rather quickly, he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly everyday now he has to take the IT girl home to his family and he will have a lot of explaining to do as to why he brought home a finance suddenly without warning …one who is more afraid of her own shadow especially after what she witness. The magnetic pull is there from the moment he demanded she pretend to be his fiancé come with him for the holidays but the more he denied it the stronger the pull and to top it off his family immediately loved her but will he accept it, will he walk away, will his heart allow it, and will they accept what’s growing between them will they find happiness somewhere along the way?.

Even though the agreement between Mary and Emmett was meant to be on a platonic basis, the sparks between them led to them engaging in mind blowing dalliances. Unfortunately, Emmett’s past made it difficult for him to be in a relationship, but his family fell in love with Mary and she became one of them. Emmett realised his true feelings after leaving, so he returned and convinced Mary to give them a chance at a future, which coincided with her life changing discovery.
This captivating story will take you through those unpredictable emotional moments that catch you off guard, but by the time you reach the end, you will be rewarded with a heartwarming moment. OMG 😱 this was the best mafia story ever and it was an age turner and the suspense was insane and intense so hold on the moment it going to be a juicy twist and I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Emmett and Mary chemistry was sexual tension was boiling over. It was dangerous, delicious and deadly with a spicy of flavor and romance. On Christmas Day she was minding her own business as she overheard a conversation among the mafia family that she worked for. They couldn’t believe it was going to happen as they couldn’t fight the temptation anymore in this moment. One night with him will change everything in her life forever. It mind blowing 🤯 and chaos with danger amongst them.

A Dark Mafia Christmas is a fabulous mafia holiday romance. When I first read the blurb for this book I became quite intrigued by the idea of the book. After reading A Dark Mafia Christmas, I came to realize that I absolutely LOVED this mafia romance book. I couldn’t get enough of Emmett and Mary’s remarkable story. I absolutely adore the fact that these two characters have a happily ever after with them being happy and together and bringing children into the world. I would absolutely encourage other readers to checkout this remarkable holiday mafia romance. Author Vivy Skys continues to write remarkable romance stories that are an absolute enjoyment to read. I’m looking forward to reading more amazing books from this author.

The characters in this book were so full of wonderful surprises. The varied settings for the plot were lively and described in a way that drew the reader more fully into the experience. Emmitt and Mary didn't share much regarding the type of familial environment they grew up in, yet they were both shaped into strong people ready to take on whatever was necessary when it presented itself.
While they certainly didn't have a strong start, the magic of Ireland wrapped around them, along with the love of family. Would the pressures of business, both in the states and abroad, prove to much for them in the end?

Emmett is a billionaire playboy who is having a Christmas party. A murder happens and he’s not even move by it. Mary is a redhead who works for him and witnesses A murder. He decide to take Mary to Ireland, his hometown for Christmas.. His family falls in love with her. They think he her fiancé because she has a ring on her finger. His granny doesn’t know why he did use the family ring. Gianna his sister figures out did not really engage.. She ask Mary to stay and help with a project she doing. Emmett goes back to New York, he doesn’t know why Mary not going with him. Later in the story he comes back for her since he can’t live without her and tells her if he marries he’ll be a mafia man so check out the book and see what she does

The only thing is they were spotted by the killer, Emmett found an engagement ring at the party and proposed to Mary to show that's what they were doing in the roof.
She wakes up on a private plain bedding for Ireland, she'd been drugged to keep quiet.
As Mary had been brought up in Foster care his family was so welcoming and now they had to keep up the pretence of an engaged couple.
To top off it she knows nothing about his involvement in the Mafia
I was so involved in by this story I couldn't stop reading it until the end, loved it.

😍If Hallmark and Mafia did a Movie…🔥
Vivy Skys has written a wonderful Christmas novella with undertones of mildly dark Mafia. Let’s just say that if a Hallmark movie and a Mafia movie had a baby, it would be based on this novella.
It was heartfelt, romantic, and held my interest from the beginning. Emmett and Mary have an unusual fake engagement which takes them from New York to Ireland. It has all the romantic love and steam that keeps the reader engaged.

Christmas mafia story but very light on the mafia. It happens during the week between Christmas and New Year so I guess it’s a Christmas story too. Mary sees something during the office Christmas party that puts her life in danger. Emmett saves her and kidnaps her to Ireland where he’s spending the holidays with his family. His father is head of the Irish mafia. Mary and Emmett are practically strangers but faking an engagement, they spend the holidays getting to know each other and falling in love. It’s a cute story with interesting characters. Dual POV. The ending was a bit rushed and it ended abruptly. Feel good story despite the mafia theme.

A different style of Mafia story. Mary works in the IT department of Emmett's business in NY. At the office party she is on the roof getting some fresh air when she sees someone getting thrown off the roof. Emmett proposes to heer so she isn't hurt for being in the wrong place. She thinks she is being taken home but wakes up on a plane preparing to land in Ireland. Their reluctant love blooms and Mary finds her forever. This is a must-read.

When Mary goes out on top of the building to get away from the crowd, she witnesses something that puts her life in danger. Emmett makes an entrance and kisses her telling Mary to follow along if she wants to live. That kiss has Emmett faking a proposal of marriage that leads them along a path that neither saw coming. Will Emmett get the wife he never thought he wanted and a chance for happiness. This story is filled with some thrilling twists and turns that had me all caught up in Emmett and Mary.

Emmett is Mary's boss, although he's never noticed her before the annual Christmas party. Unfortunately, for Mary, she witnesses a murder and has to be kept quiet. What this really means is being whisked away to Ireland on the pretext of being Emmett's fiancé. How long will these two be able to fool anyone in Emmett's family, including themselves?
Secrets on both sides reveal more about these two as the story moves on and we learn why Emmett isn't as bothered by the murder as Mary is.

Cute quick Christmas read
This was such a great little quick read to get ready for the holidays. It starts out with a Grinchy man who loathes the holidays and a quirky Cindy Lou Who girl who can’t wait to get home to watch the newest Hallmark Christmas movie. When she sees something she wasn’t supposed to of course that Grinchy man steps in to save the day. Next thing you know he’s got her in Ireland and falling in love with his family. Then him. You won’t regret this Christmas quickie 😉.

Mary was at the Christmas party at work,at one time she went into the roof part to stay alone,while she was alone she saw a man throwing another man from the rooftop she was shocked a pair of hands came to her mouth to stop her from shouting.
The man starting kissing her and went on one knees to propose to her, the man was her boss.
Why her boss went out of his mind or to protect her ?
An amazing story that you can’t take the book of your hand until you finished it.

She just wanted to blend in and start a new life in the states. He wanted to just make it thru the party and head home. What she saw and him stepping in changed their life's forever. He thought he was doing the right thing bringing her home with him. They both felt feelings and neither wanted to talk about it. Then lines were crossed that can never be uncrossed. If only they would communicate better things would have been so much easier for them. I would love to see what happens next for them.

This is Book 7 in the Ruthless Mafia Kings Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is a dark romance between Mary and her boss, Emmet. These flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an intriguing read. What starts out a s a fake engagement turns into something more. It is a wild ride with drama and steam, danger and suspense, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters. A mafia holiday romance.

At the company's Christmas party, Mary was a wall flower and wanted to get away from the crowd. She saw something that could get her killed. To protect her, Emmett did someone he was not comfortable doing, but did any way.
This was not a dark book. This was about a loving Irish family with a mafia twist.

During a Christmas party, Mary is on the roof when she sees a man get thrown over the building. Emmett is her boss and a mafia king pin. He comes to the rescue by pretending to propose to her. To partially keep her alive he kidnaps her and takes her to Ireland to spend the holidays with his family. His family in turn loves her. They do some pretty kinky things. He goes back to New York and she stays in Ireland to partner up with his cousin to open a hotel. He realizes he loves her and they get their HEA.

This was such a good book!
Mary is an innocent woman who happens to witness a murder. Emmett is her boss as well as an Irish Mafia Don. To protect her, he fakes an engagement. Then takes (kidnaps) her to Ireland for Christmas with his family.
Things get steamy, and feelings are caught. Fake it til it's real.
Loved the characters, the storyline was fun, exciting, and spicy... Mary's found family was very heartwarming. Fantastic read.

Rooftop Engagement
Mary finds herself engaged and kissing her boss Emmett to avoid being killed. Witnessing something unscrupulous not only puts her in danger, but his connection and past cause an issue as well. This story was intense, suspenseful, and entertaining. I really enjoyed these characters and the overall plot. It was an intriguing read.

The things we invent to keep another person safe. Kidnapping a person and taking them to a foreign land only to have your family fall in love with her as well as yourself. Until the lightbulb comes on and you must confess your true feeling and learns she feels the same way. She desire to remain in the home land, finds a job she enjoys. Pregnancy with twins, marriage and life couldn’t be better. Hat off to the author

It Could been a 5..
3.5 - I hesitated on my star count for this one because I was so disappointed. First 75% was a 5. Last25% was a 3..
I absolutely loved it, but then it was like the author just decided to end it and rushed through everything with little to no explanation on anything and very little detail on what was there. 200 pages should've been doubled. I went from feeling like I'd found a bread read to feeling like I've wasted my time..

Holy cow. This is a great book. Loved it from the first page to the last. Mary started a new life in New York and tried to stay invisible. She works for Emmett, but no one notices her until the annual Christmas Party. She sees something she shouldn't, and Emmett takes her away for her safety.
