Ken and company embark on their first raid. Despite Ken’s powerful [Liminal Speed] not all the boss fights are accommodating and the Haylon raid party must learn to work together in perfect concert. Prince Albar is unsatisfied with his defeat and plots to take down Ken and Elysara despite their Royal Censor guards. Yet, neither of them are prepared for the shakeup in the dungeon. All of the safety nets they’ve been training over are about to disappear.
Born and raised in the agricultural midwest, I moved every year after school even as far as Shanghai before settling down with my wife in Chicago.
I have always enjoyed Wuxia stories and became thrilled when I discovered harem stories spreading to western books. I've written down my day dreams for years as an idle hobby. Inspired by the harem genre I'm finally fleshing them out into full blown novels.
I'm excited to share my stories with you as I turn them into novels and series.
The series is starting to drag and lose complete sense with reality.
The bad guy in this is a spoiled rich kid that should have been killed last book but they needed some antagonist as they killed off previous ones.
For some reason there is a whole B plot about a court case on gambling but not one on the villain who has very obviously ordered multiple assassinations on a person.
Also for the MC to be the next big thing he is so weak. Like every description of his fights are “chipping away at the monster” or “barely scratched it”. Then all of a sudden he’s able to put out just enough to win but never by a lot.
((Audio book review)) UPDATE: Apparently the VA's were changed because moronic fans didn't like them for some reason? And they changed because of a FACEBOOK POLL? They destroyed a whole series because of a crappy facebook poll? One of my favorite books is just going to be wrong from now on.
Look how they slaughtered it. God it's awful. Originally it was narrated by Lewis Alexander and Rozelyn Rader but for what ever reason they switched to Christopher Boucher and Jessica Threet. The sad part is this isn't just about a change in voice but the book went from a joy to listen to down to something that some times I had to almost force myself to pick back up. If you don't do audio books you wouldn't know but the narrators are everything and they can even take a mediocre book and turn it into something very enjoyable. This was just bad... and I don't know why it happened but I REALLY hope they get the original narrators back and redo 203 and then continue with them.
Why I'm upset about it.
While I have listened to plenty of books narrated by Christopher Boucher and Jessica Threet there was one huge problem with this book specifically that some how I hadn't noticed before. Jessica doesn't have enough voice diversity to carry this book. With the previous narrators I always knew who was talking and when which is saying something in a harem book meaning TONS of female characters. After the switch I was confused half of the time because most of the girls sounded very similar so if there wasn't a "so-and-so said" after a statement you had better hope the conext would let you know who was talking.
They didn't reference the previous recordings at all. It's jarring as fuck to have been following this series along and then not only do the characters sound wrong but the way the lines are delivered and the inflection that the narrators use in their voices completely changed their personalities.
It feel like being at a meal and sipping on your favorite soda and when you ask for a refill they hand you a diet version and try to act like nothing changed... "no sir it's always tasted like that" (or the other way around if you prefer diet)
Okay rant over and I doubt it will make a difference but if there is a wish genie out there please bring back Lewis Alexander and Rozelyn Rader for this series.
Loved the booked the book. Didn't put it down until I reached the end. But it definitely needed more close contact and sexual intamacy! I love the plot, adventure and action that Mr Center has in his books. I also read them for the many sexual exploits. I mean, I'm older now and have to read about because there's not much happening in my neck of the woods. Also I know a lot of deployed military members who don't have their girlfriends, wives or anybody with them need to have the steamy stuff to put a smile on there face and get some enjoyment while they're away. PLEASE PUT MORE!!!
This one no new women were introduced into the harem, though there is a possibility, that maybe in the next book there most likely will be. So the four colleges have made it to the raid and have begun competing. The bet is still on between Ken and Prince Albar over Crimson. The first to kill the last major boss wins. If Ken wins he gets 20 billion Ren, enough to set in a trust and fund the Silver Fangs guild. However Crimson gets called away to do some investigating of some seismic activity in the Dungeon. Two of Elysara censor leave to try and catch a newly hired assassination squad hired to kill Ken and Elysara. While both of them are gone in what they will later call the "Great Cataclysm" occurs. The dungeon suddenly shifts and rearranges itself. The group finds itself cut off with safe floor on the 30th floor filled with Dwarves and the safe floor on the 35th floor filled with Naga. Also they were on the 32nd floor but the floor has actually moved deeper in the Dungeon with the monsters slowly getting stronger to match the level that they are now at. The colleges decide to hide themselves in the raid event and focus on getting stronger and leveling up. Ken is really on his own, with only those of the Harem to protect each other. I really enjoyed this one. The author has made for several changes to be possible in future books.
Not gonna lie, I was anti-litRPG since I first heard of it, and I've never been a big fan of the sort of wish fulfillment harems in media. But in spite of that, Sentar is such an entertaining writer that I absolutely love this series. The banter is great, the story is good, the characters don't feel too one-dimensional even if they aren't always particularly deep, there's some real sweet familial-type love on top of the romance and snu snu. The tone of the series does change over the first three books; you can tell the author is still finding the style he wants.
There's some hiccups in this latest book that really stand out when you plow though all the books back to back. A few unintentional (or intentional?) retcons and plot holes come up, but nothing bad enough to make me bin the series. My main complaint is that the amount of progress Ken and co make in this book seems really rushed compared to the other books. Hopefully the author pulls it back a touch and the books continue to keep selling enough that he keeps writing them.
I really enjoyed this one, and I was getting ready to say that this series had lost its way. 202 was easily the weakest book in the series with very little interesting happening and no big pay off at the end. The start of this book was shaping up the same way, but then the big event happened mid-book. The setting opened up some more, and we're told at the end that big changes from the series' formula are coming in the next book. And suddenly I'm excited about the series again. Bruce continues to show restraint with the core cast size in this series which I very much appreciate. The setting became interesting again, the characters remain multi-dimensional and engaging, and the plot has me hooked for the next book. Good read.
Note: Note: - 1 star = I disliked it - 2 star = It was okay - 3 star = I liked it - 4 star = I really liked it - 5 star = It was a favorite
Ugh. This series is still the most boring I read of the author, and he has no intention of ending it anytime soon.
It's only because I enjoy the author's other works that I continue with this.
Another boring book of diving a dungeon finished. I've read over ten series that dealt with dungeons and diving them, and at this point I am fed up. If I read this series years ago, it might have been fun. But having gone through tens of books where the focus is on dungeon diving, I lost interest.
What makes it worse is that the author combined a boring school trope with boring dungeon diving.
Guess I will pick up the sequel. Maybe Ken will stop being the most boring protagonist I read from the author (ability wise).
Maybe if I read for the smut, I would have been enjoying him adding to his harem, but sadly, that doesn't interest me.
A great addition to the series. I swear each book gets better and better. Great action. Great plot. Great use of powers. Much more fight scenes in this one than the last great environments. Good backdrops good character development already. Looking forward to reading the next book. I'm writing this review. I'm only mainly to help the author with the algorithm. It's a good series you'd like it. The first book's a little slow but after that you're off to the races. Hope this helps. I'm writing this review with voice to text so I apologize. Certainly spell and errors or inconsistencies
This books description of "..All safety nets gone.." was both very apt and not enough to describe the change that happened. Good book, though, for real. Not a small amount upset about one of the permanent characters leaving ngl considering one of the two reasons she's leaving doesn't really make sense imo. Being by a friend makes perfect sense to me in that relation, but 'growing stronger' makes very little sense to me. Since she's been by Ken, he's leveled up far faster and done more than 90% of the population that is written about; both humans and elves. That part makes no sense to me.
Raids, plot twist, gear, new races. It’s more litrpg and less relationship but it’s the best ratio. Couldn’t put the book down and maybe my favorite. These types of books get better the deep they go and higher level they get. My one complaint is at the end with his “power up” was not a satisfying fight. Felt more plot armor-ie and had to happen than he should had won legitimately. But it’s ok, he kept it short and more right past it with a bigger bomb shell!
So this series caught me totally by surprise. It was easy to become involved with the characters, which indicates considerable skill by the author. The sex scenes were hot and steamy but the overall adventure really hooked me into reading the entire series in a matter of days. Again likeable characters though I suspect they might raise eyebrows with the distaff half of the human race. For me however I was able to channel my inner adolescent male self and found it quite enjoyable.
That one professor betrayed the other one, quite literally stabbing her repeatedly and leaving her for dead while he continues on with his plan to assassinate the Elven Princess. And then, when this all comes out and his crimes are exposed, what happens? Oh nothing, they just leave him alive and free, free to plan and try again to do something dastardly. Big surprise, he does. I get you're trapped in a dungeon but you don't leave a known enemy free like that. The Prince is one thing, but not that Professor.
Honestly, the first half of the book was not the best. It wasn't bad, just not as page turning as I would have liked. However, the second half of the book took up that slack and then some! I'm really excited to see what comes next but also sad because I know Bruce is taking a month off, and then we have two other amazing series that probably have their next books coming out before we get 204. It will be wait but I will survive!
This series desperately needs a character page as I am struggling to remember and differentiate the non-harem classmates. Well, author decided to shake-up and change the trajectory of the story (a wise decision as it was starting to stagnate). We close out a bunch of loose threads this time (perhaps awkwardly), and open paths to some newness. Although we still don't have a definite goal, I am optimistic about future volumes.
I’ve enjoyed reading this series so far. For the most part. I understand that scenes like the deposition are needed to set up something else in future books they are a little boring. I don’t understand why with all his powers he can still only scratch the surface of most armour. Or even the beard of a dwarf. Or the fact that the kill point is just behind the beard. He’s supposed to be an assassin. But it’s still a decent read and I’m looking forward to the next book
First, let me say I love this series. It is absolutely amazing so far…
Prior to getting into spoilers, I think that this book could have been separated into two of them and the first half could’ve been expanded on and given a lot more detail and many more conversations. It probably would’ve felt more slice of life rather than action or adventure but we’re getting to book 7 of the series we should all feel fairly invested in the characters and not see , a book with less adventure as a filler book because we get to spend time with the characters that we enjoy/love. The second half of the book felt like you were going 90 miles an hour absolutely rushed sprinting towards an unknown future because is there going to be a 301 to 304 and then a 40128404 like four years of college. Who knows?
Spoilers U Ken is losing his humanity becoming more demonic and although I may be new to this author and this genre, I don’t like it. I understand Ken getting skills I understand becoming stronger thus being less human as a side effect of becoming stronger more like human+ rather than something completely different. And now Ken is a demon king race probably and not human so what does that mean for his harem? Does that mean he won’t be adding more humans? He’ll be bird people or angels. At first I thought maybe his demon king form was similar to, the metamorphosis but it seems like that’s just how he looks and I know we don’t get an explanation in this book yet but I don’t like it. It seems fairly shitty. It’s been so that he is a member of his family and his clan and now he’s not even human so what does that mean for his grandparents? What does that mean parents that are dead and his future and more kids the next generation of his clan is he even gonna be able to do that now that he’s a demon.
He also needs to add Penny and others of his raid party to the harem. I just don’t understand the reluctance there does not necessarily mean you have to sleep with them for them to know that we’ve seen that with all the others but their harmonized prior to sexual relations, and that seems to be the capstone to it Should acknowledge that he is working towards harmonization with his whole entire Raid party the 25 people of class a. Like I said, I love the series. This book felt extremely rushed and the main character loses his humanity and that’s just not my bag. I’ll read 304 because I’m already so deep into the series, but it will be up to the next book to keep me reading this author’s work at all
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love this serie but if grinding xp is the least interesting part of a video game then it is defenitely not interesting in a LitRPG as well, the most interesting stuff happened on the last tier of the story, I am satisfied that we're finally done with the initial setting of this serie and things will finally be able to evolve
Ken and company work at the raid and winning the bet against the prince. But the Dungeon itself is not sitting still. There are massive developments about it and what happened to the Nekorians. There is a huge shift in the world and much more exploration for the future of Ken's party. And maybe some party shake-up.
This book proved to be another great entry in this series. I am still concerned about the massive power creep to an already OP MC, but the author has kept it entertaining.
The bits where they discussed raid tactic and failed as they learned how to beat certain bosses was a bit boring, because it just is in real MMOs.
I am so excited to see what happens next! I really enjoy this series and look forward to each release. I find each character so unique and spunky. Each had their own separate from the mc lives that didn't entirely revolve around the mc. It made it more realistic and fun as well as easier to "dive" into.
Please keep it up I cannot get enough and I cannot wait for Penny to join the group!! But please do more stuff with Charlotte she seems to be getting lost in the shuffle. But this whole dungeon doing a 180 is really great and love it, really great idea to mix things up.
This story continues, and Ken progresses. In this one, the group tries to finish the raid started in the last book. However, something massive changes in the dungeon. Leaving all the schools stuck with both safe rooms above and below filled with Dwarves on one side and Naga on the other. The groups have to find a way to survive and level.
This was another amazing story, and I am not going to lie. After seeing Penny's artwork. She is my favorite. I mean she had me at the blue hair, and frost knight, but she beats Des hands down. Looking forward to reading more about her. The shake-up was definitely an interesting twist.
Alternate universe, LitRPG, portals, dungeon diving, save the world, harem adult situations
Ken and company get tested amidst many changes. And Snu Snu returns. Excellent editing, but a few continuity lapses. Albers has a lot of food in his CID, but Ken promptly does nothing with it, not even giving the food to Fayeth. Still enjoyable. Onward!
Crap, the story ends just when its getting good. Sentar has several series going, and this is my favorite. This has all the good stuff: sex, harems, dungeon diving, studly heroes, all the good stuff.
Another great effort by the author. This seems almost like a conclusion to the story but it opened so many new doors that it would be a shame to end it. Hope he plans on another one.
Hell of a good mixup, loved the idea of everyone getting used to and comfortable with things, then boom it all changes. It going to be a hell of a good time in the next book.
Can’t wait to find out Ken’s level and what all happened to him. There are going to be many different ways the story can go from here. This is going to get even more interesting than it has been.
This book did not keep my interest. Several times I put the book down and had to make myself pick it back up later. Separate the team to get stronger, seems to be the motto/theme. If another book comes out, I am not sure if I will buy it
