When love takes hold, even the most cautious of hearts can learn to fly free.

Stef

What’s a fabulous genderfluid beauty to do when stress is high and Prince Charmings aren’t lined up at their door? Drastic times call for drastic measures, so I head to the club to recharge my sparkle on the dance floor. I have no intention of hooking up with anyone. Hookups are not my thing. I may be sassy, but I keep it classy.

Usually.

But then I see the slightly older hottie in the Tom Ford suit, and all my self-restraint goes up in a blast of glitter.

When it turns out he’s my new meditation client and my friend's older brother, I know the universe is messing with me. Because Blake and I have incredible chemistry, and he’s made his interest abundantly clear. But mixing business with pleasure is a huge no. So why does my heart keep shouting yes?

Free Me is a low-angst, opposites attract, worlds collide, LGBTQ romance about a genderfluid cutie, a slightly older hottie, and a hookup gone right. It contains no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA.

I’m on BookTube now! =)

It’s been ages I last read a book with a gender-fluid MC and I’m so happy I found this one!
The gender-fluid rep was amazing! I loved Stef so much! Also the way they tried to make the world a little bit more accepting by being visible. <333
Blake was such a sweetheart, too! Get yourself a man like him!

Full RTC soon! I absolutely loved this!

Am I supposed to read other books because I need to return them to the library soon?
Yep.
Did I still start reading “Free Me” because I heard it has a gender-fluid MC?
You bet I did!
It’s so rare to find gender-fluid characters in books, let alone to find gender-fluid MCs!
So I just had to pick this up and read it. Knowing me, I’ll rush through this in no time. XD
Guess the mood reader in me won, but I’m not mad about it! *lol*

A pleasant and very sweet surprise

The Stef in this book is adorable and a real sweetheart, he's determined
and he's brave enough to live his authentic life.

In previous books he's come across as annoying and a but self-absorbed, but you can see in this one why that's been the case.

Blake is perfect for him, he's a bit older, successful in his business and confident in his feelings for Stef. What he's not had before is an adequate work/life balance and I loved how Stef gave him the impetus to change that.

Together they're ridiculously sweet and supportive and I loved that there was no stupid Third Act crisis or break up and that the communicated so well.

It's actually probably my favourite one yet.

Stef is a wonderful person, they're larger than life, they're bright and everyone gravitates around them (not in a egotistical way, but because they help others to shine as well), they're also funny (I'm not crying. I just have emotions in my eyes), but they're sadly used to hide when they're hurt because too many people stomped onto their heart. Stef is Jules' older brother and Erik's best friends (both MCs in Choose Me).
Blake is a man totally dedicated to his work, but he's got morals that he isn't keen to compromise, he loves his family to pieces and he's got a tight bond with his younger brother Tadhg (MC in Embrace Me)
Stef and Blake meet at a club and have an immediate insane sexual chemistry: when they meet again under totally different circumstances, the attraction is still there.
Their relationship moves on pretty quickly, even if there are still reservations from Stef, because of their past horrible experiences, but they both are always honest with each other, especially Blake who does everything to make Stef feel appreciated, loved and, above all, safe to be who they really are. I think the author did a fantastic job representing Stef's sexuality: this book helped me a lot to know more about gender fluidity. In this regard, Stef talking with Ben was really emotional and enlightening.
While this is a very low angst story, sadly there are still people not accepting Stef, trying to degrade them. I loved how Blake was protective of them and especially how Stef was able to protect themselves.
The HEA is sweet, amazing and it's everything we want for this wonderful couple.
What prevented me to give full 5 stars:
I would have known more of Blake's past experiences, he hints about them a couple of time, but it's not clear why he didn't want to date anymore.

The whole series is worth reading and I cannot wait for the next book, Heal Me, Jocelyn's story.

Highly recommended.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review

The good
    + The great communication
+ How honest they both were with each other
    + Going on dates
+ Stef humoring Blake's excessive need to be on the same page all the time
    + Benji
+ Stef dropping everything to help Jules
+ Blake taking care of a sick Stef
+ Blake reading Stef to sleep
+ Stef sassing Gilbert even while scared of damaging Blake's reputation or professional success
+ Blake making sure Stef knows he accepts them exactly as they are, no matter how they are at any given moment
+ No hiding from friends, family, colleagues, strangers or anyone

The neutral
o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased
o It took me way too long to figure out that this Stef, this adorable Stef that I really liked, was the Stef I was so mad about in Jules' book. Whoops! At least they already redeemed themselves in my eyes before I realized they had to
o Blake was really rich, but I didn't understand how or why. Did he inherit the money from his parents, or was his company just that successful?

The bad
    - Stef kept mentioning this age gap between them, while Stef was thirty-five and kept referring to Blake as 'early forties'. That's not that much of a difference, certainly not at that age. It felt like Stef was written as a character much younger than thirty-five
    - Stef met Blake when she was dancing at a club, but that gig was never mentioned again. Did she do that as a job, or as a hobby? Did she still dance every now and again?

Quotes
    Clothing doesn't have a gender.

    "I love teasing you."
"Because you're a sadist at heart?"
"No. Because I love how passionate you are about everything. And sometimes I can make you laugh, and that brightens my world."

"If you can't handle the sass, you can't handle this ass."

I had totally forgotten my grudge against Stef when I started this book! And good thing I did, because Stef was absolutely lovely. And Blake was such a teddy bear. They were perfect together, complementing each other in every aspect like two puzzle pieces fitting together. And they were absolute saps. Especially Blake, but Stef was a sap too under all that sass. If you're looking for a sweet story without relationship angst, I'd absolutely recommend this book.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Free Me is the fourth book in Beck Grey’s Love in the Pacific Northwest series. This is a strong ensemble series with characters connected as both birth and found families. As the stories continue, the connections among the books are growing stronger and this one has a lot of interconnections. Stef is Erik’s best friend and Jules’ older brother from Choose Me. Blake works with Erik’s sister, Astrid, and the group’s single friend, Jocelin (whose book is coming next). Blake is also stepbrother to Tadhg from Embrace Me. The whole gang does interact at various points in the story, and this reading experience will be richer if you have some familiarity with other books. But I think as long as you are ok not knowing everyone’s backstory, this book would still work as a standalone.

This is a really low angst story where two people meet on a night out and then by chance meet again under different circumstances.  It is just like watching a love story unfold. Blake and Stef are both very likeable characters and they work so well together.  Stef is gender fluid and I found this book really helpful for me to personally learn more about it. Blake is a successful book publisher and has the wealth to prove it, but he is so much more than his money. He has integrity and is very humble. This is what Stef loves about him, he is fiercely loyal and so romantic. This isn't quite an insta-love story but there relationship definitely moves quickly. There are some very sexy scenes and the intimacy between the two MC's is very visible. The epilogue jumps forward several months so we are given a glimpse of what the future holds for them. I can't wait for Jocelin's story next. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Audiobook review - Gary Furlong has brought these incredible characters of Beck’s alive! I am even more in love with these characters than after initially reading the book. The connection between Stef and Blake made my heart swoon every time and when Blake calls Stef ‘Sweetheart’. I can listen to this time and time again. Thanks so much for the audio Beck and Gary.

Book review - OMG! Book 4 of this series has us revisiting some old friends. I am so glad to be part of Beck Grey’s ARC group to have a chance to read this book and provide my review. You don’t have to have read the previous books. Blake and Stef plays off each other beautifully. I love how Beck has written her characters to be so accepting and to detail the angst and prejudice gender fluid, non binary and even gay and trans people face on a daily basis. The way Stef just accepts their fluidity (which has taken a lot of trials) is shown so beautifully here and the way Blake just accepts them for who they are. This story makes me feel like I am visiting some old friends and have just caught up on their lives. It also makes me want to kick the villain in the nuts. A very enjoyable read!

I jumped into this series with this book and found I could follow the characters along even though I hadnt met them before.

Blake and Stef, are so sweet together and I love the expression of who they are that we see with Stef. How understanding Blake is and the way he supports and loves Stef.

Ive added the previous books to my tbr to play catch up.

This was adorable; you will smile a lot. While this was my first read but Beck Grey I for sure will be reading more, as well as going to the beginning of this series. I was introduced to this series, Love in the Pacific Northwest, by Blake and Stef and I am a-okay with that! I did not feel like I was missing too much, just now wanting to see and feel the deeper connections of our supporting characters. This was also my first read where one of the MC's was gender fluid and I learned a lot. Stef Evans and Blake McCarthy were perfect and amazing, and I had a lot of fun reading their love story. There is some angst and some genderfluidity shaming, but it is not extreme, and is handled with care by Beck.

This story has a sweet and playful vibe that catches your attention and holds it. The beginning literally starts off with a bang which is my favorite. Sex in the first chapter yes please and thank you! Right off the rip Blake McCarthy, our Tom Ford suit wearing Publishing house owner is entranced by Stef our vibrant and "beautiful no matter the gender" dancing queen on stage at Club Cake. Their eyes meet and it is game on. Blake feels out of his element, but Stef is not letting him get away and takes matters into their own hands. Their encounter was fast paced and uber sexy and left a mark on both our MC's. Unfortunately, they both feel it was a one and down, a wonderful memory to keep as their own, but then fate steps in and when Blake's health is in jeopardy his family adopts a "take no shit attitude" and forces him to see a Physiotherapist, who just so happens to be our wonderful Stef. Don't ya just love a good second meet cute scene? I do too! They are just as adorable as they were when they first met, and it is so fun seeing them try to navigate a professional relationship when they want to jump each other's bones. I loved the "Stef, you're fired" moment! I loved how they truly did try but the forces of nature were not to be ignored and so begins a bond with deep understanding and acceptance for who they each are and where they see their lives going. Blake is sooooo dang sweet and supports Stef no matter what, always respecting their pronouns. Stef is not just beautiful on the outside but the inside as well and they have proudly been who they are no matter the cost. They may feel like they are living the inevitable lonely but still fabulous life until Blake shows them, they can have more if not everything they want and need, if only your free to believe it.

This story was well rounded with really great detail and amazing chemistry. I just loved Blakes desire and adoration of Stef and loved how Stef respected Blake and took care of him in those intimate moments as well. Our supporting characters were all great and super important with one bad egg who definitely got what he deserved. Beck gave us some super special moments like the plant conservatory date Blake took Stef on and Stef meeting little amazing Benji there. Blake taking care of Stef when they were sick and Stef standing up for not only themselves but for Blake as well at the gala. And when Stef explains their identity and genderfluidity my respect for others like Stef grew immensely. I can't remember which part but I did get teary eyed which is always a sign that the writer got me right in the heart. The only thing I will say, even though their chemistry was superb, I felt there were a lot of fade-to-black moments in the middle of the story where I felt a bit cheated. That's me though, I want tons of dets and more pages of heat rather than not. And I felt like I didn't know Blake as well as I did Stef.

I loved this book, learned a lot, will for sure read more of Beck and can't wait to see this series continue.

Solid 4 stars!

Did I know what to expect when I began listening to 'Free Me'? Not at all, well maybe I thought I knew what Gary Furlong would sound like but honestly, even that surprised me. Gary is talent on two legs! Beck Grey? They are talent through and through. The combination is explosive! In the best possible way.

'Free Me' is a story that will make you laugh, make you cry, make you blush, make you smile oh and it might have you doing all the above at the same time, so good is not only the writing but the narration. Gary has nailed both characters, they sound as I would imagine them to sound, they completely complement one another, just as the story wants to show us they will, but I am getting ahead of myself for it takes time for them to realise just how complementary their persons are.

Blake is a workaholic, in his late forties he keeps himself in excellent shape but he is devoted to his job. Blake owns a publishing company and is entertaining a potential new author, one he needs to help him realise his dream of opening a new branch of the company. The nights entertainment has taken them to a club where the author so disgusts Blake that he is ready to leave until that voice, that person on the stage. She is stunning and when their eyes meet there is no denying the instant attraction. One thing leads to another and a hot, steamy if quick hookup. Blake doesn't forget his night with the stunning singer but work is his focus, so much so that he finds himself in the hospital, a suspected heart attack is thankfully stress but it is a wake up call and he is made to agree to a meditation coach.

Stef is a gender-fluid cutie whose stress levels are high but Prince Charmings are low in number. They have a job they love, a business they are building, great clients. They have great family and friends but they know something is missing and what better way to forget everything than to head to the club, ready to recharge with a dance, a song and wow... A hottie? As Stef sings their eyes meet Blake's and can't move away. A hookup was not in their plans but somehow it happens, how could it not with such a hottie? Forget self-restraint this could be just what they need. The only problem? They can't get hottie out of their minds afterwards.

Move on a little, Blake has had his scare, his family have done their convincing and he has booked his meditation coach. Stef recognises the new client immediately and Blake is certain there is something familiar. As soon as the penny drops, and they discover one of Stef's close friends is Blake's stepbrother all plans go out of the window. Even more so when Stef discovers that Blake accepts them for who they are, is sensitive about pronouns, loves every part of Stef for who they are. But can they both manage to find a way to mix their business with their pleasure, will something have to give or can they truly make it work?

There are tests ahead but at every potential hurdle Blake proves once again how committed he is, how deep his understanding is and Stef knows they are falling and falling hard. There are scenes in this story which I had to listen to more than once, not because they confused or muddled me but because they are simply so heart achingly beautiful. When you listen you will understand why the botanical gardens and the formal dinner are just a couple of examples of this. I love Stef, their enthusiasm, energy and love for life as well as their acceptance of who they are. I can understand their journey and they have been an inspiration for me, encouraging me to stand proud of who I am. I love Blake, he is open, honest, non judgmental and passionate. Neither are perfect but they are who they are, they are happy and proud. Their worlds have collided and they decide to make a go of it. Their hookup went in the right direction and their HEA is stunning.

I was hooked on every word. This is a story I could listen to endlessly, I want to read it too, to hear it and see it in my mind as I read the words. Beck Grey has a skill with words, with storytelling that makes me want to step into their stories and stay there. I am never looking back now, their books, their audiobooks are in my life and staying here.

First things first, I definitely got lucky and received a copy of this book to read as part of the author’s ARC team. I know, be jealous, it’s cool. Thank you to Beck, for being the amazing human they are!

Okay, so! Let’s unpack these thoughts and turn them into a review. Please note: I haven’t had more than ten hours of sleep in two weeks. No, I’m not exaggerating or kidding, and yes, my brain is basically the equivalent of hot coffee that’s gotten cold. If this review makes no sense, you’re going to have to try and be understanding of the fact that I’m T R Y I N G.

I knew I’d love Stef, because they are the human personification of the too-much gene, and that was definitely the case and I am definitely always going to be here for it. Even their thoughts and inner dialogue were extra, and they remind me of my brother-in-law. I will literally NEVER forget the absolute joy I’ve heard in the “Great Queen Battle of Natchez” retellings over the years. (Spoiler alert: Jason lost, and that’s all that needs to be said.) Between their fashion, their sense of self, their passion and dedication, and their obviously correct opinion on milkshakes and fries being made to go together, they’re one of my favourite characters of the series. Just know that they’re too much, and the writing perfectly reflects that in all aspects. If you don’t like characters that embrace themselves wholly and without apology, you might not like Stef.

Then there’s Blake, who is also too-much, but in a totally different way. He’s way less stuffy than he gives himself credit for, and I don’t entirely think that’s solely because of Stef. I know, I know.. me and my theories. But, theories aside, he’s a wonderful character, and much nicer in his medical situation than my husband was, I don’t care how hateful he was supposed to sound. Again, the writing supports his character perfectly, and gives him depth and life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I have been trying to patiently wait for it since I devoured the last one, and I’m happy that it’s finally here! Well, almost here, but I don’t think that matters. Even in my sleep deprivation fog, I had no issues keeping up and following along. The editing was pretty solid, and though there were things I’d have done differently, every editor is different, and I’m just incapable of turning that part of my brain off. It was consistent, it made sense, and it went with the series beautifully.

4.5/5! It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty perfect for me. I’ll definitely be reading it again, if only to make sure I fully absorbed the whole thing!

You lied to me when you said that I wouldn't need my box of tissues for this one! The immediate spark between Blake and Stef lets you know that their relationship is going to be something special. Blake is such a great man. The way he loves and supports the people in his life that are important to him. Him constantly letting Stef know that he is there to support them and wants to be with them no matter what gender they wake up wanting to be that day. If they are in a dress or a suit, he just wants to be with them. I must admit I didn't really know anything about gender fluidity but this book explains it and makes it easy to understand where the h is coming from. The love and support that they both get from family and friends is heartwarming. It was a little funny that they both have the same friends but have somehow never met before. Although the story is low angst there is one tiny hiccup to their hea but it's quickly dealt with. It was so great to see the rest of the characters from the series, especially my favorite Jules and his love Erik. In this one they are planning their wedding and maybe in Heal Me we'll get to see them walk down the aisle!

“I’m not crying. I just have emotions in my eyes.”
"I’m the gayest gay person who ever gayed." 🤣
"I’m just as sure we’ll both do everything we can to make it a soft landing for each other.” 😊
"Stef’s gender is a non-issue, and I will not let anyone make it otherwise. Nor will I give them up. This is a hill I’m willing to die on. Personally and professionally. As much as it would pain me to lose this company, I will watch it die a slow, painful death before I allow anyone to come between Stef and me. If things don’t work out between us, it’ll be from incompatibility, not some bigots who want to throw their weight around and threaten my business." 🥹❤️
"I love you for exactly who you are, and I will never be ashamed to be with you under any circumstances. I never want you to dim your inner light for anyone, including me." 🥰🤗
“You keep being you, and I’ll keep loving you for it.” 😊🥰🤗❤️
"We’ll be each other’s safe space, the place where we're free to be our true selves and know we’re loved no matter what." 🥰❤️
"He’s my missing piece. My other half. The person who keeps me grounded." 🤗😊

I am leaving my honest review for a complimentary copy of this book via the author.

Free Me has been on my kindle for a while, and it was time to give it a read. (Full disclosure: this is book 4 in a series and as is my fashion I did not read 1-3. But this book stands alone nicely even if the glimpses of previous couples made me want to know more.)
This was such a sweet surprise. A hard-charging, Type A publisher pushes himself to the point of a panic attack that he thinks is a heart attack. With that wake up call, he agrees to attempt a better work life balance and enlists a physiotherapist to help him learn how to relax.
Of course, he’s already met physio Steph, as they both shared an out of character encounter at a club… Steph isn’t sure Blake remembers them. But how could Steph forget the slightly older hottie in the Tom Ford suit?
Blake is so darn likable! And I love how accepting he is of Steph. His curiosity, rooted in genuinely wanting to know Steph, sets the stage for some great communication. (Huge green flag for me!). I learned a lot about gender fluidity in a way that felt natural and organic to the story.
Steph is a bit extra, but has a huge heart. Exes have always ended up asking him to tone it down. Blake telling him “if someone says you’re too much, maybe they’re not enough…” calmed Steph’s insecurities with his simple, stalwart acceptance. I loved Blake saying they were each other’s safe space.
These two have crazy chemistry. Steph is going to need all his professional skills to keep calm as he teaches Blake meditation.
There was so great moments- like alpha seeming Blake being ticklish and giggly. I was smitten when he admits he wants Steph to take charge, and how Steph loved taking command. There are some fun worlds-colliding moments once Blake stops working 24/7, watching their interconnected friends and family together.
They are amazing in bed, but their dates to local Seattle spots show their connection isn’t just physical. I loved this part, and their getting to know you was lovely.
There’s a bit of work drama with a troublesome author, but this is a sweet, sexy, low-angst book.
I really enjoyed Steph and Blake’s journey- and the ending show how much they’ve both grown.

I thoroughly enjoyed the main characters in this book, and felt the supporting characters added a lot of information to create context if the 3 previous books haven’t been read. It was an important book for me because, being a senior over 70 and not as aware of the variations of gender identification used today, I gained a much better understanding of binary, non-binary and gender fluidity through the explanations Stef gave in chapter 6, and how the pronouns and identification are used. I still find myself having to pause and recalibrate my thinking when coming across the they/them pronouns (it’s the old teacher/“proper English usage” in me) in my reading, but it is becoming more natural the more I come across it.
I really loved the character of Stef, they were so sure of themselves and their identity, and willing to not get too upset by those they came across that were not accepting or understanding, even though it could be hurtful. The part with Benji in the Conservatory was so sweet and added more to the explanations in chapter 6, and had a good message for readers, parents (and bystanders) of non-binary children. The way the author wrote the entire book made it seem so normal for Stef and so easy for the reader to just go with flow and understand how Stef was able to know their gender identification for the day and express themselves accordingly. Blake seemed to adjust so quickly and always clarify the pronouns Stef used, and was so accepting of the daily changes that it further encouraged understanding from the reader. The two were a perfect match and deserved their HEA.
I would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand nonbinary and gender fluidity identifications as I thought the explanations were very clear.
I will also be checking into the previous books in this series to learn more about the other characters that played prominent parts in this book.I received a copy through Gay Romance Reviews and and pleased to leave a review.

Free Me by Beck Grey is the fourth book in the Love in the Pacific Northwest series. I loved the previous books and this one is a gem, too.

We first meet Blake in Embrace Me , he’s Tadgh’s rich stepbrother. Blake is a successful book publisher married to his job. He’s a workaholic and doesn’t do relationships, only occasional one-night hookups. Work-life balance is not his priority until a chest pain makes him realise he needs to slow things. Part of his recovery is meditation and physiotherapy.

When reading Choose Me , Stef was a character that for the most part of the book I didn’t like. How is it possible that my feelings for the same character are so different after reading Free Me? Stef is so different in this book. They’re a cutie and a sunshine. They are sweet, kind, almost the perfect man, lightning up a room when they enter it.

Blake and Stef met at a club. One look at each other’s eyes and a spark lights between them. What was supposed to be an anonymous one-night hookup, turns to be something totally different when they meet again under other circumstances; it turns that Stef is Blake’s new meditation therapist.

I loved how Blake accepted Stef exactly as they are, making them aware that he loved them for who they are. It was really awesome for Blake to ask Stef’s pronoun each day. I also loved how Stef’s fluidity is shown and how they accept it. This details are significant in the success of their relationship. These are my favourite things in the book and Beck explains them in such a beautiful way.

Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading it as part of the series. All the books are awesome. I have enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

I received an ARC from the author for free and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This is one simply wonderful book in the “Love in Pacific NorthWest” series and it is the 4th one. If you had the opportunity to read the prior books, you are in for a treat because you get to know more about the 2 MCs who were introduced in the 2nd and 3rd books separately. We as readers gets the opportunity to follow the 2 minor characters on their wedding planning adventure as well as learning more about the MCs! Loved how the author interweaves the characters together! More than the allotted 5 stars reading from me!

The story focuses on Blake, the CEO of a publishing company in Seattle who was trying to nab an author to use his company to publish books exclusively. That night, the author wanted to hit a bar so Blake grudgingly went with him. While the author was dancing, Blake happened to notice this person and decided to follow them into a secluded area and had some fun. Later, when Blake had this close heart attack episode, his doctor ordered him to get some help with mediation. Blake’s brother, Tadgh referred him to a mediation therapist. Blake decided to contact this referral and set up an appointment. The referral was none other than the person he had some fun. At that time he did not realize this but the referral recognized him but kept mum about it. The reason for this was they needed the money and their business was just starting. That was Stef. Stef was also assisting their brother, Jules, another character from the other book with planning a wedding. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read to find out how all of this entails and whether Blake was able to nab the author or not!

4 Stars!

This story was my first by the author. While this is the fourth book in the series, I had no issues reading it as a standalone. I will say that I am curious enough to want to read at least the books about Blake's stepbrother (Embrace Me) and Stef's brother (Chose Me) soon.

Blake and Stef are definitely a case of opposites attract, but they fit amazingly well together. Their attraction at their first meeting manages to get Blake to act outside his comfort zone, which was fun to see. I'm glad that they cleared the air once they were reunited in a different setting. I liked that they kept things professional and got to know each other better for a bit. It was great seeing Blake starting to take time for himself and learning to deal with his stress better. I liked how he accepted all of Stef and made sure to encourage Stef to be themself. Stef is like a breath of fresh air, and I loved how he was so willing to help his brother whenever he needed it. It was fun to see Blake realize just how many friends they have in common with each other. All their friends were great, and I loved how they all supported each other.

All in all, I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more books from the author.

Blake is dedicated to his publishing company to the point of obsession. HIs passion for growing his business and continuing his success eventually lands him in hospital. When his step-mom recommends he see a physiotherapist to help him learn to relax and care for himself, he reluctantly agrees.

Stef is bright, bubbly, and joyful. They see the beauty in the world and rejoice in it. They also are gender-fluid, and have learned to fully embrace all sides of themself. When they arrive at Blake’s house to begin his therapy, they realize that not only is Blake incredibly attractive, he is also the hook-up that Stef cannot forget.

I adored this book from the beginning. Stef is such a bright and beautiful character, their positive attitude and acceptance of who they are is a lesson everyone should learn. They fully embrace the world around them, and refuse to let negativity affect them. Blake is drawn to Stef from the minute he lays eyes on them; the attraction is instant and electric. They connect deeply and fully and accept that connection.

Their story is low-angst, full of family and friends who are family, brief glimpses of characters from previous books (it’s always lovely to see what they are up to) and shows the reader that being who you are and embracing that fully is the best way to live your life.

This is the 4th book in the Love in the Pacific Northwest Series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book. I have not read a lot of books with gender-fluid characters. The author did an excellent job of explaining and describing what type of life that causes someone to live. This is the story of Blake and Stef. Blake is an owner of a book publishing company. He is constantly working as he loves his job. He never takes time for himself or for fun. Stef on the other hand is a ray of sunshine and light. Stef is a physiotherapist who provides in-home meditation and stress reduction sessions. The two first meet at a bar when Stef is in his She/Her pronouns and have a hook up that both can't forget. They meet again after Blake is hospitalized due to stress-related chest pains. This is their story. I really loved how Blake respected Stef and admitted that he needed education of gender-fluid. I also liked that Blake is an older, well established character. So when he says to Stef, just be you; you know he had the confidence and ability to mean it. This is their story. It is very well written and easy to read. I liked the chemistry and the respect shown between them and their family. I look forward to more books by this author.

Blake is doing his dream job and although it is lonely an occasional hookup keeps him ok. He is fine being a workaholic until he has chest pains and ends up in the emergency room. His family encourage him to make some life changes and he is worried enough to agree to start with engaging a meditation and physiotherapist. He is surprised to find out that his practitioner turns out to be the hookup he hasn’t been able to forget. Stef is gender-fluid and heads to a club to recharge his sparkle on the dance floor and even though it was not his original intention ends up with a hookup with a slightly older hottie in the Tom Ford suit. When starting with a new client Stef is shocked to discover that he is the hookup and is his friend's older brother. Mixing business with pleasure is a huge no-no but his heart keeps shouting yes.

I loved this story with the boring workaholic Blake and the vivacious Stef who together make the perfect combination. I loved the care that Blake took over listening to Stef and being careful to ask which pronounces to use that day. The way that Blake was determined to defend Stef and would not tolerate anyone disrespecting them was wonderful and a great lesson to us all. I loved the way that the story ended and that they were firmly a couple who were meant to be. This was an MM story with mature content.

Love in the Pacific Northwest is a fantastic series full of amazing representation, and some really awesome legal and found family. Free Me is a wonderful addition to the series. I’m totally taken by Stef and Blake.

Blake’s a workaholic, but not a stuffy or grumpy one like so many we know. He’s lovely and loyal to friends, family, and clients. But still, a workaholic who needs to learn some work-life balance. Who better than someone full of life and passion?

Stef is loud and proud. So often they're told they’re too much. Too loud, too bossy, too gay. Add in that they’re genderfluid, which most of their dates fail to understand, or respect, and you could say they’re a little leary of dating. But when their club hookup, turned client, ends up being a man that seems to love all of them…Stef is both ecstatic and cautious it’s too good to be true.

This is a low-angst story full of self-acceptance, embracing joy, and finding your home. It has some adorable dates and some really sweet moments.

Okay, this is unbelievable sweet but it had just the right amount of tension and angst to balance it out and keep me hooked. The chemistry between Blake, the uptight workaholic publisher, and Stef, the genderfluid physiotherapist, was electric from their first club hookup, through their meditation sessions, and into their relationship. I was glued to their story, ready for each cute, sweet, hot, sticky moment between them.

The whole book is so playful and fun, and also does a great job of showing one way that someone can be genderfluid. Stef swings through the gender spectrum, and Blake is totally there for every second of it. Stef is understandably nervous about being a partner to such a visible person like Blake who networks for his publishing house and wants to take Stef along, regardless of which gender they are presenting today. Even when the two have to confront transphobia in their lives, it's never inside their relationship, and I felt so safe and cared for throughout the book. Seriously so bubbly.

I didn't read the rest of the series before this, but I'm totally going to, because this was great. Maybe my highlight of this years Trans Right Readathon.

In the true spirit of my five stars, I have never read a story like this one. I am a cis-het femme presenting woman and I have many friends in the LGBTQ community. I have read plenty of romance of all kinds except this. I have been nervous to navigate the singular they within a story because I thought I would get confused and annoyed. While I cognitively understand non-binary, I have never been able to conceptualize what that feels like or put myself into anyone else’s shoes… until now. I am so so so grateful to Beck for gifting me this audiobook. I am absolutely in love with Stef and Blake. I am in love with their friends and family. Beck even made me love Seattle, which I have long ignored as a damp downer. I had ZERO trouble navigating gender in this book and DAMN do I love a hero who annoys many lovers, but then finds the right one. Makes me think of that alien book I read last year. This story is built on BEAUTIFUL and complex characters with a narrator who absolutely gives us a FULL cast recording. Please read this. It’s so wonderful. It’s so wonderful that I’m scared to read more that I might not like as much!!

There is nothing like reading a book based on your home town. This is another excellent book within the series. I love how other characters from the other books cross over. The narrator did a great job of keeping solid with each character. You’ll love Blake and Steph. I think they both complement each other. Blake is a workaholic who doesn’t know how to relax, and Steph is a bright person on a dark day. They both need each other for different reasons.

All Blake wants is to get this new author signed with his company, but it's a pain. Steph wants love, but I'm unsure he’ll ever get it.
Blake finally goes out with friends and meets this sexy little spitfire. Who would’ve thought it was Steph? Please leave it to Blake to let stress at work finally get to him. With the help of family and friends, they are brought together. This was a fun read, and I can’t wait for the next book.

I received an advance review copy for free from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.

ARC received from the author for an honest review.

Blake is a work aholic who has just had a wake up call. He's given the number of Stef to call for meditation and physio. When they come together they realize that they've met before. One hot night and a hook-up later and they haven't forgotten each other. Can they work together when they still want to tear each others clothes off?

This is a really nice story of how a work aholic and a carefree life of the party, opposites attract, really can work together. There's a little drama outside the couple that's easily taken care of. Their friends and family blend seamlessly because they don't know at first that it's the same friend circle. They each bring out the best in each other. Their chemistry is good and they easily fall into a work and personal relationship. I liked that the couples from the previous books are back with some updates into their lives. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

I'm probably a little biased because I've loved this entire series and everything that Beck Grey has written, but honestly I think Free Me is my new favourite story! It not only brings together two very opposite people who fit well togther, but it also unites two sides of the friendship/found family spectrum that the Love in the Pacific Northwest series is based on... and draws Blake into the fold nicely!

This book has an instant connection that isn't acted on until after they meet again, a lovely outlook with respectful and sweet characters who are allowed to be themselves and also grow within the relationship AND some super steamy times...

Beck Grey pays attention to all the little details and references them throughout the story to make it both personal and meaningful to the characters!

While I think you can jump into any one of these novels as standalone, you will definitely find the worlds colliding element fun if you've read the series from the beginning.

I sympathisized with Blake so much here. He's got the job of his dreams and is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes personally to continue to excel professionally. A few hookups to let off some steam and he thinks he's good to go. Unfortunately, that lifestyle takes its toll and he ends up in the ER and reluctantly agrees to hire someone to teach him how to meditate, exercise and relax. That person just happens to be sunshiny Stef one of those hookups that Blake never forgot. I adored Stef immediately. Open, out there holding nothing back and living life to its fullest. Also, totally smitten with Blake as well and now he discovers he's a client and his friend's older brother (one of my favorite tropes!). These two are clearly meant for each other and while they dance around it for a little while, they are both bright enough to see they need to be together. My favorite so far in this series.

Angst free sweetness

Steph and Blake are a sweet, fun couple. They are absolutely perfect for each other. Blake is the open, accepting person Steph has always wanted—someone who sees them and loves them for exactly who they are. And for Blake, Steph is the breath of fresh air, the sparkle his life was missing. They are adorable together and their relationship is so healthy and lovely.

This book is full of smiles because Steph is sassy and confident and never lets anyone dim his shine. There’s even one scene that was so sweet I cried.

My only complaint is that it is too angst free. I think I would have liked it better if it had been a short story or a novella. Or if there had been a least a little more conflict or obstacles. It just felt like their relationship came too easily.

Still, I am happy Steph got their HEA. They’re such a wonderful brother to Jules and a fierce and loyal friend that I am glad they finally got their own happy ending.

Audio: 5 stars, Gary Furlong is one of my favorites so it's an automatic 5!!
Book: 3-3.5 stars

While I loved seeing both Stef and Blake get their HEA, it felt a little too easy... yes, sometimes that works, but even they would comment saying how fast they were falling, and how strong their connection was early on haha! I think that this could have been a novella for that reason alone. They would have the same conversations, and same inner monologue that those parts could have been cut.

I did love how accepting and how supportive Blake was when he found out that Stef was gender fluid. Blake made sure to clarify any questions he had so he didn't mess up, and you could tell that meant a lot to Stef.

Overall, this was a sweet, low angst read, and I was glad to go back to the PNW with these characters. But this was just missing a little extra something to make it higher than a 3 star for me!

Blake and Stef, a gender fluid physiotherapist have a hook up at a bar. A few days later, Blake becomes their patient. They are already attracted but agree to keep it professional until therapy is done. At first, I was confused that I couldn't find any mention of gender fluidity being made at the hook up when everyone addressed them as she but Blake noticed an Adam's apple or genitals lacking his surprise. I found that odd. The rest of the book was clearly set out though and they are hot together. Stef is sexy in their self confidence and awareness of himself. Blake is a possessive grump that's food for Stef's feelings and wonderfully open to his gender fluidity. Sex is off the charts. And Stef is so in touch with their identity, it makes you cry with their wisdom he shares. Great book! I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
