Aradishir has always been the loner amongst his siblings. That he's finally taken a full harem astonishes the whole court. He will someday have to take a wife as well, but that's a distant concern, especially as he's the youngest.
Then he meets Princess smart, funny, as interested in helping people as he is, beautiful, and she seems to fit in perfectly in Tavamara, despite having never visited before. She is the woman of his dreams, and he would do anything, everything, asked of him to earn the honor of taking her as his wife.
She's also betrothed to his brother, and no woman on earth, especially an older and wiser woman like Relanya, would ever choose the little brother when she already has the crown prince…
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
I've enjoyed all of the books in the Tales of Tavamara world and this novella was just as enjoyable. Aradishir is the youngest Prince in his family. He mostly works behind the scenes in important work to stem the tide of human trafficking. It puts him at dangerous odds with some in the merchant class who profit off the trade.
Aradishir's brother is away, but his brother's fiancee, Princess Relanya, is arriving as part of an arranged marriage. Aradishir's mother asks him to host Relanya until the brother can arrive back home. When the two meet, Aradishir is alarmed to find that he is extremely attracted to his brother's fiancee. Danger, betrayal, and love all emerge in this highly entertaining story.
Megan as always makes you feel surrounded by her characters and worlds. Read the others before diving into this one. It's short and feels slightly rushed, but as always, I love her work.
It's very well written but my God am I having a hard time getting through this one. It's purely my own fault, I've read them out of order and have read my favorite, A Fragile Heart, twice, and it's breaking my heart to have Aradishir talk like this about his brother when I know what's going on. T_T
