A very original story filled with adventure, friendship, magic and treacherous trials. I was glued to the pages from the first chapter and it just kept getting better and better. I highly recommend it if you enjoy reading dark and gritty fantasy novels with beautifully detailed world building and moments that will make you cry but also laugh and fall in love with the characters.
This book is so unique and engaging. It is HIGH fantasy, and it carries with it a wonderful expectation for its reader to fully envelope themselves in the story. The prose is amazing and the author really has a great command of language. There are moments within the books that are almost poetic, even in their darkness, and it makes the story so much more palpable. It takes just a little bit to get into the full story, as the writing puts you right into the midst of the story in seconds, but once it gets moving, you won't want to put it down. The story itself is HUGE, spanning multiple epic locales, constant confrontation and tension, all leading to great character growth, and I love the way it follows the characters through their life in almost an EPIC style (think Odyssey). Each character, even the minor, nameless ones, are given so much life and it really makes the story feel full. It took just a moment to adjust to the multiple POV angle, sometimes within each paragraph, but once it clicks in, once again, the authors command of the words on the page keep it engaging and meaningful. It is never confusing or overbearing. Really looking forward to more from this author, not only in this astoundingly wide fantastical world but just in general.
