Into the Chasm: WarGuards of Ikshe

Find the Alien Warrior. His heart claimed me as his mate!

My teammates and I had bleak futures and pasts we'd rather forget, so when we were tasked with finding four missing WarGuard warriors from an alien race, we jumped in feet first.

Now, two of my colleagues are missing—and I am too. Trapped belowground, I still have access to VELMA, the machine-learning program that gave us our rescue mission. Thanks to her, I know I won't die here. Probably.

But when I find one of the alien warriors, I also find an irresistible attraction that I can't ignore. VELMA tells me there's a precedent for alien/human couples, but I don't know. Can an alien warrior and a human woman have a future in a place called Predator Planet? Or will the desire we feel for each other make us too vulnerable to risk falling in love?

This is one of the WarGuards of Ikshe novellas from the Predator Planet Universe. It has Instalove, mild peril, cultural misunderstandings, and a steamy consensual scene that leaves little to the imagination. One click now and continue your adventures on Predator Planet!

We're back with the second of the ladies VELMA has tapped to lead a rescue mission on Certain Death and Tasheka has her work cut out for her. Mostly because this planet REALLY likes to try to kill the people who land on it.

Also, she got sucked up by a sinkhole and is now trapped underground with a warrior who might be dealing with his heart migrating for her. I'm not talking metaphorically, either. These warriors have their hearts LITERALLY change locations when they find their special someone. Which is sweet and also maybe a little concerning.

Anywho. Tasheka is kind of second guessing her agreement to help with this rescue when Grace gets snatched by a giant flying critter moments after they leave the drop ship. In fact, she's a bit of a mess about it. Then another of her comrades disappears and she really hits that "what was I thinking" button hard. THEN she gets pulled into a sinkhole and deposited in a massive underground cave system and things probably couldn't get worse, right? Except she ends up finding the one of the warriors and he's...well, she might like him and his courteous ways. He's not too hard on the eyes either.

On Dukaza's end, he's in a bit of a pickle when Tasheka finds him. As in, he's been envenomated and isn't really at his best. But he rallies and pulls through (thanks to Tasheka and VELMA's knowledge of all the things that can kill a person on this planet) and now he's wondering why his heart keeps twitching when he gets close to his rescuer.

The feelings happen quickly (which I like) and the planet lives up to its reputation (which I also like). Another lady has matched up with her warrior and I LIKE IT!

4.5 stars. Tasheka, the female human lead, is part of an all-female group sent to retrieve alien warriors from a deadly planet. Crashing through a sinkhole into an underground cave network, she’s separated from her team and needs to make her way back to the surface. Miraculously, she finds Dukaza, the male alien lead, also in the cave system and, with the help of her suit’s AI, they begin making their way to the surface.

Dukaza has been raised in a matriarchal society. Whilst surprised by Tasheka’s capabilities, since she’s so physically small compared to him, he’s prepared for her to lead him. He’s much less prepared to find his biological responses are those of a mate - she’s an alien after all…

This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast paced, sweet and steamy, action focused, sci fi romance. I enjoyed Tasheka’s courage and her enthusiasm for taking the opportunity presented to her. I enjoyed Dukaza’s calmness and his contentment in sometimes challenging situations. I enjoyed the expedited relationship development and the happy ending. I’m enjoying these short stories in the author’s existing world - they contrast nicely with the longer, in-depth tales of the main plot arc stories.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

This is another fun novella set in the author's Predator Planet series. Well written with a fast pace, I enjoyed following human gal, Tasheka's journey to a fab HEA with Dukuza. He's used to a matriarchal society but certainly didn't expect to feel mating urges for someone of another species ;) Tasheka was fab and so brave. I also loved her suit's AI, which really helped them out. Expect to get caught up in the action, drama, danger and sweet and steamy romance as they get their happy ending. So fun and I can't wait for what's next by this author :D

Into the Chasm is a Warguards of Ikshe novella. This was an entertaining, thrilling adventurous fast paced sci-fi romance. I love these types of short stories where the reader is instantly pulled into a new world and within the suspense there is an instant but well written romance between two different species. I recommend this book and encourage you to read the other books in the Predator Planet series.

This is a short and sweet instalove story. On a planet called "certain death", crazy wildlife out to kill, there's no time to waste. I enjoyed the fast paced aspect!
