Clashing Moon è il sesto volume della serie Crescent Moon Ranch chiamata così per l'omonimo nome del ranch dove sono cresciuti i nostri protagonisti. Nei volumi precedenti abbiamo conosciuto Stella (il primo volume) e i suoi cinque figli (i volumi restanti).
Nell’ultimo ci soffermiamo su: Rafferty, il medico del paese, che un po’ per il lavoro e un po’ perché il posto non offre tantissime opportunità, è ancora single. Arabella, la veterinaria del paese che è stata costretta a tornare per occuparsi del padre malato. I due si conoscono fin da bambini ma c’è sempre stata rivalità tra loro, almeno fino a quando una tempesta di neve…
È il primo libro che leggo di quest’autrice e forse non è stata una buona idea iniziare dall’ultimo della serie perché ci sono qui e là spoiler riguardo le altre coppie. È anche vero che i volumi possono essere letti singolarmente perché ogni volume ha per protagonista una coppia diversa.
Nonostante questo ho letto questo volume senza problemi ma devo ammettere che mi aspettavo di più. La sensazione è che accade tutto troppo velocemente per i miei gusti. Praticamente basta una lunga chiacchierata e i due protagonisti si giurano subito amore eterno. Preferisco storie d’amore fatte di contrasti e più travagliate prima di arrivare al lieto fine. In questo caso avviene tutto senza problemi. Peccato perché le premesse erano interessanti.
Per quanto riguarda i personaggi, Rafferty avrebbe avuto bisogno di una caratterizzazione maggiore rispetto ad Arabella (che ho preferito). L’ambientazione, però, è davvero suggestiva e non mancano tematiche importanti che rendono la storia più profonda.
Lo stile è scorrevole e coinvolgente ma non so se è un’autrice che fa per me.

What a beautiful ending to a wonderful series

What a great ending to a wonderful series! This is the story of Arabella and Rafferty’s unexpected journey through the snowstorm literally and figuratively. Snowed in together does strange things to make people look at each other from a different perspective and understand what’s what and so their unique story unfolding and take on a new path.
Tess Thompson has a gentle way to approach very sensitive topics.
My emotions and feelings were all over while reading this beautifully written book and left me in tears when I finished reading it. It’s a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to the amazing Moon family. I absolutely loved it.

Oh, how I have always loved Rafferty. This book brings him and Arabella together in the craziest of ways. Being together with a nemesis may just be what these two need to get over past hurts. Rafferty, the town doctor and Arabella the town vet, what better pair than them?

I loved this story. The Moon brothers hold a special place in my heart. Rafferty has had it coming for a long time. Mr. Grumpy is finally getting what he had coming in the very unlikely form of his nemesis. Arabella can't help but grab the reader. Her life is hard, and it makes for a very emotional read, but one that can't be overlooked. Her story was so relatable to me in so many ways. Having a hard childhood really had me feeling all the feels for Arabellas hurt. This was one book that really touched me. I have never been let down by a Tess book, and once again, she knocked it out of the park with this book. This series, really. #slurfpig4life

Buongiorno amiche lettrici, 
oggi desidero parlarvi dell’ultimo volume di una serie che ho seguito con grande interesse a partire dal primo libro, per poi appassionarmi di volta in volta, alla storia di ognuno dei cinque figli Moon! Una serie caratterizzata da trame che trovano la loro esaltazione nei legami familiare, nei valori importanti e nei buoni sentimenti che si trasformano in caldo abbraccio, quello di una comunità che nel diventare un'entità a sé, si stringe attorno a ogni abitante, partecipando alle vicissitudini che colpiscono il piccolo centro di Bluefern, nel quale la famiglia Moon, con il suo ranch adibito a struttura turistica, è diventata nel tempo un punto di riferimento, non soltanto per i residenti della zona, ma anche per chi arriva da lontano, in cerca di un posto sicuro in cui ricominciare, lavorare e vivere. La natura e la bellezza paesaggistica diventa la cornice ideale di ogni romanzo, in cui la trama suggestiva si articola seguendo una traccia romance, corredata a sua volta, da una componente più sofferta e drammatica che nello sfiorare tematiche sensibili, regala maggiore profondità a ogni storia e immancabili spunti di riflessione.  

Questo tipo di tempo mi faceva inevitabilmente pensare a mia madre. Avevo tre anni quando scomparve una mattina di febbraio, per non tornare mai più.

Ed è così anche questa volta, a cominciare dalle prime pagine, dove la crudeltà e la furia degli elementi atmosferici, nel loro abbattersi sulla terra ruvida e selvaggia del Montana, diventano la causa di una circostanza difficile e di un evento doloroso che coinvolge in prima battuta Arabella e di riflesso anche Rafferty. Inaspettatamente si troveranno costretti ad rivedere ciò che è stato tra di loro, fin da quando erano bambini, per abbattere quella cortina di convinzioni errate e pregiudizi, che nel tempo, hanno contribuito a fomentare l’antipatia profonda e quel senso di fastidio, che ha caratterizzato il loro rapporto! Rafferty, il terzogenito della famiglia Moon e Arabella Collins, sono stati compagni di scuola, dall'asilo al liceo, ma soprattutto avversari , rivali e nemici, così spavaldi e temerari, sicuri di riuscire a spuntarla, perchè imbattibili nel tenersi testa a vicenda e instancabili nello sfidarsi a colpi di intelligenza e determinazione!

In qualsiasi classe fossimo, cercavamo sempre di battere l’altro. A volte vincevo io. Altre volte vinceva lui. 

Entrambi ambiziosi e smaniosi di successo, sono entrati in competizione fin da piccoli, tanto da considerarsi reciprocamente, l’uno la nemesi dell’altra. Un’avversione dettata dalla volontà di primeggiare, che però nasconde tanto altro, come un disagio profondo che ha, a seconda dei soggetti in questione, una motivazione e un peso diverso. Per Rafferty si è trattato del bisogno di emergere, per ritagliarsi il proprio spazio all’interno di una famiglia amorevole e numerosa, specialmente come il fratello di mezzo, nato dopo i due più grandi, Atticus e Caspian e prima dei due minori, Soren e Thad.

Nel caso di Arabella invece, è stato il tentativo di attirare un po’ di considerazione dall'unico genitore rimasto, ma soprattutto come l'unica possibilità per evadere da una realtà pesante e sofferta, grazie a una borsa di studio,  che le avrebbe permesso di allontanarsi da Bluefern per perseguire i propri sogni e progetti, e dare inizio a una nuova vita. Anche Rafferty  ha sempre avuto le idee chiare riguardo al proprio futuro, convinto nel voler diventare un medico di prestigio, per lasciare un segno del suo operato, come è stato per  Atticus, il fratello geniale e responsabile, oppure Caspian, lo chef pieno di estro e fantasia, che fin da bambino amava cucinare, nonostante fosse osteggiato e deriso dal padre biologico.  

I suoi fratelli erano tutti dolci e rilassati. Non Rafferty. Lui era come me. Ambizioso e determinato. Bisognava essere un po’ arroganti per decidere di tentare la scuola di medicina. Ma avevamo fissato i nostri obiettivi e non ci eravamo arresi.

Tanti sono gli aspetti che accomunano i due giovani protagonisti, che si conoscono da sempre ma che non si sono mai guardati sul serio, troppo occupati a lottare e a mettersi i bastoni tra le ruote, ma sempre in maniera corretta, a suon di voti migliori e successi scolastici. La vita li ha portati ad affrontare un percorso di studi lontano, ma ora che sono dei trentenni, sono tornati a Bluefern per ricoprire i loro rispettivi ruoli, lui come il medico accorto, gentile e rispettato da tutti, mentre lei, come la veterinaria competente e preparata, pronta a farsi in quattro per mediare alle disavventure degli animali da compagnia e dei ranch della zona. Sono diventate delle figure di riferimento,  amati e rispettati dalla gente del posto che li considera un fiore all’occhiello e un vanto per l’intera comunità. 

La nostra antipatia reciproca era così radicata che non riuscivo nemmeno a ricordare cosa non mi piacesse di lei. A parte il fatto che era più intelligente di me. Questa era la verità.

Ma tra loro? Vivono nello stesso posto e si incontrano, ma prudentemente si osservano a distanza e si tengono alla larga. Ne abbiamo avuto la conferma soprattutto nei volumi precedenti, per piccoli cenni, perchè ora nel romanzo dedicato proprio a Rafferty e Arabella, fin dal principio a causa di un evento che li coinvolge entrambi, la lotta lascia velocemente spazio alla curiosità, all’ammirazione e al desiderio di spingersi oltre l’apparenza, per scoprirsi e conoscersi sul serio, abbandonando ciò che è stato nel passato. Un passato che li accomuna più di quanto sembri e che scoprono soltanto quando incominciano a parlare e a confidarsi, in una notte in cui il dramma serpeggia e l’alba del giorno seguente, porta con sé scoperte nefaste, ma al tempo stesso, un sospiro di leggerezza. Da questo momento in poi, la trama prende forma, si espande e si allarga, per inglobare diversi aspetti della storia, che hanno lo scopo di portare alla luce misteri taciuti e segreti finalmente rivelati, che emergono inaspettati,  regalando finalmente ad Arabella una nuova serenità e anche a Rafferty, la possibilità di una nuova vita. 

Lui mi passò un pollice freddo sullo zigomo. «È quasi finita. E io sono qui.» «Lo so. So che ci sei.» Com’era possibile che fosse Rafferty Moon a volermi confortare?

E' passato del tempo da quando entrambi sono tornati in città, ma per quanto Arabella sia ora una donna adulta e professionalmente realizzata, nella profondità del suo animo, ancora si dibattono ombre difficili da estirpare, strascichi di un passato nel quale ha subito un trauma che a sua volta, ha generato una cascata di effetti collaterali, che l'hanno indotta a vivere in un limbo di dolore, paura, tristezza e rabbia,  che ancora fa male e che la lega a quel passato che non riesce a dimenticare. Interiormente e per molti aspetti, è ancora quella ragazzina di un tempo, infelice, impacciata e timida, che crede a quelle bugie che interpreta come verità. Ma per fortuna la famiglia Moon esiste ed esiste anche un dottore affascinante e comprensivo che saprà aiutarla nel suo percorso di rinascita. 

Se i bulli fossero coscienti della persistenza delle loro parole, sarebbero più o meno propensi a continuare a tormentare le loro vittime? 

Al contrario invece, non è rimasto nulla del Rafferty ragazzino, quella versione arrogante e ambiziosa, che gioiva dei suoi successi e che era talmente cieco da considerare la sua compagna di scuola, unicamente come una spina nel fianco e un ostacolo da superare! Quella parte si è dissolta, per lasciare spazio ad un uomo sensibile, attento e protettivo, che finalmente riesce a comprendere la ragione per la quale Thad e Soren, quando erano bambini stravedevano per Arabella, che consideravano tanto simpatica e graziosa! E’ cambiato tutto, hanno aperto entrambi gli occhi e il cuore e ora sono in balia di emozioni insolite, palpiti del cuore inaspettati e sentimenti improvvisi che li coglieranno alla sprovvista, potenti, forti e completamente ingestibili. Saranno pronti ad accogliere questi nuovi sentimenti?

Mi si strinse di nuovo il cuore. Era possibile che mi fossi ammorbidito nei confronti della signorina Collins dopo tutti questi anni? Cercai di recuperare un po’ della vecchia ostilità, ma il pozzo sembrava asciutto.

Una storia d’amore che risulta un po’ offuscata da tutto ciò che a mano a mano, prende il sopravvento, mentre il bel sentimento tra i protagonisti nasce improvviso, spontaneo e già ben definito, pertanto manca un po’ quella parte di contrasti e batticuore, che fomenta    quell’attesa che precede l’innamoramento vero e proprio. Avviene tutto in modo semplice, consequenziale e senza intoppi o scossoni. La figura di Rafferty appare poco approfondita, anche se di lui ho apprezzato l’affettuosità, la galanteria e la capacità di sostenere Arabella, attraverso il  suo percorso di rinascita che di fatto,  diventa la traccia principale e il vero punto focale della storia.

Una trama che lascia molto spazio a temi sensibili  raccontati dall’autrice con garbo, semplicità e in maniera attenta. Il modo migliore per  tramettere messaggi importanti e offrire  utili spunti  di riflessione. Anche in questo volume lo stile narrativo di Tess Thomson risulta fluente, elegante e coinvolgente, capace di far venire i brividi e spalancare il cuore.  Trova nella traduzione il giusto risalto e spessore, grazie alla capacità di Isabella Nanni,  di accompagnare ed esaltare l’intenzionalità descrittiva ed emotiva  dell’autrice. 

«La mia famiglia non sarà perfetta, ma sappiamo come amare. E io farei qualsiasi cosa per te. Non devi fare altro che chiedere.» «Mi baci? Adesso. Oggi.»

Temi che diventano i motori di una trama che si articola passando attraverso momenti drammatici, che inabissandosi nel profondo, scandagliano le ragioni e le conseguenze di comportamenti dalla valenza oscura e malata, per poi, come contrasto, illuminarsi e abbracciare la bellezza e la luminosità emanata dai componenti della famiglia Moon, che hanno fatto dell’amore e della comprensione i valori fondanti sui quali basare la loro famiglia e i legami che li uniscono saldamente gli uni agli altri e con il resto della comunità, parte integrante di ogni storia. Stella e i suoi figli, hanno avuto la fortuna di incontrare Jasper, il personaggio che ho amato al di sopra di ogni altro! Un uomo saggio, generoso e amorevole, che è riuscito a conquistare i piccoli Moon con le giuste attenzioni e le parole più adatte, per educarli e spronarli a dare il meglio, per seguire le rispettive inclinazioni, e quei i valori per lui fondamentali, che hanno dato il giusto significato a ogni suo gesto e a ogni suo amorevole intervento. Un papà ideale, l'uomo perfetto per Stella,  due genitori che tutti avremmo voluto avere nella nostra vita! Sono stati l'esempio e al contempo gli artefici di ogni  cambiamento, in quanto l’amore va donato e mai trattenuto, in quanto è una forza prorompente che produce un'onda benefica, che investe sia chi lo riceve, ma anche chi lo elargisce.   

«Se ti do il mio cuore, lo terrai al sicuro?» «Lo terrei stretto al mio e ti amerei come papà ama la mamma. Al di sopra di tutto. Alla follia. E tu terrai al sicuro il mio cuore?» «Sarà il più grande onore della mia vita avere il tuo cuore nelle mie mani.»

Una lettura che parla delle mille sfaccettature dell'amore e che ogni volta mi sa conquistare!  Un romanzo che diventa un Meme, per ricordare a ognuno di noi, qual è il vero senso della vita, soprattutto quando diventa alto, il rischio di perdersi dietro a falsi bisogni e alle eccessive ambizioni.  Siamo un po' tutti come tanti Rafferty e le varie Arabella, soggetti alla competizione, che spesso induce a dimenticarsi di guardare oltre, per accorgersi dell’essenziale e di quello che vale davvero, con il rischio di sprecare il nostro tempo, anziché usarlo per godere degli altri, della bellezza della vita e dell’amore delle persone che abbiamo accanto. Il dottor Rafferty Moon, terzo di cinque fratelli, visita periodicamente il signor Collins presso la sua abitazione, poiché quest'ultimo è affetto da demenza senile. Lì incontra sua figlia, Arabella, sua ex compagna di scuola e acerrima nemica negli studi. Un momento di distrazione per controllare la caldaia causa la scomparsa del padre di Arabella, perciò i due giovani iniziano subito a cercarlo. Colpiti da una forte tempesta di neve, sono costretti a rifugiarsi in un vecchio capanno in cui solitamente la ragazza si rifugia quando necessita una pausa dai maltrattamenti paterni. È lì che, costretti a collaborare, qualcosa fra i due cambia ed iniziano a riscoprirsi.

Superata la notte e ritrovato il padre di Arabella, i due ragazzi capiscono di non essere più tanto diversi e fra loro sboccia una piacevole amicizia, forse destinata ad evolversi in qualcosa di più.
Quando ho ricevuto la proposta di leggere questa storia non ho potuto che accettare subito, memore del quinto libro della serie Crescent Moon Ranch che avevo recensito poche settimane fa, il quale mi era piaciuto tantissimo. In questo libro possiamo assistere al desiderio d'amore di Rafferty, l'unico fratello Moon ancora single. Quindi anche le aspettative erano tante da parte mia e devo dire che sono state senza dubbio rispettate. La scrittura di Tess Thompson, nonostante io l'abbia appena conosciuta, rappresenta già, dal mio punto di vista, una certezza e anche questo romance si è fatto divorare. Certamente è merito anche della splendida traduzione operata da Isabella Nanni. Le descrizioni minuziose dei paesaggi e delle situazioni mi hanno completamente abbracciato ed hanno reso viva l'immaginazione delle scene narrate. E questo è lodevole se si considera che in questo libro vengono trattati temi delicati come, ad esempio, il bullismo adolescenziale, l'abbandono parentale, gli abusi fisici e verbali in famiglia e l'amore disfunzionale.

Si tratta di un romance, si, e si potrebbe dare per certo un determinato epilogo. Invece, trovo che la bravura dell'autrice stia nel fatto che la sua scrittura è così coinvolgente che, mentre si legge, non per si dà per scontato niente. Affrontare temi delicati come quelli che ho citato offre grandi stimoli di riflessione. L'intreccio è del tutto lineare, salvo sporadici flashback per comprenderere i trascorsi dei protagonisti. Per quanto riguarda i personaggi è inutile dire che mi sono affezionato sia a Rafferty che ad Arabella. Spero di trovarli in future storie. Ma vorrei segnalare anche i personaggi di Stella e Jasper Moon, i genitori di Rafferty, maggiormente approfonditi in questo sesto libro. Penso che tutti noi dovremmo avere adulti così nella nostra vita ad indicarci la via e ho provato una genuina invidia nei confronti del loro amore: quello della loro relazione e quello incondizionato verso i figli.
Lo consiglio? Assolutamente si. Tuttavia è bene suggerirlo ad un pubblico consapevole dati i temi trattati.
Per me non possono che essere 5 stelle!

Clashing Moon is the sixth, and likely the last, in the heartwarming Crescent Moon Ranch series by talented author Tess Thompson. Mama Moon introduced us to Stella and her five boys - Atticus, Caspian, Rafferty, Soren, and Thad – and the beginning of her great love with Jasper Moon. Subsequent books reunited Atticus with his childhood love Annie and saw brothers Caspian, Thad, and Soren find their forever loves with women fate brought to Crescent Ranch: Elliott, Sammie, and Finley respectively. Rafferty, the town doctor, is the last holdout. He’s too busy, he’s not interested, he’s never found the right woman, etc., etc., etc. His family has always thought there might have been some sparks beneath his long-time competition and rivalry with town vet Arabella Collins, but they would both vehemently deny even the possibility.

Arabella managed to escape from Bluefern once but now she’s back, caring for her father. He was always cruel and abusive, both verbally and physically, ridiculing her, humiliating her, demeaning her, calling her fat and useless. She was just about to open a veterinary practice with a friend when her father’s illness and dementia became so severe she felt her only choice was to come home and fulfill her duty as a daughter. Her mother left when she was very young and her father has convinced her that she was the reason, so her father is the only family she has; maybe he'll finally treat her with love. But no. If anything he’s more difficult, more unpredictable, lashing out at every effort she makes. Arabella is at wit’s end. She is doing her best as the town’s new vet, work she loves, but she’s overwhelmed with her father and the farm. And spending any time at all with her former rival-enemy Rafferty Moon isn’t on her to-do list.

Avoiding Rafferty isn’t going to be possible, though. He’s her father’s doctor and makes regular house calls. Add in a sudden storm that Arabella’s father wanders off and gets lost in, a night together snowed in in a cabin in the woods, and the slow realization by both Arabella and Rafferty that maybe they aren’t as different as they thought, and you have another tender, sweet story you can always count on author Thompson to deliver. Rafferty and Arabella stop seeing each other as merely adversaries but recognize qualities they have themselves: ambition, a desire to heal, a need for family, and tender feelings start to develop. Surprising, but not unwelcome.

Clashing Moon takes us back to Crescent Moon Ranch, reunites us with familiar, lovable characters, and focuses on two of those characters as they start on a beautiful path of finding what they didn’t even realize they were missing. As always, Thompson’s word pictures and fine people and love all around give us many hours of reading pleasure. And if that’s not enough, the last-minute surprise is amazing, wonderful and completely satisfying. I received an advance copy of Clashing Moon. I loved it and can’t wait to see what Thompson has for us next. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Un fine deliziosa per una delle mie serie del cuore.
Clashing Moon ha come protagonista Rafferty ed è l'ultimo libro della serie Crescent Moon ranch.
Vi ricordo che ogni volume è autoconclusivo.

La serie della famiglia Moon è entrata in punta di piedi nel mio cuore e ha deciso con la sua semplicità di darmi tanto.
Ogni protagonista è diverso dall'altro ma alla base di tutto c'è l'amore e la famiglia, cose per me fondamentali.

Rafferty è il medico di Bluefern, la piccola cittadina dove è nato, mentre Arabella è una veterinaria che ha deciso di tornare a Bluefern per prendersi cura di suo padre.
Rafferty e Arabella fin da bambini sono sempre stati rivali. Sempre pronti a dimostrare di essere un più bravo dell'altra e questo li ha spinti a dare sempre il massimo in tutte le cose.
Ora da adulti questa rivalità è ancora presente.
Tutto ha inizio quando Rafferty una mattina decide di passare a controllare il padre di Arabella. La malattia lo sta consumando e oltre a renderlo debole lo ha reso più cattivo. Arabella deve convivere con questo peso.
Quando però suo padre scompare, Arabella accompagnata dal nostro Rafferty escono per cercarlo. Colpiti da una tormenta di neve non possono far altro che passare la notte nella capanna in montagna.
Una notte di chiacchere sembra aprire gli occhi ai nostri due protagonisti. La rivalità si trasforma in complicità e in comprensione.
Quando il mattino dopo fanno l'amara scoperta. Arabella non sa come sentirsi, da un lato è sollevata ma dall'altro è estremamente sola e qui entra in gioco la famiglia Moon al completo.
Una delle mie cose preferite di questa saga è proprio lo spirito della famiglia Moon, sempre pronti ad aiutare tutti senza chiedere nulla in cambio, pronti a supportarsi e pronti a fare da "stampella" alle donne in difficoltà.
Di Clashing Moon ho apprezzato molto in modo in cui il rapporto tra Arabella e Rafferty è cambiato, da rivali a ammirarsi a vicenda ad amici per arrivare a essere una coppia.
Entrambi i protagonisti hanno un passato difficile, Rafferty ha poi trovato stabilità grazie all'arrivo di Jasper Moon ma Arabella ha sempre combattuto con contro un grande punto interrogativo. Cosa è successo davvero a sua madre?
Ebbene Arabella dovrà collegare tutti i pezzi del puzzle lasciati nella soffitta della sua fatiscente casa per scoprirlo.
Questa parte di trama mi è piaciuta molto, per tutto quello che rappresenta per la protagonista.
Ogni libro di Tess Thompson racconta una tematica importante e delicata. Quello che apprezzo di più è il suo modo delicato e mai invadente di trattare ogni tema.

Ogni fratello Moon e soprattutto Mamma Moon sono davvero entrati nel mio cuore, curando delle ferite che neanche io sapevo di avere. Ho amato ogni ambientazione e ogni storia di questa serie.
Voglio ancora una volta ringraziare dal profondo del mio cuore Isabella per avermi proposto e avermi fatto conoscere questa saga.

This is Rafferty and Arabella's story. Rafferty came back to Bluefern taking over the retiring doctor's practice. We see a lot about him in his brothers' books. Arabella left Bluefern to go to college with no plans to ever return. She studied to become a vet and planned to open a practice with 2 of her friends from college in a big city but her father got sick so she came home to take care of him. She takes over the local vet clinic. We read about her in some of the previous books also. Rafferty and Arabella went to school together and were major rivals. They were always competing with each other trying to outdo each other. They each thought the other hated them because of this rivalry. Rafferty is Arabella's father's doctor. Arabella'a father, Mr. Collins, has dementia and its getting worse. On one particular day, he is having a really bad day and ends up hitting Arabella. Rafferty happens to stop by on his way to visit another patient to see how Mr. Collins is doing. While he's helping Arabella figure out what's wrong with the furnace, Mr. Collins wonders out of the house. Arabella and Rafferty go in search of him and a snow storm starts and there is almost no visibility. They can't find Mr. Collins. They end up in a cabin out on the Collin's property where they are stuck until the next morning. They both get to see each other in a different light. The next morning they trek back to the farm house where they find tragedy. This is the start for Arabella realizing she is more than she thought and her father was an abuser. Rafferty wanted nothing more than to spend time with her. This is a another great Moon family story with so much heart and love. I love that the author included a last chapter that pretty much wrapped up where each of the 5 boys family situations were as well as mom and pops Moon. I highly recommend this whole series

Ultimo volume della famiglia Moon ambientato in Montana, dedicato a Rafferty il figlio medico, quello centrale die fratelli.
Per chi sta leggendo la serie, sa che di lui abbiamo visto l’affidabilità e determinazione nel raggiungere la sua professione di medico, ma anche l’attaccamento alla sua terra, che lo ha spinto al ritorno a Bluefern e rilevare lo studio medico della città.
La sua determinazione, da ragazzo, lo aveva portato a competere e scontrarsi con Arabella Collins, che a sua volta è diventata con grandissimi sacrifici un’apprezzata veterinaria.
La vita di lei è stata diversissima, non ha avuto una famiglia che la sostenesse, una madre affettuosa, anzi: il suo ritorno nel Montana è stato obbligato per la malattia del padre, che l’ha sempre mortificata, offesa e ora di violenze dovute alla demenza senile.
Proprio in occasione di una visita medica per suo padre, le cose con Rafferty prenderanno una piega diversa.

«Dopo le ultime ventiquattro ore, il nostro rapporto si era trasformato in una comprensione più profonda. Trascorrere del tempo insieme, aveva creato un legame. O almeno questa era la sensazione che avevo io. Per questo motivo, ero incerto su cosa fare dopo.»

Con l’aiuto di Rafferty, l’affetto e il sostegno di tutta la famiglia Moon, Arabella riesce a cancellare i giudizi beffardi e crudeli che si porta dentro da tutta la vita; il ritrovamento delle lettere di sua madre porteranno a termine la sua rinascita di donna e persona.
I colpi di scena di questo volume passano in secondo piano, rispetto la parte che tocca tutto il ricongiungimento di Arabella con sua madre, rimettendo insieme tutte la parti della vita di una donna molto sola.
Il finale corale chiude in modo completo e scorrevole una bella serie, nel bellissimo Montana.

Arabella ha sempre desiderato di lasciare la sua città, soprattutto per allontanarsi dal padre violento, ma il destino ha altro in serbo per lei.
Dopo la sua laurea in veterinaria, Arabella si vede costretta a ritornare a Bluefern per prendersi cura del padre, affetto da demenza.
Il suo ritorno in città la porta a rincontrare Rafferty Moon, il suo rivale da sempre in tutto e per tutto. I due hanno sempre gareggiato l'uno contro l'altra per essere i primi della classe.
Lei farà del suo meglio per evitarlo, ma le risulterà impossibile visto che è proprio lui il medico della città che ha in cura suo padre, mentre lei, essendo veterinaria, si trova spesso al ranch della sua famiglia.
Galeotta fu una tempesta di neve improvvisa, che li vide intrappolati in una casetta in mezzo al nulla. La loro vita cambierà radicalmente, portandoli a capire che quello che c'è sempre stato tra loro non era rivalità, ma un sentimento ben più profondo.
Insieme affronteranno i traumi del passato per poi abbracciare il presente.
La lettura è stata scorrevole e coinvolgente. L'autrice ha trattato dei temi riguardanti la famiglia in modo molto delicato, tanto che durante la lettura è stato impossibile trattenere le lacrime: la storia di Arabella mi ha devastato!
Con Rafferty si chiude la Serie "Crescent Moon ranch". Anche in questo ultimo romanzo l'autrice è riuscita, tramite le descrizioni ben dettagliate, a portarmi nell'atmosfera del Montana, in mezzo a panorami mozzafiato.
La famiglia Moon è entrata nel mio cuore, e per questo salutarli è stato davvero difficile. Mi mancheranno, e soprattutto mi mancherà quell'amore familiare puro e sincero.
Una lettura intensa da non perdere, dove Tess Thompson non vi deluderà...potete starne certi!

È il primo romanzo che leggo della Thompson e devo ammettere che la sua scrittura mi ha rapida ,come anche i due protagonisti.

𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 è il libro che chiude la serie Crescent Moon Ranch,che ci ha fatto conoscere Stella e i suoi cinque ragazzi, Atticus,Caspian,Soren,Than e ora Rafferty.

Mentre i suoi fratelli hanno già trovato l’amore ,Rafferty medico della cittadina di Bluefern,è troppo impegnato e non ha tempo di cercare la donna della sua vita ,finché il destino non gli mette difronte la sua nemesi.

Arabella Collins,è scappata da Bluefern, dal ranch e da un padre troppo severo ,crudele d violento.
Aveva promesso di non metterci più piede ma la mattina del padre la costringe a tornare.
Divenuta veterinario si divide tra la fattoria e il veloce progredire della malattia, tutto immagina tranne trascorrere del tempo con il suo nemico fin dai tempi della scuola ,nonché medico del padre.

Una tempesta di nevica obbliga Arabella e Rafferty a trascorrere una notte insieme al capanno nel bosco e tra cibo in scatola, vino, patatine e vodka avranno modo di conoscersi e comprendere che la linea che divide odio e amore è così sottile da non vederne i confini.

𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 è un viaggio di rinascita e seconde possibilità.

La famiglia Moon si dimostrerà ancora una volta un punto fermo per i suoi figli, mamma Stella e papà Jasper sono unici.

La Thompson dimostra anche stavolta il suo talento creando storie sempre nuove ed emozionanti.
La sua scrittura ci trasporta tra le pagine della storia,facendoci vivere le atmosfere del Montana,tra panorami mozzafiato e personaggi ben caratterizzati,

Se amate gli small town dove la comunità e gli affetti familiari hanno un ruolo importante,allora vi consiglio di recuperare la serie.

Nuovo capitolo della saga familiare della famiglia Moon. Questo è il secondo che leggo e anche se non conosco gli altri 4 precedenti non ho avuto problemi nel seguire la storia che é autoconclusiva.

Arabella e Rafferty, nemici dai tempi del liceo, sempre in competizione per chi dovesse essere il migliore.
Si ritrovano dopo anni nuovamente a Blufern, lei come veterinario e lui come medico.
Arabella è costretta a tornare per prendersi cura del padre malato e indoviniamo un po' chi è il suo medico…
Complice una tempesta di neve molto violenta si ritrovano per 24 ore in una piccola baita.
Qui sono “costretti” a parlare e capiscono che forse la loro rivalitá era in verità ammirazione.

Cit 📖 A volte la gelosia aveva offuscato la mia percezione e mi aveva convinto che fosse irritante quando, in realtà, nel profondo, la ammiravo.

♀️ Arabella una donna dall'infanzia difficile. Abbandonata dalla madre e costretta a vivere con un padre violento
Ma le cose presto cambieranno e gli eventi la porteranno a scoprire la verità.
♂️Rafferty, anche lui ha avuto un' infanzia difficile, ma ha potuto conoscere l'amore grazie al suo patrigno che si é preso cura di lui ed i suoi fratelli.

Come nel volume su Soren (scorri i post troverai la recensione) possiamo nuovamente trovare l'amore incondizionato della famiglia Moon
Cit 📖Se possiamo mostrarle cosa significa essere in una famiglia amorevole e sapere che ha sempre un posto morbido dove atterrare qui a casa nostra, allora lo faremo.

Un romanzo che insegna ad andare oltre le apparenze e ci fa capire che non sempre le cose sono come le vediamo, ma occorre scavare per trovare la verità.

This is the sixth book in the series and Rafferty finally gets his story. We've seen him support his brothers while denying any interest in marriage and family himself. But Rafferty is starting to change his mind. As a teenager he competed academically with Arabella, who has returned to care for her father, and they are still clashing because she refuses to accept his medical advice about his care. A sudden blizzard traps Rafferty and Arabella, leaving her father lost and alone.
This forced proximity story is believable and doesn’t feel contrived. The questions about her father's fate hangs over their time together and contributes to seriousness of their discussions. When they return, the focus turns to Arabella, and her needs and choices, and how the Moon family supports her.
This story is well written, occasionally moving me to tears. While it is a standalone, I believe that it would be most enjoyable to read as part of the series. In previous books we saw their discussions about her father's treatment, including their frustration with each other. Since I read this story knowing all the background, I believe that made this book more enjoyable. The first book in the series, Mama Moon, is often available for free or low cost. I highly recommend that book for it's storyline, characters, and quality writing, and the introduction of SLURFPIG. Buy Clashing Moon now, so you can read it after you read Mama Moon. I enjoyed every book in the series.

Si può flirtare con il "nemico"? Durante una tempesta di neve, forse!

Una storia che arriva al cuore dei lettori, passando prima per la mente: sono molteplici, infatti, gli argomenti trattati e che offrono spunti di riflessione. Vi invito calorosamente a leggere "Clashing Moon: Rafferty".
Pregiudizi, stereotipi e mentalità contorte conferiscono alla storia profondità, mischiandosi anche con tanto amore familiare e premurosità che faranno sciogliere i lettori come neve al sole.

Nella vita ci sono persone che sono di ispirazione e persone che, invece, ispirano a non essere come loro. Le ultime, senza saperlo, sono comunque d'aiuto per focalizzarsi su come davvero si vuole essere.

Un libro che mi è piaciuto molto. Ho sorriso, ho pianto e mi sono commossa nelle scene che parlano della madre di Arabella.
Mi sono fermata a riflettere su quanto, nonostante si provi a sensibilizzare le persone su determinati argomenti, essi siano comunque ancora attuali - esempio: il body shaming.

In sintesi: i luoghi sono descritti senza annoiare i lettori, anzi sono suggestivi.
I personaggi sono ben descritti e hanno davvero tanta profondità.
I temi trattati non sono banali e non sono stati affrontati in maniera superficiale.

Clashing Moon: Rafferty è il libro che chiude l’emozionante serie Crescent Moon Ranch che ci racconta la storia della famiglia Moon. Arabella e Rafferty si conoscono dai tempi del liceo dove hanno sempre fatto a gara per chi fosse il migliore. Quando si ritrovano a Bluefern, Rafferty ricopre il ruolo di medico della cittadina mentre Arabella, brillante veterinaria, è costretta a farvi ritorno per poter assistere il padre ammalato. Complice una tempesta di neve i due troveranno il loro punto di equilibrio. Questa è una storia di rinascita e seconde possibilità, Arabella troverà il suo riscatto da un passato doloroso che l’ha segnata nel profondo mentre Rafferty troverà finalmente la strada per conquistare quella felicità a cui tanto aspira. Due caratteri opposti che si attraggono e si respingono dando vita ad una trama appassionante, intrigante e ricca di suspense. Una trama coinvolgente e ben strutturata che tratta temi importanti dedicati all’ambito famigliare. Stupende come sempre le ambientazioni che ci proiettano nella magica atmosfera del Montana. Lo stile narrativo è fluido e ben impostato. I dialoghi s’intrecciano bene con la parte narrata e la lettura risulta scorrevole. Complimenti come sempre a Isabella Nanni per l’impeccabile traduzione.

Rafferty e Arabella sono sempre stati rivali: competevano per avere i voti migliori a scuola e i migliori risultati. Ora Rafferty è diventato un dottore ed è tornato a Bluefern per aprire il suo studio e stare vicino alla famiglia, che gestisce un ranch per turisti.
Arabella è diventata un veterinario ed è tornata in città per assistere il padre affetto da demenza.

I due continuano a scontrarsi, ma forse sotto tutto questo astio c'è una forte attrazione che li unisce?

Ultimo fratello Moon da accasare e devo dire che era quello che mi faceva un po' dubitare. Nei libri precedenti troppe volte aveva trattato male Arabella ed era stato inopportuno in diverse situazioni.
Avevo paura di finire la serie in malo modo con un protagonista odioso.
E invece mi sono ricreduta: la storia di Arabella è commovente e poverina, ne ha passate tante.
Rafferty per fortuna apre gli occhi e diventa un perfetto compagno.
Mi è piaciuto molto alla fine ritrovare tutta i fratelli Moon e le loro compagne e vedere i sviluppi della loro vita. Bello anche ritrovare i genitori, in particolar modo Jasper.
Si è chiuso un cerchio: serie non spicy ma concentrata sui sentimenti e sulla famiglia.
Consigliata.

I absolutely loved this book, except I wish it was longer. Rafferty and Arabella have been in each other's lives since they were in school and they were competing to be the best at everything. They both moved away to the big city and are now back. I liked how they had similar jobs and you feel the tension between them. Even though they were both adamant that they hated each other, it always felt less like hate and more like admiration (even if they wouldn't admit it).

When Rafferty goes to her house to check on her father, their lives change forever. The honest conversations they have and the closeness they experience helps them realize maybe they have been fighting the inevitable all the long. Her father is a horrible person, which makes the story so much sweeter in the end. Arabella always envied the familial relationship he had, because it was always just her and her dad.

The support and love they show each other, without even trying, was amazing. I love this book, and the entire series. Slurfpig rules. The surprise she gets in this book was a wonderful bonus. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Ed eccomi arrivata alla fine della serie dedicata alla famiglia Moon, con il dottor Rafferty.
Tutti i suoi fratelli si sono accasati e lui inizia a sentirsi un po' indietro, desiderando anche lui quello che hanno trovato i suoi fratelli. Ma da quando è tornato a Bluefern rilevando lo studio medico locale, le occasioni scarseggiano.
Nel Montana è tornata anche la sua rivale storica dei tempi della scuola, Arabella Collins, diventata veterinaria e tornata a casa per accudire il padre malato di demenza.
I due continuano a scontrarsi ma, complice una notte passata in un capanno isolato dalla neve, iniziano a guardarsi con occhi diversi. O semplicemente a capire che sotto la competizione c'è sempre stata ammirazione e qualcosa di più.

Una storia che si sviluppa dolcemente, senza scossoni e senza dramma. L'unica persona che poteva frapporsi tra i due si leva via dai piedi da sola e abbastanza in fretta e alla fine si ricompone la famiglia del mulino bianco. Ok, carino, ma avrei voluto un po' più di azione o qualche problema. Invece pure la madre sembra una santa alla fine.
Serie carina ma che non lascia personaggi memorabili.

For those who have read and loved the first 5 books in this wonderful Crescent Moon Ranch series, this final book with main character Rafferty will not be a surprise. Rafferty was the hard working scholar of all the boys, competing throughout school with his nemesis Arabella for every top prize. Rafferty becomes a doctor, but tired of the big city hospital where he works, he buys a medical practice in Bluefern, coming home to his beloved family. Arabella did not have a happy childhood & can’t wait to leave Bluefern, heading off to college & becoming a veterinarian. But when her Dad gets dementia, she is forced to come back home & take care of him…..only to find out that his doctor is none other than Rafferty Moon. When a heavier than predicted snowstorm brings them together in a crisis situation, they are forced to reflect on their true feelings for each other. Maybe their fierce competitiveness will lead to something else entirely. Another sweet love story and perfect ending to this series.

Arabella and Rafferty were in high school together, competing against each other to be the smartest. They left town to attend school. Arabella returns as the veterinarian and Rafferty returns as the new doctor in town. But after they are trapped in a cabin in a snow storm, can their relationship change. A wonderful story of a woman trying to help the man who abused her during her childhood and even now that she is back caring for him. His dementia is worsening and so is his memory. When Arabella begins to try to clean out the attic of the house, she finds a box of items related to her mother, that she never knew since she had been forced to leave when Arabella was three. Included were birthday cards from her mother for her birthdays until she was 18. But she had never seen them. Reading these caused her to rethink her feelings for her mother. This is such a touching story. You can only feel sad for Arabella but also glad that she had Rafferty to help her through. Another great Moon story.

Arabella Collins is the new vet , moved back to Bluefern to take care of her father. Rafferty Moon is the town’s doctor and the two go way back in the competitive stakes. Always love to hate but after a snowstorm traps them in ,she sees a new side to him. She sees him in a new light after one night…. There’s definitely chemistry between them that arcs off the page. He sees her warmth and the resilient nature and she’s him more of a person to nurture than leave well alone . What a way to spend a snowstorm. Enemies clash in the most delightful way and this encounter doesn’t end in dismay. Far removed in fact. There’s no losing control ,just a simple pact. They can stand to be in the same room ! When’s the honeymoon? Well yes I suppose it’s too soon but they got together quick ,it was slick after a snowdrift if you get my drift. So cute and charming if not a little disarming in the heart stakes . What a handsome couple these two makes. Brilliant writing and great storytelling too

Clashing Moon is such a sweet read. I loved this so much. Arabella and Rafferty will take your heart. This is a sweet romance of former highschool rivals reconnecting in a snow storm. Arabella is back in town trying to take care of her father and run her veterinary business. Rafferty is the town doctor and the last of the Moon men to find his match. I love the chemistry and banter between Rafferty and Arabella as they get to know each other as adults. They just fit. I love how the whole Moon family rallies around Arabella when she needs it the most. I love how Rafferty is there for Arabella as she learns the truth about her mother. This is a sweet read of letting go, reconnecting and finding family. Arabella and Rafferty are amazing together. I love the Moon family so much. You need to one click this today.

Finally Rafferty gets his happy ending. I’ve been waiting for this since he was first introduced in the series.

As always, the characters shine in Clashing Moon. Despite how many books Tess Thompson has written, all of her characters are very unique. Arabella, the female lead of this story, deals with a lot in Clashing Moon - abuse, life threatening circumstances, and tragedy. Rafferty, her old nemesis from their school days, ends up getting involved and helping her through her journey. New connections are made and what starts out as a pretty dark and tragic story ends with hope and happiness.

All of our favorite characters from the previous books are in this one, and it’s always great to see updates on them. Otherwise, there was too much religion in it for me, but that’s just my personal opinion.

I can’t wait for Tess Thompson’s next book!

A snowstorm leads to unexpected answers to lifelong questions
Academic competitors, Arabella and Rafferty, find an unexpected bond during Montana’s worst winter snowstorm when they are stranded in Arabella’s childhood hideaway cabin. Although tragedy awaits on their return to the ranch house, it is soon followed by the best news Arabella could ever have hoped for.
Rafferty Moon is the only Moon brother not yet married and, despite being envious of the happiness he witnesses among his brothers, he remains content to be the single town doctor of Bluefern.
Tess Thompson continues to draw her readers into the lives of the Moon family and their neighbours, giving hope for resolution to what appears to be insurmountable heartache. I received an ARC of this sensitive and inspiring novel in the Crescent Moon series and share my opinion voluntarily.

Wonderful Story

This was a story that I was so excited to read. Arabella and Rafferty were rivals throughout their school years. Both were very competitive, wanting to be the best, the top student, and they disliked each other.
As adults, they were civil, for the most part. Rafferty was the town doctor and Arabella was the town veterinarian.
This story was so riveting. Arabella and Rafferty tolerated each other, Arabella needed to interact with Rafferty because her father had dementia. She was back home, after escaping his abuse, to take care of him.
There is so much that happens in this story that I was glued to it and would forget other things, like going to bed. It's that good.
The characters are like neighbors you know, the storyline was amazing. This is such a great story.

Arabella’s home life while she was growing up had her wanting to leave town as soon as she was able to pursue her dream of being a vet. She had created a new life for herself however she finds herself returning to be there for her father, but it also forces her to cross paths with her nemesis from high school, Rafferty.

Rafferty has recently returned to his hometown to be close to his family and the lifestyle he enjoys. He is the town doctor and one of his patients is Arabella’s father. At the first the animosity they had for each other as teenagers is stronger than ever but between spending time together and some forced proximity, they learn a lot about each other and their feelings.

The romance between them is heartwarming and I enjoyed seeing them open themselves up to each other and for Arabella to find the support that she didn’t have growing up.

Rafferty finally gets his love story. He has been so happy for his brothers in their jourmeys to the alter, with no outward interest in a marriage journey of his own. Arabella, has always been Rafferty's academic nemesis, but he also finds her unsettling and attractive. He comes to the ranch to check on her and her father, who has dementia, and winds up snowed in the Arabella while her father is lost in the snowstorm. The gravity of the situation leads them to self evaluation and serious discussion about their perceptions of one another and also allows them the space to acknowledge feelings that help them to see the looming tragedy as perhaps also a new beginning. Rafferty is the only one of the five brothers that hasn't found the perfect woman for him. He's been a practicing physician and returned to Bluefern after purchasing the medical practice. He's happy to be back home near his family. Arabella has returned to take care of her father as he's been diagnosed with dementia. She's a veterinarian and is building a clientele. They were in high school together and very competitive for being the top students in their class. Rafferty drove out to Arabella's ranch to check on her dad as they haven't been in for awhile. There's a snowstorm approaching and her dad had left the house without her noticing. She and Rafferty go out to look for him as the snow really starts coming down. Will they reacquaint themselves and change their past beggar behavior. A sweet story.

Arabella has struggled all of her life. Her father was abusive and her mother left her when she was only three. Her academic determination made her compete against Rafferty. She was all set to join a veteran's office, but had to come home to care for her father.
When the sudden snow storn hit, Rafferty, who was her father's doctor, was at their home to check on him. They left him alone for a few minutes and he disappeared. In their attempt to find him, they were trapped overnight in a cabin. They found her father had died in the storm. Rafferty's kindness to her throughout the entire ordeal drew them to the realization that they didn't hate each other - quite the opposite.
