Neon Nightmares

Rate this book
Nine years ago I was beaten to a pulp, left for dead and imprisoned for a murder I didn't commit. When I got out, I took one hell of a road trip for revenge, spurred by a rock-hard grudge and a thirst for blood.

But revenge wasn't enough. What started as a hunt to kill a pair of vampires turned into a mission to kill them all.

Super-serum hot sauce, two haunted revolvers, a Texan gunslinger, the Mexican Murder Machine, vampire strippers, a skin-wearing serial killer, monsters, mayhem, bullets and blood.

"The room filled with light, and the sight of blood splattered all over the wall to my right caught me off guard, even though I could smell blood and death from outside. The words ‘SEE YOU IN HELL’ had been smeared across the wall."

💭Isaac Nightingale or simply 'Night' is a supernatural bounty hunter. Together with his bad ass squad, they team up with the Neon Nightmares duo, Leon and Adrian, to find and vanquish the Vamp King called Dominus Atrocitas.
If you are looking for something batshit crazy, balls-deep in carnage, brutal brawls and bloodbath - then look no further!
I absolutely love everything about this book from the cool cover art (some say it looks like Animé), 80s retro vibes from VHS movies to video games nostalgia, the humour, the story, characters and accompanying soundtrack for that extra cinematic experience.
Much better to read B-movie Bloodbath first as this contains major spoilers. There's also a hint for book #3 and I'm excited for it.

Big thanks to the publisher, Booksirens for the arc. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.🖤

I have already declared my love for B-Movie Bloodbath and now it is time to do the same for the highly-anticipated sequel: Neon Nightmares. This book is phenomenal.

First of all, I want to congratulate the author, Isaac Nightingale, on another awesome book. I can't imagine the difficulty associated with creating a series, but the writing in Neon Nightmares shows Nightingale has an incredible talent - he absolutely nailed this. I'm normally not a big fan of sequels since they rarely - if ever - hold the same excitement as the first book, but Neon Nightmares not only brings the same level of excitement and anticipation, but actually gives you MORE. More action, more humour, more loveable characters and more monster mayhem. Oh yeah, and more music because this one has a soundtrack too!!

As much as I thoroughly enjoyed the action and overall story, the characters are the best part for me. I have never before come across a more wonderful bunch of characters. They're so well written that you can't help but form an attachment to them and feel absolutely heartbroken when you lose one of the group. Don’t say ‘David Flowers’, I've sobbed enough.

The story is action-packed. To the point that the few moments of downtime that the characters have, it felt like they were created to give the reader a moment to relax too, and I took it. I was exhausted in the best possible way. It's such a well-written and immersive story that it feels like you're on each leg of the adventure with the characters.

Once again, Nightingale has given us a truly fantastic experience. Not just a story, an experience. And all I can say now is: I'm ready to go to Hell! 😎

Synopsis: After a whirlwind of an adventure in B-Movie Bloodbath, Isaac Nightingale and his mentor are thrust into more action-packed missions, more monster huntings and more kick ass fight scenes in this second novel. With a new target in their sights, Tex, Night, and their gang of merry monsters are in for the fight of their lives, literally. With a prophecy they can not ignore, they are forced to come face to face with more teeth than they ever imagined.

Review: I know my Synopsis are always very vague, but I never like giving everything away in a book. Haha. Anyway, I have to say, I absolutely LOVED this book. I thought there was no way things could get even more crazy than the first book, but boy, was I proven wrong. There is so much more action, new monsters, new friends, and just so much more of everything you could ever want in this book. The number of times my jaw dropped or that I completely burst with laughter was absolutely ridiculous. Everyone who was around me when I read this book could tell that I was completely captivated. Nightingale had me gripped tight until the very end and then I was VERY angry and excited to learn that there would be ANOTHER amazing adventure of a novel to come. The thought of waiting absolutely kills me, but I am so excited for that time to come. Another 5 stars. If you have not read B-Movie, please do yourself a favor and pick it up asap. Neon Nightmares Will officially release tomorrow, 12/10.

This is the sequel to B-Movie Bloodbath so you definitely want to read that one first! I was absolutely obsessed with it so knew I had to read part two immediately. There was a hint at a part three at the end and I am so ready for it.

We get to go on more adventures with some of the original cast of characters. Plus, lots of new fun characters join the monster squad to hunt down even more scary villains. I love the diversity within the group and how everyone has their quirks and strengths.

I’ve grown so attached to these characters and feel like I’ve been on all of these adventures right alongside them. This book had me on the edge of my seat so many times. I really thought it couldn’t get any more wild than the last book. I was mistaken!

The author did an excellent job carrying on with the plot and tying everything together. This was thrilling, action-packed, and unpredictable. I freaking loved it! All the 80’s vibes were there with lots of neon, video games, VHS movies, and an amazing soundtrack. I can’t get enough of this quirky group of misfits! Highly recommend!

After having read B-Movie Bloodbath, I thought “well that was crazy, it can’t get more crazy.” Well, I’m here to tell you that it did for the sequel lol imagine the fight scenes in The Avengers, only more insane, more intense and bloody as fuck. I loved it and cannot wait to read book 3. Thank you so much to Isaac for sending me an ARC. This one publishes December 10, 2024.

Yes, I've finished it already!!! Believe me when I say when I saw this appear on my Kindle I was shaking. I almost threw up. You don't understand.
I started reading ASAP and the shaking did. Not. Stop. This story is pure, insane adrenaline, turned up to eleven. I got dry mouth. I got the sweats. In the final chapters I thought I was having palpitations 😳
Nightingale has knocked it into orbit and almost put me in the ER.

On to the story...
If you've read B-Movie Bloodbath, you'll be pleased to know this one continues where that left off.
Without going into spoilers, this one builds on the first book and makes it bigger! In Nightingales own words, it's "more of everything". And boy oh boy was he telling the truth. This is a ride! I don't know how else to put it, but "more" is perfect, especially in terms of how wild it is👌
We meet some new characters and a whole range of new monsters and villains all while seeing "more" of the characters. Night especially.
In the first book he's a cocky, sarcastic, gung-ho kind of guy, and yes, he is of course still the guns blazing ass kicker he's always been, but this time around we get a better view into his more vulnerable side. We get more of an insight into his rage, his pain, and the trauma of his past. It's a welcome addition that makes you love and feel for him all the more. He's still got that attitude and always has a quip up his sleeve, but he's more developed, a little more level headed, and just seems more true to himself. Of course, Tex is back, and I loved to see it. He may have only been in the last quarter of B-Movie but he became a fast fave and he's here throughout!

Honestly there's not much I can say that wouldn't be a spoiler because like the first book, this has everything and it has a lot to say. There's bits that'll have your heart in your throat, bits that'll have you laughing out loud, bits that'll make you gag and bits that will punch you right in the gut.

Every now and again you find a writer and you just know you'll read everything they create. This is him, for me. Don't sleep on this and stop sleeping on B-Movie Bloodbath! This series 👏needs👏 to go worldwide, this 👏needs👏 to be huge because I need a tv show or some movies made out of these books. They're screaming to be put on screen and I'm screaming for them.
Oh! And don't forget about the soundtrack. It's hit after hit and really gives it the extra cinematic feel. Some of the choices were hilarious, and all I'm saying is... FFS, Cotton Eye Joe 😂😂

Thank you to Isaac Nightingale for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The saga of Isaac Nightingale and his friends continues where B-Movie Bloodbath ended. In Neon Nightmares we get to know a whole bunch of new characters, both villains and friends. True and loyal friends to join Isaac and Tex on their monster hunting quest. Together they’re getting caught up in insanely wild fights and straight out bloodbaths with the most whacky monsters you can imagine. 💪🏻🔥

This was such a hell of a ride and I loved it! 🥰 Isaac Nightingale, the author, is so talented. He wrote this sequel even better than part one B-Movie Bloodbath if I may say so. It’s so wonderful to get to know the main characters in a more vulnerable way, where they feel as your own closest friends. And the fights, omg, they are action packed, filled with gore and with lots of humor, so original and really close to my heart. The use of language overall is catchy, lighthearted and funny, it was always a pleasure to pick this book up again. But I laughed out loud and I sobbed both while reading it, because I got so fond of some of the characters and where there are fights there are soldiers to fall. 💔🥺 One of my favorite characters in this particular book was Rusty. I could totally hear his accent every time he spoke and he was just so darn cute! ♥️

I’ve read this as an e-ARC but Im going to buy the physical copy too. I’m sure I will read these books more often and the covers are absolutely gorgeous, gems to the shelves!

Many, many thanks to @isaac.nightingale and @booksirens for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest opinion. 🙌🏼💗

Thanks to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review 🥰.

This sequel was absolute fire. I'm obsessed with this series! The characters are so well-developed, unique, and loveable, that I would be completely invested even if the plot wasn't extremely fun and well-thought out.

Neon Nightmares picks up where B-Movie Bloodbath left off, where our superhuman Isaac Nightingale plans to take out this head-honcho vampire with his mentor, Tex. I was super excited to get to spend more time with the Monster Squad, along with Ali. There were also some fun new characters joining the mix as well, including the Neon Nightmares (who reminded me of Bill and Ted from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure), Ginn (who is a total badass), and Seraphina (also unique and super sweet). Once again, the action was non-stop, and yet wasn't repetitive at all, even in comparison to the first novel. It was refreshing and just as vulgar as its predecessor, which I loved and appreciated.

Some of my favorite (spoiler-free) parts included the roller disco scene (it just seemed like SO MUCH FUN) and the backstory about Lucifer, or Uncle Luke, and his entire role in the story. Both scenes stood out in my mind for different reasons.

If you love vampires, action, humor, fun chapter titles, a music playlist to listen along to while reading, and some loveable characters with tons of heart, definitely check this out (but only if you're not offended by vulgar language). I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Isaac, a massive thank you for sending me an advanced reader copy of the latest installment of the B-movie Bloodbath experience! I couldn’t be more grateful for being allowed to dive into this sequel early.

Neon Nightmares is everything a fan could hope for and more. If you haven’t read the first book I would strongly recommend you to grab a copy soon and immerse yourself in this 80s action-packed horror movie, with deliciously perverse creatures hunted by a rugged, fearless, tortured hero, and a healthy dose of dark humor with its solid soundtrack.

Reading Neon Nightmares felt like reuniting with an old friend and taking them on a wild road trip.

In the ultimate monster hunt—whether human or supernatural—a squad is formed, gaining new and awesome members along the way. Each character is rich, colorful, badass, and fearless. I love Night, but Tex completely stole my heart this time. And… Oh, the creatures! Loads of incredible critters everywhere - Isaac has such a brilliant way of crafting monsters.
The sheer intensity of it all—no rest for the wicked with the twists and turns, uncovered secrets, and epic fight scenes, all culminating in another insane showdown with the forces of evil.
I mean... Get a copy. You know you want to!

Neon Nightmares is out of the realm of my usual choices. I was initially intrigued by B-Movie Bloodbath, the first book, highly due to the cover and the vibe. The author continues with the old 80s school vintage look and feel, both inside and out, with Neon Nightmares.

I'm thrilled to have been able to read an early copy of Neon Nightmares. The story picks up right where it left off in B-Movie Bloodbath, and is wild and entertaining as the first installation! It's an easy to read, action packed ride that will sweep you away.

We continue to follow Isaac Nightingale, or Night as his friends call him. Having satisfied his need for revenge in his first adventure, he's now ready to take on the world of monsters that awaits. He doesn't have to do it alone - he's got his sidekick, Tex, a highly entertaining and likeable character.

This time around, the author adds in a colorful and diverse group of fellow monster fighting characters to help Night and Tex on their quest to kick some serious ass. If you loved the variety of supernatural monsters in the first book, you'll be even more satisfied this time around. The author is highly imaginative and has produced some real creative creatures in this one that range from gross to down right terrifying!

As much fun as this book is to read, you'll also get a ton of blood spattered gore!

If you want a crazy adventure that gets totally nuts, pick up Neon Nightmares.

This book is the tits! I loved B-Movie Bloodbath, but Neon Nightmares surpasses his debut in my humble opinion.

While the first book is clearly required reading(and also great) the sequel throws us immediately into things and the pace be pacing all the live long day.
I said this about the first book, but there are solid Supernatual(the Sam & Dean variety) vibes from this series, and book 2 really ramps that up. The set up is done and now we get to enjoy a whole book of monster hunting excitement.

With a lot of time spend working towards their goal, and picking up some friends along the way, we see Night and Tex really bolster their numbers as they deal with Bloodsuckers and everything else along the way.
The writing is superb, hitting all the beats for tone, pace, action, and humour. The nostalgia and obvious nods to a lot of things was also fun to enjoy along the way.

After his thirst for revenge on the vampires who killed the one he loved he is now on a mission to kill them all and any other monsters that get in his way. Pumped up on his super serum with his cursed revolvers and a gunslinger called Tex he is the hunter.

Just as fantastic as B Movie Bloodbath this is a story of magnificent characters that come into his life, some to die, some to help. I really like Night but I absolutely love Tex the older warrior training Night to take over his duty as monster hunter.

This story is relentless action with very few chances to take a breath for the reader or Night and Tex but there are some wonderful characters weaved through this book and even though it is a blood soaked journey it is such fun! Excellent storytelling!

this was a strong sequel in the B-Movie Bloodbath series, it had that element that I was looking for from the previous book. I thought it had that B-movie feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the way the this worked with the first book. It was a strong sequel in the B-Movie Bloodbath series and was the campy element that I was looking for. I was glad this series continued, it had that character development that I was looking for and were developed perfectly. Isaac Nightingale wrote this excellent and glad it was what I was hoping for from the genre and can't wait for more.

Night and his friends are back, ready to fight any new monsters and even more vampires than before.

We’re introduced to new characters, the badass Ginn, Seraphina the snake-lady and Adrian and Leon aka the Neon Nightmares 💚💜

It’s non-stop action with epic fight scenes, lots of humor and more gore and bloodbaths.

And just like the first book, B-Movie Bloodbath, there’s a great soundtrack to this one too.

Neon Nightmares picks up right where B-Movie Bloodbath left us. I had a blast reading this sequel and it packed a huge punch much like the first one. This time around we see more and new creatures, returning characters and new characters. Be sure to read the first book before picking this one up as this is a sequel. Highly recommend this series!

This is the highly anticipated follow-up to B-Movie Bloodbath! It picks up about 3 months after the events of B-Movie and we start off pedal to the metal right back into the action.

In this volume we gain new members of the monster squad, hoards more vampires, epic fight scenes with blood and guts galore and a pair of neon laser power-glove fighting ghosts. Throw in a deal with the devil and a literal sewer 💩 monster and you’ve got another wild ride through an 80s B-movie horror movie!

I ten out of ten recommend. If you haven’t read B-Movie Bloodbath yet definitely pick that one up first! You won’t regret it!

This book cracks eggs in a cast iron skillet filled with sizzling bacon grease.

This book hikes up a pair of Wranglers and steel-toe boots to prepare for a hard day’s work.

This book grits its teeth while disinfecting its blisters with vodka.

This book is absolute mayhem.

Neon Nightmares is the follow up to B-Movie Bloodbath, a gore-soaked revenge tale that ends with the promise of more wild adventures with Isaac Nightingale and Tex, vampire hunters. Does the sequel deliver?

Yes!

This is action-horror at its finest, playing out like a monster-of-the-week series akin to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files. Along the way, we assemble a crew of lovable misfits who all prove more than capable of squaring off against the wild supernatural creations the author throws their way.

The plot leads to a breakneck finale that’s a cross between From Dusk Till Dawn, The Fast and the Furious, and Return of the King, with a flurry of bullets, blades, lasers, teeth, and gore.

If you enjoyed the first book, I can’t imagine you’d enjoy this any less as it amps up the humor, heart, and action to higher levels. And if you haven’t read B-Movie Bloodbath, now’s a great time to catch up, because the battle this one sets up promises even more more gonzo, deep-fried, blood-soaked thrills in the most dangerous of places…
