Nick Gallows has one prevent the Apocalypse. But time is running out faster than he can imagine, and the Forebears of Ingenga are closing in. To stand a chance, Nick must venture through the rift that unleashed unspeakable horrors upon his city. On the other side, he finds an arctic wasteland crawling with monsters and a fortress under siege—the stronghold of the elusive Black Witch that has haunted his dreams. Forced to fight through hundreds of thousands of savage creatures, Nick must decide if aiding the Witch is worth the risk. Will the knowledge she holds be his salvation or his undoing?
When time weighs heavily, it's time to hit the weights in this regression LitRPG/Gamelit story of dungeon-diving, leveling, stats, and facing down the apocalypse!
This series isn't really living up to the promise of the first book. The MC goes back in time to save the world but since he isn't the strongest and probably never is going to be, he picks the trainer category. His whole mission was focused on making Maria, the woman with actual hero class the best she can be. If that is the case, then why is Maria hardly in these books.
A bit of a change in direction with this book. I feel like this plot shift has some endgame implications. The ending was a bit cliffhanger-y but the story is interesting and I’m excited to see what happens next!
Heavy on dungeon delving and fighting, light on storyline continuation.
The MC survived an unexpected and early opening of a dimensional portal but burecrats try to get in his way. Meanwhile, Malcolm the leader of the cult of Ingenga meets Nick and seems to be gently helping him to raid the portal's realm.
The story is starting to lose my interest and should soon be wrapping up. I really enjoyed the earlier installments as the MC struggled to overcome family, politics, school, leveling etc. To me, the storyline is fraying as the emphasis seems to have shifted to large scale mage battles with overwhelming advesaries, yet the MC and his guild survive while red shirts around them pay the price.
The Rift has formed and there is no way to close it. The arctic monsters will continually stream out of the Rift into the city until the apocalypse that Nick regressed from is realized. He does the only thing that he can think of. He dives through the Rift to face the monsters in their own world. There his visions have shown him that he will find the Black Witch. she may be the only hope for humanity.
I have really been enjoying this LitRPG regression series! It has added a lot to the series in this book with the addition of base building and RTS elements. The characters are still just as fun and it’s great seeing them interact. I’m looking forward to the next one! Daniel Wisniewski and Elizabeth Plant did a fantastic job with the narration!
Ending right when story is really starting! I can't wait for the next book. I hate cliffhanger but I enjoy great story telling and this is shaping up to be a pretty epic story. I appreciated the candor the MC's crew has with him in their ability/choices to speak their truths about any given situation. I think it keeps him humble. There was plenty of action. A new location and a ton of crafting. I really enjoyed this one and I'm so excited for book 7.
Very little time passes and much of it felt like one long inconsequential fight even though the last fight did matter. It just lacked the proper buildup and gravitas to make it feel like it mattered. Since literally nothing else happens in this book, it feels like this was just the 1st act of 3. Not a great story.
Pretty good continuation of the story. We see old enemies, new enemies, find some are the other, and discover new and interesting things about the system and the world in general. Overall, a pretty good fill in of details that have been steadily growing from the start. Looking forward to the next one.
This was t a terrible book but it left a lot to be desired. This is a book full of bad decisions being made by the MC. For some reason he decides to act irrationally over and over again while the author uses very thick plot armor to make it all work out.
If you like the previous books in this series, you're going to like this one. I can't really tell you anything else without giving away the whole plot past a good ending. Looking forward to the next book. That'll come after it. Hope this helps
I feel like not a lot happened overall in this book. Felt like a filler book that could have been condensed down into a quarter of it’s content to allow more actual story to take place. Also, didn’t see much character progression either. Left me feeling unfulfilled.
