Sharae Chapman is a sergeant with the Ribax Police Department who lives to uphold her squeaky clean and blemish-free image. Sharae never imagined how an instantaneous yes to hiring a new detective would rock her steady foundation.
What happens when two people with an oath to uphold the law find themselves teetering the line between conflict of interest and what feels right? Find out within the pages of this Contemporary Romance, Gavyn’s Pursuit.
Author’s Gavyn’s Pursuit is a standalone. However, it’s the third installment in the Bellamy Brothers series. Although the main characters of this novel are new, some of the supporting characters are not. Therefore, it might help to start at book one to enhance your reading experience. Also, if these characters look familiar, they were first introduced in Love’s JustifiedAudible.
I loved Gavyn and Sharae’s story. This was the best book of the series to me. Gavyn went through so much as a child with his mother. I’m glad that he found what he needed.
I knew that I wanted to read Gavyn and Sharae's story once I was introduced to the in Love's Justified Audible, I just wasn't expecting what I got. Whew chile, Gavyn was hell on wheels from beginning to end. I know I can be blunt but I've learned to have a filter. Gavyn has no filter, AT ALL!!! I laughed and shook my head at him throughout this entire book. Finding out that he was related to Nino made perfect sense lol. The love between Gavyn and Sharae was immediate and all consuming. Love at first sight could never. Sharae tried to fight it but her soul knew when it had found it's other half and she couldn't run anymore. It just goes to show you that not everyone needs to have kids. The way Danica treated Gavyn was atrocious and the Big Homie (lol) did us all a solid when she died spewing her venom on Gavyn. I loved that reconciliation and the healing that took place with Gavyn and all of the Bellamy's. Great read and I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a feel good book to read.
I loved Gavyn's pursuit. Gavyn and Sharae first appeared in loves justified audible, and since then I have been intrigued with their story. Gavyn played no games about his intentions with Sharae. His momma was just... I can't even put into words I loved the relationship he developed with his father and brothers. I could never get tired of the Bellamy brothers. I would recommend this books.
I loved the whole series but this one… wheewww this one is my favorite! I’m so happy my boy got everything God had for him ! I’ll still slap his mammy teeth down her throat.
After being introduced to Gavyn and Sharae in Love’s Justified Audible, I was intrigued and wanted their story. Their story is one of a workplace romance/forbidden romance since she’s his superior at work, but Gavyn cared nothing about that and made it a point to shoot his shot at Sharae and play for keeps once he got her. I loved the way that Gavyn felt comfortable enough with Sharae to share his demons and that she provided him a safe space to be vulnerable without judgment. I also loved the way Gavyn was obsessed with Sharae and was a little crazy behind her. Sharae provided Gavyn with a love and covering that he needed especially after having to deal with his vile mother. That lady was evil personified and I hated that she was so mean to Gavyn even on her deathbed. I’m glad Gavyn was able to heal and find a part of himself with bits father and brothers.
Now it was a surprise to me with this books rollout to learn that Gavyn was the brother to Nino and Caine Bellamy especially since there was no mention of him in either of their books, but I had faith that Riley would make the connection plain and clear and she didn’t disappoint. It was good hearing from Caine and Nino again because they definitely provide plenty of laughs along with James and Nichelle. I love how they embraced Gavyn and never made him feel like an outsider. I also loved the way James and Nichelle handled James’s brother in the epilogue.
This was a great story and I would highly recommend. 4.5/5 stars
I tried to get past the whole cop aspect but I can’t lol like I’m not into blue lives. The steam was there between the main characters but I can’t get over the occupations. Additionally I feel like public servants owe it to themselves and the public to get the mental health services they need. Gavyn mama was a B with the CAPITAL ITCH lol and he needed to seek therapy for that for sure cus it’s no reason you hearing the devil whisper to you.
As much as I loved the other books in this series, this one just didn’t do it for me. Gavyn was a walking red flag and his character irritated me quite a bit. That man needed therapy before trying to jump into a relationship. Sharae’s dilemma with her job didn’t seem to get the focus it deserved in this book. We knew it was coming but it felt rushed through. However, I did enjoy Caine, Nino and James making an appearance.
This was a painful read for me. Gavyn was overly aggressive almost abusive with Sharae. For a woman in her position I was shocked she stood for that. The whole ” Big Homie” thing was an overplay from the previous book. This book had too many sub plots with the informant and the sister. I regret I will not be recommending this book.
Baby Book 3 brought it all to a head—and I loved every second of it. The chemistry between the couples, the humor, the tension, and the sexual energy were everything I wanted. Gavin finally getting a win—not just in love, but in family too—was so satisfying. He earned that happiness, and I appreciated every step of his journey.
This was my first read/series from this author but I was hooked. It was so good that I’ve officially added her to my go-to author list.
The female narrator still didn’t win me over but the male the narrator is one of my favorites. The storyline was solid and funny enough to carry it through.
SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”): Just a quick heads-up—my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:
5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything—the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library. 4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read. 3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge—likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.
This book came up in my recommendations to continue the series and honestly I have no recollection of reading the first 2 books. Once I started reading, little things started coming back to me but after finishing the book I realized why they were sadly forgettable. They all started off well then the rest of the book was a drag.
Let me focus on this one since it’s fresh on my brain. My rating is truly a 3.5. It had so much potential to be good but I wasn’t feeling this whole “crazy” behaviour from Gavyn. It was actually concerning at one point. He clearly needed therapy with how his mother treated him and was clingy to a woman showing basic affection. I really didn’t see how Sharae fell in love with him. It felt forceful and kinda out of pity. Her changing her precinct to be with him almost had me throwing this book and giving it a 1 star rating lol.
I thought we could’ve done without the sister being a drug addict bit because it really didn’t connect with the story for me.
Overall it wasn’t a bad read but the authors style of writing isn’t one I’d pick up again personally.
After reading Loves Justified Audible, I had to know about Gavyn and Sharae. I wasn't really ready though because immediately we get Gavyn's mom in her miserable, bitter, hateful self. That woman was a menace to Gavyn until she took her last breath! I can't believe that she and Auntie A are sisters because they are nothing alike. I didn't expect for her to reveal who his dad was and once I connected that dot I knew she was lying for his whole life. She didn't want her own child so why would she want one that wasn't his because obviously Nino was the oldest. There were times throughout this book when I was right there with Sharae about Gavyn needing a check because he definitely had some loose screws. I'm not going to say a lot about the book because I don't want to spoil it, but it is definitely worth reading... The entire series is! I hope you get into it, Happy Reading Y'all! 💋
“Gavyn’s Pursuit (The Bellamy Brothers - Book 3)” was an excellent read. …& even better comedic moments of levity, one liners & thought bubbled to offer some semblance of humor in the midst of despair. However, I loath that Gavyn’s character was deprived of proper encouragement, love, great childhood memories & nurturing that typically eminent from mother. Sadly, she was so preoccupied with hatefulness, angry, resentfulness & bitterness towards everyone that she lived a tormented & miserable existence. …to the end😬‼️ Nevertheless, there’s always darkness before the dawn. Gavyn received all that was previously denied: acceptance, validation, his immediately family & the elusive title, public recognition as a brother, a son, my son a Bellamy‼️ …finally better days🥹‼️
It's an excellent story. One negative deputy chief, Kia and chief Larson. Kia, whatever. "Chief Larson waited a full minute after Gavyn left her office before laying into me about my careless and foolish decision to mix business with pleasure. She also told me there isn’t an official rule prohibiting our relationship. However, it's not something she will allow us to continue, given our current ranks. Long story short, Chief Larson told me that I have three options… continue the relationship and receive a demotion, change precincts, or receive an automatic termination. Chief Larson said if she had to decide, it would be with me surrendering my gun, badge, and pension.." Sounds like a personal problem, so for that, my star rating really is 4.75
gavyn’s pursuit had all the makings of something i’d usually enjoy. i love instalove, i even love a little unhinged when it’s done in a way that feels healed — but this story? nah. it screameeeeeedddd a weird ass toxic from beginning to when i dnf’d it.
after years of estrangement, gavyn’s abusive mom dies, and he sets out to live life for himself .. while being haunted by her voice. but instead of growth, we get chaos: sleeping with his boss, because he feels like her coochie can heal him 🙄, all the while she has a pillhead sister she’s trying to take accountability for. this whole cast of characters desperately need therapy.
i tried to push through, but at 70% i had to tap out. this wasn’t the kind of messy that keeps me entertained, it was just messy.
Gavyn truly needed everything that came.his way.after what Danica had put him through his entire life she kept a major part of him away for her own shellfish reasons as well as putting doubts, no real love or affection but when she gave him a small piece of what he needed before the big homie stepped in to stop her continuous spread of hate he was now able to move on not looking back. Meeting his father and brothers you could tell he indeed fitted right in especially with his oldest brother, lol in order to truly understand and enjoy his story you have to start from the beginning of the Bellamy Brothers great series
This was great read!!!…Gavyn’s mother was truly an evil spirit, but that funeral speech he gave was bonkers!!!…He spk his truth though, and I’m not mad about it!!!… The little boy inside of Gavyn’s was looking for love and to be healed!!!…He needed a family that accepted him outside of his Aunti!!!… To find love with Sharae was a beautiful thing and then meet his father, brothers and the woman Danicka claimed ruined her life was the cherry on top!!!… The conversation Gavyn had with Nichelle was so needed and was part of his healing!!!… Sharae was right, they needed to get a check for those brothers!!!…🤣🤣🤣
Baaa-by Det. Gavyn Garret was definitely a hot bae. He walked into that office for an interview and immediately decided Sgt Sharae Chapman was going to be his lady. He never let up in his pursuit. Sgt. Chapman was hesitant, but couldn't resist his charm and advancements. She was definitely in trouble.
Loved how they were there for each other through their family trauma/issue. A mom who hated her son, connecting with a family you never knew about, and a sister who went down the road of drugs.
Family and love helped their relationship to blossom and stand the test of time.
Baby Gavyn telling you that he’s not like the other Bellamy Brothers was NOT A LIE!!! He’s a WHOLE FOOL!!! I was soooo pissed at Danica for the.way she treated him. I was so happy to see that it didn’t close him off to love and family. He KNEW Sharae was HIS at 1st sight. I appreciate her being able to love him through the pains of his past!! I loved this book so much, I clapped at the end👏🏾👏🏾💜💜. Another #1 Mrs. Baxter, job well done!
This was co freaking delightful that I read if in one single sitting. In the middle of the night. I had read the other books in the series but this lobe is my undisputed favorite. He feel so looks hard, she didn't know what hit her! real talk, childhood trauma can dictate your adult movements. The dialogue was co beautiful, I was swooning at the life they spoke into each other. Such a good read! My favorite of the year. Gavyn is my new sweetie.
Gavyn was tourched by his mom all his life his self esteem is low now his mom is on her death bed and finally tells him who his father is. Sharae is the boss at police station and has to interview him and knew she was it, with all the drama and finding his father and his family it all worked out. Good Book
I couldn’t really stay on topic of the direction of this read. I thought it was more of a crime/love story where the crimes would be solved while the couple found their way to each other. Then I thought it was more geared towards finding family while they worked on their love story. It just seemed like a lot going on and I found myself getting lost at time.
Gavyn wanted Sharae from first sight the things his mother put him through did a number on his mental but the way he was honest and communicated about his fast and feeling helped him work through it…the way he pursed sharae showed he was a true Bellamy I would love to get a family book cause the 3 brothers together are straight fools
Enjoyed the love story of Sharae & Gavyn. Glad to see that despite what his mother feed him most of his life, he was able to push it all to the side and get to know & love on his family. Also it was nice that they were able to get married by the end of the story. Audiobook was well done. Thank you Riley Baxter for your creativity in creating the Bellamy Brothers, Enjoyed them all.💖💖⭐⭐⭐
I loved the Bellamy family! Gavin was NOT playing about his Pretty Rae. His mother was a piece of work but I am so happy he was able to find his people and feel loved. As always, this author doesn’t miss!
This story was everything 🙌🏾 ❤️ love this series 👏🏾 these men brothers oweee yesss but this brothers 💙 was secy edgy rough and didn't play no game the chemistry between characters was everything yesssd one of my favorite 🥰🥰🥰
Adored this 3rd book with the Bellamy brothers/family! Couldn’t stop reading because Gavyn persona was like Nino🤭omg! He was funny and off the chain at times! This is a must read!! Great job Riley👏🏾👏🏾
This book is hilarious. Gayvyn did not play about his Pretty Rae. May all women he loved this passionately and well. I loved that love healed him from the trauma of his past. I loved that Sharea had a hard job but wasn't hard hearted. This is a great read.
My heart went out to Gawyn that Mother was a piece of work filling his mind with all those lies. I'm glad he was able to form a bond with his father and brothers. Nino was crazy as always. I'm glad Sharae saw something in him that was worth fighting for their relationship.
