Good Hurt, Splinter: A Dark College Romance

Rate this book
Splinter (Good Hurt, Book 2) follows Addison and Asher as obsession, trauma, and possessive love collide.

After an explosive breakup, Addison returns to Harvard determined to prove she’s over Asher — but heartbreak, dangerous lovers, and buried demons pull them both deeper into the dark.

Determined to win her back, Asher’s attempts to protect spiral into control; Addison must decide whether the man who fractured her life is worth taking back and if she’s willing to lose herself in the process.
The Good Hurt series unflinchingly explores the highs and lows of a toxic romance, where desire turns obsessive and trust gives way to fear. With every page, readers are drawn deeper into Addison and Asher’s world—a place where surrender feels dangerous, love feels cruel, and breaking free might be the hardest choice of all. This is a dark, gripping story about the risks of passion and the fine line between ecstasy and devastation. Perfect for fans of dark college romance, alpha male antiheroes, and morally grey, emotionally intense stories.

About the author

Summer Robert

Summer Robert is a recovering corporate girlie turned weaver of angsty, dark romance stories that are as suspenseful as they are salacious. She’s known for writing twisted and often emotionally devastating love stories with unhinged spice and gut-wrenching cliffhangers. Summer loves a good Easter egg written between the pages as much as she loves surviving off of caffeine and vibes. A fun fact about Summer is that she is a hoarder and self-proclaimed connoisseur of perfume and spends more time than she should debating what perfume her unapologetically strong FMCs wear (because your girl loves an innuendo). Most importantly, she's a mom of two small humans and one small, vicious, and spiteful yorkipoo. Summer currently resides in Los Angeles, and although she is originally a native Ohioan from a shockingly small farm town, she will forever call LA her home.

There is alot to unpack in this one. Alot of exploration and major missteps on both MCs parts. I feel for Addison, yet also understand where Asher was coming from. Execution wasn't the greatest by any means, but hopeful for a better outcome.
Asher is still unpredictable like usual but now Addison has become hot and cold as well. The push and pull in her brain is hard to handle, but makes this one so much more intense.
I feel like this one, although still multiple povs, is on the slower burn side compared to book 1. Yet the ending has you in a chokehokd with yet another cliffhanger.

I can't wait for the next book! Im hoping for a HEA, but you never know with these characters.

The second book in the Good Hurt series. I found Addison a bit annoying in the first half. People kept using her and she didn't have any backbone. Asher really did a number on her. And her "best friend" is a really horrible selfish bitch. I hope Addison get some fire back and cut all the ropes that brings her down. Really loved the Daniel character until you know...he was an asshole😅🤣

I am curious to the last book and how the story ends📚🥰 #teamAsher

Good Hurt: Splinter is the continuation of the tortured souls Addison and Asher. Both characters are focused on trying to accomplish their goals in their careers/ education. Their tale consists of many difficult decisions of balancing ambition vs passion. As Addison struggles with making healthy connections, I found myself rooting for her because her struggles are real and raw. She captures you with her inner monologue and trauma responses. As she navigates her research and classes at Harvard, we follow along Asher’s journey as well. Asher is currently navigating the start of his career on the other side of the world, tormented by his decisions that led him on his current path. He desperately wants to protect Addison but also respects her wishes (at first). As their journey continued, I found myself glued to my kindle. I highly recommend this series to any person who’ve wrestled with trusting others and trauma responses. If you love dark romance because it heals a part of your soul, Good Hurt will leave it’s mark!

I thought the first book was good but this one got even better. It’s not a cut and dry story and the characters both develop in their own way. You’ll get mad, there are surprises, betrayal, and struggling to understand yourself and what you really want. This book is SO good. She is still working through her trauma and he is still working on his start up as well as protecting her from afar.

Hooked for part 3

So much happens to Asher and Addison, separately. They did need the space, but are literally putting themselves through torture. Vile words, pride, and maybe some self-preservation keeps them apart, and they suffer for it. This story arc reminds me a little on the 50 shades trilogy. If course, now I need to jump into part 3.

I LOVED this book and the whole series. Asher & Addison’s love story goes from 🥰 to 🫣 to 😣 to 😬 to 🤯 to 🥹 it’s a roller coaster of a series throughout all three books and the spice is HOT.

Yes, there are some very heavy topics as the series goes on, but it adds so much depth to the series as a whole.

Summer’s writing is TOP NOTCH and I foresee these books and any future books becoming a hit!

Without giving any spoilers if you like
- brothers best friend trope
- forbidden love
- Alpha MMC
- touch her and ☠️
- ex-lover stalker
- FMC fighting her 👹

This book is for you. My FAVORITE part is summer brings emotion to MMC and I think that is so special because it showcases that men do have feelings and emotions.

If you want a book series that is not only spice heavy but plot heavy, you NEED to read these books.

This was an absolutelt perfect follow-up to book one! Im not one to leave spoilers but I will say this! Whatever you think is gping to happen after book 1.....is not whats going to happen. The amount of heartbreak Summer writes, and how things are redeemed is amazing. I cant wait to dive into book 3!
