I came across this being recommended in a Facebook group and had to check it out. Cry Little Sister is the title of a song in The Lost Boys, a 1987 vampire flick and my favorite movie ever. I thought maybe it was about vampires. I was wrong. The title is much more literal.

So yeah, this is a taboo read. Jaxon and Dahlia, the main characters and love interests are half siblings. No vampires here. I don’t typically seek out taboo reads on purpose but I’m not necessarily opposed to them. As I understand, this has now been banned on Amazon. I was just lucky enough to borrow it from KU before it got banned.

I liked that Jaxon quickly changed gears and became protective of Dahlia instead of piling on her bullying. Poor girl couldn’t catch a break. Even her mom was a bully.

I was a little surprised at how easily they slipped into their taboo relationship. I was expecting more resistance from one or both of them.

There is spice starting around 40% that gradually builds up just touching to anal around 68%. Dahlia doesn’t officially lose her vcard until 80% or so, in front of a small audience. Everyone rates spice and burn different but my standards label this a slow burn.

There’s a whole secret society subplot, The Exiled, here that somehow grants its members complete freedom from all laws on Hellfire Night (like the Purge?) which occurs at unspecified intervals of time. That’s how this book ends up overcoming its obstacles and takes care of the people around Jaxon and Dahlia who would object to their union. The Kings in the society were the ones to witness Dahlia “sacrificing” her vcard to join the society.

I liked how possessive and protective Jaxon was. He was determined to have Dahlia and destroy anyone who hurt her or wronged her.

I liked the book well enough but its intended audience is definitely someone who is more into taboo reads.

Virgin h
No manwhore
No condoms
Exhibitionism
No OW drama
Mild OM drama
No cheating
No sharing
No scenes with others
No separation
No 3rd act breakups
HEA
Epilogue (1 year later)

Safety - OM drama is mild, she goes on a date with a jerky guy. She’s not really interested in him. Jaxon ends up taking care of him on Hellfire Night.

Safety - this was pretty safe, in my opinion

3 ⭐️ This was a crazy ride, but I had a lot of fun! Cry Little Sister by Willow McQuerry is a dark, taboo-romance about half-siblings Daliah and Jaxon and how their relationship grows over the years. One of my favorite qualities about this book is that there is no «real» violence or crule interactions between the MC’s (it is a dark romance, but hear me out) which I feel is great and very refreshing for a dark-romance. Way to often one of the MC’s are horrible towards their love interest, but this one is a true «touch her and die»-vibe against everyone else, which I really enjoyed!

«What will you do when you make me cry?» He doesn’t blink when he says, «I’ll rip my heart out for you.» 🖤

I think for me tho it slipped a little toward the final 3/4 of the book, and so much was happening that it was a little hard to get into everything that was going on. But overall I had alot of fun with most of the book - it was dark, silly, insane and just an entertaining time. For dark, taboo-romance readers out there I think this is one to read.

PS: I will never look at sourdough bread the same ever again… IYKYK

Thanks to Willow MvQuerry for giving me an ARC of this book! 🖤

3.5 stars. Would have been more if what happened after 80% wasn’t included but I’ll write that below.

So this is a taboo romance. It’s very character driven and lacks in plot and any world building. Jaxon and Dahlia are half siblings. They have the same dad, though they don’t meet until dahlia is 11 and Jaxon is 13. Her mom was their dad’s mistress but they end up getting together and moving into Jaxon’s house. Jaxon is mean to Dahlia at first but once he realizes what she means to him he goes full steam ahead.

Jaxon is the definition of a possessive, obsessive, psychopath. He’s determined to have Dahlia and nothing will stand in his way. Not even their parents! He doesn’t let anyone touch him but Dahlia. Though this is said and not exactly shown. It’s not even touch her and die it’s literally make her cry and die. He better not see any tears or whoever caused them is a goner.

Dahlia was alright. I wanted her to stand up for herself more and she kind of annoyed me when she kept doing stuff with Jax and then saying this is wrong, we can’t do this. Yet she wants it just as much as he does. Once their relationship turns sexual it’s pretty heavy on the sex scenes after that.

I didn’t understand the whole secret society thing. It’s not explained it detail and it left me with more questions than answers honestly.

Okay so kind of SPOILER below….

So about 80% dahlia is kidnapped by this masked man and drugged. She’s forced into marriage which she isn’t aware of at the time. She’s taken to a mansion where there’s a bunch of sex and murder happening and she’s told by the masked man that she needs to sacrifice her virginity. She says she will do it so she can leave and find Jaxon. So at this point she doesn’t know the masked man is Jaxon. She thinks it’s some random guy. So she has sex with him and she likes it. She’s so turned on and the whole time in her mind she’s like well sorry Jaxon. So she thinks she’s cheating on him but she’s still doing it willingly and is really enjoying. We as the readers know it’s him but she doesn’t and that completely ruined it for me. She so easily had sex with someone thinking it was someone else and I didn’t like that. Also this sex act is taking place in front of three other men. And then she finally figures out it’s Jaxon and she’s the one who’s mad? Like for real girl? You just had sex with someone you thought was a random dude you married, calling him husband and shit. Ugh it ruined it so much for me!! Also Jax says he going to tie her up and deny her orgasms and then have sex with her in front of the whole party. How are you so completely possessive but you’re willing to let everyone see that? So yeah lost stars there.

NO CHEATING (but she was willing to if she had sex with someone she thought was a stranger)
NO OW DRAMA
OM DRAMA (some guy takes her out to lunch but Jaxon takes care of him)
NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP
DUAL VIRGINS
PAST SEXUAL ASSULT ON CHILD (MC)
MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER
MURDER

DNF @ 54%

This started off great. The first few chapters were interesting. But then the time skip happened so suddenly and so randomly, it was absolutely baffling. I mean whatever happened between those lost years? I thought they would be separated but that’s not the case. Then the chapters after that were about the two mcs being horny and trying to cope feel. The tension between the two step-siblings didn’t feel as forbidden as it should because of those lost years.

PS; honestly, it is frustrating to dnf a book after I got halfway through it but I truly can’t see myself enjoying this book and I don’t want it to become a chore to finish a book where I should be enjoying it instead.

TABOO and FORBIDDEN TO THE MAX and I'm all here for i!!

This book is one where you HAVE to read the triggers and content list because if you’re not okay with what this book contains or give it a terrible review solely because you didn't read the list... then that's your own fault. The trigger warning list is there for a reason. period.

this is a dark, half blood siblings, taboo, forbidden, morally pitch black, touch her and die, secret society romance. it is part of the exodus series collab with a whole bunch of authors.

MY GOD DO I LOVE JAXON !!!! ugh this man is possessive and obsessive and i’m DOWN BAD 😍 ugh im so in love with him. the things this man did had me gasping and my jaw was on the damn floor LOL !! the split tongue ?? yeah i need him. the way he protected dahlia was EVERYTHING omg. sweet innocent dahlia is someone i just want to hug 🥹 i felt her deep in my core. she’s literally the baddest and i absolutely love her!! i related to her so much like it’s insane

this book was everything ! the perfect romance ! the perfect couple !

Taboo Read Hits All the Right Spots

ARC Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Factor: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

First off, let's talk about the fact that this book is a taboo (half-siblings) dark romance and contains many potential triggers. Please read the trigger warnings before reading the book.

The book is so good. It is well written with beautiful pacing and an absorbing plot. The story weaves between the POVs of Dahlia and Jaxon. She has mental health issues, and he has anger issues. He becomes her protector and champion. She keeps him grounded against black out rages.

There is murder, mayhem, and a secret society but, at its core, is the developing relationship between Dahlia and Jaxon.

Then there is the sex. There are many mind-blowing, descriptive, and heat filled sex scenes between our MCs. It's truly a feast for anyone with darker desires.

The fact that I read this even tho 2 of my least favorite (and I’m talking like I DNF books because of it) tropes were in it just proves how great of a job Willow did. I’m fine reading taboo tropes but the half siblings is one I really, really don’t like. So I just lied to myself that they were step siblings so I could get through it. (No judges girl. It’s just not my thing) I also really don’t like voyeurism (also no judges, swears) but I powered through because this book was that good. Disturbing and very serial kìller-y at the end but still a good read. And one that I recommend.

And also like who knew that bread could be a murdeř weapon or that cùm made jewelry was even a thing.

There were a lot of things that made this such a good read. The plus size rep and mental health rep, which Willow always does such a good realistic job portraying, were my favorite reasons. I related to Dahlia a lot throughout this book and that’s something I don’t find in a lot of the books I read. I admire and respect Willow for portraying the negative, ugly, terrifying side of mental illnesses. Sometimes it’s nice to hear that someone else knows what it feels like to be different.

The love that Jaxson has for Dahlia is something I think everyone wishes for. It’s all encompassing. Yes, It’s fućked up, (I mean the serial kìller-y behavior more than the sibling thing) but it’s powerful. If I had a love like that I think I’d let it swallow me whole.

And! I just learned that this is part of the Exodus series which are made up of different books by different authors but it all takes place in the same universe. Which I think is just the coolest thing ever. I feel guilty not knowing about this series. I’m sure the rest of the series will be just as WTF-ish as this book but I’m still going to devour every book.

My rating:
⭐️story: 10/10
🌶️spice: 9/10
🫢😱WTF factor: 9/10
😳🤢What the hèll did I just read factor: 9/10

I know I read this but for the life of me I can’t remember where and what happened to my rating and review!!! I remember liking it. It was crazy and it was dual virgin, definitely safe in that department. I remember some OM drama because she kept denying her feelings so she met some guy online and he saw her at the store. The MMC was not happy and this is where touch her and die comes into play. 3.5 because I know the FMC annoyed me a little bit. Interested in the next one called scream little sister but I have no idea who or what it’s about.

I was hooked at the start but then it just went downhill.

The dialogue was too cringy, calling each other “little sister” “big brother” at the age of 22 & 24 just sounds weird. In general the way they spoke seemed childlike and inept. It was just too odd for me for me to look past😂

If you’re in it for the taboo smut and don’t care about anything else you might enjoy it, but this is a hard pass from me.

If taboo is what you want, taboo is what you’ll get with this book.

I can’t lie, personally, I did pretend that they were step-siblings and not half, but yall do what yall want. (I knew it going into the book)

Other than that, I loved the toxicity and obsession. We also got mental health representation throughout the book for both characters.

Now, I think we’re all here for the smut, and Jaxon did not disappoint.

As this is the second book I’ve read of the Exodus series, it just confirms that I will most likely read the entirety of these interconnected standalones.

This was my first Willow McQuerry book and wow just wow.
It was edgy, it was taboo, it was dark, it pushed the boundaries, it was a DEVIOUSLY DELICIOUS read. All in all a fun little fast paced novel, and very much fed the part of me that craves taboo so taboo that it toes the line of having gone too far 🤤
Definitely won't be my last Willow read, I highly recommend checking the TW before you pick this one up though, it's dirty and sick and so immoral and if you're not into that you have been warned. 💋🫶🏼

i devoured this book in less than 24 hours, it was such a great read! the tension and storyline were so entertaining. jaxon and dahlia are complex characters who have their own struggles, which are written extremely well. i loved how they were each others safe space. jaxon is wild and unhinged, but he's also sweet and caring when it comes to dahlia. he actually listens and pays attention to her, things that are near non-existent for this fmc. dahlia, my girl has been Through It™ and is still a sweetheart. i'm so proud of her growth by the end of the book. jaxon's friends are my fave side characters, they're loyal and supportive. i loved the post blackout scene with them, i thought it was hilarious.

Without a doubt, this book is a masterpiece. The author writes beautifully and I loved how she portrayed the love between the brothers. The title is perfect and fits the protagonist's personality. I loved the relationship they developed and how it was described.

My only problem was that I didn't see myself represented in the story. I thought the description of the protagonist didn't match my mental image. However, this didn't stop me from enjoying the book. In fact, I loved it so much that I searched for the author to see if she had other books related to the same theme.

The story is about taboo, but it's a true love story. I kept looking for the protagonist to see if I could find other books by the author. And I can say that they don't just have 1 book, but I need them to create many more because the author writes incredibly well.

In short, I give 5 stars without a doubt. I regret that I read it on my computer and could only mark a few pages of the book. If I had read it on the Apple app, I'm sure I would have marked many more quotes.

This is a dark taboo romance with heavy trigger warnings

This was my first ARC read and I was really excited to finally get to do this! So here goes:

I was expecting jaw dropping levels of depravity, but maybe I'm just that twisted that I wished for more. I enjoyed the character development and I'm all for the body positive MMC being a thick girly myself. We love a sensitive man here!
The plot had me intrigued and felt original to me as I haven't read anything similar, and that's hard to do these days.
This is a standalone in a series that the author is working on with other authors and I think I will check the other books out as well to see where the ride takes us

Cry Little Sister by Willow McQuerry

First I'm going to start off by saying this is my first book I have read by this author and I'm OBSESSED! I will be reading more ASAP

Please check your trigger warnings and content warnings before diving into this

I honestly don't even know where to start with my review because I have so many thoughts. Daliha and her mother go to move in with her mom's boyfriend and there she meets Jaxon. She has had a rough childhood and she just wants everyone to like her but she just doesn't know where to begin. Daliha mom omfg I could not stand that woman because seriously what kind of mother are you to treat your child that way.

Jaxon is unhinged, toxic, possessive and obsessive. I couldn't get enough of him and the things that would be coming out of his mouth. The push and pull between them was everything and I just wanted to eat it up. From the moment Jaxon started being soft with her behind closed towards and just towards her in general my heart immediately started melting.

The spicy scenes in this movie I literally couldn't get enough. Had me wanting to take an ice bath because it was so hot!! I was so hooked that I couldn't put this book down because I was just eating it up
