Infinity stars!!!! This is one of those books that hit me so hard emotionally that I will never forget the entire experience! It was utter perfection, and I have zero complaints other than my heart was so broken in the middle of this book that I had to take a break and walk away. None of my predictions were correct and the way this entire series was wrapped up could not have been more perfect even amongst the pieces that hurt. It is a journey of love, hope, and healing and the sacrifices that someone will make for those they love and the hope of a better world.

The depth of these characters, pacing, plot development, and twists/reveals were executed brilliantly. Your heart will be pounding amongst the action and the romance will have you begging for more. That library scene!! Just wow!!

There is no review I could write to articulate how much this book blew me away. I have so much I want to say but I’m worried I will spoil something, and I NEED everyone to experience this journey without knowing what might happen. If you haven’t started this series, I am BEGGING YOU to please do so!! I promise you will not regret one single moment of it!

Tropes/themes:
✨Prophecy
✨Chosen one
✨Touch her and die
✨“Play along” and “Mine”
✨Battles/rebellion
✨Animal friends

This is an ARC review.

I enjoyed the multiple POVs, which really gave us insight into different characters’ perspectives and was a great way to break up the story. I find Ari to be the most intriguing character out of the cast, there’s just something really compelling about this young woman, who had to deal with a lot and mature into an adult woman very quickly with all the responsibilities and worries of motherhood, and unable to share the most important parts of herself with her husband.

The relationship between Verus and Ari was beautiful, I really enjoyed seeing a mature couple who respect and love each other, despite their individual situations - I can’t say much without spoiling book 1. The quiet and calm nature of their love is inspiring and shows a different way you can live a happy and fulfilled life, even if they are not your first choice.

The overall plot was great, and it was certainly a page turner for me! I think because I have aphantasia some of the world building was lost on me, certainly the fashion was, but it wasn’t entirely essential to the plot! It was what I hoped it would be, and I’m a little sad to say goodbye to this world - but I’m sure the authors have more in store for us!

✨ ARC Review ✨
The Stars Could Save Us by Stephanie Combs & Valerie Rivers

4 ⭐️ 1 🌶️

I loved getting POVs from so many people in this book! This whole book was a roller coaster of emotions, and yet wrapped up the duology quite nicely. The writing is beautiful and each each of the characters have their own unique stories to tell and emotional journey to go on. I can’t say much more without spoiling book one!

I did struggle a bit with the timeline, it felt like everything was so rushed even when weeks would pass at a time. However that may just be a side affect of me not reading as much books with this pacing style 😂

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and was satisfied with the ending! Despite it being an ending to a duology, I would love to see a bit more of Aella and Kal’s future.

This book is out on February 26th! I definitely recommend checking out the first book and novella 1.5 - the whole series is a great cozy fantasy-romance!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book. The Stars Would Curse Us was one of my favourite reads of 2024. The Stars Could Save Us was an excellent a conclusion to both Ari and Aella’s stories. The book was heart wrenching!! There were moments when I didn’t want to keep reading, but I had to just to know how it would all play out. I am happy with how the book ended, but I don’t feel their stories are finished. Here’s hoping Stephanie and Valerie continue writing about these characters I fell in love with!

*The Stars Could Save Us* was everything I wanted and more! The multi-POV made it so easy to connect with each character, and their struggles felt so real. The emotional journey had me all over the place—in the best way. The fantasy elements added so much depth, from the magical powers to the world-building, making everything feel even more alive. I laughed, I stressed, I maybe teared up a little (or a lot). The way everything came together at the end was so satisfying, making it a perfect close to the duology.

The series reaches a conclusion in book 2. The writing is flawless and captivating. It is truly hard to put down any of these books. It is hard to say goodbye to the world of Esterra and the characters because it was fun reading about them, and I was engrossed. Again, I wasn’t the happiest with Ari’s choice and the outcome per se, but I am happy with the closure, and this is a great story that I will remember for a while. I will literally read anything these two authors write. So good.

4.5⭐️ A beautiful and heart wrenching conclusion to this unique and engaging duology.

I really enjoyed this conclusion to The Stars Would Curse Us. I especially enjoyed the multiple points of view, so we see the story unfold in different ways. This book was full of action and romance, and some heartbreaking moments as well. It was a satisfying end for both Aella and Kal, as well as Ari and Wynn.

Thanks so much to the authors for the advanced copy of this book! All opinions are my own!

This book left me speechless. The writing is beautifully crafted, the characters are rich and complex, and the story is an emotional journey that’s both heartbreaking and healing. By just 13% in, I was already tearing up—and the intensity only grew from there.

While it’s a fantasy, the raw emotions and struggles these characters face feel so real and relatable. You’ll ache with their pain, rejoice in their triumphs, and be overwhelmed by the depth of love woven into every page.

The way the story’s threads come together is nothing short of brilliant. From sorrow and heartbreak to healing and resolution, each moment feels earned, and the ending is deeply satisfying.

I devoured this book in a single day—it’s impossible to put down! If you’re looking for a series that will linger in your thoughts long after the final page, this is it.

Do yourself a favor and start this series today. You won’t regret it!

The duet is complete! The Stars Would Curse Us and The Stars Could Save Us are out, complete, and ready for the world. And there is even a bonus novella – The Stars Couldn’t Break Us. Find the whole series on KU or in Steph and Val’s Etsy shop. 😊

This final book is an absolute rollercoaster! There is tension, heartbreak, and action.

Each character is on their own unique journey and seeing how they all come together is fun but INTENSE! Their struggles are tangible and complex. Steph and Val honor them so well.

My favorite part of this series is the setting. I adore all of the worldbuilding with the underwater world, the magic, and the little details that are so well thought out.

Congrats Steph and Val on this completed series. I am so happy for you both. <3

4.5/5 ⭐️ I received this book as an ARC and I must say, my heart wasn’t ready for this rollercoaster of emotion! It was beautifully written from the different characters’ points of view, and I felt every heartbreak along with them. When a book can bring tears to my eyes and capture me within the plot as this book did, it automatically deserves all the praise in the world. My only wish was that the ending not feel quite as rushed, but aside from that, I was sad to leave this world and its characters. Extremely thankful to have been able to be a part of the review process and I’m eagerly looking forward to future projects from Stephanie and Valerie!

✨The Stars Could Save Us✨

Wow. Y’all. If you’re looking for a series that is wholly unique with two separate yet coexisting storylines that merge cohesively in an epic way, THIS IS IT. TSCSU is the second book and finale following The Stars Would Curse Us by Steph and Val. There is a novella that slips seamlessly right in between the two novels and it is SO GOOD and I believe so pivotal to the storyline- if you want the full on FEELS.

In this conclusion we begin right where we left off following Aella and Ari on their journeys to not only save their elemental race but their family and hearts. We also get our MMCs POV, Wynn and Kal. I honestly typed up a description and then immediately deleted it because the possible spoilers, y’all!! Just know this: I despaired. I swooned. I growled. I ugly cried. I shook my kindle. I “yesss!!!”d. I whimpered in sorrow. I sighed in relief. You will go through ALL the emotions through this series.

Steph and Val did such a phenomenal job always keeping me on my toes; every plot twist was a surprise. Because they’re so good at this, I felt like this journey was fresh and unique in its construction but also its plot. I’m so proud of you two!

Tropes you may find in TSCSU are fated mates, forced proximity, feminine rage, men who will do anything for their woman, low spice (or cracked door in the sense of you know what’s going on but the descriptions are emotional and not focused on the body parts), forced proximity, morally grey prince, second chance, found family, plot twists, high stakes, cute rat friend, chosen one, and “play along”.

TSCSU releases February 26 which gives you plenty of time to read books 1 and 1.5!
Thank you, Steph and Val, for allowing me to be an arc reader for this series! It’s such a gift!

The Stars Could Save Us (Book 2 of The Stars Would Curse Us Series)
Authors: Stephanie Combs and Valerie Rivers
Release Date: February 26, 2025
Star Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Scoville Spice Scale: 🌶 ¾

This is one of my most anticipated books of 2024. The conclusion to The Stars Would Curse Us series by the Award Winning Sister Author Team of Stephanie Combs and Valerie Rivers. If you have not read the 1st book of the series, STOP! Even though this is going to be as spoiler free as possible, if you haven't read the first book, you need to read it before this one. I also recommend reading The Stars Couldn't Break Us, a novella.

After the cliffhanger of the first book, I was left reeling. The characters were left in impossible situations. Aella & Arianwen both were heartbroken. The situation was in shambles. The King emboldened, the Rebellion desperate, Prince Kaleidos scrambling for the safety of those he cares for.

I spent this book gasping, crying, screaming "No, No, NO!" and "YEEEEEESSSSSS". This sister duo of authors have absolutely blown me away with a piece of the long game they played. Oh, the key. THE KEY! Round of applause on this whole series.

I will be posting a more in-depth review. For now, make sure you read the first book and novella, and then read this book for:

✨️ Amazing Worldbuilding
✨️ Chosen One
✨️ Incredible Beasts
✨️ Love Triangle
✨️ Elemental Magic
✨️ Truth & Consequences
✨️ Reunions
✨️ True Mates
✨️ Revolving Door of Emotions
✨️ She may be silver, but he's Morally Gray

I would like to thank the authors for trusting me with this Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.

4/5 ⭐

Plot
In a tale of redemption, sacrifice, and survival, two women fight to defy fate as worlds collide. After the harrowing end of the marriage trials, Aella’s secret is exposed, forcing her into slavery and stripping her of her powers. Yet when the prince makes a shocking claim, she is thrust into a new battle for survival, playing a deadly game against her captors while trying to embrace her identity as the prophesied saviour. Meanwhile, Arianwen races to rescue Aella, determined to rally allies and unite divided nations against the oppressive Iris. With resistance at every turn, Arianwen must inspire an unprecedented alliance, risking everything to bring hope to a crumbling world. As love, betrayal, and prophecy intertwine, both women face the ultimate question: can destiny be rewritten?

Thoughts
I was thrilled to dive into the second book after enjoying the first one!

The reconnection between Ari and Wynn was incredibly emotional to read, as I loved them together in the first book, but now I can’t help loving Verus and Ari too 😭. However, I was content with whoever she ended up with.

My favorite chapters, though, were the ones with Aella and Kal. Their love is so pure and adorable; it melts my heart every time 😭🫶🏻.

I’m still a bit confused about the world-building and the water element, but I did my best to follow along 😅.

Overall, the book had a great ending to this duology, and I truly enjoyed it!

Thank you Stephanie Combs & Valerie Rivers for sending me an arc!

I am unable to put into words just how much the finale of this series has broken me 💔 just to turn around and breathe new life into me ♥️

So many tears spilt! Numerous hours of crying!

A love that exists beyond the world from which these characters come 🔥

•Soul-crushing loss
•Renewed hope
•Destiny
•Fated soulmates
•Spice
•Battles & War
•Reclamation
•Twists
•Revelations
•Love & Loss
•Witty Banter
•Stunningly vivid & detailed world building
•Morally grey & straight up black-souled villains
•Torture & abuse
•Resilience

It took me almost 3 weeks to finish this novel. That is extremely rare for me because I can usually finish a book in under 5 days. I knew after the first few chapters that something soul-wrenching was going to occur and yet, I was still left in shambles. The loss was a little less all-consuming with how the authors played out the rest of the novel which was an incredibly hard situation to navigate. These authors put SO MUCH time and thought into these characters and the storyline!! How this series is not up there with the workings of Sara J Maas is beyond me.

This series truly deserves all the recognition it can get!!

I truly feel like I don’t know what to do with myself. I’m currently in recovery mode ❤️‍🩹

Please excuse me while I go sit in a corner and resume my namelessness self (IYKYK)

Umm… 😶. I uh might have a hard time writing this review.

First off ♾️ ⭐️’s. This is as everything & more. So much more. After finishing book 1 I couldn’t even imagine what was going to happen next because I was in shock & I was definitely not prepared for this. The world is just so unique & fantastic with amazing characters that you will love & hate. The lengths that Ari would go to for Aella was amazing. Even as a healer she was very strong. I wouldn’t underestimate her. I was so nervous for Aella & what would happen between her & Kal. Aella was fierce! Kal always kept me on my toes. Was he good? Was he bad? I almost forgot to mention Rat! I absolutely adored that scene so I can’t wait for everyone to read it.

This book made me laugh, made me nervous & I cried so hard. I cried off & on all day. Just thinking about it can set me off. It wasn’t just a tear here & there, no it was like when my dog passed away. Hard crying. Just a hole in my heart & it hurts but you get closure. My dog even came to check on me & bring me his toys. I think he was a bit concerned. 2025 reads are starting off strong. Really I feel like there is so much more that I could say but from all the crying I’m just like 😐. It wasn’t amazing & you should definitely pick up this duology plus the novella.

Do yourself a favor and read this series from start to finish. I read books 1 & 1.5 last year and they were in my top 5 books for 2024. I was so excited to be chosen as an ARC reader for The Stars Could Save Us.

The Stars Would Curse Us (Book 1) has a HUGE plot twist and leaves off on quite the cliffhanger, so I was dying to know what came next. The journey these characters go on through this series is incredible. So much growth and change and I was absolutely invested every step of the way. In general, The Stars Could Save Us (this book) felt much meatier and a bit darker than the first 2 books. My emotions were on a roller coaster from page 1. There were sweet, tender moments, LOL moments, edge-of-your-seat moments and rip-your-heart-out moments. I laughed and cried and nearly threw my Kindle across the room. All in all, a reader's dream experience wrapped up in a book.

This was a great conclusion to a wonderful series. There were times the book felt long, but there was so much character development and world-building needed to make it to the end so I didn't mind at all. Honestly, I just loved the entire story and I can't wait to see what's next for these incredible authors. I'll be first in line to read whatever they write next!

What a conclusion to this fantastic trilogy. I say trilogy because while The Stars Couldn't Break Us is technically listed as Book 1.5, it's really more like Book 2 in my opinion. It really sets up the emotions for this book. So highly recommend reading The Stars Would Curse Us, then The Stars Couldn't Break Us, and then finally The Stars Could Save Us.

We continue following the Arianwen and Aella as they battle to save Esterra from the corrupt Iris. But it's filled with difficult challenges for both. Arianwen deals with facing her former lover while trying to find Aella, while the latter deals with surviving the cruel Iris. Both storylines are riveting and I devoured them because I had to know what happened next.

The characters are very likeable and you really come to know them, and care for them. And a huge part of me didn't want to say goodbye to them once I finished the epilogue. But I feel like there's a chance that this series could continue into something more, which I hope it does.

Overall, this was a great book, and I'm really looking forward to more books by Valerie and Stephanie. I think it's incredible that two sisters came together to write such a great book.

The Stars Would Curse Us (Book 1) is a rollercoaster of emotions, with a HUGE plot twist and a cliffhanger ending that left me craving more. The journey these characters embark on in this series is incredible, filled with growth, change, and an unwavering sense of investment.

In contrast, The Stars Could Save Us (this book) felt more substantial and darker compared to the first two. My emotions swung wildly from page one, encompassing sweet, tender moments, LOL moments, edge-of-your-seat moments, and heart-wrenching moments. I laughed, cried, and nearly threw my Kindle across the room.

Overall, this book is a reader’s dream come true, wrapped up in a captivating and emotionally charged narrative.

This was an excellent conclusion to a fantastic series. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story and eagerly anticipate what the incredible authors have in store for us next.

Read if you like:

Fated mates, forced proximity, feminine rage, love triangle, low spice, forced proximity, morally ambiguous prince, second chances, found family, plot twists, high stakes, and chosen one.

I am so happy I applied for this ARC. I plowed through this duology (and novella) and having the honor to read this epic conclusion early was so amazing.

This series broke me MULTIPLE times and put me back together again. I truly have rarely felt so shocked and heartbroken as I did while reading this series. I didn’t think it could get worse than it was prior to starting this book, but boy was I wrong. 😅

When I say I CRIED! I was crying off and on for the entire last 35% of this book. It was devastating and beautiful and it wrapped the story up in such a satisfying way, despite all of the tears.

PLEASE PLEASE read this series, I am begging you! It’s fast paced and it will have you feeling all of the feelings. I can’t recommend it enough! And for the love of everything good in the world, read the novella between books one and two and do not skip it!

Oh man what a rollercoaster of emotions and chaos that was. There was so much that occurred during this second book it’s hard to find a place to start. I was furious, overjoyed, devastated, to say the least my emotions were all over the place and I’m not ashamed to say I cried a few times. The writing of this book had me at the edge of my seat as these characters who’ve become so lovable. The continuous change in POV kept everything so interesting. Especially the reunion of Wynn and Ari but be warned this will also hurt your feelings! I loved getting Kal’s POV it was so fun to read his character arc. And don’t get me started on Aella! What a freaking awesome FMC, who despite having everything possible thrown at her she still responded with love and grace. The ending of this series was much like life, a tad bittersweet. I think no matter what you always wish there was more and to know everything and that’s just not how life is. We are left with some answers and the rest is up to the stars. Beautiful ending to an incredible fantasy journey.

✨Received as an ARC for an honest review✨ The Stars Could Save Us by Stephanie Combs and Valerie Rivers is the second book following The Stars Would Curse Us. The book picks up roughly where the first left off, giving a bit more context to Arianwen’s story in the first book. The storyline was at times tragic and heartbreaking, I really wish I could go into a rant about that but no spoilers 😅. I can honestly say I loved about 95% of this book, the last 5% being the ending (really I enjoyed that part too just… less). It just felt sort of rushed and incomplete at the end, which was more apparent because of how well paced the first book and majority of the second book were. Aella’s story felt very incomplete and I am hoping there will be another book to follow up there. Arianwen’s story seemed more complete but I still felt like something was missing. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on specific things as I don’t want to risk spoilers. Overall I did enjoy the book and would absolutely recommend it!

The final and third book of The Stars saga is an absolute emotional ride that I was not prepared for.

Aella finds herself in an impossible situation with a prince who has captured her heart. But to survive her new reality she must learn to play the game and not lose herself in the process.

Prince Kal is drawn to Aella but has to keep his feelings a secret or the suffer the consequences of their unlikely attraction. Having to be two people in the dangerous world while trying to keep his heart safe will be his greatest challenge.

Ari and Verus have a love like no other. I laughed; I wept. I am still recovering from them.

King Wynn discovers a secret so great that it will change his life path. The unexpected discovery will force him to make some hard decisions in the name of love.

This book is filled with adventure, action, love, heartbreak, grief and found family. An amazing story beginning with The Stars Would Curse Us. Valerie and Stephanie did an amazing job creating this world. It is absolutely beautiful and binge worthy.

My heart is still processing....

The Stars Could Save Us is such a fantastic and beautiful conclusion to this series! Each book has been 5 stars for me, but I think this one might be my favorite.

The writing is just so beautiful and the characters are really well crafted. I’ve been so eager for more of these characters, more of this story that I’m feeling a little lost now that it’s over. Kal is one of my favorite MMCs probably ever. I just adore him and his relationship with Aella.

This book was honestly so emotional as well. I spent well over 10 chapters actively fighting back tears (and failing miserably at some points). Steph and Val had me stressing out, but I loved every second of it. The action was great, and the political intrigue with Aella and Kal at court was amazing and addictive.

I genuinely could not recommend this series enough. It’s fantastic from start to finish. I hope to see it get even more love because it really, really deserves it!

Thank you Steph and Val for the early copy of The Stars Could Save Us. All opinions are my own!

Once again we find ourselves in the white void that is this story. Are the authors afraid of adjectives? Did they skip third grade where you learn how to set a scene? Why do they refuse to describe anything?!!!!

They managed to take the only interesting part of book one and take it back.

Why is the ending battle that they build up for 2 books only 1 page long? How many times can we be bothered with Aellas inability to decide if Kal is good or bad? Why is every conversation so forced? How do none of the characters show progress in any way? Why are there sex scenes when this book was clearly written for 12 year olds? And HOW DID 2 PEOPLE DECIDE THIS WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO PUBLISH?!!!

Maybe the real question is why did I finish it? The answer is simple; I’m a hater but I’m an educated hater and you need the whole picture to hate responsibly.

The world the authors built was magnificent. From the characters, to the prophecy, and all the twists and turns along the way; the story was all woven together masterfully. I didn’t want to put it down and devoured all three stories in days. Seriously, it was perfection.

The finale of this series had me on the edge of my seat, crying and then jumping up and down; it was heartbreakingly beautiful. The losses, the romance, the character building, the obstacles, and how it all ties up in the end has left me in a slump in the best way; I don’t know where to move on to after reading it.

I seriously loved this series and I’m so thankful to have discovered these authors, I can’t wait to read more of their work.
