I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.
My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.
Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

I've been waiting for Marnin's story since the beginning and Nora didn't disappoint with this one.
It's truly lovely to see him realise he is worthy of love, that he has love to give to someone too and that his best friend's little brother is the perfect package of sunshine to brighten up his life.
I also appreciated the delicate way Nora dealt with the serious issues this book raises, including the historical child neglect, but also the cancer scare that Marnin goes through.
Neither is sensationalised or trivialised, but the effects of each are clearly portrayed through Marnin's own emotions and fears as he comes to realise Ennio will be there for him no matter what.
Ennio himself, while he's all bright and shining, also has his own insecurities, his fears about being too out there, too obviously gay and he worries it means he won't ever find anyone who'll love him for just being himself.
Circumstances put him in Seattle staying with Marnin and it's here their friendship begins to solidify and then turn into something else. At first it's just friends with benefits because the circumstances work for them both.
It's not long though before they're essentially a couple, even though neither of them is willing to acknowledge it and it's lovely seeing Ennio's confidence grow in himself while Marnin's walls are slowly crumbling because of the unshakable support the younger man gives him.
I've very much enjoyed all the main stories in this series, I'm not sure if there's more to come, but each one has been a great narrative.

Marnin et Ennio avec un Culomètre à 🥵
C'est ce qui s'appelle terminé une saga en beauté bordel !!!
Marnin est le dernier de la bande à ne pas être en couple et ça lui va très bien parce qu'il ne le veut pas. Sauf qu'il est seul, il n'a pas vraiment quelqu'un sur qui compter, quelqu'un qui le voit. Quand sa fatigue physique et mentale joue sur la libido, il décide d'aller voir un spécialiste qui va lui conseiller de tester avec quelqu'un en qui il a confiance. Et ça tombe bien, Ennio, le petit-frère de son meilleur ami Auden, est maintenant là pour lui !
Si vous avez besoin d'un livre chaud, plein de sentiment et très green flag, ce tome et celui qu'il vous faut ! Oui, le scénario n'est pas le plus développé, mais la plume rodée de Nora Phoenix le rend tellement fort, qu'on oublie tout.
Marnin et Ennio sont deux hommes que tout oppose : si le premier ne pense qu'au travail et au sexe, en étant l'archétype de l'homme grognon, Ennio est un jeune homme solaire et plein couleurs qui ne cherche qu'à trouver l'homme idéal. Et il va le trouver en la personne de Marnin, reste désormais à le convaincre et à lui montrer qu'il a besoin de lui dans sa vie !
Cette romance est truffée de moments domestiques adorables et de scènes de sexe aussi folles que romantiques. Marnin sera un vrai pilier dans la vie de Ennio, après qu'un investisseur véreux lui ait pris tout son argent. Et Ennio sera le personnage qui va prendre soin du cœur et du corps de Marnin, anticipant, avant lui, ses besoins pour qu'il puisse enfin se reposer.
C'est vraiment un tome que je pourrais relire avec plaisir quand l'envie me prendra, parce qu'il remplit le cœur d'amour et que parfois, on en a vraiment besoin !
Bref, je suis archi triste de les quitter ! J'espère qu'on aura le droit à des spin-offs !

Comforting the Grump is the fifth book in the Forestville Silver Foxes series, featuring a group of best friends finding love. This rounds out the stories for the main group, and Phoenix also has some shorter stories for other characters set in this same world. While I don’t think you need to read the novellas to follow the main series, I do think reading the novels in order will make this one a richer experience, as the friends appear in each other’s books and you will be familiar with the town and the side characters. (That said, you could probably read this as a standalone if you wanted.)
I am not sure if there is more planned for this main series now that the original group of friends have all gotten their stories, but I really have enjoyed these books. It is rare to get stories for men in their 50s and I have really loved their found family dynamic.

I was very excited about finally being able to read this book, but it turned out to be quite disappointing. Somehow it felt overly dramatic. In one of the first scenes Marnin has a threesome where he can’t perform. And then it happens again. When he’s tested, he immediately thinks it’s cancer. And when he’s at the urologist with Ennio, he first lets the doctor believe Ennio is his partner but then immediately shares with the doctor he has a very lively sex life with all genders. Why? Nobody asked, and nobody cares. I could have done without the numerous repetitions of how good he is in sex as well.
Also we see the new restaurant coming from a mile away. So many unnecessary hints.
(And then there were the open ends: the lodge is bought by a gay couple. Who are they?)
Why 3 stars? I don’t know. I did finish it. And I generally like this author. I did not care for this book though. Such a shame.

Comforting the Grump was a great grumpy / sunshine romance, and Marnin and Ennio's story hit all the right feels for me!
I just adore this series and Marnin's story was a highly anticipated read for me. Marnin had been a bit of a recluse so far in these books - since he wasn't living in Forestville he hadn't been around as much as some of the other characters. He came off as prickly and kind of lonely, but it was also obvious how deeply he cared for his friends and found family. I loved seeing more of Auden and Marnin's connection, as they practically grew up as brothers, and their banter was a lot of fun.
Auden was completely blindsided by Marnin falling for his brother though... Marnin didn't do relationships or attachments, but a little close proximity with Ennio and he didn't really stand a chance. Ennio was a total sweetheart, and the opposite of Marnin in a lot of ways, but they worked so well as a couple. They both went through some rough events, and it was sweet how they took care of each other and found comfort in one another when needed.
Comforting the Grump was an emotional story at times, with some fantastic hurt / comfort, and seeing Marnin find his happiness by making Ennio happy was precious! There were some heavier topics as well, and Nora Phoenix had me sobbing through a few chapters (including the prologue...), but it was overall a beautiful and heartwarming romance. This series is amazing, and I really hope that there will be more stories from Forestville!

COMFORTING THE GRUMP hit me solidly in my feels. There is something about this series that just hits different.
Marnin, the self proclaimed manwhore, certified grump, and serial non-dater meets his match in Ennio, his best friend's little brother. Ennio is glitter and sunshine and romance. He's got big dreams.
CTG has ah-maze-ing found family, best friend, small town vibes, and an age gap. There are BIG feelings that pack a serious punch. I loved them so much 😭
Chapter 27. When Marnin goes to Forestville to talk to Ennio & Auden's dad. I was SOBBING THE ENTIRE TIME.
The Foster brothers cameo makes me want a reread of that series so badly. It was a perfect peek.
Watching Marnin open up and peel back his layers was so special. He was an amazing character. Truly. I think he was my favorite from the entire series. With York a very close second.
Ennio was lovely. The scene at the doctors office, when Marnin was comparing Ennio to a beautiful vibrant bird... I knew then I'd be swept away right along with him into love. Oof. Right in my feels.
I can't tell you how much I adore this series. If you're looking for a contemporary series with mature mcs finding their HEAs, you can't go wrong with the Forestville Silver Foxes and all the bonus novellas.

Ennio Frant è il fratellino dello sceriffo Auden ( uno dei 3 migliori amici-fratelli di Marnin )
È un ragazzo dolcissimo, sfrontato, colorato come un raggio di sole e molto testardo.
Un grosso problema sessuale da parte di Marnin, un grosso problema di truffa ai danni di Ennio, li porteranno a convinvere insieme e a diventare amici con benefici!!

Nora is still an auto-buy for me. I was close to tears by the end. Great writing, as always.
This is a nitpick -- both MCs seemed a lot younger than they were supposed to be. The younger MC showed zero basic financial literacy. He thought his retirement savings were in his (low interest) savings account?! His balance had been steadily decreasing over years but he never noticed once?! Not to mention, poor judgement hooking up in a club setting (I won't spoil it too much). I would bet this guy was a 20 year old, not a 35 year old. The older MC was experiencing but I don't associate that with age specifically (think Fearne Hill Dipped in Sunshine or Eli Easton The Trouble With Tony). He felt more like a confident 35-40 year old. For a good example of an MC on the cusp of 50, check out September.

Un po' troppo sdolcinato, ma marnin e meraviglioso!

What else can I say about Marnin’s story except that it’s sweet and so perfectly him? As a guy who’s pretty sure of himself and his confirmed bachelor status, I didn’t think a character could exist who’d change his mind. I’m happy to say I was wrong - so very, very wrong. He finds his happily ever after in this fantastic, age gap, brother's best friend, small town romance.
Although they're united by a series of unfortunate circumstances, the connection between Marnin & Ennio is everything. Nothing like a little trauma bonding to bring people closer together, right? In this case, Marnin leaning on his best friend’s little brother is so natural yet unexpected until they just feel inevitable. I’d like to think the kind of connection between them is what happens when life forces you to slow down and really see someone for who they truly are. And when that someone is the one thing missing from your life you never knew you needed? Well, that’s something truly amazing.
It’s always great to return to Forestville, and this story brings the usual found family vibes of these older MCs. Their bond is stronger than ever, and it’s easy to fall into the warmth and comfort they share. I definitely recommend making the trip!

And when that someone is the one thing missing from your life you never knew you needed? Well, that’s something truly amazing.
It’s always great to return to Forestville, and this story brings the usual found family vibes of these older MCs. Their bond is stronger than ever, and it’s easy to fall into the warmth and comfort they share. I definitely recommend making the trip!

I was looking forward to Marnin but I was a bit disappointed in the end. I wanted a bit more pull and shove from Marnin but he ended up being quite sweet and did not fight their relationship all that much, which I expected from his character. It was nice seeing them together but it just didn't hit the right spot for me.

For some reason, I didn't feel like I connected with the characters in this one. I found Ennio a bit annoying and naive, the plot a bit predictable and loose ends not really tied up properly. I'm not sure we needed the whole lost money plot at all, it just added to the melodrama with the abruptly dropped cancer plot.

I love the grumpy/sunshine trope but Marnin wasn’t very grumpy and Ennio was a sweetheart but he didn’t shine. They were very sweet together though.
The emotions didn’t reach further than the surface and I definitely missed chemistry. They kind of just decided to become FWB. Plot points that could have created great drama (I looooove drama) were easily solved.

Marnin has not had what you called an easy life, but he has found a way to cope and persevere. He may be blunt, but he's a beautiful soul who will do anything and everything for those he cares for. When Ennio loses his job, he turns to Marnin for a place to stay and start afresh. These two build a bond so strong it's no surprise. Ennio is the one to break those barriers Marnin has constructed to protect himself from further pain. These two are just so dang beautiful together that it's no surprise they will make each other better and able to thrive. With the help and support of the Forestville community, they move forward and are able to see the other side.
I'm not going to lie. I was apprehensive at first to read Marnins story he just wasn't my cup of tea. Then you see him for who and why he is and you get it. You get it all and hope that when he finds his person, he can be who he was always meant to be. Have loved each of these stories, yet this one hits different, it's more powerful and just an amazing read. If this is what 2025 is going to look like from Nora, we are in for an amazing journey once again this coming year.

Se vi siete avvicinati a questo romanzo perché amate la tematica age gap, temo che rimarrete delusi, perché è davvero poco toccata. I protagonisti sono entrambi adulti, anche se hanno circa una ventina d’anni di differenza. Più rilevante, forse, è l’aspetto forbidden legato al legame quasi familiare: Marnin è stato allevato dalla famiglia di Ennio, che è il fratello più giovane del suo migliore amico. Non riuscire a considerarlo come un fratello lo fa sentire in colpa. Ennio, d’altro canto, era sempre stato attratto da lui fin da ragazzino, ma il romanzo non si è particolarmente curato di approfondire neppure questo aspetto.
Per tutto il tempo che ci volle ai suoi respiri di regolarsi con il ritmo del sonno, io stetti seduto in silenzio sul letto, con lo sguardo fisso sul suo viso pacifico. Le linee severe che erano solite aggrottare la sua fronte si erano attenuate, rivelando una vulnerabilità che durante il giorno Marnin teneva protetta dietro una fortezza di sarcasmo. Era come guardare i muri crollare ed esporre i mattoni grezzi delle sue paure e delle sue speranze, e di nuovo venni pervaso da un senso di protezione nei suoi confronti.
Avevamo conosciuto Ennio nei precedenti volumi della serie: è un ragazzo gay civettuolo e pieno di vitalità, che ama dare alla sua immagine un tocco di femminilità e di colore. Non si vergogna di ciò che è. Ama, anzi, fare colpo. L’ho trovato un personaggio un po’ stereotipato, tuttavia è sulla carta il partner ideale per un “vecchio” brontolone come Marnin.
Benestante e abituato a ottenere troppo facilmente ciò che desidera, Marnin ha dato fondo a tutte le sue fantasie poliamorose, soddisfacendo il suo grande appetito sessuale con una varietà di partner di diverso tipo. All’improvviso inizia a manifestare problemi di erezione, cosa che lo porta a fare accertamenti e a temere il peggio. In questa fase di preoccupazione per la propria salute, trova in Ennio un inaspettato sostegno, e i due uomini si avvicinano molto, sia fisicamente che emotivamente.
Marnin è una persona chiusa, che si tiene distante dai sentimenti a causa del suo passato.
Il rapporto con Ennio nasce e si sviluppa con l’accordo di concentrarsi sulla componente sessuale a scopo terapeutico, ed entrambi lo vivono serenamente fino al punto in cui si accorgono che si sono aggiunti molti altri ingredienti, quali tenerezza, conforto, quotidianità, benessere, protettività… sostanzialmente tutto ciò che compone l’amore.
«Io sono un partner sicuro,» gli dissi dolcemente. «Posso anche non essere il tuo compagno come pensava l’urologo, ma sono una persona con cui puoi sentirti al sicuro. È ciò di cui ora hai bisogno, ed è qualcosa che sono felice di darti.» Inoltre, ma non lo dissi ad alta voce, il sesso era il modo preferito di Marnin per affrontare quelle fastidiose emozioni che odiava tanto.
Ennio è sempre stato il più giovane della famiglia, teme di deludere i genitori e il fratello, che lo trattano sempre come un bambino. E quando viene truffato e rischia di perdere tutti i suoi risparmi prova un senso di frustrazione e di fallimento che logorano ulteriormente la sua autostima.
Marvin, con i suoi apprezzamenti e la mancanza di giudizio, riesce a dargli quella botta di fiducia in se stesso di cui sente estremo bisogno. Essere appoggiato da qualcuno che lo vede come candido anziché credulone, scintillante anziché eccentrico, lo rende orgoglioso e lo conquista.
«Non riesco a smettere di pensare a lui. Ogni piccola cosa che fa… È come se lo vedessi per la prima volta, capisci? E ci sono tutti questi sentimenti dentro di me che non riconosco nemmeno, tutta questa roba sdolcinata e melensa. Non mi sono mai sentito così, e non so cosa fare.»
Nel complesso, la storia in sé è piuttosto semplice. Vengono toccati temi importanti quali il cancro alla prostata e l’impotenza, ma in modo leggero. È una storia romantica e passionale con uno svolgimento molto tradizionale, senza grande suspense. Tutto punta su dichiarazioni sdolcinate e sullo sviluppo emotivo di una persona chiusa che pian piano si scioglie.
Le caratterizzazioni sono appena abbozzate. È vero che Marvin ha un passato difficile che deve affrontare, ma non troveremo dei personaggi che bucano le pagine.
Lo stile è quasi certosino: sgrana minuto dopo minuto i fatti che si verificano, senza accelerare particolarmente il ritmo, senza creare suspense, senza privarci di momenti noiosi evitabili. Questo da un lato ci fa calare nell’ambientazione, dall’altro ci fa desiderare di saltare delle righe.

Questo è un mantra che chiunque dovrebbe seguire, più di tutti chi ha paura di essere un pericolo per gli altri. Marnin ha la convinzione di essere potenzialmente una bomba a orologeria pronta a deflagrare e a distruggere qualsiasi rapporto stia vivendo e persona gli sia accanto. Ha avuto genitori biologici che lo hanno abbandonato e maltrattato, che non hanno mai visto in lui il figlio da accudire e crescere, ma solo un problema o un pungiball. La sua fortuna è stata trovare una famiglia disposta ad accettarlo sempre e solo per quello che era, senza mai imporsi, ma lasciandogli la libertà di avere un porto sicuro in cui fermarsi quando il suo mare personale era troppo tempestoso. Lo sceriffo Frant e sua moglie lo hanno accolto, gli hanno creato uno spazio in cui lui potesse essere sereno e avesse tutto ciò di cui un bambino e un ragazzo può avere bisogno. I genitori di Auden sono diventati presto per Marnin le figure protettive ed esempi da seguire per crescere in modo onesto. Il suo timore che il DNA possa essere più forte dell’educazione, lo porta ad aver paura di se stesso, a convincersi che presto o tardi arriverà il momento in cui sarà violento come il padre o un fuggitivo come la madre. È questo terrore profondo che lo porta ad alienarsi da chiunque, salvo i suoi più cari amici d’infanzia che lo conoscono da quando era solo e portava sul corpo i segni inferti dal padre. Nessuno può scavare così a fondo nella sua corazza per crearsi uno spazio proprio vicino al suo cuore, meno ancora nessuno può arrivare al suo cuore. A causa di questa solitudine emotiva costruita negli anni, arrivato a cinquant’anni è solo davvero quando deve affrontare un momento difficoltoso. Trovarsi per caso vicino ad Ennio, da sempre visto come il fratellino di Auden e null’altro, lo destabilizza. Marnin si ritrova per la prima volta a cercare un’altra persona per il desiderio di non essere solo, per la voglia di stare insieme. Con Ennio tutto parte in modo semplice, facile. Sono due uomini soli, consapevoli di cosa non vogliono e arrivati a un bivio nella loro vita. È il momento per ripartire da zero, forse anche per provare nuove strade, nuovi benefici pensando di essere solo gentili e disponibili.
Il risultato di questo libro non è una trama innovativa, ma importa quando lo svolgimento è gestito in modo, a mio gusto, perfetto? Tutte le debolezze di Marnin sono esposte, tutte le sue paure sono spiegate e tutto il bene che nasconde anche a se stesso esce pian piano, con difficoltà, ma è lì, c’è sempre. Nel suo percorso di consapevolezza ha bisogno di essere accettato, di perdonarsi in anticipo per ciò che potrà fare e ha la necessità di sentirsi desiderato per ciò che è, con la sua forza e tutte le sue debolezze. È un universo di punti indefiniti che trova la sua definizione negli occhi di Ennio. Proprio di quello che sembra così debole e frivolo per come vuole vestirsi, ma che invece sa cosa vuole, come lo vuole e fino a dove può spingersi senza farsi troppo male. Ennio trova in Marnin l’uomo che non pensava fosse, la persona che vede oltre le paillettes, il compagno che lo ama per ogni sua sfaccettatura e che non ha più paura di dimostrarsi innamorato a ogni sguardo.

I have been waiting for Marnin's book from the beginning of this series and it did not disappoint. Marnin Rosser is the broody, snarky, grumpy, loner of this group of friends. He grew up with his best friend, Auden, but left Forestville behind to live in Seattle. He is guarded and hooks up often but does not do relationships. He is a realist, pessimist, and lives an ordered, gray, controlled life. Due to his past, he feels like he is not worthy or capable of real love.
Ennio Frant is Auden's younger brother who is thirteen years their junior. He is a sweet, sassy, stubborn, vibrant, impulsive, sunshiny Chef. He likes pretty things, shiny clothes, make-up, and standing out. He is passionate and longs to find true love, but the pickings in Forestville are getting pretty slim. So he casts a wider net in Seattle and Marnin lets him stay with him.
Both men have some issues going on in their lives and they find themselves supporting the other and finding a deeper, unexpected connection. They have strong physical chemistry and start a friends-with-benefits arrangement. But they also seem to fit in each other's lives better than they ever expected. But Marnin has walls up and big fears to go along with his new big feelings. And Ennio is afraid to even hope that Marnin would want all of him and is trying to figure out what to do about his own future.
This is an emotional, passionate, opposites-attract, best-friend's-little-brother, grumpy-sunshine, age-gap, hurt-comfort romance. I loved seeing into the cracks of Marnin's tough facade to his soft heart. Ennio is so colorful and optimistic and spreads light into his dark world. But Marnin also gives Ennio the support, respect, and acceptance he craves. It was beautiful to see them start to grow and change together and live fuller lives than they hoped for. I loved them together and enjoyed more with the Forestville characters as well as some other cameos.

Marnin ha avuto un’infanzia difficile, per fortuna, con lui vi era Auden il suo migliore amico. Ora Marnin è un uomo maturo, con un lavoro redditizio nella grande Seattle, lontano dalle sofferenze di Forestville. Da sempre rifiuta di provare qualsivoglia sentimento di amore o di affetto, nascondendosi dietro una maschera di freddo sarcasmo. La sua routine, però, subisce una battuta d’arresto quando, un evento di salute lo sconvolge a tal punto da dover ricorrere a delle visite specialistiche. Seguo Nora Phoenix da anni, oramai, e la sua penna, così come i suoi intrecci narrativi, sono da sempre sinonimo di garanzia di felicità per me. Un ritmo leggero e incalzante, che invoglia a proseguire, caratterizza le pagine di questo Gay Romance contemporaneo. Sono stata proprio catapultata al fianco dei protagonisti e dei personaggi secondari. Con loro ho vissuto momenti bellissimi, tristi e pieni di speranza; questi due splendidi uomini mi hanno fatta sognare e innamorare. L’autrice affronta in modo magistrale e delicato i temi dell’abuso di alcol e di violenze su minori, come ben segnalato ad inizio lettura dai trigger warning. L’intreccio narrativo è semplicemente spettacolare e coinvolgente in tutto e per tutto, così ben equilibrato, con una storia d’amore che nasce in punta di piedi, caratterizzata da uno sviluppo graduale e realistico di un sentimento puro, che traspare capitolo dopo capitolo. Ho percepito ogni loro tumulto, ogni paura del futuro, ogni loro sentimento. Le scene spicy sono letteralmente infuocate, ben fatte e mai uguali.
Ho amato tantissimo sia Ennio che Marnin, impossibile non affezionarcisi, insieme si completano e si comprendono in modo viscerale, come un puzzle ben amalgamato. Una delle cose che più amo dello stile dell’autrice è il fatto che la coppia si consolida ben prima del termine della lettura, dando modo di assistere a un rapporto vero e che affronta i problemi della vita insieme. Entrambi i protagonisti hanno infatti un bellissimo percorso di crescita e maturazione, sia come singoli che, appunto, come coppia.
Concludo perciò dicendo che Un brontolone da confortare è il quinto volume autoconclusivo della serie, eppure ogni volume può essere letto come stand alone. Difatti, nonostante per me sia la prima lettura di questa serie affascinante e meravigliosa, non ha fatto altro che acuire la mia voglia smisurata di riprendere dal primo volume e recuperarli uno dopo l’altro. Insomma, se siete alla ricerca di un Romance M/M dolce e romantico, in grado di emozionarvi nel profondo e sognare il più bello dei lieto fine, non potete assolutamente perdere Un brontolone da confortare.

La verdad me esperaba mucho drama de parte de Marnin, dado que habiendo visto su personalidad en otros libros, yo esperaba que él hiciera sufrir a Ennio, pero fue todo lo contrario.
Sinceramente de las relaciones mas bonitas y sanas que he leido en los libros, tanto Marnin como Ennio se apoyaban tanto mutuamente que su relacion fue lo mas bonito de leer, Marnin tiene muchas problemas, su infancia, adolescencia e incluso la juventud fue muy difícil y dura para el, asi que obviamente en la actualidad al jamas haber tratado esos traumas pues esta bastante mal psicológicamente hablando, en cuanto a Ennio la verdad ame al chico, era como una estrella o una luz brillante con esa personalidad hermosa que tenia.
Me encanto que aunque es la tipica historia de "me enamore del hermano menor de mi mejor amigo o me enamore del mejor amigo de mi hermano" no fue cliché ni toxica como otras historias. Al inicio cuando lei la sinopsis me dije, como es posible que estos dos se enamoren justo ahora cuando se han conocido prácticamente toda su vida y la respuesta me llego conforme empecé a leer el libro, empecemos con que, Marnin es muy cerrado en cuanto a sus sentimientos, no deja entrar a las personas facilmente, se cierra y no habla sobre sus problemas ni sobre su vidia, todo lo contrario a Ennio que es una persona super alegre abierta y extrovertida, asi que relamente nunca hubo un acercamiento hasta que por circunstancias del destino Marnin la estaba pasando mal y Ennio estuvo ahi para el volviéndose su confidente, y estando a su lado en cada paso de la dificil situación en la que estaba, lo mismo paso con Ennio, Marnin estuvo para el ahi tambien cuando Ennio lo necesito, no lo juzgo y lo apoyo totalmente, se empezaron a conocer bien por prinera vez y comenzaron a abrirse entre ellos, y eso hizo que se enamoraran, por eso es que apesar de haberse conocido por tantos años, ellos nunca se habian relacionado, Marnin siendo cerrado y Ennio todo lo contrario hizo que chocaran y no fue hasta que Marnin estuvo dispuesto a abrir sus sentimientos que por fin estos dos se dieron la oportunidad de estar juntos.
Marnin es de mis personajes favoritos, es muy realista y muy humano, vivio demasiado en su juventud y aun asi sobrevivio y salio adelante, tal vez no sobrellevo sus problemas y traumas de la mejor manera ni de la forma correcta pero se mantuvo firme por años y eso es impresionante, definitivamente Ennio es la persona que faltaba en su vida.

A Fitting End to a Brilliant Series❤️
This has been a brilliant series. I have loved all the characters and it has made a nice change to read about mature men in their 40s. We might have come to the end of the series but Marnin and Ennio took us out with a bang.
Marnin is the last of the school friends to find his HEA. He has issues and has built walls to protect himself, never letting anyone get close, sleeping his way around Seattle, it didn’t matter to him if he was sharing a bed with one or more it was one and done, until suddenly the stud muffin finds he can’t perform. This leaves him terrified and running off to see Fir in Forestville for a diagnosis. It doesn’t occur to him that he might just be bored with the whole scene and need something more meaningful. When he is very drunk and Ennio takes him home Ennio tells him that he will go with him to see the specialist and assures him he does not have to do this alone.
Ennio is the sunshine to Marnin’s major grump, he is also Marnin’s best friend Sheriff Auden’s younger brother. Ennio is a sparkly gay and no one is going to dim his shine, he also decides he wants Marnin and the grump doesn’t stand a chance.
This book had all the feels and it made me cry. Auden’s dad, the old sheriff of Forestville had some of the best lines. Marnin’s mum left him when he was 2 with an abusive alcoholic father and it was only the fact that Auden Frant was his best friend that saved him as the sheriff and his lovely wife Sarah protected him and became his surrogate parents and he and Auden grew up like brothers.
I loved Marnin and Ennio’s HEA and it was a fitting end to a wonderful series and the fact that we got to catch up with all the other silver foxes and their partners and even caught up with the Foster brothers was the icing on the cake.
Thank you Nora for another brilliant series.

When Nora said in the interlude that the story might make you cry, I was skeptical.. I should've took her warning more seriously because Marnin and Ennio definitely made me tear up a bit.
Comforting the Grump is a beautiful romance story that really highlights found family, and what support from someone can really do to a person's well-being. I loved how bright Ennio is throughout the whole story, he is a radiant ray of sunshine who may trust too easily, but that's because he always tries to see the good in people. Even though Ennio kept getting knocked down in different ways, he kept persisting. He was determined to get back up again, and I loved his tenacity!
Him with Marnin was also fantastic! Since I'm describing Ennio as a ray of sunshine then I'll describe Marnin as a storm cloud. He's a bit of a grump who's sworn off of feelings, he doesn't believe he is made for a loving relationship.. but with Ennio by his side he realizes that he's had loving relationships most of his life. Sure the people who gave him his DNA were awful, but his true parents, the ones who raised him, showed him what true love really is. And the moment when Marnin realizes that himself?!? Cue tears! The scene where he goes from calling Auden's dad "Sheriff" to calling him dad was also another moment when tears were welling up. It was just so sweet!! Especially because throughout the story we really get to see Marnin's character grow, evolve, and adapt.
Ennio and Marnin may have started off as friends with benefits but they became so much more to each other. These two just work together so beautifully. Marnin is the calm, steady, analytical one, and Ennio is the happy go lucky, fun, whimsy one. They compliment the other so perfectly! I really enjoyed this story, it's full of love in many forms, and I loved how found family was highlighted in here.

Devo dirvi subìto che non avrei mai creduto di finire la serie con un pianto, ma tant'è!
Volume 5 della serie: "I Silver Fox di Forestville: UN BRONTOLONE DA CONFORTARE" di Nora Phoenix.
Marnin è l'uomo più distaccato del gruppo, ha un legame profondo con i suoi amici, che sono la sua famiglia, ma non manifesta mai sentimenti. Pensa di non aver necessità di rapporti duraturi. Ama il sesso e tutto ciò che è consenziente a lui va bene, non giudica nessuno e non gliene importa nulla di esserlo.
Tutto è molto interessante fino a quando il suo corpo decide di mandargli segnali inequivocabili e lui deve prendere atto che qualcosa si è rotto.
Il timore del cancro lo mette davanti ad una visione diversa di ciò che ha sempre creduto.
Ennio Frant è il fratellino del suo migliore amico Auden, colui che lo ha salvato da ragazzo, quando la sua famiglia non lo faceva, lui e il signor Frant che lo hanno sempre trattato come un figlio, un fratello.
Ma Ennio è diverso, è un raggio di sole pieno di colori, qualcuno che ha un cuore aperto verso gli altri, che ha fiducia nel prossimo, anche se questo vuol dire delusioni.
Nel momento più oscuro per Marnin, Ennio decide di esserci, che sarà la spalla su cui potrà appoggiarsi e questo porterà i nostri protagonisti a trasformare il loro rapporto in un'amicizia. Mano a mano che condividono momenti, Ennio scopre l'uomo nascosto dietro la maschera, colui che crede di non meritare amore, perché "sporcato" da una famiglia che non gli ha insegnato come si può amare, donarsi.
Peccatrici, questo viaggio mi ha emozionato, e come ho detto all'inizio, ad un certo punto mentre leggevo, mi sono scoperta a piangere, Marnin mi ha travolto, perché non me lo aspettavo...

I really enjoyed this story; I've been waiting for Marnin's story for a while. His emotional walls and resistance to relationships is almost legendary among his friends and others who know him. Marnin has had a wonderful best friend in Auden since childhood, and Ennio is Auden's little brother. When Marnin got some concerning news and mades unusual choices, Ennio made sure to help. Meanwhile, Ennio has his own problems that seem to be multiplying, ones that impact all aspects of his life. Marnin offers to help Ennio and they settle into an arrangement that neither expected, but they are honest from the start about what it is.
Marnin's childhood was heartbreaking. I was so happy that he had Auden's family supporting him as best they could for so long. I loved watching Marnin find himself in situations he couldn't rationalize away and learning that being comfortable with another person in his space was appealing and better than he ever thought. I loved watching him own the situation he's in and not holding back when others ask about what was developing between he and Ennio. I loved that Ennio went in with his eye open and accepted Marnin as he was even as Ennio's feelings were changing. I loved the birthday party, when Ennio got so much of the validation that he needed for so long. I loved that Marnin found so many ways to help Ennio. Seeing Marnin with his walls down and being so attentive to Ennio was beautiful. Marnin's growth and acceptance of the changes in his life was all I could have asked for. Ennio was a perfect match to Marnin, and I liked seeing him become more confident and accepting help to get to his dream.
While you probably could read this as a standalone, I think it's much richer experience with more understanding of Marnin's friends from the previous books. If you haven't started this series yet, I highly recommend them all.
