Consumed is the third and final book in a medium burn reverse harem romance series, and contains dark themes which some readers may not enjoy. Content warnings are available on the author's website.
Devyn Sinclair writes steamy Reverse Harem romances for your wildest fantasies. Every sexy story is packed with the right amount steam, fiery hot men, and delicious happy endings.
She lives in the wilds of Montana in a small red house with a crazy orange cat. When Devyn's not writing, she spends time outside in big sky country, continues her quest to find the best lemon pastry there is, drinks a lot of tea and buys too many books. (Of course!)
The epic fantasy that is the Inertia series concludes with Consumed, the third book in the series and it was everything. I loved it with all of my being.
Safiya has gone through an antagonizing ordeal and has survived, but she's getting tired of fighting, but she does it anyway. It's not in her nature to give in and she fights for every little bit of happiness she has. Safiya was different in this book, this was the freer she has been in a long time and I loved that she got to experience new things, made friends, and was able to just be.
Omg, I am so in love with Safi's guys. They show their love and devotion to Safiya in all the little ways and they communicate with not only each other but with Safi ad well. There were a lot of deep, emotional scenes with the guys that just had my heart. Particularly, there was this one thing going on that led to multiple scenes where the guys made my heart pitter-patter with happiness. Their love for Safiya runs incredibly deep, I'm so jealous.
I love the world Devyn has created, with old gods, and ancient sites, filled with magic, history, and even a touch of mystery. The whole gang ends up in the kingdom of Aur Kota, it was interesting seeing a place that Mallum hasn't destroyed with his madness. They live in harmony, respectful of everyone, inert, kalo, and non-magic users alike. They worship the old gods and have beautiful temples, amazing libraries, and more. The magic feels different in this book, the whole vibe of this book is about beauty and freedom.
Consumed really tugged at my emotions, mostly it was Safiya and the guys. I loved that Devyn brought up the questions that have been plaguing me and did a fantastic job explaining and theorizing things. A good chunk of my questions was answered. I truly loved this series and Devyn did an awesome job of wrapping up Safiya's story, I loved the ending. Devyn is one of the authors I love so I'll be around for whatever new adventure she starts next.
Last books in series are always special. It's the moment you notice how attached you've become to the characters. It's when you find out that you're really rooting for their happy ending. It's also the moment you know you eventually have to let the characters and their world go. This series was really intense and therefore also really addictive. I was therefore really curious about this book, but also a little sad because it meant this was over. But, I got an arc and I eventually just wanted to read it.
In every way this is quite clearly the last book in the series. Where the previous books were dramatic, filled with horrible moments and conversations, this book quite quickly showed us what a happily ever after could look like. And then all of a sudden it reminded us again that we weren't there yet. Our characters had a few more things to do before they really could be free and could live their lives in peace and probably far away from the people.
The beginning of the book is intense, but then the book calms down a little. And in a way I missed the fire and action, but the closer I came to the end of the book, the more I hoped that what was waiting for our characters in the finale wouldn't be too bad. They've been through so much. They've dealt with so much abuse and violence. And even though I still would have loved to get to know the guys a little better as not-love interests I had started caring about this group of people.
Since this is the finale and since the author did a great job building towards it, not many things come as a huge surprise. However, I was very positively surprised that there was still so much mythology in this last book! We had heard quite a lot about the Gods and the magic in the previous books, but in this book everything became a little more real and vivid. If the author wishes there are a lot of spin-offs possible. If she ever writes them, I'll read them.
This was by far my favorite book of the series! The world this author has put together for us is so complex and amazing and I am in awe of the attention to detail with it all. Officially saying goodbye to Safiya and her men is bittersweet. I absolutely adored all of these characters and would have loved to see an extended epilogue. That being said, I am super happy with how it ended and am just sad to see it end.
Like the other two books, this book starts right off where we ended, and it swirls into a mystery with talks of the ancients and questions on if or isn't the touchstone a real thing and how do we keep Malum from it!
This book also cemented the relationship between Safiya, Tristan, Roan, Kestrel, Adrian and Mor. Their love for each other was soul crushing and beautiful and the author did an amazing job capturing it all. Even I was moved with it all and I absolutely fell in love with all of her men!
"What souls are bound, not even the gods can separate."
Overall, this was an amazing. I loved every bit of it and wish it wasn't coming to an end.
"We were just...people. Nothing more and nothing less."
*Overall 5/5 *Heat? 4/5 *Multiple first person POV *MFMMM *Ends in HEA
Consumed, the third book in the Inertia series by Devyn Sinclair was the perfect conclusion to this riveting series. Sinclair is a master at developing new worlds and creating characters that capture your heart and it was a tad sad to finally gave this series come to an end—but man was it worth the wait!
Picking up right where the last book left us, this story doesn’t hold back punches as Safiya and her men continue to fight for their HEA and battle against the emperor and all his evil ways. The growth that these characters experienced, Saf in particular, was fabulous to see as well as the back history. Having bringing questions finally answered made this the ultimate conclusion, and even though I’m sad to see the end is here, I love how it all came to be.
Overall this story was jam packed with tons of action, emotions, steamy heat and enough twists yo keep you guessing and is a definite just read for anyone who’s been following this series. If you love your men sexy, protective and willing to do anything for their women then this is definitely the one for you.
Devastated that it’s over but what an ending. I honestly had no clue how they’d be able to achieve success no matter how hard I tried to think of a solution, so this was an amazing surprise. I loved not being able to predict this ending.
Devyn did an amazing job of the growth of these characters. All of them, even some side characters. The relationships, the love, the healing, all of it just made me feel like I grew with them. I’m glad our FMC didn’t just spontaneously get over her trauma in some overnight moment, trauma like hers take lifetimes to heal. It was refreshing to see her have a healthy life, but admit to needing to heal. Very realistic.
The plot of this series was well planned and executed. I felt like things progressed in a natural way and they didn’t save the world in like 4 days in some unreal dramatic fashion. The loose ends were brought together and tied up beautifully.
Captivating Conclusion 💜 Wow you really feel for Safiya and her men in this one! It feels like they come so far to just fall short and that HEA might be as mythical as this Touchstone they’re searching for 😩 Once having to prove their innocence through an unexpected acquaintance they seek refuge in new lands with the barrier now between them and Malum 😃 but sadly that means nothing for the Inertia bond he forced on Saf and he maliciously uses that connection between them 😠 despite this and Safs fears about what it means for her, her men are with her every step of the way! And they provide her with the love and support she needs….boy are these men smitten for her 🥰 and in this book they certainly act on their feelings now they’re all back together 😜 With Malum closing in they know the Touchstone might be the only way to stop him and this is certainly a magical quest with betrayals, heartache and danger along the way! 🫣 Thankfully Devyn gives us, along with Saf and her men the conclusion we need 😃
This was a fab finale for this engaging series and I'm so glad to report that we got answers to all those questions hanging over us from the previous books ;) The world building continued to be outstanding in this last addition to the series, and so were all the emotions. There were some unexpected twists but I'm thrilled that Saf and her guys got the HEA they so richly deserved, despite the odds stacked against them. This entire series was a wild reading ride and I can't wait to see what the author brings to us next!
Oh my goodness! I am so happy with the ending of this book and series. I am super sad for it to end as we have been through so much with Safiya and her men. We do get a glimpse of the past and come to understand the inerts and their purpose. We get to watch Saf grow from this poor captured girl into the woman she is meant to be. We get to see how the series progresses and see how they work to be safe from Malum as they hunt for the touchstone. I am sooo happy that this series ends with a HEA.
Great ending to the series. Saify’s and her men go through so much in the course of the series and this book not only ties up loose ends , it gives them the HEA they deserve. So much action and drama not to mention the steam and romance of it all. I had all the feelings through this series and am sorry it is over. Highly recommend.
Saf and her men are in another kingdom and are still tasked with finding the touchstone. She has to fight the pain that Malum puts on her through the bond while trying to find a way to break it. On self discovery to learn more of the purpose for inerts. Loved.
The Inertia series is one that will forever stick with me. Safiya and her men are some of the strongest and sweetest characters I've read about. Not one of them has had an easy past and they have grown and survived in spite of that. It is what sets them apart from others in this world. The ones that strive for power, the ones that just accept their place and don't push for me. Somehow the Lorem are a bit in between--powerful yet not thirsty for the power and pushing themselves to be more but doing what they have to to survive. As for Safiya, a true Inert, although lacking power, she still holds a lot of it because of her ability to ground an extreme amount of kol. She's something to be coveted but is constantly taken advantage of because of the role of Inerts in the kingdom. Even in times when she is coveted, it is as an object, not as a person--until the Lorem come around. They are beyond perfect for one another and I loved seeing their relationship grow throughout this series.
This final book wasn't as action packed as the other two and it slowed down quite a bit in comparison as the group searched for the touchstone, but I did appreciate that the focus switched to the history and information regarding the gods. Throughout this entire series there weren't many details about the Inerts, what they were capable of, how they came to being, etc and I'm glad we finally get to discover the backstory to everything, the story that many in the kingdoms weren't aware of. It was all so fascinating to learn about and to see what was really true and what was just speculation that developed along the way.
The taste of freedom that Safiya and her men got in this book was a welcome relief. They had been running for so long that it was nice to see them get a bit of a break to just be people and enjoy the normal things like spending time with one another, making friends, and exploring the town. Don't be fooled, it wasn't a walk in the park the entire time but something that they definitely needed to sort of reset themselves and not have to worry about Malum the entire time. And lucky for us, we got to reap the benefits and see quite a bit of sweet and touching moments between Safiya and her men, some revelations about inerts, and see bonds form and change that would be important for the future. It may not have been a rough and tumble type of book, but still very satisfying to read. I loved this series.
I was both excited and a bit said to be diving back into the Inertia series. It's the final book and I honestly didn't want to finish the book because that would mean the story for Safiya is over.
Saf has gone through SO much and even though she's tired of fighting she knows that she must continue the fight. I loved the change we were able to witness in this final book, with Saf was incredible. She has made friends, happy, free and just be able to just, exist. And her guys?! UGH, Devyn really knows how to pick some great guys for these women that she creates. The guys got closer together, to make sure they could communicate well with each other as well with Saf. Their love for Safiya runs deep into their bones and I loved reading all about it, made my heart melt.
The world that Inertia is built in was so unique, ancient sites, magic, history, a little mystery, and old gods. The magic that happens in this book was so different to read, and I loved when they end up in the final kingdom, how different everything is. The ending is filled with freedom, beauty, togetherness and acceptance. If you haven't read this series yet, definitely start it, you'll love it.
Devyn, you did a spectacular job with the guys and Safiya, pulling the reader in and allowing us to fall in love with these characters. She made sure that the story came full circle, all the questions were answered, and wrapped up Safiya's story beautifully. I loved this entire series and I can't wait to read what Devyn writes next!
Devyn has impressed me from the beginning of the Inertia series. Her style is evocative and rooted deep in the mythology of her created world. Consumed is filled with language and descriptions, actions and contemplations, that suit a fantasy series superbly. This is not modern, slang filled sentences set in a magical land. There is poetry in the pages that will keep you both running towards the end, and slowing down to savor how completely you've saturated yourself in a new world. This sort of writing style deliciously full of details from the food to the smells, to the clothes, and you'll have a perfect picture of the world Safiya and her men are living in.
Safiya started this series traumatized and wounded, but possessing a small and undimmed light of fighting nature. It has taken three books to pull it to the forefront, and I've loved every minute of her true nature shedding the cloying grasp of Malum. Her Harem is no less prominent, and their dedication is so steadfast and pure, that it never seemed claustrophobic, even when their love was tinged with terror over possible harms to Safiya's person. This third entry gave us the clash with Malum we anticipated, the swift arm of justice, and a conclusion that is both sweet, and filled with the love Safiya, Mor, Tristan, Roan, Adrian, and Kestrel.
“I could barely comprehend the feeling in my chest—true and utter joy, and no fear. For the moment, everything was perfect, and I intended to bask in every second.”
Wow! What an ending!
This was a fantastic finale to the Inertia Series. It begins straight after the events of book two and it feels a little slow starting but if you read back to back it’ll give you the breather you need before it starts to amp up for the final showdown. Throughout the series there have been another hints dropped as to what is required to defeat Malum but there were still some plot twists that will take you by surprise.
Throughout the book all of the main characters are still dealing with the trauma of what they have witnessed and what has been done to them. This is just ignored it’s a focal point throughout the book and into the epilogue, showing that the trauma they have endured isn’t something they can forget it’s something they must live with for the rest of their lives.
Onto the spice! We start of with a lot of spice as Saf and her Lorem finally get 5 minutes to breathe. This includes several groups scenes that were not only hot but showed the depth of their love for each other.
This was truly a magical journey and I have loved these characters.
Consumed is the third and final book in the Inertia series. This final book picks up where book two left off - Safiya and her men just managed to escape capture by one king, but now must face another. Things just aren't going their way - but that's a good thing. Any book/author who makes things go overly in favor of the characters is doing a huge disservice. The characters in this book are in limbo for a time with this new situation, but things eventually shift. I like that the author keeps certain scenes from playing out in favor of the characters, but since this story is about them it eventually does shift. The drama begins to play up, but it takes time since they are given free rein for a time to do as they wish. Gradually the story gets back on pace and things get more interesting. I would have liked more drama, but it's still a good book. The ending is so-so. It's open-ended for potentially more to come. You get an epilogue, but there is no major time skip to the future, so that is your first clue there might be more to come. The ending isn't the most satisfying, nor is the "big fight" but it's okay. I'm rating this book 4 out of 5 stars.
This is the third and final book of the Inertia series and we start where book two ended. Safiya, Mor, Roan, Tristan, Kestrel and Adrian have just made it through the barrier to Aur Kota. They are suddenly surrounded by the King and his soldiers. They are not greeted nicely like they thought and taken to individual holding cells. Safiya asks everyday for a month for a visit to speak to the king in hopes of getting him on their side. When the King grants her request he allows their freedom in exchange for them to keep looking for the touchstone. He gives them a house to stay, freedom to do their research and permission to speak to who they need to.
This was slow and steady, building up to the final showdown between Safiya and Malum. The author has built a story line of intricate parts that start to come together as the reader turns the page.
This conclusion was so worth it but I would have wanted a longer epilogue. One that included where they chose to settle down and what they become. I just wanted more because I don’t want it to end. This whole series was just mind blowing.
None of us were speaking, but there wasn't a need for words in this moment. We were simply being. Existing without being dependent on anyone else's choices or commands... I was just me.
First of all: I absolutely love how badass Safiya looks on the cover of "Consumed"! The woman is a true fighter, and I love how her past results in an inner strength that still does justice to a realistic healing process. The entire Inertia series is high on emotions, and this final book is just as emotional as the previous two. Even though they have already given so much of themselves, the world is not done with asking even more from Safiya and her men, in an effort to leave the world a better place.
Consumed is a great finale to a series that definitely struck a chord with me. There are some unexpected twists and turns, more interesting worldbuilding and new characters. But most of all: the emotions are pure, and the most beautiful part of this entire series for me. I can definitely recommend reading it.
The last book of Safiya's journey. Would I have love one more book cause I love this world and those characters ? ABSOLUTELY I really like how well DS depicted Safiya's trauma and that even if she can move on with her Lorem it's still a scar that can bleed from time to time. And having the guys Pov let us in their heads and showed us how Safiya's pain affected them, how their own past made them react to Safiya's situation. Roan and Tristan were my favorites ❤️❤️ Our little tribe step foot in Aur Kota but they aren't welcomed like they'd expected ( this get resolved fairly quickly) Then the search for the Touchstone is back on track !! Meria really grew on me throughout the books, from hating her to liking and having empathy for her. I wish she'd have been a bit more present in book 3. Malum is still the epic villain he is, though now that they are in Aur Kota he is more the scratch you have that you can't get rid of.
I'm sad to say this series really fell off for me. It started so great, and ended so meh.
Consumed had a great plot. I really enjoyed following the story, and that was what kept me hooked and reading. It was really fun figuring out the mystery of the touchstone and kalo, the world building of this whole series felt very satisfying and unique. Although the ending was rushed it did feel appropriate and well balanced.
My main gripe with the series was the romance. The first book started with incredible tension and the characters had good chemistry. Unfortunately (as is often the case), the second they all officially got together It fell off big time. Especially in this last book, I felt myself skimming almost all the intimate scenes. They truly added nothing to the story or the characters themselves. Considering this was an RH, all the men could have been consolidated into one man, and I don’t think I would gave noticed the difference. Which is not what you want.
Can’t believe this is the final book. Safiya and her men have just been through so much that honestly this series feels like it’s longer than 3 books but when I was wrapping up this one I realized it was only book 3 and the final one. I really enjoyed her story and growth from this poor captured girl being forced into a position she didn’t want and watching her slowly grow and turn into this amazingly strong woman. Seeing all the characters grow a change is honestly just amazing and the way the author showed us a glimpse into the past and how the inert came to be and some of the ancients gods was one of my favorite parts of the story. I am sad to see Safiyas story end but I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the story and the twists the author put in to keep the reader engaged. I can’t wait to see what else the author brings us in the future stories
This is the 3rd and last book in the series and i have to say that the author didn't disappoint us at all! The ability of the author to write amazing stories, fully developed characters and the world building left me wanting this series never to end. The book picks up where the previous one ended and once more we find Safiya and her men continue their journey through all the hurdles to find their HEA. I absolutely loved all the information we got over the Gods and how things used to be. The emotional rollercoaster we got on was a wild ride that at points it brought me to tears. I felt emotionally invested in their happiness and i just needed it to see it happening. It makes me sad to see this story end but it was an ending well earned. Action packed, steamy and full emotions this story truly was the perfect ending.
The final book in this series is here and I couldn’t wait to jump back into Safiya’s story. Safiya and her men have finally escaped the emperors clutches again and are beyond his reach, but the danger is still there nipping at their heels. The gang must do everything in their Power to the stop the emperor getting her back and becoming as close to as go as they can with Safiya being the only living true inert alive she just want to disappear and never be found again but she won’t as she wants to stop him from seeking out the one thing that can make him immortal so it’s a race again time to see who will find this myth first. I was not expecting that twist. But omg I loved it. What a great way to end this series. Definitely one to be added to my re read pile. Can’t wait to see what other stories this author has up her sleeves
“The Inert are something we do not understand. And I do say ‘we,’ meaning the world. We know what we know about you because we have observed you. Magic can be enacted upon you physically, but you absorb ambient magic. Most of you have limits to the magic you can absorb, and yet, like kaló, you can recover to take more if you approach that threshold. There is far more we do not know about the Inert and Inertia itself than we know.”
As Safiya, a true Inert, continues to suffer the consequences of the Emperor who Bonded her without her agreement, from book 2 Captured.
But with her amazing lovers by her side, she continues to battle her newest foe, to claim her ultimate freedom.
Consumed is the third book in Devyn Sinclair’s Inertia trilogy, and after much pain and humiliation, Saf and her men find their Happy Ever After.
After that last ending it was hard to know what to expect with that hostile greeting when they finally thought they had reached safety. The gang is back together (kind of) and it's like a guilty until proven innocent thing going on until they make a geal to get some freedom. After being separated most of the last book it was nice to see their relationships continue to grow and deepen. There was a lot of one-on-one moments at the beginning of the series and now we get to see them come together as a family and fight for their HEA. I had mixed feelings about Malum especially after the end of the last book & while I wasn't crazy about the last face off and the ending overall it was a pretty good book.
The last book in the Inertia series brings resolution to Safiya's story, together with her men. Running away from Khesere, they are hoping for mercy and safe asylum, only to be imprisoned and to an extent separated, without being given a chance to explain their actions. Once they manage to tell their story though, they are sent to find the Touchstone with all resources at their disposal. Untangling the web of secrets, lies, and overwritten history, Safiya's adventurous journey is full of action and drama, sweet and steamy moments in the relationship area, dynamic development in the harem, and nice character development. The magic and world building are very complex and created with attention to detail. All in all an enjoyable read, though it could be a little too complicated for a reader, especially if there is a longer break between reading the books.
This is the final and sometimes heartbreaking book in the series. Safiya’s journey wasn’t easy or done without great sacrifices and a hidden betrayal that I for one didn’t see coming.
With the unmitigated belief in her men, their love and the knowledge that she will not be forced by the Khasar or anyone in his employ Saf takes a stand and a leap in faith that somehow in some yet undetermined way she and her men will survive the coming confrontation.
This book was outstanding in so many ways, it painted a vivid world that I was sad to see ending and left me with so many unanswered questions…which all great books usually do!
Jump back into the captivating world of Saf and her mates as they dare to stand against the very real face of evil in their world!
Safiya and her men are in for one final adventure as they work to get to the Touchstone and keep Malum away.
This was a great conclusion to Saf's story and I loved watching her and her men grow together over the series. They are just so in love with her and you can see it in everything they do. From adventures to romance, they all had a unique bond that made them so likable and relatable.
Without spoiling anything, I wasn't as thrilled with they way Malum was dealt with and felt like there should have been more to it. I wanted the group to do a little more, but it wasn't a bad ending.
Brought clarity and hope for a future to the group
Safiya, an Inert magic member, who was gifted to Adrian, Tristian, Roan, Moreadh, and Kestrel, The Lorem magic members, has been rescued from the enemy but is suffering from what was done to her in Captured. As the story progresses one wish is granted, the playing field is slanted, and they will have to find a way to plow the seeds that were planted. Consumed brought clarity and hope for a future to the group. These characters definitely earned the right to live happy ever after.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
