Red-Eye: A Novelette

Rate this book
A red-eye flight has only two passengers—Holly Golightly and James Bond.

It’s late at night, and a man finds himself as the sole passenger on a plane. Much to his chagrin, the flight’s departure is delayed, pending the arrival of one other passenger. Eventually, a woman boards, a pet carrier in hand. As the crew fumbles through the standard safety instructions, the aircraft finally takes off.

The man tries to strike up a conversation with his fellow passenger. Initially hesitant, the woman eventually engages in routine small talk. They order drinks and food, even including a special treat for the woman's pet dog, Rotor. More conversation ensues as the man tries to impress the woman in what evolves into a parody of standard aviation protocol, leading to near disaster.

Red-Eye combines wit and surprise, as everything that can go wrong on a flight goes wrong on this one. Guaranteed to make you smile, then laugh.

Oh, and it comes with a bonus The Gatsby Affair. Another one to make you laugh.

2 short stories in one. Supposedly, according to the blurb, they are very funny. I needed a quick read so this seemed like it might fit the bill. It didn't. This was absolute rubbish. Nothing funny at all. Just 2 confused and bizarre stories. Don't bother.

A different type of short story

This was a very odd short story that did not really have any reason in it. The ongoing description of the flight attendant was strange.
