Amateur sleuth and dog trainer, Eve, is delighted to take some time off and go on a camping trip to secluded part of Lake Superior’s coastline. The trip that’s supposed to be a relaxing and fun adventure takes a dark turn when Eve’s Search and Rescue dog, Atlas, discovers a body on the beach.
And that’s not the only surprise that they find.
Cries for help lead them to a small shipwreck and a group of friends who are struggling against the tide and waves to get to shore. After they’re rescued, Eve realizes that the murder victim they discovered has ties to the people on the boat and their stories aren’t adding up.
It’s up to Eve and her fellow campers to determine if someone on the boat killed the victim, or if the killer is from outside the group.
Can they keep their heads above water while trying to sink a killer?
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.

More to come?
Eve and friends are camping on the shores of Lake Superior when they find a dead body. They then find a boat ⛵ wreck with three people onboard. They uncover the truth leading to arrest of the killer.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships adventure mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024 👒😀🐕
I am totally in love with this series! In book 14 Eve and her significant other Aiden along with Tiana and Levi her engaged friends are taking a much needed weekend away to rest, relax and regroup. What starts out as a fun camping trip with friends and her two rescue dogs turns into a disaster when they find a dead body as they are hiking along the beach. Without cell service there is no way to contact the police or any other form of help. Having no other alternative except to go back to where they left Eve's vehicle they then spot a stranded boat in the water trapped on some rocks.
What follows is a very tense situation as they attempt a dangerous rescue, as well as a sudden damaging storm along with the thought the campers they rescued may have something to do with the body they found.
Fast paced, intriguing, with some very heart pounding moments as they try to keep everyone safe while getting back to civilization. Highly enjoyable and entertaining. Hoping there are ore books to come. 5 giant glittering stars! 🎉🎉👏👏🌟🌟🌟
Tide Up Search and Rescue #4 By Patti Benning Narrated by Julie McKay
Every story Patti Benning writes has an original plot and this one caught my interest immediately. Eve and her friends decided to go camping. She hadn't been for a long time, but it seemed like a fun adventure, plus she could bring the dogs and get to spend some time with Aiden. No one ever thought Atlas would find a body! Now the group is on the hunt, finding another small group that is missing one of their friends. With a storm coming, there is much to prepare, and getting help at this point is impossible, so it's up to all of them to stay safe. But that is never the case. Wandering, anger, love, it's all there in this one as someone has lost their boyfriend and now the killer is loose. Another fun listen with this group that has become friends of mine!
The narration of this one is high in suspense as the weather grows wild and the killer is at large. She keeps the main characters all with the voices I have gotten used to, and she builds the new characters with the perfect sound. Loved her performance.
What was meant to be a fun weekend camping with friends has taken a turn, as Atlas, Eve’s cadaver dog discovers a body whilst out on a hike.
I particularly liked how Eve and her friends had to determine how to best handle this situation. They had to contend with the isolated location and the shocked friends of the man found. Did the friends know what happened, would they help or hinder investigations?
This story had me thinking, do these search and rescue dogs ever have down time? Can they switch their noses and scent detection off!
Julie McKay’s performance in Tide Up is excellent. The ability of Julie to bring all the characters to life is truly amazing. Each character has a distinct personality and voice. Flawless solo performance.
Thank you Patti. Your storytelling captivated me and left me wanting more of the Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries series.
Thank you Blue Nose Audio for an enjoyable and entertaining advanced listener copy.
Patti Benning does it again she had me hooked from the start. There’s a lot going on for Eve in this one. With her best friend Tiana’s wedding approaching and things progressing with her boyfriend Aiden, they take a camping trip before the big day. Sounds relaxing… right? Not for Eve. Because of course, they end up discovering a body washed up by the tide. And that’s not all add in a capsized ship against the rocks adds even more mystery to the situation. Accident? Murder? Something else entirely? The way it all unfolds kept me completely engaged, and trust me you won’t guess how it all comes together. Maxine Mitchell absolutely shines in her narration. She brings so much distinction to each character that at times it genuinely feels like a full cast. She pulls you right into the story and doesn’t let go. Highly recommend this entire series once you start, you’ll be hooked.
Walled Off Tide Up Veiled Threat (Search & Rescue Cozy Mysteries) By Patti Benning Blue Nose Publishing (03/23/26) 4 ⭐️
Adorable cozy mystery series with the added bonus of furry friends! This series is a bunch of short and sweet novellas about Evelyn Foster and her two search dogs. Great series! I cant wait to read more about Evelyn Foster!
Book 14: Tide Up Eve and her friends decide to go on a relaxing camping trip. As they arrive to their campground, they hear screams for help. They come across a group swimming around their half sunken boat. As they rescue them, there is one dead body floating. Who Dunit?
Huge thank you to Blue Nose Audio for this free ALC audiobook in exchange for my candid review.
It was the humans’ turn to solve a murder although Atlas did find the body to begin with. Only Eve and her amazing and caring friends could take a much-needed break from everyday life and still run into drama. But like the good sports they were (not to mention downright good and thoughtful people), the foursome helped some others who were stranded, and they all ended up tangled in a mystery.
Eve already appreciated her own friends but I think this adventure made her extra grateful for them and who they were.
There Is Nearly Always A Logical Reason For Murder!
"Tide Up" is Book 14 of Patti Benning's Search and Rescue Cozy Mystery series. I have really enjoyed all the books in this series so far and look forward to many more episodes. This series would make wonderful Hallmark Mystery Channel movies. This episode has Eve, Aidan, Tiana, Levi, and Eve's two Search and Rescue dogs, Willow and Atlas, going on a hiking and camping trip in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While on the trip, Atlas finds a dead body, as well as a sinking boat with three people in it (1 man and 2 women). The dead body is one of the women's boyfriend. How did the dead man die? Did somebody onboard the sinking boat kill him? Or was it an accident? I gave this book a 5 star rating.
Tide Up felt like a slightly darker story than the others to me. I bit heavier on the mystery rather than the cozy I guess. It just further confirmed for me that no, hiking is not good for you and yes you could die (note the sarcasm). Eve and the dogs figure it all out just in the nick of time, thus reassuring us that the best creatures on earth really are the dogs.
What should have been a fun week for Eve & her friends turned into a disaster. Luckily things were figured out & no one else was hurt. Great book & series. I look forward to reading more.
Camping can be dangerous. While at the beach, Atlas s a dead body washed up on the sand. Eve will have her work cut out to figure out the killer before all the clues are washed away. It’s a Andy mystery that will keep you glued.
This time around a camping trip goes awry. What was supposed to be a fun weekend was anything but. I loved this mystery so much. I was pleasantly surprised by who the killer actually was.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the publisher.
Camping with your best friends. What a great idea?
I love that Eve would try going camping again after the really bad experience the first time. Really, what could go wrong with her best friends and her doggies with her?
Atlas and Willow and our whole crew are back on Lake Superior and camping is awesome as you're involved in the story, you have a fun quick mystery to read. Atlas finds another body, and you can't help but get involved to solve the who dun it.
Short book. Not enough clues for the reader. Not very good description of the beauty country they are walking through or of the camping site. The plot was good.
Sometimes friends and lovers are not what they seem. Lies and betrayal hurt the heart and the ego, anger will cause you to do things you wouldn't otherwise do normally.
Audiobook was great as always! Julie McKay is the perfect narrator for this series. Pacing is always on point and Patti Benning is perfect with her twists and turns of the stories. I'm always so engaged with this series and I can't wait for the next one!
Eve stumbles upon a body washed up onto the shore while camping with friends as she figures out foul play or accidental. Julie McKay narrates again as she brings the story together.
Poor Eve and her friends can't catch a break, even when on vacation in the middle of nowhere. There was a lot of suspense and while this one was a little darker than most of these stories, it was still told in a way that was enjoyable and satisfying. Julie McKay once again rocks the narration, performing all the characters with clarity and ease.
