My heart is broken, my pride shattered to pieces on that altar. He walked away so easily, too easily, and I know none of us will ever forgive him.

We have bigger issues to focus on, though, here in Salem.

My stalker is becoming more agitated, more violent. I’m constantly looking over my shoulder, chasing after ghosts for answers. Add in my three boyfriends, my evil father and my new sadistic father in law and we are all in for an adventure I’m not sure I want to survive.

One thing is for sure, though, making our way out of this, dead or alive is going to be one hell of a Descent.

Okay. So.

First of all, do not make your character go through trauma if you are going to make them act like it never happened, not even acknowledging it.

The FMC got SA’d in front of her boyfriends, dozens of men she doesn’t know and her own fucking father. She got humiliated, hit and obviously got her heart broken. Okay. She cries about it once. Then she wakes up the next day and it’s like it never happened. She has sex with one of her bf like 24 hours after her SA and then she has sex with them over and over again but we don’t talk about the trauma, how it truly affected her… it’s almost as if the author either is trying to romanticize this and make us believe it wasn’t rape (lol..?) or she wants to make us believe such a violent “act” wouldn’t affect the FMC mentally, emotionally and physically (she was a virgin too so she’d definitely be in immense pain the next day.)

Then, her now husband, sleeps with someone else. Nope. Thank you, but I’m out.

I read some dark shit. I love it even, the darker the better. However I don’t see a point in reading something in which the author herself isn’t aware of how what she is writing would truly affect a person. If she wanted to write only smut, which is more than fine by me, then she should leave the heavy subjects (that she doesn’t understand) out of her books.

If she hadn’t made one of the MMC sleep with another a girl I might have managed to read 10% more but nope. I draw the line at cheating lmao (and yes, idc about what he did and that she isn’t supposed to forgive him ((at least if she had a brain)) but it’s still cheating).

I was very excited about reading Graves (bc of one of the kink we’re supposed to have in them) but I’m not sure. The blurb makes me think stupid shit like this prob won’t happen in those books but… I’m not sure this author can be trusted.

“As long as my heart is beating, it’s yours. When it stops beating, it’ll still be yours too.”

after the ending of book one, i came running to start this one and it didn’t disappoint. everyone is mad at Asher, which is deserved and they make him feel the animosity for sure.. Skyla and the other 3 men are pretty rock solid in their relationship dynamics, so it was a lot of them spending time together and plenty of steamy scenes. i’ll never get over how Skyla threw herself into the crossfire for Asher and how devastated he was in that moment, i honestly couldn’t even be mad at her for forgiving him and wanting him back with her after that.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing? Huh? Running away? Taking my goddamn heart with you? Do you honestly think there is a single place in this world that you could run to that I would not find you? Land or sea, I will always find you,” I spit.

the thing i was not expecting was for Asher and Liam to start seeing each other differently but I’m NOT complaining. i actually felt bad for Asher, he’s clearly struggling with the idea of him not being straight like he always thought he was.. Skyla and Liam were both so patient and kind to him throughout. Skyla’s stalker takes things to a new level, it was stressing me out watching them try to figure out who’s been sending Skyla all these weird messages. Vincent’s whole ordeal where he went on a rampage looking for Skyla just shows how unhinged and down bad he is. there’s also a new love interest, Wesley, who’s a friend of Ronan and is assigned as her new driver. i didn’t think there would be anyone else, but the more the merrier. I’m flying through this series and am thoroughly entertained though.

Spicy Level:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this book because it just completely fell apart for me. Everything I tolerated in Deceit just compounded into an even bigger issue in Descent, to the point that I found myself skimming just to get through it without rolling my eyes every five minutes.

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
This book picks up exactly where book one left off, Skyla and Asher are officially married, and he is an absolute arsehole again after the horrific ordeal at the "wedding" ceremony. Skyla is now unable to determine if he was always a dick or if was he playing the part to protect her from his father? Either way she is left devastated, humiliated and pissed that he treated her like a whore in front of the entire Brethren… but that’s not going to stop her from carrying on with her relationships with the other men in her life. Now that she and Asher are technically married, she’s forced to move into a house with him, meaning they have to navigate whatever twisted version of a relationship they have while also dealing with the fact that she comes with three boyfriends.

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
The only aspect that I enjoyed in this book was Asher and Liam’s bi-awakening and how their relationship strengthened. like when the FMC's boyfriends also become boyfriends... There were moments where you could cut the tension between them with a knife and their bond felt like it had some emotional depth… unlike the majority of the book.

This entire book is just sex, THAT IS ALL IT HAS GOING FOR IT. There are also so many contradictions that make zero sense. Like, what the hell is the actual role of women in this society? Because from what I understand, most women in the Brethren die, especially if you look at the family tree. Yet, Skyla’s aunt somehow knows everything and is still alive. Liam’s mother is alive, (even though the elder’s wives are always killed). Vincent’s mother was "apparently" an exterminator... when women aren’t supposed to have any power in this world?

And I know people could say this is a "Character-driven" Story... but where is the actual character development? If you strip out the sex scenes (it would leave you with maybe 10 pages of the actual plot). And don't get me started on how surface-level and bland Skyla feels. I feel like I hardly even know her as a character (this is basically all I know):
- She likes sex. A lot.
- She eats spaghetti bolognese.
- She drinks matcha, not coffee.
- She orders salad and chicken for lunch.
- She used to swim, but she's already sleeping with Vincent and Ronan so this part of her personality clearly it’s not that important cause she hardly ever does it.
- OH... and she HAS A MAGIC VAGINA which means every single man that looks her way wants to sleep with her. Every. Single. One.

Listen, I love a good smutty book, but when every chapter is just another sex scene with another guy (or multiple guys at once), it stops being sexy and starts feeling repetitive. At a certain point, I found myself skimming through the scenes because they weren’t adding anything to the story. They weren’t developing relationships or deepening emotional connections, they were just there to pad the page count.

𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▶ Enemies to Lovers, Fiancé’s Best Friend, Fiancé’s Uncle, Fiancé’s Rival?
▶ Forbidden Romance
▶ Age Gap
▶ Bully Romance
▶ Reverse Harem (MFMMM but kinda MMFMM?)
▶ Touch Her You Die
▶ TeacherXStudent
▶ Virgin FMC
▶ Secret Society
▶ Arranged Marriage

𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨 and 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙨::
▷ Bi Awakening
▷ "Look at me"
▷ Pierced MMC
▷ Nicknames
▷ Tending to Injuries
▷ Potato Sack Over His Shoulder
▷ "Good Girl"
▷ Biting/Spitting
▷ Car Sex
▷ Knife Play

I wanted to like this book. I really did. But the more I read, the more frustrated I got. The lack of plot and substance just did nothing for me. I wanted more than just sex...

I am DNFing this series - I opened page one of book 3 to see who the stalker was and once I knew I don't feel like I can get anything else from this book...

My review is best conveyed through these thoughts while reading this:

-‘Skyla really took the bullet train from Virginville to Trolloptown and made no stops in between’

-‘Is there a plot to this?’

-‘This is the most cringeworthy book’

-‘Ronan definitely gives me the ick the most’

-‘I can’t name three characteristics about Skyla outside of sex…does she have a personality?’

-‘I don’t think I can read this…::but you don’t want another DNF::’

-‘Wait… is this a comedy?’

-‘I was really hoping she would narrow down her boyfriends, not add more’

-Skyla should definitely call her GYN to get a Pap and they all need STI testing’

-‘Skyla is a mere vessel for penises to be inserted into’

-‘She will probably develop TMJ’

-Why is this book only 5% plot?’

‘How tf does this have almost 5 stars ?!’

Literally don’t know. This book was a whole eye roll like ugh so cringey at parts and I lowkey hate the fmc and how she acts. Like she’s this little fragile girl that can’t do anything. But for some reason I can’t stop reading?? So idk do with that as you will, it’s bad but good enough that I’m gonna read the last book in the trilogy. Here we go.

So……. I feel like this book is about 90% smut. I’m not complaining, I’m just letting you know that it’s not safe to read where someone can look over your shoulder.

“I want to see you in pleasure always, baby. I like seeing you be with anyone that can give you that pleasure and take care of you…. I don’t share you because I think it’s hot, I do it because I literally get off on your pleasure.”

Skyla Parris and Asher Putnam are officially married, but things still aren’t copacetic between them. Never fear, Skyla has her pick of men to satisfy her needs, and they’re all eager to join the Skyla train. One by one they each have their individual moments with her. Then we jump into MM territory and YES, JESUS, THANK YOU!!!

Skyla’s stalker continues to pop up in places they shouldn’t be, sharing IS caring, forks, brakes, cock gobblers, and another cliffy where you’re not sure how you got there.

"I’m beginning to suspect that you’ll never choose. That given the choice, you wouldn’t.”
“You’re right, I don’t think I could….. How does that make you feel?”
“I fucking hate it. But sharing you is better than not having you at all, I suppose.”

There are two big moments that’ll have you GASP. We do get a tiny bit of backstory on Skyla’s mom. Other than that, there’s more smut than plot. School is only mentioned a handful of times, and there seems to be no reference to the future as to what they’re going to do after graduation. The Brethren is still more mystery than answers.
I definitely recommend for the smut lone.

This Fmc has a high level of sexual energy, and of course, she is very talented.

Ninety percent smut and ten percent plot. I really wanted to know more about the 10% plot. That was very interesting, but again, nothing really happened.Except a lot of the sexy times.

Descent is book two of the Gallows Hill series. This story delves deeper into the twisted dynamics of the Putnam family, the brotherhood, and the continued advancements of Skylas stalker.

By the end of this book, Asher had me in a complete chokehold. And Liam...let's just say that book two is bringing the spice 🥵 🔥 Katelyn even throws in some unexpected MMF spice that had me cheering and fist-pumping in excitement.

Like Deceit, this book ends on another cliffhanger with the reveal of Skylas stalker. I think I may have figured out who the stalker is, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm caught off guard when I start Demise.

After that cliff Hanger I was ready to write off Asher all together because in my eyes there was no coming back from that.

That was until there was!! Katelyn Taylor has this way of making you feel all the emotions when I say ALL i really mean ALL 💦 while you are reading her books and I am not mad about it. 😉

Honestly I can’t with how hot this book is I absolutely fucking loved it. I have read ALOT of MMMF but this MMMMF book was like nothing i have ever seen before. My goodness chapter 26 🥵🥵🥵 and then all the seperate scenes my goodness 🔥🫦🔥 Iykyk that Cruise ship scene with Vincent 👀👀
Also that relationship development between Asher and Liam I am totally not mad about it I’m with Skylar with this one.

I was absolutely screaming when my Favourite Graves brother makes an appearance!! I’d love more of a cross over because who doesn’t want Vincent hanging with Zayden.

Honestly it seems our girl Skylar collects guys like they are Pokémon cards 😂😂 im starting to loose track with how many men we have now, but let me tell you this book left me Shook!! That cliff ending 😱Like I was with Skylar and the red flags she could sense and see but she let her guard down in the end and I have way too many questions now. And I am not okay!!

Please please please tell me I don’t have to wait too long for the next book drop because I can and won’t survive until I know if everyone is okay and what is going to happen.

Im so invested and honestly I feel like Katelyn Taylor has taken my Top Author of the year.

5 stars ⭐️ I’m going to need 5 business days to recover from that cliffhanger!

Descent continues the story of Skyla, Asher, Ronan, Liam and Vincent-aka the hottest harem out there. We pick up exactly where book one leaves off; Skyla processing her relationships with her boyfriends (and new husband), trying to find out who the stalker is, and navigating this cruel secret society.

This book is SPICY-like panty melting hot-but also has some real heartwarming moments between the group. I didn’t see half the plot twists coming and let me tell you, the reasons I GASPED varied from shock, intrigue and downright joy.

EVERY. SINGLE. GUY belongs in that relationship and I think that’s so tricky to master when writing RH but Katelyn nailed it. I seriously love everyone equally but Vincent might have had a couple of completely unhinged moments that made me fall in love with him a little more.

I will absolutely not survive until January 2025 🥲. Buckle up because you are in for a wild ride.

Now while I wasn’t as into this book as I was the first, I’m still enjoying this series! This book was definitely A LOT spicier than the first book and we even get some MM action which I was slightly surprised by after the relationship dynamics in the first book. Not mad at it though😉 Also that cliffhanger ending was criminal! Im just grateful that I’m reading this as a finished series because if not I’d be dying right now😅

This book would have been much better if it was just Skyla, Asher and Liam in a throuple, and you can't change my mind.

I mean Ronan is just fine, like just oatmeal with milk and nothing else and I'm not really the biggest fan of the whole daddy kink dynamic between him and Skyla but whatever.
Vincent however? My eye twitched everytime his name appeared on my kindle screen, I let out a groan so loud for his POV my dog had to come check on me. I don't know why but I just really don't vibe with his character at all, I don't like him ... not sorry.

Wesley felt completely unnecessary. Not as a character but as a love interest. Like he was interesting enough-ish as a driver, and had a connection to the Brethen but it really didn't feel like he was bringing anything into the relationship dynamic so it really didn't feel necessary bringing him into the harem. Also I know this is a why chose but goddamn it doesn't mean the girl has to get with 80% of the male characters.

Also I'm pretty sure the author has some sort of oral fetish or kink but her preferred method of sex is definitely oral.

The plot is kinda there but also not really there. It's spicing up with the stalker but on the other hand the rest feels completely undeveloped. We barely know anything about the Brethen and considering we're 2 books deep and the secret society is supposed to be the bigger plot it just feels lazy to leave all the info dumb for 3rd book. We also have barely any information about Skyla's mom but a lot of characters keep bringing her up so I guess we'll also leave that for the final book.

I mean I did say these books were trashy guilty pleasure reads and it definitely feels like the story/books are more focused on the relationship development and romance and that everything else happening is a sub-plot. Still I had a pretty good time, the vibes were vibing.

Also get's brownie points because I love it when boyfriends are also boyfriend.

MISS KATELYN, kindly… WTFFFFFF

If I thought Deceit was hot then gawwwwwd damn Descent is that next level. You finally got a taste of a lil MMF and it was so delicious. Asher finally shows a bit of compassion and possession for Skyla and it’s so perfect.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝙎𝙠𝙮𝙡𝙖. 𝙈𝙮 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡, 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙛𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙮 𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣; 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙚.”

Plus we added another man (YEP MAN NUMBER 5) to the mix, SKYLA’S driver Wesley. And he is so hot.

“𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙛𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.”

And he calls her “little one” I cannot 🥺🥺🥺

THE CLIFFHANGER THOUGHHHHH!
I’m now ITCHING for book 3 immediately!
