A mother will do anything to protect her child. But does that include running away with a troll?
As Lauren steps off the plane in Norway for a girl’s holiday, her little secret is revealed. She is pregnant. The father wants nothing to do with her, and her own parents have disowned her, so all she wants is to find comfort in the arms of her old uni friends. But the arms she finds, just so happen to be a lot bigger, stronger, and more than capable of fulfilling her hormonal urges. Urug is living a half-life, haunted by memories, protecting his dwindling population from the humans he despises, and having to follow the orders of his much younger boss- a fact that never ceases to rankle him. But when he sees the mother to be standing there in the snow, feelings he thought long buried rise to the surface. He is compelled to protect her and her child as the Stone Trolls bring the mountain crashing down around them. He cannot fail again, even if she is human. But as hormones rage and painful memories resurface, a choice must be made. Will Lauren pay the steep price of returning to a civilization where she has been cast aside? Will her troll protector even let her, if healing the wounds of the past depend on keeping her close?
A touching story about a pregnant woman and a troll who claims her and her baby as his. I loved how realistically the pregnancy of the FMC was presented, and how the MMC was there to support her at every step. These two were so cute! The spicy times were many, and scorching hot! After reading the first book in the series, I enjoyed delving deeper into the world of the Norwegian trolls (the book can be read as a standalone as well). This works great as a holiday read too!
Asking for the second time: how do I book a flight to Norway and an invitation to a hidden troll village? I’m officially obsessed.
This second installment in the Falling for the Hidden Folk series might just be my favorite. Easing Tension runs parallel to the events of Adjusting Focus, but this time, we’re seeing the world through the eyes of Lauren and Urug. And what a story they have to tell! Lauren, already pregnant with another mans child, finds herself falling for this older, brooding troll with a tragic past. And wow, Urug’s backstory broke me. (grab tissues) It’s the kind that tugs at every heartstring, but seeing him finally find the happiness he deserves with Lauren made it all worth it. Their journey is as much about love as it is about healing, and the way they mend each other’s broken pieces is nothing short of beautiful. From heart-pounding rescues to laugh-out-loud moments, a bit of cheeky voyeurism, and oh-so-sexy encounters. There’s also no shortage of absolutely swoon-worthy, heart-melting scenes, for a book that’s under 200 pages is packed with all the feels. And let me just say it: Urug? Troll Daddy Energy. Literally. Figuratively. All of the above. I can’t wait to see where Ella Larson takes us next in the Falling for the Hidden Folk series.
*I was given a copy by the author, all opinions are my own*
Dare I say, this is much better than the first book.
Timeline shared simultaneously with book 1. Urug’s been tasked by the Jarl to keep an eye out on a different group of humans wandering in the forests and he’s been captivated by Lauren, a pregnant woman in the group. He vowed to protect her and when the Stone Trolls wake, he brought her to the village.
Their connection was instant which was great to see! I love that we saw a different side to Urug because in book 1, he was so grumpy and just wanted to be Jarl whatever it takes. However, in this book he was so sweet and just protective of Lauren which she deserved.
They both healed each other’s wounds without even them knowing at first. It was so endearing to see because this got more emotional depth compared to book 1 and I am here for it.
The way the author wrote their story with great care and balance was so well thought-out.
I am still here patiently waiting for Sam’s book especially we saw more glimpses of her in this.
We're back in Norway, following Lauren's story this time. Lauren's pregnant and doesn't hesitate when Urug tells her he will keep her and her baby safe. After getting back to Heimli safely, Lauren is faced with another delicate problem. Her vibe was lost in the avalanche and her hormones have her in constant need. Who could be better than a big, burly troll to help her out in her hour of need? Once again, Ella fits so much action, emotion, banter, found family and 🌶️ in under 200 pages, it's amazing. "Easing Tension" runs on a similar timeline to "Adjusting Focus" but the story is told from Lauren's and Urug's perspective and it is 🔥 and sweet and heartbreaking. Ever wanted to take a quick trip to Norway and it's folklore without leaving the safety of your couch? Then "Falling for the Hidden Folk" is the perfect series for you!
This story is just so good! It's filled with so much of emotions and care. At times it's steamy, at times hilarious and then at times a bit sad. And I am truly amazed how masterfully the Author has managed to fit all of these emotions in a way that never feels out of place.
The story has matured and it definitely is a step up for me from book 1 which was already so good! Since there isn't a burden of world building, we get really strong focus on characters in this one.
Lauren and Urug are written with so much honesty. Their deep past is so heavy and the Author was able to actually make me feel their emotions through the words.
I am stunned how a book under 140 pages can achieve so much! I just can't wait for more stuff from Ella. Highly recommended!!
This is such a cute read for a cozy, cold night. Both characters have substantial trauma in their backstories, but it is not described at length. It does mean, however, that we see Larson's ability to handle complex emotions more than we did in the first book. The focus is on the growing relationship between Lauren and Urug; however, there is some simmering political tension in the background over the question of who will be jarl, as well as the dynamic with other cryptid populations in the area. It *could* be read as a standalone, but I think it would help a lot to read the first one.
• Hurt / comfort • Mating bonds • Vøyɛurïsm • Special pɛɛn & tongue • She's pregnant with another man's baby
I inhaled this book! I was gripped from the start and couldn't put down! Urug may seem like a grumpy brute on the outside, but inside, he's as squishy as a marshmallow. His backstory is heartbreakingly tragic, but he gets a second chance at love and a family with Lauren, and it melts your heart. I loved it!
My first story with trolls and I can say I am here for it . I truly enjoyed the budding relationship these two endured . They both had a past but found love and protection in each other .
4.5🌟 2.5🌶️ Okay stop cause this one was so sweet!! I mean I really liked the first one of this series but I absolutely loved this one ♥️ Normally, just being honest, I'm not a very big fan of any kind of pregnancy books and can be turned off pretty quick. However, this one did it right! I would recommend reading book one before this book since there is some overlap and characters are introduced in the first book. I was interested in Urug from book one and I'm so glad we got to get his book right away!! He is such a gruff sweety having to deal with Trauma and she's obviously going through a lot too. I just really enjoyed their story and seeing how it developed. I'm excited to see where the next book goes 🥰
Ella Larson is my new favorite writer. After finishing the first in the Falling for the Hidden Folk series, Adjusting Focus, I had to continue to the next (so glad it was already available!). I wasn't sure if I would be into Urug and Lauren's story, as Urug seemed a bit of a grump in the first book. But I wanted to get more of this world that Ella is building. This book does not disappoint. Plus it was nice to see some of the events in the first book retold from a different point of view. Speaking of which, I love the dual point of view, as it makes the story much more well rounded! I'm looking forward to the other books now, bummer I have to wait now. I highly recommend this book: it is well-told, spicy, romantic, and has all the good cozy feels to go with it. When is the next flight to Norway?
Now two troll books down, by Ella; I really love the world she paints with her words. Urug is so lost but sees an opportunity and can't believe if fate is messing with him or not. I kinda like the instalust of these monster romances, as they both sense each other through the night air and 🫦🤭 no spoilers. Fun read.
