"But somehow, instead of wanting to fight with her, I wanted to fight for her. For her to get back on that ice as she glowed about. And I might be willing to do anything for it, but she would have to ask me. To want me. To need me like I might need her."
22 year old Serenity Bell has had a hell of a last few years. After a toxic relationship, her boyfriend leaving her on Christmas, and her passion project book being rejected from every publisher including her dream publisher, she is ready to take a break from her corporate 9-5 and visit her mom. So around Christmas she books a train ticket and goes to the small town of Solstice Falls, the town straight out of a hallmark movie. After a rough encounter with a guy at the train station, her visit starts on a rough path making her realize she can't just keep running away from her issues. 26 year old retired hockey player Eiden Snow worked at the very last place he wanted to be, an ice rink. Despite being the town's golden boy and handyman, he finds himself bored by the repetitive life he's locked himself in. However when a hotheaded woman accuses him of stealing a suitcase, he finds himself being drawn into her world as they both learn to recover from wounds to their hearts.
This is an indie published novella! It's dual pov, although mainly in the FMC's perspective there are several chapters in the MMC's perspective.
**this book contains cussing, mentions of toxic relationships, slight violence, and several instances of alluding to PTSD. for those who ask, there is no spice in this book.
Knowing what I do after reading this, I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked out. It’s on the shorted side compared to what I usually read. It’s a sweet and short Christmas love story. While some parts felt a bit rushed, I remember movies are just the same and I love them. I would recommend this to those who don’t mind a few hiccups considering this was worked on by one person alone. I give props to the author!
The side characters that appear are nice, I may have gotten attached to one shop owner in particular. 🧡
