William Ebenstein writes: “Augustinianism is the fusion of Plato and Christianity. Thomism is the synthesis of Aristotle and Christianity. To be born, the church needed Plato. To last, it needed Aristotle.” At its heart, Medieval Europe was, and Western Christianity is, simply Plato, Aristotle, and Greek philosophy masquerading as Christianity.
