This is one Bondage Club I'm running too! Especially if a green eyed hottie named Hunter Donovan is going to be there! This is the third book I've read from Alexandrea Weis, and this women is amazing, I would read a dinner menu written by her! After reading Covers to Covers and The Riding Master I was so eager to start this third book The Bondage Club!!

We meet Hunter Donovan and I instantly fell in love with him, if he were on a platter I would devour him in seconds! ( oh no my husband better not see this! ) Green eyed, tall, work confident, muscles, ex writer and owns a publishing company, *Hands Fanning Face*, I'm melting over here! So to get back on track, Hunter doesn't like complications, he's better with one night stands with no strings attached. Head of his publishing house and having everything he ever wanted, or so he thought, Hunter wasn't all that happy as he seemed.

Hunter needs to go on a different direction with his publishing company, a little towards whips and chains if you know what I mean! Naughty Naughty Hunter! He meets the right ticket to start this off, blonde, mini leather dress, heals with nice legs. What should a man do?

"I bet your the kind of man who doesn't like it when women get clingy one night, maybe two, and you're done." ~Ms. Smut Slut

Yes, you read right Ms. Smut slut, author of erotica! And is she something I tell you! She intrigues Hunter, there is something about her that he can't put his finger on! Is she what he and his company need? Or is Hunter finding out a side of himself that he never knew was there?

Of course every writer comes with an editor and that's where Cary Anderson comes in. Very opposite from Hunter's blonde lady likes. Short, petite and a brunette, Cary comes in like a lightening bolt, she's not one to be pushed around! She wakes up things in Hunter that he never knew where asleep.

"Dreams come true Hunter. You just have to allow them to manifest and not block them at every turn."~ Cary

Two very different women and one very confused man, how will all this turn out?

"Taking someone to bed isn't a competition, Cary. It's not about being experienced or experimentation. It's about feeling good."~ Hunter

This is one hot and very sexually informaitive read!!! I loved every thing about this story! Hot, funny, shocking, mysterious, and endearing. How two lost people find themselves in one another. The Bondage club plays an important role in all this. Don't you wanna find out how? I definitely recommend this 5++++ read for everyone's pleasure! Alexandrea blew me out the window with this one!

No.. Don't go! Yes I am talking to you!

Do not let this title fool you because you would sadly be mistaking but if you dare to take a plunge into a brilliantly well written book, than this is the book to read.

Let me emphasize that not only do I have cover lust of the book but it had me biting my lip with anticipation! (one star)

The Author is an exceptional writer that has a wonderful gift for writing seamless detailed books that can transport you into the pages, which kind of reminded me of Harry Potter being sucked into Tom Riddle's Diary. (One Star)

You're immediately able to connect with the characters and the dynamic between them which in turn allows you to fall deeper into the book. (One Star)

Overall the story has moments where you feel sinful passion, sexy humor, and smutastic lust... (One Star)

BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT THE BOOK?! No CLIFFHANGER!! Hallelujah! (ONE STAR!)

Take the chance and read this book, you won't regret it!

I was given this arc for an honest review. I must say without giving away the story, that this was not what I was expecting, it was so much more!!! This book was an amazing story delving into giving up on dreams, not allowing you to be true to yourself and how much it does effect you. Alexandrea does an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. You can feel and understand the hardships and reasons of why they are the way they are. It really touches base with a feeling most people know and live with, insecurity with either themselves or their passion on what they want out if life. I felt connected in a sense with almost everyone in the book. The characters are that easy to either relate to or you know people like that. I knew what was going on but it was the feelings and reasons that she brought out in this book that made you think, reflect, and understand. This is a book I could read again and know I could get more out of it. I highly recommend this as a must read!!

wow this is truly a case of not judging a book by its cover or title.

I wasn't sure I would like this story as I am not really into bondage but happily the subjects isn't too heavily featured and what is is woven craftily into the story.

Hunter is the head of a publishing company and Cary is the editor to Smut Slut an erotic author. Wanting to start a new publishing line of erotic fiction Hunter hires Cary as the head of the department and editor for the first author of this new line Smut Slut and newest book "The Bondage Club". Hunter is the one night stand kind of guy but his attraction to Cary has him thinking maybe its time for a change.

I really enjoyed this book - its the first book I have read of Alexandrea Weis and for sure won't be last.

They say that opposites attract…but do they really? Well, apart from the initial physical attraction when you meet a person, I honestly believe that finding – and keeping – your soul mate has little to do with the physical attributes you possess. To me, what is on the inside truly determines if you have found that special someone who completes your life. But somehow, some way, we often have to search long and hard before we actually get it. And that is why I love Miss Weis’ books: her characters may be closer to forty or fifty instead of thirty, but they are always searching for fulfillment in life. The stories this author bring to life are genuine and honest, and I just love that she has this gift of bringing her readers hope with her words: she is telling us that it is never too late to reach for your dreams, no matter your circumstances, and it is the same with her latest work, “The Bondage Club”.

Meet Hunter Donovan: he is a bachelor who gave up on his dream of writing the great American novel when he was younger, and he now runs the family business, “Donovan Books”. And even though you would think that he is more than satisfied with his life, it is not the case. His older brother, Chris, and his father are both contributing factors to why he is less than happy with his life, but he is rather unsure about how to change his ways. However, bringing the business into the 21st century may be the right answer: he recognizes how the erotica genre has become more and more popular in the last few years, and that this is what his company needs in order to remain successful.

But how can he make this happen without bringing his father’s wrath and his brother’s disdain upon him? Enter Cary Anderson, a very successful freelance editor who knows just what to do in order to help Hunter reaching his goal. Being the womanizer that he is, Hunter knows how to turn on the charm to get what he wants, but he is very surprised when Cary does not simply fall in line. It seems that this woman knows her own mind and she is definitely not afraid to voice her opinions. So: imagine Hunter’s surprise when he realizes that he is becoming more and more attracted to her even though she is not his usual type – what is he to do? And how will he react when he learns about the secrets Cary hold?

There are many things I love about this story, but I actually want to address the title first: “The Bondage Club” is absolutely brilliant! Because even though you might think that you know exactly what this romance is about – because of its name - you will be wrong. Because this book is so much more than what meets the eye. Obviously, I do not want to give away the plot, and you may call me a tease for stating the above, but I just feel that it will be a great disservice to you if I reveal too much. And the last thing I want is to ruin your reading pleasure.

I really like Hunter: he is in a rut, plain and simple, and the fact that he slowly reveals more and more of himself and opens up his mind to new possibilities – both professionally and personally – makes me believe that you will fall for him as well. I admire his tenacity, and even his use of sarcasm is rather endearing. I admit that I found him to be a bit of a challenge sometimes – well, he is, after all, a man – but once I uncovered more and more about his background, I could understand him so much better. And once he learns to accept the fact that his old dream could become a reality, he grows so much. Yes, I like Hunter very much indeed.

“That was the problem with desire; if you didn’t pursue it, you ached, and if you did indulge, you eventually spent the rest of your life wondering when everything had gone so horribly wrong.”

As for Cary: oh, she could make me laugh! Initially, I thought that she was so confident, but once the mask she wears around other people started to slip, I saw a woman so like myself (or who I used to be, anyway). I found myself able to fully connect with her because some of her actions are born out of a need to please others – read: men – instead of having the courage to just be who she truly is. Her insecurities made me want to reach inside my Kindle so that I could give her a hug or offer words of comfort even though I knew that this was not possible. But what I love most about her is the fact it is not only Hunter who needs to do a lot of soul searching: no, Cary has to take a good look at herself and her life and find the strength to become the person she wants to be; through Hunter, she learns that pleasing others all the time is not healthy – no, she has to put herself first. And that is a scary thing to do. But she also has to learn that she may be an expert in erotica based on a theoretic point of view - but she definitely has a lot to learn about the male mind, and Hunter is just the man to show her how it works.

“Love can be a kind of bondage,” she explained. “We can get tied to someone just as easily as we can get tied up by someone. The book is about bondage in all its forms.”

As always, I am drawn into the world this author creates with her words. Miss Weis knows how to make me laugh, swoon, and even fume with anger because of some of the actions, or reactions, her characters make. But like I stated above, I love how she incorporates hope and encouragement even when the timing seems awful. Whenever I have read her books, I find myself sitting back and wonder about my own life, actually, and if there are any changes I need to make, because her words are just…powerful and strong. That is how I feel, anyway.

The setting of “The Bondage Club” was particularly interesting to me because it deals so much with the publishing business – one I have always been very fascinated with – and I truly think that Miss Weis manages to paint a very realistic and vivid picture of how the industry works. Furthermore, a book that is written entirely from the male point of view is always very fascinating to me, so that is also why I love this book.

I cannot say that much more without giving the entire plot away, so I will simply stop here and say: if you love romance novels, surprises, and a sassy heroine who knows how to make a male bewildered, tripping over his feet, you will love this book! There is great banter between Hunter and Cary, the pace of the story is perfect, and even though it deals with some serious life choices, I honestly think you will find yourself able to really connect with these characters. Because some way, somehow, this story will make you stop and think long and hard about your own life and the choices you have made in the past. That is how it has been for me, anyway, and I love how it leaves me with a sense of hope and courage to fulfill my own dreams. Thank you, Miss Weis!

Do not judge a book by its title. To say this book was not what I expected would be an understatement. It was less BDSM than I thought and more along the lines of a rom/com. The banter between the main characters is like a Spencer Tracey/Katherine Hepburn movie, which I loved. This book deals with a lot of issues carried by the main characters, Hunter and Cary. There is family drama, sibling rivalry, dashed dreams, sexy banter and broken hearts. While the book was not what I expected, it was a terrific read.

The character of Hunter is lovable, even though there are times he is completely clueless. His dream of becoming a famous writer was lost when his mother died. Put in charge of he family business, he tries to mask his pain with meaningless sex and vodka. Upon meeting an erotic author his world is tilted on its axis. While he is attracted to Sluttie, he sees her as a way to turn his family publishing house into a major competitor. She suggests an editor for him to contact, which will upend his life in several ways.

Upon meeting Cary, he notes that she seems familiar, but can't quite put is finger on why. She is not his type but the chemistry between them is sizzling. She tries to introduce him to the bondage scene, with comedic results. Both characters are hiding their deepest fears from one another and while they are attracted to each other they cannot seem to get it right. Little does Cary know that she may be just the muse to inspire Hunter's great American novel. There are a lot of roadblocks on the way to an HEA. As a reader I found that I liked Hunter and Cary very much. I rooted for their HEA, not certain that either would get what they wanted.

The characters were down to Earth and well thought out. The plot well paced, spiced with humor and sexual tension. I loved getting a glimpse of the inside world of publishing and its inner workings. I enjoyed past works by Ms. Weis and will add The Bondage Club to my list of favorites for 2014.

Bondage Club:
We all put on different faces every once in a while. Whether it’s to blend in better, hide our true feeling or just to escape our own realities every once in a while. However not many of us can carry on this façade for quite as long or quite as well as Cary can. Hunter Donovan has lost his inspiration. He once had dreams of being the next great American novelist instead he is running his father’s publishing house helping others fulfill their dreams while his he has completely abandoned. Relationships pfft forget it better to love em and leave em that way you can’t get hurt. On one of his assignments for the publishing house Hunter runs into the most fascinating woman. What really intrigues him is that she is not what one would call his usual type. When he pursues her she shoots him down but gives him some advice in regards to how he can branch out in his business. Taking Smutties advice he phone Cary and asks for her help in launching an erotica line. The last thing he expected was to have feelings for this woman. The more Hunter and Donovan work together and get to know each other the more he is intrigued by the woman he is getting to know. Cary haws a huge secret though. What will Hunter do when he discovers her hidden secrets? What will Cary do when Hunter accuses her of being a liar and manipulator? Can these two possibly still work together after everything comes out? This book is great it made me laugh and want to punch someone as well. Hell maybe just shake some sense into them. Definite must read.

The Bondage Club by Alexandrea Weis
3 of 5 Stars
The Bondage Club is the tale of Hunter Donovan, publisher and manager of Donovan Books. After a promotional expo leads him to meet the renowned erotica author, Smut Slut, he contacts her editor to get “Smuttie” on board with his dream of opening up a line of erotica novels. In walks Cary Anderson, quiet editor to the erotic arts.
Hunter's reputation as a ladies' man follows him everywhere he goes and Cary is far from oblivious to this fact. However, a single night together makes Hunter begin to rethink his lifestyle and find his attraction to Cary undeniable.
Regardless of how enticing the storyline, I could not get past the fact that the final 20% of the book encompassed more events than the first 80% did. To me, the extreme amount of detail thrown into each scene made it difficult to maintain focus and I found myself frequently distracted. While I loved the overall storyline, the over-analyzing of every little thing took away from the beauty of it. Also, the ending seemed rather rushed and strained. It's as if Weis realized she was running out of time and had too many ideas left so she just decided to throw them all in there to wrap it up.

Is someone really who they say they are? You can't judge a book by its cover, this being the same as the characters in this book or real life people for that matter! Yes, it is true that we all hide some part of our self inside and keep it bottled up because of the fears of the outside world or their reaction to us. What an emotional ride, focusing on the ups and downs but delving more into the soul of the characters. I fell in love with the main characters, Hunter and Cary from the start. Their physical and emotional electricity toward each other is evident from the start. Without giving too much insight into the book, I saw what was coming from the beginning but Alexandria led you so far into the life and mindset of the characters you just had to keep reading! I laughed and I cried numerous times through the book, feeling the anger and upset that each character had to come to terms with in their mind. I got to the end of Chapter 18, as I was crying turned the page only to realize it was the end, so thankful for that epilogue! I would have died if it had ended that way! Hope there is more to come with these two characters, they have won a place in my heart! If you want an emotional, funny and loving story this is the book for you, check it out! I promise you won't regret it, I didn't!

Your first thought of this book is it will be erotica but it is so much more. Two people going about their lives but having given up their dreams are left wanting more.

The things that I loved about this book was you actually got to see into the world of publishing and writing. Hunter and Cary are great characters that are brought to life on the pages. You follow them as they get to know each other and dance around their relationship.

Hunter put away his great American novel but Cary pushes him to continue with his writing. Hunter also supports Cary and tries to convince her to become more than an editor and take up writing. Both of them think they are not good enough for the other one but you can feel the sexual tension come off of the pages.

This book has many twists and turns that I didn't see coming and that made it hard for me to put down. It takes two people who have left their dreams in the past and think that they don't deserve more than they currently have and show them that their is hope and love in the future. It was a great read that I highly recommend anyone pick up.

This is the second book I've read by this author and I'm loving the journey she's taking me on. Both books I've read have been brilliant.

This book is so not what I thought it was gonna be. I thought this book was gonna be full of bondage but I was so wrong. The storyline was great and I found this book addictive.

If your looking for a really good sweet read with lots of twists and turns then this is the book for you. I'm definitely gonna be keeping this on my kindle to re-visit again.

recensione "a cura del blog Libri magnetici" by Meghan

Some ties that bind can cut right to the heart in…The Bondage Club

~~~~~~~
REVIEW: THE BONDAGE CLUB is the third instalment in Alexandrea Weis’s adult, contemporary erotic romance series. This is writer/publisher Hunter Donovan and editor Cary Anderson’s storyline. Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without any problems.
The focus of the storyline is Donovan Books and Hunter’s desire to break into the world of erotic publication. With the publishing house floundering without a competitive edge, Hunter seizes the opportunity to bring together an erotica author and a new editor for a publishing line that takes everyone at Donovan Books out of their comfort zone and into something new.
Enter Cary Anderson, a woman who knows a thing or two about the erotic publishing industry. As an editor and a woman with first hand information and knowledge of erotica storylines, Cary helps push Donovan Books into mainstream sexual novels with her contacts in the business and close friendship with an erotica author. But Cary has a secret, one that Hunter is the last to figure out, and it is this secret that will find Cary and Hunter at odds when the truth is finally revealed.
The relationship between Cary and Hunter is one of forbidden love. Hunter is Cary’s boss but their attraction to one another makes for some steamy scenes. While Cary tries to get Hunter out of his ‘vanilla’ habits, Hunter will learn that sometimes a relationship comes with a price. Hunter and Cary are colorful characters but none more so than Cary who tries to push Hunter into a world he knows nothing about. There are moments of humor, heartbreak, emotional upsets and questioning motives, and in this Cary has some explaining to do when all was said and done.
The secondary characters include Hunter’s family and the people who work at Donovan Books. We had previously met Chris Donovan in the first instalment Cover to Covers. We will get a closer look at the man and his methods in the world of book publication. The world building remains focused around publishing and erotic temptations, but also pulls the storyline back to New Orleans where our leading characters will find comfort and a happily ever after.
The Bondage Club is a storyline that invites the reader into the world of erotic fiction. From conception to research; publication and presentation Alexandrea Weis tells the tale of two people with a purpose in life and a similar end goal in mind-to be successful in a world already dominated by a plethora of similar storylines. Everyone needs an edge in the publishing business and Donovan Books has perhaps found just the edge that it needs.
What I Loved: I definitely loved the whole art imitating life, imitating art thing. The story shows you the effects that Fifty Shades of Grey has had on the book market and the erotica genre in general. I absolutely LOVE Hunter, his character was written so well, that I immediately became emotionally invested in his happiness. The author did such a great job of creating the perfect foil for Hunter in his brother, right away I wanted kick Chris for being such an arrogant asshole. This story was totally not what I thought it was going to be about. The title is a little misleading and for the first time I didn't read the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed. I usually don’t get as attached to books when it is written from the male perspective but the author did such a great job of writing Hunter and his world that it wasn't hard to get into the groove and ignore the fact that this isn't usually my favorite point of view.
Not So Much: I really don’t have tons of negative things to say about The Bondage Club. It was written really well and I really liked the characters. I guess one of my problems was that I didn't totally LOVE Cary. She kind of annoyed me towards the end being so stubborn and one sided about people’s view of her. I didn't blame her for that but to me it was so obvious that Hunter saw her one way, because it was proven over and over again but she just refused to see it that way. I have a feeling though that I’m not supposed to support her ignorance when it comes to Hunter and because this book is written purely from Hunter’s point of view I have no idea what Cary was really thinking during this time.
This is one of those books you cannot judge by its name or its cover. Yes, there is a Bondage Club. Yes, there is some light bondage. No there is no over the top BDSM or torrid affairs. Yes, there is a love affair - quirky, passionate and full of fun and exhilaration. What this book is finally about is being brave enough to own your dreams and having the courage to believe and pursue them.
As the Synopsis of this book explains, Hunter is a man disillusioned by love, trapped in a job he never wanted, and surviving with one night stands and nothing to look forward to. His dream of becoming a writer was slowly but surely beaten to the ground by a selfish and ambitious woman who only loved him for his money and the possibility of a famous life.
Hunter's life is about to be influenced for the better by two additional women . One is a fantasy personified - Ms. Smut Slut, a writer of erotica and the other - Ms. Cary Anderson, is a book editor par excellence. Where one brings with her the much needed business pursuit of a new line for Hunter's publishing house, the other is the catalyst to inspiration, zest for life, and overpowering emotions.
"You need the bad to appreciate the good, the ugly to learn what is beautiful, and periods of hopelessness to teach you to always be hopeful."
Wonderfully written and with a knack for a certain humor, our author has given us a story that spotlights the drudgery that sometimes rules our lives when we forget who we are and stop living the life we were meant to live. We as human beings are sometimes prong to settling for what is less of a struggle, forgetting that not only do we have to pay the bills, but we must also feed our spirit. We forget to live life and enjoy our surroundings as we are caught up in the daily rat race without purpose or delight, where one day ends and another begins without much contentment.
This book is one of those little diamonds in the rough. When you find it, you just cannot let it go and you treasure it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I give this a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
This book is not what I thought is was. By the title alone I thought it was going to be quite erotic and steamy. Well I was partly right, it was steamy. The erotic part was something that I thought was going to be different.
Hunter Donovan is a co-owner of a publishing company with his brother Chris. They are at a book expo trying to sign new authors to their publishing house. This when Hunter meets Smut Slut. She is an author doing a signing at the expo and he wanted to learn more about what she wrote about. Hunter wants to try and expand his company with a new line of books.
Smut Slut is a author of erotica romance. She has a big following on her books. She is quite liked and a big mover one all the book lists.
Cary Anderson is an editor of books and is looking to work for a publishing house to help her further her editing career.
Hunter meets Cary after being referred to her by Smut Slut. He likes how she is very popular with her clients and come highly recommended. Hunter thinks that she will be able to help him launch his new line of book he is thinking about for his company. The first author he wants to sign is Smut Slut. Cary talks to her and gets her to sign. Hunter is happy about that but what he isn't happy about is how he feels about Cary.
As time goes on it becomes apparent that Cary is hiding a secret but what that secret is could be the end of the beginning for her and Hunter. Hunter and Cary have been doing research for the new line so Hunter can get a better idea of what bondage is about but what he realizes that Cary is not everything she says. When Hunter finds out her secret he gets upset. But this is something that normally doesn't happen to him. He feels empty. There is a lot of things that go on with Hunter and trying to get his new line running and between these problems and Cary he gets empty feelings. But does he ever get the girl? Does Cary ever totally reveal her secret? This is about not always judge a person by the outside. Things can be deceiving.
So, before I began reading The Bondage Club I had an idea in my head of what to expect. I can honestly say that this story went in a completely different direction and I was so VERY pleasantly surprised. Getting to know these characters was such a treat. :)
Alexandrea Weis tells us a great story in the 3rd person and completely from Hunter Donovan's POV. It was a breath of fresh hair to read a novel completely from the male's perspective. Hunter wasn't the typical Alpha male we come to expect. He was written in a way that he seemed so real. On those pages, he was a regular guy. Struggling with what he wanted and what was expected of him.
In walks Cary. She walks in with the looks of the typical girl next door. Her tiny frame and innocent appearance throws Hunter off guard. For some reason she strikes a spark in him and he can't explain why. She's the complete opposite of what he's normally attracted to but for some reason he just can't seem to resist her sweet and lively personality.
Cary is the person that will help him get his publishing company into the ever expanding market of erotica romance and onto the e-readers of women everywhere. She's been in the industry for some time and they agree to work together to start the new erotica line at Donovan Books. As they work together to bring on board a well known erotica writer and capitalize on her existing fan base that will follow, Hunter realizes he is way out of his depth on the subject and Cary surprises him at every turn while helping him learn the ropes [pun intended].
For once, it was the man learning and the female teaching or expanding the man's sexual experience/knowledge... Like I said, a breath of fresh air. I truly enjoyed this story definitely recommend it. The Bondage Club was extremely well written and paced so that we have time to get to know Hunter and Cary and become more and more invested in them.
Maya's Review
Hunter is looking to improve the sales of his publishing firm. At a publishing event he meets Ms Smut Slut who is a popular erotica author, who introduces him to Cary who is a popular erotica editor looking to progress her career and Donovan Books provides such an opportunity. Hunter wants to sign Ms Smut and Cary is the key to getting that done. Along the way, Hunter fall for Cary but Cary is hiding secrets.
This is a pleasant enough read when you get past the slow start. The characters are likeable and the story is steamy although not quite as erotic as I was expecting. It was interesting reading a book about what writers and publishers get up to, albeit fictional.
The Bondage Club by Alexandrea Weis is a story about discovery. Cary and Hunter work to find what they’ve been missing, explore their possibilities and letting themselves be happy!
"Showing a woman who was boss appealed to him. Hunter questioned if that was why erotica books were so popular. It opened the reader to a new realm of possibilities; possibilities of pleasure that had only been whispered about be never indulged."
“You’re wrong, I do know you.” She tilted her head slightly to the side as her eyes drank in his features. “We’re exactly alike, Hunter. We’re both trying to be something we’re not.”
Cary and Hunter learn to work side by side professionally and personally. I enjoyed this book and loved getting to know the characters. Cary is bold and to the point, Hunter feels the pressure of his family and the need to change his path.
He kissed her shoulder. “Just be you, Cary.”
“Me? But you don’t know who that is Hunter.”
His hand traveled down to the valley between her legs.
“I know you’ve been driving me crazy since the day we met.”
They learn things about themselves and each other as they go.
"Everyone yearned to be heard; it was just a shock to the system, in a world filled with talkers, to find someone willing to listen."
The relationship between these two was up and down, back and forth and sometimes confusing but it made their self realizations even more significant and important.
“I think you need a fulfilling career to feel complete; you need another person to make you feel…real.”
Remember the adage Do Not judge a book by it’s cover????? Well for those who are looking for the next 50 Shades of Grey, ya might be a bit disappointed here. Yet if you wish to read a quick, campy, sad, funny, adorable story pick this up!!!! . I met Ms Weis in New Orleans last year during an Anne Rice event. When I saw this story on my Amazon page I bought it, since the last book of hers I read was The Ghosts of Rue Dumaine.
Okay, some might jump at this book as I first mentioned, and be let down by this story, since the cover intimates it is what it is not. So let me tell you what it is.
We meet Hunter Donovan, the part owner of a very large and old established publishing house. Me Donovan Sr, his Daddy is retired, yet a bully, not allowing Hunter to make the changes he might want to explore. Hunter wishes to branch out into other genres which are becoming more popular and Daddy says NO.
We begin at a book convention, where Hunter meets erotic authoress Smut Slut. Ms Slut or Smuttie to her friends. This is where the story takes off to a campy, funny, sad and sometimes unbelievable romp where two might find happiness between the pages and the sheets.
It is not hard to figure out where this is going, or how we get there. The writing of Ms Weis with her humor and her grace somehow overshadows this and we watch how she weaves this story into a good fun read.
As some of the other reviews stated, this book is much milder than the book cover portrays. I was expecting a hard core erotic tale but was pleasantly surprised to find a very well penned, solid love story.
Hunter Donavon has a damaged heart. After the death of his mother he gives up on his dreams of becoming a writer. He is coerced into taking over the family business, a publishing company, Donavon Books. The business is behind the times, so to give them an edge, Hunter adds an Erotic line. He meets and hires Cary Anderson, an erotic editor that is also good friends with an erotica author. Cary persuades her friend to sign a book deal with Donavon Books. Hunter fights the urge to become personally involved with Cary but she is determined to change his mind. Cary seduces Hunter. In doing so she reveals a hidden secret, she has a kinky side. Hunter is not happy about this revelation but continues to see Cary. As their relationship grows, Hunter feels Cary is still hiding something. Once her secrets and betrayals are brought to light, will Hunter be able to handle the outcome?
This is the first book I’ve read by author Alexandrea Weis, and I can tell you, it won’t be the last.
I enjoyed reading this book. Although I knew exactly who Smuttie was before Hunter did. I wondered if he would ever figure it out. Smuttie was able to be bold and put Hunter in his place quickly. She even helps Hunter out by telling him about Cary, an editor who could help his publishing company. The only catch, Hunter's dad, and his brother. His dad wants to sell wholesome books but Hunter realizes that since Fifty Shades, things at the company need to change in order for the company to succeed. Hunter's brother just goes along with dad to try and be the favorite son.
Behind his father's back, Hunter decides to hire Cary and launch an erotica line. Cary is an editor and does not extensive research to make sure her authors writing is authentic. And since Hunter is very inexperienced in this genre, Cary takes Hunter along with her to help him understand. She takes him to many places in Atlanta for their research and his reaction to each is priceless.
The relationship between Cary and Hunter is a roller coaster ride. Hunter was a writer before his father had him take over the company. Cary helps Hunter find his voice again and encourages him to write again and finish what he began. These two work well together when writing, it's in the bedroom the first few times that things don't go well. To find out, click the link below and read for yourself.
I want to say a big thank you to Alex Weiss for being able to review this book. While I had some issues with it..it's written beautifully. I am a very picky person when it comes to my romances.
Totally me I confess. I felt a quite a bit of push pull and that drives me crazy. Also I didn't identify with Cary at all. I felt she was way to push and way to dishonest. So for me that part kinda made me not feel as strongly for the love story as I could have. But at 70% the book did take a better turn and I felt that things were smoothing out. I am glad I stuck with it and I think this will be a big hit for those readers that are angst addicts.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review~
Reviewers Note~ don't let the title fool ya. If you're not into all that smut and bondage, but like your books with a few sexy scenes, this is a must read for you!
I loved the opening of this book, it's at an author signing! Hunter Donovan, CEO of Donovan Printing, runs into Ms Smut Slut (ha ha, I laughed every time...and at her nickname Smuttie) and he tries to pick her up! She shoots him down but gives him the name and number of an editor if he's interested. They meet, he hires her and the fun begins...because YOU and I can see where it's headed but poor ole Hunter has NO clue.
This was a short, fun read. Not at erotic and hot as what I was expecting from the title. But overall still good. I wasn't even disappointed that it wasn't all smut and sex filled! The characters and the story line are fun, whimsical, and really entertaining.
Cary and Smuttie were fabulous characters. Hunter and Chris, likewise. The tale is told in such a "Good Luck Chuck" kind of way that it was really cute. And for all of us "good" girls out there, just remember, sometime it's good to be "bad"
I give The Bondage Club by Alexandrea Weis a solid 4 stars!
Alexandrea Weis you have an awesome writing style. There was some really great banter back and for not just between Cary and Hunter, but Hunter and Ms. Smut Slut... Yes that's an authors name.. don't you want to be her friend I know I do!
Hunter Donovan, tall, muscular, green eyed owner of Donovan Publishing Company is looking to move his business in a new direction, Erotica. He also doesn't do complications, and relationships are complications, so instead he sticks to the get in get off get out routine. It seems to be working well until he meets someone who intrigues him, Ms. Smut Slut, an erotica author that draws him in with her smart mouth and naughty writing. That leads him to feel he needs to move the company in a new direction. Ms. Slut has just the right person for the job.
Enter Cary Anderson, very different from what Hunter is used to, she's not blonde leggy and like all the others, she's petite and brunette. A shock to Hunter that he's really attracted to her, almost possessive. Her take no prisoners attitude just added to her aura and to the mystique that is Cary.
The bondage club holds all the cards for two people lost and looking to find themselves, maybe even their other half.
Definitely a MUST READ!
Don’t let the title fool you. This story is more than you ever imagined. How many of us are willing to put our needs and dreams on hold because they do not match what others believe we should be? Hunter Donovan had a dream of being a writer but gave it up to run his father’s publishing company. Looking to expand his company into publishing erotica novels Donovan hires Cary Anderson to head up his new division as editor for the next biggest author, Ms. Smut Slut. Love that name. Donovan and Cary struggle to keep their relationship professional but the struggle does not last long. Cary tries to bring Donovan out of his vanilla existence and Donovan wants to unearth who Cary really is. Cary has a secret and when Donovan discovers the truth it could rip them apart or be the best thing that happened to them. This story was so well written and had moments of humor, mystery and heartache that it was impossible to put down. It also added a little insight into the process that authors go through to publish their novels. I recommend this story to anyone looking for something a little different than the usual romance story.
I have to say that this is my first read by Alexandrea Weis, but it will not be my last. First, let me say that when you look at the title you think you are going to get a book with lots of bdsm. Let me stop you here, for me the book is more about the two main characters taking a journey in finding themselves and each other. And it was such a great book for me.
In The Bondage Club, we meet Hunter. Now Hunter was once an aspiring writer, but that fell through for him and now he runs his families publishing company. The one thing Hunter knows is that in the world of publishing you have to expand your reading base with the times. And of course his father does not want him to change a thing. While at a convention, Hunter meets Ms. Smut Slut, an erotic author who helps him find Cary an erotic editor that could bring his family publishing house in to the erotic scene. But I believe Cary can help him find so much more.
This is a book that was such a fun read for me, and please don’t judge a book by its cover. Give it a chance and you will find such an amazing read.
