My life in Thorngrove could be perfect. But that’s not how life works.
Instead of attending college with me, my best friend, Brady, stayed back home to take care of his dying mother. The woman that practically raised me.
Instead of going after a real relationship with the girl—or the guy—I’m falling in love with, I’m stuck in a fake relationship with my other best friend, Skyler, because she’s terrified of someone coming between our friendship.
Tracey is the kind-hearted country girl every guy wants to corrupt. While Joey is the flirty rambunctious type. Even though they’ve been together forever, I get the sense that they both want me just as much as I do them.
They have burrowed themselves so deep in my soul, I don’t think I’ll ever be truly happy until we find a way for all of us to be together. But how can we do that without tearing apart friendships since we’ve all been lying to each other?
Chasing Devon is Book three in the Thorngrove series, but may be read as a standalone.
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the relationship between Devon and Joey, they had great chemistry. I also enjoyed the glimpses of the characters from the other books in the series. I had hoped for more details about Devon's take on his relationship with his dad. I also felt like parts of the book were a bit rushed, especially freshman year or anything that may have been a different view from a previous book. I personally enjoy the different view points and that could have bumped up my rating on this book.
I received an advance copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily
Chasing Devon is the third book in Ms. Strickland's Thorngrove series and it is the story of Devon, Joey and Tracey. Their story is one of intrigue, friendship and love. The beginning was slow to start but as you got into the storyline, it became interesting and enjoyable. Devon is dealing with a father who really is not there for him and the family that is there for him is dealing with health issues. Meeting two people he is interested in for more than just fun, was not on his mind. Tracey and Joey are the best of friends who hook up but now there is Devon, whom they both like. As the three of them navigate this friendship, Devon is also pretending to be friends with Skyler, a girl who needs a friend and someone to be in her corner in more ways than one. The four of them become close friends but at times lines are crossed and hearts are broken. They have so much on the line to lose but the love they share just might be worth it. At times I had a hard time with the relationship and interactions between Tracey and Joey as well as Joey and Devon. The pull that was there between Joey and Devon was hard to ignore as well as the pull between Devon and Tracey.
This book was jammed packed and I loved the ride! I will definitely be going back and reading the first two books! I loved how this story spanned 4 years, and how Tracey and Joey started chasing Devon. All of the characters were absolutely amazing but I had a special love for Brady’s mom (and Devon’s) Jillian! I loved watching Devon’s relationship with his dad Timothy grow. Skyler and Brady were just perfect for each other! That being said, the years Skyler and Devon were “together” needed to happen so they all could get their HEA’s, it literally brought than all together including Timothy and Julie. I loved Chelsea and Tony as well and after 10 years they got their HEA. Tracey and Joey were just missing their other half, Devon. I loved the adventures Devon and Joey went on. Tracey definitely needed her time with Devon alone! But watching this love triangle from beginning to wedding was just so heartwarming. Such a great story full of love, friendship, found family, loss, grief, success and the was perfect.
Took me a bit to get into this story but once I did the relationships gripped you. The tangle of Tracey, Joey and Devon is full of twists. Give it a chance and you will be happy you did. Enjoy ❤️🔥
Loved the chemistry between characters and the banter was fun. It was a bit of a slow start for me but very enjoyable once I got into it, and I would of loved a little more time and information in certain parts. Over all the twists were good, the plot enjoyable and the characters were fun to read.
This wasn’t my favorite book of the series. I felt like the connection was a bit forced, and I didn’t like how they treated each other throughout the book.
