Obsessive Compulsive Brat

Rate this book
Obsessive Compulsive Brat is a short novella that centers around OCD education with a nice helping of spice!! I hope it makes anyone who deals with this mental health condition feel less alone.

Ever since my diagnosis, life has gone to sh*t. I’ve lost my boyfriend, I’m living back at home and my will to eat is non-existent. No one understands me or my OCD. It’s driven a wedge between myself and everything I care about.

So, tell me why I’ve found myself in my neighbor’s room, unloading my heart and shedding my clothes in a matter of minutes as he offers me more than just a listening ear.

We hated each other. And now we’re the only ones here to pick up each other’s pieces. Since when did a single evening change everything? Maybe that’s exactly what one night can do…

If you need a quick spicy read to get your fix, this is the book for you! It was such an easy read with relatable characters and realistic naughty scenes.

The main characters, Gunner and Trinity, both struggle with the cards life dealt them. While learning how to acknowledge and accept themselves, they also find out how wrong their judgments of others can be. With their quick and easy connection, they seem to find peace in each other and form a team to battle against their struggles together.

Loved:

💜 Learning about a side of OCD I didn't know.

💜 Spicy scenes were spicing. 🥵

💜 Realistic human connection presented between main characters.

Thoughts:

🛑 The only part of the book that gave me pause is a situation that happens when Gunner's mom enters the story - I just felt a little awkward with how the scene played out.

Dedication:

✒️ Dedicated to everyone who has OCD who has had to endure hearing about OCD being something positive, such as an extreme love for organization… I roll my eyes with you <3

Fav Quotes:

💬 "You make me believe there’s still good in this world.”

💬 “You need an orgasm to sleep, I’m the neighbor you seek, you got it?”

💬 "He’s gone into my contacts and input his number with his name being… Hot Neighbor Boyfriend."

Trin and Gunny are absolute perfection. This fast paced novella was such an emotional gem to read. I absolutely loved being able to see through the eyes of someone with OCD. I have so much respect for everyone that lives this each and every day. I laughed, I cried. This is definitely something that I will read again and again.

Tierney, I just want to applaud you for this novella. Thank you for bringing light to OCD and what it is truly like for some who have it.

Trinity and Gunner, their characters have been through do much and was written beautifully. They are neighbors who went to school together and did not get along with each other in high school. They judge each other harshly.

I love the fact that the story starts when they are grown in their 30's. Trinity has to move back with her parents, after her long-term boyfriend ( on and off since high school) broke up with her due to her diagnosis of OCD. He was what I would consider a piece of 💩.

Gunner, he is goals. He was handed an unfortunate hand in life when he was sent to jail after defending his mother. Due to his record, he is only able to obtain a job at the local store. He has always helped his mother out financially and with his little brothers. He has always wanted to set a good example for them. Like I said, he is goals 😍

Trinity is having to deal with her OCD and her parents are trying to understand but can't connect with her, so they fight a lot. She can't sleep or eat. However, that all changes the night Gunner confronts Trinity about the yelling coming from her home.

I love how quickly this read moved with them. They are adults and know what they want. Yes, they both feel they are not worthy of each other or anybody. Especially Gunner, he feels like he would ruin Trinity.

I love the fact that Trinity is all in and tells him she likes him. It does take Gunner a little longer to figure out that they are both good for each other. He makes her feel alive. She makes him feel like he is worthy. I loved the cementary scene and how he took control of the situation with her dad. Gunner is truly the definition of what a real man should be. His dressing, looks, and record do not define him. Her OCD does not define her. They make each other see that.

I gave this read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+++ and the spice 😏 Gunner is a lover. He pays attention to Trinity with each touch. I love the way he takes control when it comes to the bedroom. He is direct, and let's just say he doesn't play around when it comes to his handcuffs. I would describe Gunner as a soft dom with some kinks. He definitely likes to be kinky in the bedroom. Oh, and that scene, leaving Trinity in his room, while he speaks to his mother. That was genius. Thank you, Tierney. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 ++. I can't wait to read more of Gunner and Trinity. I would love to see how their relationship has grown.

Anytime an author does their research, especially when writing about a mental illness that is often generalized, I have to applaud them. This author did such a good job presenting a realistic description of someone with OCD. So often, people think that OCD is continually washing their hands or turning off the light a certain amount of times. Those are examples, but I was so glad to read about someone having to battle with their intrusive thoughts. It is something that doesn’t get a lot of attention and it can be such an exhausting mental illness. The way that the author described the way that the FMC battled with her thoughts was perfect. This was a great short story that touched on what someone with OCD might go through.

I always love reading about characters that are battling with their own issues. Trinity has been doing everything she can to be a functioning person with her mental illness. I loved the way that the author would have Trinity spiral and get loss with her intrusive thoughts in the middle of a conversation with someone and had to be pulled back in. Anyone that battles with these types of thoughts could easily relate to her. Gunner was such an amazing guy. He has his own battles, dealing with what others think and assume about him because of his past. It is easy to see why he doesn’t think he is good enough for Trinity but everything he does for her is so sweet and amazing. He is the only one to actually care enough to listen to her.

This was a quick story and pretty spicy. It was mostly entertaining but also gave such good mental health representation. The author did such an excellent job, taking something at just about 100 pages, and was still able to present OCD in a light that is much different than what most people picture. This book was entertaining and I really enjoyed reading this book.

I am actually in tears writing this because this book is so freaking incredible. I received this as an ARC, and I am so privileged to have been able to read this. There was so much to take in and relate to and so much I have felt about myself due to my broken brain.

Trinity is such an incredible and strong person despite her mental health, and I am so freaking proud and in love with her... there was so much that she said and did that I live with every day, and reading an FMC like her was just another level it was so nice to feel so seen.

Gunner, oh my beautiful golden retriever of a man.. where do I find someone so caring and understanding... he is so beautifully written, and I loved that he went out of his way to find out more about what Trinity had to deal with... he deserves the world.

Tierney, you are an incredible writer, and this book is absolutely fantastic, and I thank you... thank you for sharing this with the world and being such an amazing person. This is a special book, and you are an amazing human. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who needs to feel seen and would enjoy something so beautiful....

On another note... the spice was meow! It was so passionate and intense but not in your face is always nice.

Obsessive Compulsive Brat is due to release on the 22nd of November and please add it to your TBR and as always, read content warnings as your mental health matters.

HOLY HOT 🔥🥵
First off I LOVE the educational aspect of this book - many people really think OCD means just obsessive compulsions and or your a neat/clean freak !!! It’s SOOO much more than just actions, and Tierney nailed it !!!

Trinity ( FMC ) is my girl. I relate to her a lot - especially with mental health issues, and not being understood by the people around you , especially by the ones you love!!! She’s very insecure and has every reason to be because she hasn’t been loved and cared for how she should have been with her past relationships ( boyfriend and mom/dad ) .

Gunner ( MMC ) - AKA Gunny 🤤 I adore him. He’s a good guy at heart but his childhood has given him a bad reputation. And because of this it’s taken a toll on his adult life. But MY GOD IS HE A LOVER 🥵

Triny and Gunny are absolutely adorable together. Gunners mouth( figuratively ) is just too hot and I almost started to sweat LOL He just says and does everything Triny deserves in a man. They actually both deserve this relationship.

Overall amazing read . I read it in what felt like minuets because I couldn’t put it down! Its emotional , it’s funny it’s spicy and educational!!! As always please read triggers and warnings

D&D ❌ (Dark and Degranged)

Obsessive Compulsive Brat is such a beautiful novella about Trinity, a sweet girl that is diagnosed with OCD and her next door neighbor Gunner, and their “one night fling” that ends up becoming something so much more.

Being diagnosed with this as well, I felt like I was in my own mind reading Trinity’s thoughts and emotions. The plot of this book, the steamy, spicy scenes with the characters, and the format of how we view the inside of Trinity’s thoughts was all very well done and I loved every second of it.

Gunner was such an AMAZING MMC. I felt like his character had the whole “you should never judge a book by its cover” aspect to him. I love that he came off as rugged, tattooed, and a felon in everyone’s eyes, but in reality, he was a total dominant cinnamon roll that is a sweetheart who cared a lot for his mother, his brothers, and Trinity as well.

This book was a perfect read and a nice break in between my usual dark romance genre. It wasn’t a normal story/plot that I would have chosen or even been interested in, but I’m so happy that I was able to read it and I won’t be forgetting it anytime soon. I can’t wait for more of Gunny and his Brat in the future 💋

This book definitely was lighter compared to the first one I read by Tierney, yet it still had that same cuteness that drew me in initially. It serves as an important reminder that mental health is crucial, and it’s always wise to pay attention to trigger warnings. Although the story is a fast burn, I found it enjoyable to read that both main characters came into the narrative with complex and challenging backgrounds. What made their journey even more compelling was how they were able to share their burdens and vulnerabilities with one another, free from the judgment they had often faced from others in their lives.

Despite the incorporation of some serious themes and a thoughtful exploration of OCD, the book managed to maintain its flirtation and spiciness, adding a delightful contrast to the more serious moments. I genuinely wished that the story was longer; however, the silver lining is that there’s more to come for this couple in future books.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of escaping into this world during my day. Allowing me to forget my surroundings and immerse myself fully in the characters' lives. I’m eagerly looking forward to what lies ahead for them in the next chapter of their journey!

I was not expecting this book to hit me the way it did!. Trinity's struggles with ocd left her feeling like nobody understood her. Gunner's sprint in jail has him judged by everyone. That hated each other in high school. But one night together is all it takes for them to be really seen.
I loved Gunner, the way he is with his mum and brothers. The care he showed towards Trinity just melts your heart. But damn does that man know what he's doing in the bedroom.
For such a short book, the way Trinity's mental health was shown was so good. We see a side to ocd that isn't shown often. I loved that we were shown the progress in her treatment and how her parents finally took the steps to understand her diagnosis.
And can we also give Tierney a round of applause for giving us 2 consenting adults that are close to my age. I feel like we don't get that enough in books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This book is just about 100 pages of spice, and I ate it up.

I fell in love with Gunner Payne faster than was probably normal, that man and his mouth. He didn't hold anything back. If it popped in his head, he said it.

Now, on another level, I related with Trinity from the first page. As someone who deals with her own mental illnesses, I could relate to so many things she was feeling, the things she was questioning. At one point, I even at to stop and cry for a minute because I felt her pain.

This book is sexy, cute af, a short read, and still, it packs a hard punch to shine the light on mental health.

Before diving into this book, be sure to check your trigger warnings because your mental health matters and everyone is affected differently.

Obsessive Compulsive Brat by Tierney Alina Eddy is such a great spicy read with the perfect amount of mental health representation. It’s a short little novella, so if you’re trying to reach your reading goal, give this book a read. It follows Trinity, someone who suffers from OCD, and Gunner, a misunderstood criminal. Despite not getting along in high school, they managed to find a common ground in their adult lives and unexpectedly hit it off one night. I loved how Gunner immediately started researching OCD and asking how she specifically suffers as it’s not a one size fits all illness in hopes of trying to help her through things. I love how he always made sure she was comfortable even in the cemetery. I look forward to more Trinity and Gunner in book 2.

This book brings attention to a side of OCD that is rarely ever talked about- intrusive thoughts. I loved how it helped the reader understand exactly how Trin was feeling and all the things she dealt with. Gunner and Trin are 🔥🔥🔥 One of the hottest things about Gunner is that he actually tries to understand Trin, even researching more so he can navigate things better. Trin learns that not all men are selfish when it comes to sex (screw you Lance) and Gunner learns that not everyone judges him for his past. Their heart to hearts are adorable. The sex scenes are hot and the message that is portrayed in this book is one of hope and understanding. I loved every minute of it!

• Loved, seriously LOVED this novella. Tierney shows you so much insight and what it’s like for someone with OCD. Also this story was super friggen cute. I was smirking my ass off.

• Trinity & Gunner 🥰, I absolutely adore them. Trin is going through SO much. I mean obviously, OCD is a lot to deal with. Gunny, also has his fair share of stuff too, his past, always following him, his family stuff. But, put these 2 characters together : 𝚜𝚖𝚒𝚛𝚔 : they are just the perfect little combo.

This was a really, really, good story.

❤️Trinity and Gunners story was so heartwarming. I love how they both are able to see past each other’s struggles and really just see each other for the person that they are.

The representation for obsessive compulsive disorder in this book was awesome. I’m so happy FOR ONCE we don’t have the “representation” of someone just liking to rearrange their things and have things clean 🙄🙄

Trinitys inner monologue felt so realistic. As someone with OCD, I could really relate to her and the misery the obsessions can cause.

Overall this was a very enjoyable read and I hope their story continues.

This novella was an absolute gem - it was fast-paced, packed an emotional punch, and the lust was hot enough to melt your e-reader. Trinity and Gunner were magic, both of the main characters were in their thirties and neither expected life to through the curves that it did. Trin is dealing with an OCD diagnosis, Gunner with the fallout of having a record, and both are living at home with their families. Their story wasn't the unconventional happily ever after and I loved the book so much more for that. It felt real, life is messy and this book was a direct reflection of that. Highly recommend this novella to anyone looking for a more inclusive cast of characters.

Well I absolutely devoured this book. The way Tierney describes OCD is fantastic and very educational. I feel like many people do not understand these obsessive intrusive thoughts that can occur. People just assume it’s an action or movement that a person has to do.

Trin and Gunner’s story is *chef’s kiss. The way he supports her and understands what she needs super cute.
The fact that Trin also recognised Gunner for who he was and helped him with his demons was also amazing.

The spice in this book is most definitely spicing, and Gunner’s filthy mouth had me hot under the collar.

I really hope we get to see more of these 2 in the future.

✨ARC Review✨

I love the mental health representation in this. I love that it showed a sode of OCD that isnt often portrayed so that it can show readers other sides of the disease. Some of the language for me was a miss and kind of took me out of the story but overall it was a short and cute little read. I definitely liked the characters and how they interacted with each other and the understanding and safe space they gave each other as well but the smut is the plot for this one mostly which is totally fine and what I needed after this week.

STOP IT RN BECAUSE I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS DANG BOOK AND GUNNER AND I NEED MORE PRONTO.

Gunner and Trinity didn’t have the best start to their relationship (weren’t friends in high school and were neighbors who didn’t really get along) so when Gunner saw Trin was struggling one night alone in her car, he invited her over to his house to talk about everything. And MAN OH MAN DID EVERYTHING HAPPEN. Gunner is such a sweet kind soul with that “good girl” mouth on him 🫠 we love a man who knows how to use praise.

I can’t wait to read more about these 2!

This is a short novella, which is about an FMC who has OCD, and who her boyfriend left her and returns to her parents' house where her neighbour the MMC lives. They barely tolerate each other until all of a sudden things change. It is a spicy novella and which also talks about OCD explaining it and the experience of a certain condition.

I loved the MMC, adorable, understanding, clever and emotionally supportive. And loved the connection that they have.

It is a nice book to read, but read the trigger warnings first.

This book sounded interesting, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me.

I personally didn’t enjoy the writing style and felt like things happened too quickly without much explanation. I understand that this is a short novella, so there isn’t a lot of time for character and relationship development. However, I personally felt that the plot was too rushed.

That said, it was nice to see OCD representation and a thoughtful exploration of it.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

This novella was too real at times for me 😂 my OCD can be debilitating, and it was refreshing (idk of that is the right word) to read about someone struggling with some of the same stuff I struggle with.
It was also just a very cute story! Both of their inner monologs/thoughts had me almost screaming haha just love each other already!!
Thank you @etherealdragonsbreath for sending me this ARC! I absolutely loved it!!

Trinity+Gunner

Seriously 30% into this novella and I was hooked and just knew I would be wanting more. Then the ending said… “for now.” What?! Yes, please! Trin and Gunner are adorable together. Trinity had been diagnosed with OCD and is going through extensive therapy while moving back in with her parents. Gunner has a record and lives at home with his mom to help raise his younger brothers. They both feel like they aren’t good enough for each other, but are really so good together.

I DID NOT want to accept that this is over already. I absolutely loved it. The completely out of pocket comments and banter. The enemies to lovers to enemies again and back to lovers. DUDE you are amazing and I was freaking hooked...
Also the smut was king. It was fun but also deep. I really enjoyed that. It was nice to read about a guy who actually considers about a girl reaching her O without any obligations to him.

Awareness. Amazing Story Build, read!!

I have to say when a book becomes one of the most amazing comfort reads I have ever read while raising awareness. That is the most beautiful experience I’ve had while living through these characters lives and if you like awareness in an amazing story build where the ending makes you want more, with anticipation for book number two. Then this book is for you. Gunner, if only I could pull him out of the book… I so would.

Obsessive Compulsive Brat by Tierney Eddy is a short story about a FMC with OCD. I found the bits about mental illness very interesting but I also loved the spiciness of this novella.
