“Alexander’s accessible narrative is as emotional as it is mythic, blending action-packed sequences with affecting moments of vulnerability and courage. A thrilling, heartfelt journey of identity, friendship, and rediscovered myth.”—Kirkus Reviews

Some powers are born in silence. Others echo through the heartbeat of the world. Nada has always tried to stay invisible. Deaf since birth, she hides a secret: she can see sound as shifting waves of light. Kani, the bold new guy at school, feels vibrations in everything—and can shape them with a power he barely understands.
Their connection is instant. But it’s no a coincidence.
Together, they awaken forces buried deep in their DNA and uncover a truth long erased from history: their lives are bound to Atlantis… and to gods who are far from mythical.
Now hunted by shadowy creatures and threatened by powers they can’t yet name, Nada and Kani must figure out who they truly are—before time runs out. As their bond deepens, so does the cost of embracing their legacy.
The fate of Atlantis—and the world—rests in their hands. Will they save it… or die trying?
“With well-developed characters, fast-paced action, and a vibrant narrative enhanced by alternating viewpoints, this novel will keep readers hooked from start to finish—making it a must-read for fans of Percy Jackson and myth-inspired fantasy.”—Indie Reader
I’m an Italian-born writer now living in the south of England with my husband, our three kids, and a dog who thinks he’s the boss (and, honestly, he might be right).
Once upon a time, I worked as a psychologist. These days, I write Young Adult fiction in both English and Italian, mixing mythology, adventure, fantasy, and a sprinkle of sci-fi, basically all the stuff I wish had been in my school textbooks.
I’ve lived with dyslexia and ADHD my whole life, which means my brain has always been running on “hard mode.” For years, I felt like I wasn’t good enough or had to work twice as hard just to keep up. Turns out, those challenges gave me exactly the toolkit I needed: resilience, creativity, and a knack for thinking outside the box. Now, all that fuels the stories I write and the characters I create, many of whom carry little sparks of my own struggles (and triumphs).
If someone had told me 30 years ago that I’d grow up to be a psychologist—and then, somehow, a writer—I would have laughed out loud. But here I am: I graduated, I published two books, and I’m about to publish two more. So maybe the joke’s on me… or maybe it’s just the beginning of the story.
My second novel, Vibrations – Children of Atlantis, is out now, and I’m currently working on the sequel. I’m also part of a literary project to rediscover and share the voices of forgotten Italian women writers, because no good story deserves to be lost.
If you’re looking for a read that feels both adventurous and refreshingly unique, Vibrations – The Children of Atlantis by A.R. Alexander is one that stands out. Nada and Kani, the sixteen-year-old protagonists, lead readers on an exploration of ancient mysteries while grounded in their very real, and quite unusual, abilities. Nada’s unique perception of sound as a deaf teen and Kani’s sensitivity to vibrations create a brilliant setup, making this story more than just another young adult fantasy.
Alexander brings the lost civilization of Atlantis to life through the eyes of characters who aren’t typical heroes. Instead, they’re relatable teens with a twist: they are reincarnated Atlantean warriors thrust into a battle against mythical creatures and the looming wrath of ancient gods. The book’s pacing keeps you guessing, with each twist revealing more about Nada and Kani’s powers and the hidden depths of Atlantis itself.
This novel is more than its action scenes, though they’re vividly written and keep the story moving at a brisk pace. What really captures your heart is the journey of self-discovery, resilience, and friendship between the two main characters. Their bond, tested by trials set by the Tenebris Gods, feels authentic and gives a lot of depth to the storyline.
Vibrations – The Children of Atlantis is perfect for readers who appreciate mythology, relatable heroes, and high-stakes fantasy. It’s a story about embracing your inner strength and finding light, even when surrounded by ancient shadows.
This book has it all - adventure, friendship, magic, family… it’s fast paced, but still lets you get to know the characters so you quickly become invested in their incredible journey. It includes moments of laughter and silliness between the characters, but also more emotional scenes in which I really felt myself connecting with Nada, Kani and their families.
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and could not recommend it enough!
What an awesome, unique take on the Atlantis legend, bringing the underwater world into a contemporary setting with two compelling teenage leads. Nada's struggle with her powers and her deafness adds a fresh perspective, while Kani’s ability to manipulate vibrations brings the dynamite to their journey. The author skillfully pens in personal challenges with a grand, ancient conflict, resulting in a story that's as much about identity and acceptance as it is about adventure and destiny.
I must say, Vibrations surprised me. I was drawn to the Atlantis angle—who isn’t fascinated by lost civilizations?—but I stayed for the emotional depth and thoughtful character development. Nada and Kani are both written with empathy and strength. Their journey is not just external, facing gods and monsters, but internal as well—accepting who they are and what they can become.
The writing style is accessible, which will appeal to younger readers, but there’s also a poetic undercurrent in how sound, silence, and vibration are used symbolically. I appreciated the author’s care in representing a deaf protagonist not as limited, but as extraordinary. That felt fresh and important.
Though I’m long past the book’s target age group, I still found myself invested. A fine pick for young readers with a taste for myth, mystery, and meaning.
Thank you, Blackberry Book Tours, for inviting me to participate in this Tour!
This story follows Nada and Kani, two teens with unique abilities, as they discover their Atlantean ancestry and prepare to save their world from God-like adversaries. In order to safeguard their planet, they must face 5 harrowing elemental trials as a team. Will they prevail?
Tropes: Dual POV Trials Saviors Mythical Creatures Hidden/Secret Society
I find this book to be interesting, yet familiar, full of adventure, and exciting to read. If you’re looking for a YA Fantasy with mythology vibes, snarky humor, and destined saviors, this is the one for you. This book is a fun, quick read; perfect for a rainy day when you can read in one sitting!
A unique take on the Atlantis legend in a contemporary setting! Adventurous and fun!
I really liked how Nada was deaf and used her powers to overcome her struggles. Kani brought another element with his sensitivity to vibrations as well. Their power perfectly complemented each other.
Each twist revealed more about who they are and their connection to Atlantis. Super easy to read and kept me engaged throughout the book.
Resilience is at the heart of this novel, and I think Nada and Kani were beautifully written to convey this. One of the few times I wish there was another book to keep reading, but this one was so well done.
Oh man, this is an imaginative leap into the world of Atlantis with a modern twist. The connection between Nada and Kani, each wrestling with their unique abilities and insecurities, is kick butt stuff. The pace picks up quickly with mysterious attacks and the looming threat of an ancient war. I immediately found myself rooting for these heroes as they confronted their fears, discovered their true heritage, and faced mythical forces. An engaging story for anyone who enjoys fantasy with depth and character-driven storytelling.
OMG, "Vibrations - Children of Atlantis" is SO cool!! Nada and Kani are like these normal teens but with insane powers—Nada can read sound waves even tho she’s deaf, and Kani can, like, feel vibrations and stuff?? When they find out Atlantis is real and they’re somehow part of it, things get CRAZY! There’s all these attacks, and mythical creatures coming after them. It’s super intense, and I couldn’t stop reading! They gotta save Atlantis or who knows what’ll happen!! If you like action and fantasy, read this now!!!
I was a bit sceptical at first. Because, what should I have expected from another young adult adventure book about a very very special teenager with a very very special gift, right? Well, I got exactly that but in a fun way.
I liked the unusual premise and setting, the high stakes plot and very relatable characters. Easy to follow, difficult to put down.
What I didn’t like so much - the writing at times. There where moments where I felt I was being spoon fed some information when I preferred to it to be shown to me through some kind of action.
Vibrations - Children of Atlantis was very original and I loved it. I loved the modern twist of Alantis to the people of today! It was well thought out and very well written. Vivid descriptions and characters to keep you engaged in the story! The Champions will steal your hearts!
Two teens, Nada and Kani, make an effort to keep their abilities a secret, which is not easy during high school. They immediately connect and find loyalty in each other. Finally, someone who can understand. Together, they'll discover more. They are connected to mythology and in a time-sensitive high stakes to save the world.
Dual POV. I love a trials plot, and our Mcs is heading to be Champions to face the Challenge. Nada has a lot of chosen-one vibes. She does great during training. Five elements, vibrations, and alien and mythology lore magic system. Great humor and dialogue. The first test is Air, then Fire... they work in pairs (awesome Hunger Games vibes but also Percy Jackson)
It was easy to read, well written with great characters to follow and root for.
It was a great adventure and fun reading to take a break from the busy week.
I loved the concept of this book and thought it was executed well. I loved the magic system and the way it was explained. I liked getting to know Nada and Kani’s personalities in the first half and then letting their gifts shine in the second. Even though the book was on the shorter side I thought it was well developed and I loved the trails they went through to test their powers. It was fast paced and action filled as Nada and Kani had to rely on their inner strength but each other as well.
Thank you @a.r.alexanderbooks @blackberrybookt for the gifted copy.
I got this book through a giveaway on kindle. I enjoyed reading this fantasy book which seems to be a book for young adults. It was adventurous, mystical and fantastical - a fast reader.
I feel like giving this two stars is generous. And I've never seen such bought reviews as I did with this book. There are some interesting enough ideas here, but everything is SO rushed, you don't get enough explanations other than a 'just 'cause!' so it was hard to really care. The book moves at breakneck speed because of this. And admittedly wasnt written well enough. Like there's missing punctuation and such. And the dualogue is teenage cringe. Not the believable real-life teenage cringe, the kind that comes from someone who's never heard teens or even knows how people talk. I definitely feel bad giving an honest low review for a book. But I also don't want to pretend like this was a thrilling book. Its not deep and not well done enough to make up for how not deep it is.
Exciting fantasy with magic, mythical creatures, and good vs evil
I like that the two main characters are flawed. They make mistakes and aren't part of the popular kids in their schools. Their families have kept secrets from them about who they are, and the teens have secrets they keep hidden from the rest of the world. They find one another and have to learn to work together, but can they learn fast enough to save the world?
I received this book directly from the author, and to be honest, I didn't expect much, I'm not used to reading books by self-publisher authors. But it truly surprised me and has ended up being one of my favorite reads of the year. The plot is captivating, a well-orchestrated buildup of events that keeps you hooked. The two main characters, Nada and Kani, take turns narrating, offering distinct voices and prospectives that add depth to the story. The concept feels fresh, and the dialogue is often delightfully funny. There are also moments that genuinely moved me. Hats off, this a fantastic young adult book!
In Vibrations: Children of Atlantis, A.R. Alexander created a mesmerizing tale that bridges the myth of Atlantis with a thrilling modern-day mystery, creating a story that resonates on multiple levels. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into the world of Nada and Kani—two sixteen-year-olds who seem like ordinary teens at first glance but conceal extraordinary powers tied to their perception and control of vibrations.
Nada is an especially compelling protagonist. Born deaf, she uses her gift to "hear" through vibrations, a unique and poetic ability that Alexander weaves into the narrative with skill and sensitivity. Her perspective brings a fresh layer to the story, reminding us of the varied ways people experience the world. Kani, her counterpart, is also more than he appears. Popular and seemingly typical on the surface, he harbors his own mysterious connection to vibrations that he’s never fully understood. As the plot unfolds, the dynamics between them evolve, pushing them beyond friendship and into a deeper, almost fated bond.
The plot is both adventurous and deeply introspective. When Nada and Kani find themselves at the center of unexplained attacks, they begin to unravel a hidden world and secrets tied to Atlantis, an ancient civilization neither could have imagined. The Atlantis myth is cleverly reimagined here—not just as a lost city but as part of an ongoing legacy, tied to their abilities and identities. Alexander’s storytelling shines in how he combines these mythical elements with the very real struggles that Nada and Kani face, from family expectations to questions of self-worth.
Another highlight of the book is its pacing. The story flows effortlessly, balancing high-action scenes with moments of introspection, where Nada and Kani confront their own fears and desires. The stakes feel real, and the tension builds as they learn more about their destiny and the ancient forces working against them. Each chapter reveals new layers of the Atlantis mythology, and every revelation deepens the plot without overwhelming the reader with too much information at once.
What I appreciate most, though, is Alexander's attention to character depth. Nada and Kani are not just heroes—they’re complex teenagers navigating difficult choices, grappling with their pasts, and learning to trust in themselves and each other. The author doesn’t shy away from their vulnerabilities, and that’s what makes them so relatable. Even with their abilities, their struggles feel grounded, and readers will find themselves rooting for them as they face increasingly daunting challenges.
For fans of young adult fantasy and mythology, Vibrations: Children of Atlantis is a must-read. It’s a story of friendship, self-discovery, and courage that doesn’t rely on clichés. Instead, it offers a fresh, engaging take on a timeless legend, blending elements of modern fantasy with a heartfelt exploration of identity and destiny. Alexander has given us a memorable, thought-provoking story that will appeal to readers of all ages.
Editing errors brought this rating down. Mainly punctuation errors.
Nada is a deaf young girl who can see sound waves. She communicates via this power. Kani, a new teen boy at her school, can manipulate the vibrations that connect all things.
When they come together, they discover that their lives are connected to the world of Atlantis and it's Gods. These vengeful gods want nothing more than to see the teenagers demise because of their respective and combined talents. And they want Atlantis destroyed!
With assistance from relatives and a few friends, the must face and win several deadly tasks whose outcome will determine the fate of Atlantis and , ultimately, the future world.
The gods are ruthless and have cruel creatures at their disposal. But the duo must defeat each God's trial to discover who they really are and gain control over the elements.
Can Nada and Kani survive these deadly battles while discovering the additional powers they possess? Or will the angry god Supay, the god of metal, be the one that manages their undoing? Or perhaps one of the other four gods will end their journey of self-discovery and also bring down Atlantis?
A brilliantly plotted book with 5 star world building, Vibrations was a treat to read in many ways. The dialogue was crisp and had just the correct amount of humor for every scene. The main downfall was, as stated above, editing mistakes. And the use of << and >> instead of regular quotation marks was extremely annoying. But punctuation was the main disruptor of reading this book. I had to pause numerous times to comprehend certain sentences due to this single item.
Otherwise, the plot has ingenious and the book mostly enjoyable. The ending seemed a bit rushed, though. I would definitely read a sequel, should one be written.

" [...] Calming the mind is the key to healing the body. [...]"
The book "Vibrations: Children of Atlantis" by A. R. Alexander is an interesting reading proposition intended mainly for young people. Adults also have fun while reading. The author has created an interesting atmosphere here. Her teenage heroes have certain gifts and supernatural abilities. They just need to discover them to save the world. Will they succeed? The threat to them are FBI agents who are eager to acquire children with supernatural abilities. I met strange creatures here, including aliens, gods and descendants of Atlantis. The main characters are: - Nada - she has been deaf since birth, but has the ability to read sound waves, so she understands what others are saying. No one, except her aunt, knows that she is deaf. This character loves reading books. It is worth getting to know this young heroine and her dangerous adventures. Kani - he also has some supernatural abilities. He is almost seventeen years old. He is new at school and Nada will be his guide? Will they both like each other? What will connect them? It is worth getting to know this character too.
Why does AAT (Archeo-Acoustic Team) want to have both main characters in its ranks? Keep your fingers crossed for these characters. Our world is in danger. Only they can make us survive the next years.
The book "Vibrations: Children of Atlantis" by A. R. Alexander keeps you in suspense until the last page.
I am glad that I could get to know this story.
This was my first reading encounter with this author's work. I hope it will not be the last. She has great potential.
I will honestly tell you that it is worth getting to know this story.
Nada has always known she was special, and not just because of her ability to understand and speak with others despite being unable to hear. The fact that Nada can sense and manipulate vibrations around her is a trait that is as dangerous as it is important, and her beloved Auntie is committed to protecting Nada, no matter the cost. When Nada meets Kani, another teen with a similar ability, everything begins to change in Nada’s world. And as the two friends discover more about their shared heritage, they begin to realize just how high the stakes really are. This book is an entertaining young adult adventure that blends innate supernatural abilities with the compelling mystery of Atlantis. While the writing lacks depth, the premise of the novel is nonetheless entertaining, and readers will be curious to learn what happens next. Designed for a sequel, this book does a decent job of establishing the world and the roles Nada and Kani play within it. There are occasional inconsistencies and unanswered questions within the narrative, but for the most part there is a visible through line. As the book is told in the first person through the alternating perspectives of both Kani and Nada, readers are able to better understand each character’s unique viewpoint. This can be helpful, but the labels at the beginning of the chapters are critical for readers to be clear about which character is speaking. Mature middle grade and young adult readers who appreciate adventure stories with a touch of the supernatural will find this to be an intriguing journey.
When you feel different, but you don’t know why, it’s confusing.
Bonded Friendships I love books where the theme is about friendship, loyalties and teamwork. Experiences are enhanced when they are shared. Nada and Kani find this companionship and camaraderie as they are forced to fight for their lives.
Our teenage years are tough enough but when we feel different as well, it can be extremely difficult.
Sixteen-year-olds, Nada and Kani feel this way. Their entire lives have been shrouded in confusing mystery. Naturally, both are surprised to discover that they belong to a secret order. They are reincarnations of ancient warriors. Their unique gifts are actually survival skills. Nada can hear sound waves despite being deaf and Kani is sensitive to vibrations.
Before they can fully process their new realities, they are thrown into a mystical war. They must trust each other to survive and save their world, their loved ones and themselves, but the immortal Tenebris Gods won’t make it easy.
Theme: For me the themes that ran the length of the book are self-discovery, friendship, loyalty and teamwork.
